Yup, hard to get less ambiguous than that without straight up naming him. Though it makes me wonder where the title of Thaidakar comes from. Scadrian term for Survivor or Sovereign maybe?

I would guess it’s a language-specific translation, but without a full language to study and use linguistic cross-examination I can’t prove that theory.

We finally got an in person meeting with ghost! kelsier, and while we already knew he was around and running the ghostbloods, we still learned a lot, which naturally leaves us with a lot of questions, which are as follows:

    1) This meeting has rekindled my interest in a question from RoW, that being what the deal is with transporting investiture and invested beings. We knew that Kalak cant world hop, and are told my Mraize (who might be lying) that radiants cant either because of their connection to the spren and roshar. Mraize also says his goal is to figure out how to transport investiture, seemingly to be able to get kelsier off of Scadrial. However, not only do we meet several highly invested ghostbloods from different worlds on other planets (twinsoul, maybe moonlight, and several Seons), but given kelsiers stated goals it seems like leaving Scadrial should be lowish on his list of priorities.

    2) A big deal is made about how the ghostbloods are a brotherhood. They keep no secrets from each other, they do not have infighting, they trust each other. However this seems to be demonstrably false. Most obviously, on roshar Mraize actively encourages conflict between his underlings to vye for position, and several of them attempt to murder shallan during her early initiation. And while this could maybe be excused as something Kelsier is unaware of given his restriction to scadrial (though that seems far feched given the apparently fanatic subservience to him by nearly all members of the ghostbloods), kelsier himself is not following his own rules. He pointedly avoids the question Marasi asks him of whether he himself keeps secrets from his underlings.

2.5) Kelsier can no longer use Allomancy, for reasons that we can only speculate on. However, he seems to imply in his Seon call with marasi that he can use steel. Is he lying  to her and his followers, or does he have a work around?

    3) and finally, the biggest question to me, is why Sazed very clearly does not trust Kelsier. Sazed has, from the moment he took us Hamony and learned Kelsier was alive, obstructed kelsier, even if only by withholding information. He not only refused to, but lied about being able to return Kelsier to his body. He lied about the production of lerasium in the explosion in Wax's lab (As a note, sazed has clearly gotten better at lying to kelsier, probably through practice). He seems to have obstructed access through his perpendicularity, as the ghostbloods imply using it is difficult. He hides how dangerous the set and Autonomy are from Kelsier, despite an implication from Marsh that the three of them work together regularly. And, the very last line of their conversation in LM is a very strong implication that Sazed believes kelsier will one day be his enemy. Given Sazed has displayed a not inconsiderable ability to see the future, and holds the combination of two shards that could do the same, I find it hard to believe this was just an off handed comment. Not only that, but the potential conflict between the two is not because of a transformation into discord, but instead, "entirely up to [kelsier]."

In summation, given the future sight, hiding his agenda, lying to his underlings, and inconsistent nature of the ghost bloods goals, it seems reasonable to assume that kelsier will be engaging in something notably beyond his usual level of morally questionable murder, very likely entering full on villain territory.

Personally; I think that Mraize and others like him are part of the reason Sazed doesn’t trust Kelsier. Kelsier will do everything in his power to make Scadrial the way he wants it. Kelsier, Mraize, and Autonomy are very similar in that regard. They’re ok with “lackeys” doing their thing in their own way- as long as that way ultimately gets the results that were a part of the bigger picture plan.

Kelsier has also made an exception to his rules for himself- he always has.

Kelsier will hold Scadrial in a DEATH grip. I think without Marsh there to balance him out, keep him relatively sane, and trying to convince him to move on, he will start to view Sazed as he did the Lord Ruler- and turn the Ghostbloods into his new God-killers. Perhaps Kelsier himself would then try to Ascend and become Discord himself.

  3. OK, just hear me out;

I swear Kelsier was confirmed as the Ghostblood leader in RoW. (For those of us who knew what the hint meant, at least.) I distinctly remember a scene with Hoid/Wit talking about the Ghostbloods and doing an eyeroll of sorts and off-handedly mentioning something about “the survivor”-

But the only thing I can find is when Wit is telling Jasnah about the Ghostbloods after he finds out a Sleepless replaced his pen.

My husband, and a friend remember it too.

I do have a different question. Does Marsh want to play death and meet souls, or is it just Harmony pushing him to do it, and Marsh just doesn't want to sadden or insult his only remaining friend?

I like to think that Marsh gladly accepted that job so he could make sure that idiots like his brother (and eventually himself) would move on.

Marsh is a representation of Old “pure” Ruin and Kelsier of Old “pure” Preservation- Kelsier won’t rusting let go of anything and Marsh will do everything he can to make sure that things change.

Which would mean that a Kandra has Worldhopped before and that explorations have been done before, and that Melaan is just an unreliable narrator.

I mean… she is MeLaan, who has a history of being the “teenage dirtbag” of Kandra.

Also; all the “letters” from Sazed in the Stormlight books would need to have a messenger, and a Kandra worldhopper would make sense. Kelsier doesn’t seem like he’d let his agents be used willy-nilly just to send letters from Harmony, based on what we hear in this book.

Personally I think that there’s multiple Kandra worldhoppers but not a ton yet. And B)one of them is an agent of Harmony who we will be able to notice.

  6. Wax and Wayne’s names are a clue to this Ruin and Preservation duality too- when the moon is waxing it is getting larger (or stronger in this case) and brighter- and when it wanes it becomes smaller and darker. We could call Ruin “bright” because of its fire-y destructiveness, and Preservation “dark” because of the mists.

Ultimately though the moon is always affecting and effecting the world no matter which “side” is presented.

  7. The main reason I think this is because when Sarene speaks with Hoid later in the book, He strikes her as an old man both from his voice and his appearance.

Sorry for the Necromancy, but I actually found a quote from the book that confirms why Hoid is the same person throughout every book in the Cosmere.

"Sarene had never seen his face, but she assumed from his voice that he was an older man." (Page 562, chapter 58, second POV section)

*Sarene never actually sees Hoid's face!* Knowing Hoid, he is perfectly capable of masking his true voice; and with his talents, possibly even his physical features.

I also seem to remember Hoid being a beggar in Mistborn too...

    Again, sorry for the necro.

  8. This is really quite simple. Here let me show you

    By House

Gryffindor: What do Gryffs like? Sports and hitting things. The three main sports in Roshar are Dueling, War, and Bridging, which means Kaladin, Adolin, and Dalinar all qualify. Looking at Harry, another apparent quality is womanizing, so Adolin double qualifies. So is sulking and moaning about responsibility, so Kaladin double qualifies as well.

Slytherin: The only apparent quality of Slytherins is their ability to be despised. So Sadeas, Amaram, Roshone, and pretty much all of the Lighteyes are shoe-ins.

Ravenclaw: Nerds, thus anyone who has glasses or reads books. Shallan, Navani, and Renarin fit the bill. Jasnah was in this group, but she was expelled for declaring the entire staff senile id'jits and telling people that all of the "friendly" ghosts were really an evil undead army of the damned, lying dormant.

Hufflepuff: Everyone not good enough to get into the other clubs.

    So basically Elkohar.

Um. Hufflepuffs are the hardworking, loyal, sensible, honest, optomistic, and overprotective. If you have a Puff on your side, they stick there without fail. They will literally jump in frount of you to keep you safe.

But on the flip side, if they decide to be evil BOY are you in trouble! Everyone seems to forget that Umbridge was a Hufflepuff...

As for Slytherins, DID YOU FORGET HORACE SLUGHORN? Yes he was a pompus codger but he was a very lovable pompus codger.

And that discription of Ravenclaws was downplayed and borderline offencive. Being a Ravenclaw myself, I know a lot about it. Ravenclaws are nerds, yes. We read books, again correct. However you forgot that we are the house that is good at potions, that tries to create new and helpful spells, and might be slightly insane.

Gryffindors just like "sports and hitting things"? Wow. No WONDER they've always been the glorified house.

Excuse me if I'm wrong but that seems a little house racist to me. All of us have a dark side, and people are more complex then those discriptions.

Edit: I don't mean to be rude, but I don't want anyone else to be rude to my Hufflepuff and Slytherin friends.

  9. While I think that Elhokar is on his way to becoming a Radiant, I don't have a good feeling about those spren. They seem to bring out a worse side of Elhokar, and I think they are deliberately feeding his paranoia. They disappeared when Kaladin arrives, and Kaladin is one of the most hero-y characters in the book.

So, Yes, I think Elhokar will be a Radiant, but those spren are giving off some seriously bad vibes, dude.

Perhaps the Cryptic's were trying to prevent Elohkar's bonding from happening!

  10. Baine: Well, Pattern was pretty creepy before he turned out to be Shallan's spren...

Ari: You might be onto something. Though, we don't exactly know how far Brandon's going to go with a Shardworld of three Splinters. Cultivation's power hasn't really been seen like Odium and Honor's... Maybe!

  11. Yeah... introvert/extrovert isn't necessarily just loner vs. party animal. INFP's tend to be really, really nice and genuinely care about people (as opposed to INTJ's, [who I apparently must insert into every post,] who just literally can't make themselves care about other peoples' feelings even if they want to)

    Thanks! INFP here.
  12. While reading WoK and WoR I noticed something really exciting: Elhokar sees the shadow of at least one Cryptic following him. He complains about it when talking about his fear of being assassinated, offhandedly saying "I see them in the shadows... Swirling symbols." (I'll find the exact quote a little bit later, but those are the important parts. If someone else wants to find and post the quote feel free!)

    Thoughts? Theories?

  13. Hoid = Ravenclaw. He's strange and wise enough! Lol, but I'm serious about his placing.

Adolin is a dead ringer for Hufflepuff, but I can see him being a Gryffindor too.

Shallan is hard to place, but I believe she's a Slytherin. Let me explain: Shallan LOVES finally being able to adventure and study, something she'd dreamed of forever. She struggled with her bond with Pattern and accepting it (Slytherin's are known for their hard times in accepting themselves as they are. They seem to think that they aren't enough...).

    Renerin is a Ravenclaw.

Dalinar is a 'Puff or a Gryffindor, much like Adolin. I think he's more of a Gryffindor though.

Navini is a Ravenclaw, she loves tinkering with Fabrials like Luna Lovegood's mum did with spells, only safer.

    Elohkar is a Gryffindor.

Kaladin is a Slytherin with VERY STRONG Gryffindor qualities.

    Tien is a 'Puff.

    Rock is a Gryffindor.

    Lopen is a Gryffindor.

    Teft is a grumpy Ravenclaw.

    Jasnah is a Ravenclaw.

    Lift is a Puff.

    Sebrial is a Ravenclaw.

    Palona is a Gryffindor.

    ...

That's all I can think of right now.
