  1. Nightblood's determination of evil is interesting in the fact that he doesnt seem to consider Szeth or Naln as evil. And by interesting, I mean they are both rather homicidal.
  2. Im doing a re-read, and had a question that my ineptitude with the search function isnt helping with. Chapter nine: "Three of sixteen ruled, but now the Broken One reigns." Im assuming it refers to shards, the three shards on Roshar are Odium, Honor, and Cultivation. So who is the Broken One?
  3. I think the highstorms act as a device to spread the investiture across the continent(sort of like Mists from Mistborn). Following that line of thought, that the Origin is Honor's shardpool, and that why the storms generate there.
  4. Im no good at long drawn out theories and I apologize for this, but Im going to throw out a couple ideas. Though Im solidly in Moogle's camp on this. I dont think metals are necessary, but act as a tool to tune investiture to a certain frequency/wavelength. Measuring this wavelength is how Vin can pierce copperclouds. Each metal modulates the Investiture to proper length to be used by the Allomancer/misting, but a powerful enough allomancer can alter the wavelength on their own. So a fabrial has to have the proper converter(metal/gem/etc) to change the investure to the proper wavelength to produce the desired effect.
  5. Ive been been waiting for a good shin splints pun for a while now.
  6. Not a huge theory or idea, but it popped into my little brainpan. If the 17th shard is all about non-intervention, can they act as a objective 3rd party of the Cosmere? Politically neutral. As in maybe they witnessed or brokered the Oathpact, as it involves multiple Cosmere entities(especially since the Heralds are non-Rosharians). And that this is part of what they are worried that Hoid is going to jeopardize? Feel free to shoot down =P
  7. The fear of water is a new fear, Im not sure it applies if he was already an epic. He never had nightmares about water before hand. I think it would only apply if he became a new epic when Calamity was trying to gift him.
  8. I think the problem most people have with Ren is that they view him from the Hero perspective of Fantasy. Much like Ren views himself as a member of a warrior based society, where strength and prowess are foremost traits. With his physical/health limitations, he suffers from a severe lack of confidence. Its not that he lacks value, he has lacked the opportunity to express it. With the speculated abilities of truthseeing(foresight) and a scholarly aspect, he presents the ability to be a Taravangian without the evil machiavellian slant. He'll potentially have the ability to guide and advise his father, the bondsmith. With the possible knowledge of whats going to (potentially)happen, his guidance would be invaluable. Not all KR are going to assets exclusive to a battlefield. After all, the Way of Kings, that his father puts so much stock on, was set as guide for ideals for the KR. This guide is leading Dalinar away from such a warring society, where men, like Ren, are going to have more value.
  9. This seems an appropriate thread to ask this question... Are there any theories as to why the Heralds came to be? Were they special before being declared Heralds, or was their near immortality granted by the oathpact?
  10. Q: So then that's why at one point Shallan requires ten heartbeats and now she doesn't. A: Right, just like — it's the exact same reason why Kaladin's forehead wounds don't heal, because he views himself as need— as having those, somewhere deep inside of him, and that can't heal until that goes away. And it's the same reason why in Warbreaker, when you bring something to life your intention, rather than really what you say, is what matters. It's all about perception. On the Day 12 Chapter(id site a page number, but my nook seems to be numbered differently than any other manuscript ever), Shai explains to Gaotona that she couldnt have forged just the blocks of her cell wall, because the blocks now think of themselves as part of a whole wall. If you extrapolate that upwards the wall would think of itself as a room. The difference is that she doesnt percieve it that way. And dont ever apologize to me if you think Im wrong, its been known to happen P.S. Its also intimidating to even try to disagree with the alumni around here.
  11. So the limb only cares that its a limb, and not a part of the body? So the chair's identity can be changed, but the identy of the room doesnt affect it? Or the palace? That seems to be faulty somehow
  12. Im not going to disagree with this, because I find it quite plausible. Though to offer another thought, I also think it may have taken because Shai believes that it should. As WoB has stated, perception has a lot to do with how magic works. Like the belief that it takes 10 heartbeats for a shardblade to appear, even though we see evidence to the contrary. So with the justification of her own logic in her mind, the Forgery actually does take.
  13. Hemalugically? O.o That brings a whole new horrifying possibility to bad desert foods...
  14. Is the Darkside recruiting here too? Or are we just lacing them with party favors?
