  1. Callsign: Shrike Tiny predatory bird that impales it's prey on thorns and sharp wood spikes to consume at it's leasure. Latin name laniidea means butcher. Nuff said...
  2. That's pretty cool. I've been contemplating a cosmere themed tattoo for a long time and can't seem to make up my mind about what to get. Yours looks great!
  3. Welcome to the shard. I would say that you are in the right place for sure! Have an upvote an a spoiler rich good time!
  4. I work at a shipping warehouse and got to peek at a copy last week...I thought I was lucky....now I'm just jealous!
  5. That's kind of what I meant. I guess my statement was poorly worded.
  6. I'm fairly certain it is one of the creations of the unmade referred to as the midnight mother or Re-shephir. Like the midnight essence we see in one of Dalinar's visions.
  7. Awesome asreal! I got a sneak peek at those earlier today but only for a minute. I'm happy Brandon posted them...and I'm happy you shared!
  8. I have a suspicion that it is going to be Moash. There is a scene in WoK when he is practicing with the spear in a chasm, by the light of a dozen spheres, and he is described as having an equal number of shadows. I know that it is far from definitive, it may not even be foreshadowing since the number of shadows is different. Its just a scene that made me think of the possibility, and after pondering the idea, it seemed to fit. While he and Moash were friends, they were also opposites. Kaladin wanted to excel at fighting in order to save people, Moash to kill them. I could keep listing examples...but the list goes on. Btw...he also has shardplate. As the singular connector pointed out, Brandon likes to develop his important characters. It would be an interesting plot development to have these two, once friends, stand toe to toe, in the battle for roshar.
  9. I Once knew someone named uncle Andy. He wasn't really my uncle. And I don't think his name was Andy either. If you ever meet him...don't accept any drinks from him.
  10. I would follow him until he went to sleep. Then fill his room with concrete and seal the doors and windows shut. Or Lure him into a pitfall trap with really weak sides. No crawling out, and if he uses his dynamite trick he 'll just bury himself. Once he's down there you can pick your method of disposal. Really, the key here is detainment. Once they can't get away...you can just wear them down. I would suggest tracking them to the place where they live. Digging 25 ft deep dead falls with barbed steel stakes outside of each exit. Setting the building on fire with teams of gunmen waiting in a perimeter. The idea is to force them to wait it out in the flames...or flee into a pitfall...all the while being riddled by bullets. Btw...all of these are assuming that i am not invested...nor can I hire anyone who is.
  11. I'm pretty sure there is a WoB (or something) out there about lerasium actually doing something different for allomancers. Remember, we have only seen lerasium used by a non allomancer. So...there is really no way to know what D-lerasium burn would do.
  12. Thanks idealistic. I don't have anything more than a hunch, but I feel like there has to be some specific nature to each God metal that fits into the currently existing structure. Atium being temporal, and lerasium being enhancement.
  13. Something that has always bothered / interested me is how atium appears to operate like a temporal metal, and how we only see it alloyed with another temporal metal. I know the assumption is that each metal can produce a God metal alloy...but does anyone have the WoB for this?
  14. When you start wondering which ancient deities may have actually been homicitally manical crime lords...
  15. Boon: You get one elephant that eats and poops twice as much as normal. Bane: you can never go more that 20ft. From your over eating/pooping elephant. Wish: I wish for an awesome boon/bane idea.
  16. Congrats on joining the shard! Have an upvote! Welcome to our friendly community of fans! Now go away and don't come back until you finish the trilogy! Its not because youre not welcome. You totally are. Its because you are risking depriving yourself of a joyous experience all of us here cherish. I wish I could forget what happens...just so I could go back and read it for the first time again. Trust our advice...and don't spoil it.
  17. I think it's safe to say that the number of reasons is literally greater than zero. Btw...ist das ein gerbil fetus?
  18. Well...burning pewter helps him to ignore pretty much all of the other drawbacks to run savanthood. So why not. After all, when the spike gets pulled out he collapses from exhaustion and blood loss. If pewter can block all that out...a sword tip in his shoulder shouldn't be too much of a bother. Just sayin.
  19. You know...I never really considered devotion (either/or/both) dominion to be an option for the identity of trell (with them being more or less dead and all)...and I totally realized the similarity between the red eyed mystery being and the legend of the svrakiss. For some reason I just never associated the two...but now you have me wondering. As you said, I don't think it's very likely...but you've got, me thinking maybe...
  20. Yeah...a wing suit with this combo would be pretty sweet. That would come after a hilariously large gun and a good, sturdy helmet.
  21. Well...a couple of my top picks have already been mentioned, but I've always thought that it would be cool to see what A-pewter F-iron would be like. While you usually have a net loss it strength when tapping weight to become lighter, you would have drastically increased strength from burning pewter, making you much lighter and much stronger at the same time. On the other side...one of the big limitations we see in iron feruchemists is how tapping a lot of weight makes movement all but impossible, again, you could offset this limitation with pewter. On top of everything else you have all of the other advantages of pewter like durability, balance, coordination, etc. I'm picturing a 100 foot moon jump that ends in a concrete shattering cannonball to the street, knocking bad guys and bystanders off their feet. Before the dust settles you're already moving with enhanced speed, augmented further by decreased weight, as you subdue a score of foes in an eyeblink. The last villain tries to make a get away by running you down in a car, only to find you as unyielding as an iron statue. The resulting crash leaves the car and driver a wreck, but you barely bruised. Hearing police sirens coming near, and observing all baddies incapacitated, you spring into the air, rebounding between two buildings, until you crest the edge of a rooftop and sprint away.
  22. Shardblade and plate sorely sought, For them oft duels are hard fought, And those with the skill, Who are willing to kill, Can win prizes that never are bought. There once was a hopper named Hoid, And of all, the most he enjoyed, Was to go to and fro, Though why we don't know, And leave all the cosmere annoyed. There once was a man named rashak, The man ate godmetal as snack, In his chair he did spin, To face mistborn Vin, And told inquisitors to attack.
  23. Ended up with seeker...which is totally what I would want if I were living on scadrial...or if there were lots of other allomancers on earth. Information is power people.
  24. Slightly off topic...if you were to sever their torso above the stomach (where fuel for compunding currently is) separating the brain from the thing that facilitates extreme healing...what happens? Does the lower portion with the gold grow a new top of the body...or does the upper portion with the brain die? Of the lower portion grows a new body...could you use some form of advanced medicine to,preserve the upper portion and effectively clone someone?
  25. Thanks to both of you for providing the reverent info...I actually found it myself not long after posting, then got lost in an ADD moment and didn't come back to this thread. Upvotes to both of you. I really should be able to do the legwork myself...I've been absent from the shard for a while and need to reign in my etiquette...thanks again.
