  1. RE Converter discussion: Converter's powers allow her to be an adiabatic body. She has perfect control over energy, which is the only reason this is possible. Therefore, she is simply keeping all of her energy to herself, and not letting any escape. This would not cause the air around to cool any further than Rainmaker has made it, meaning the Oxygen and Nitrogen would not freeze. In addition, this means that Converter's energy isn't escaping, and so her body temperature would not drop, so she herself would also not freeze. In fact, she shouldn't even feel cold, period, unless she waited to start conserving her energy until after she got cold, in which case she'll be in a perpetually cold state until she absorbs more energy.

For those who aren't engineer-literate, adiabatic bodies are bodies which have zero energy (heat) transference with anything else, air included. Obviously, this doesn't follow physics, and so adiabatic bodies are only ever used as beginning assumptions when solving real world problems (as a Chemical Engineer, I can attest to how useful they are as an idea).

Converter doesn't hold energy perfectly though--it leaks. And she can't get back that leaked energy.

  2. The Rending happens as a result of being initially consumed by Calamity's darkness.

Invocation, the Celestial Epic of Firefight's dimension, did not produce said darkness, so rending, in my opinion, is not possible.

I think that Invocation still hated people, he just left when he was supposed to. So during that year-or-so, Epics were evil, until Invocation left, when they reverted back to normal.

  3. Why did parallel Steelheart kill David.

Blain definitely killed David, it wasn't just him failing to save him, because Firefight wouldn't of said the Steelheart killed him if that was the case.

So how could Blain of accidentally killed David.

Blain got his powers when Invocation was still there, so I assumed that he killed David as part of his Rending.

  4. So um, with the bus chase, no one except Taylor Swift actually reacted to Shattershot's deadly bus shards or BusDriver's flying bus. Should I write that most of the cars and the Epics go after Quicksilver and the bus gets away, or wait for someone else to post.

Also, does Reader have anything to do? I'm sure someone would tell him to do something with Quicksilver's attack on HQ (though he is in his church and not in actual HQ).

  5. In other news I actually got a Quicksilver post up thanks to this surge of something I've heard referenced as productivity.

    What a strange feeling...

    That was awesome. :D

Is it my turn in the actual bus chase?

  6. Shiny is a siscon!?

    Actually I don't know why I'm surprised. :P

Is that your own artwork? Looks really good.

No, it's one of our friend's. It's based off of a Mistborn RPG character, actually. :P

  7. I saw Timeport as the kind of fellow who would gladly betray his old boss if he was beaten. Am I wrong in this?

Kind of? :P His interpretation of his mission from Calamity makes things complicated. :P

  8. Well Lucentia could probably repair it faster than he could get rid of it, and just kill him as soon as he showed up.

(On mobile, sorry for potential double post)

Unless Lucentia wants to be stuck there forever constantly replacing the diamonds. Timeport can just remove them all after she leaves, considering neither he nor CM can die (for long, in Timeport's case :P).

  9. Assuming Timeport wouldn't just leave him in the diamond, assuming that if he can't get out of it himself he's not worth serving.

Epics have a level of pure, undiluted disloyalty that's honestly kind of impressive. :P

Hm...I can make it work. Timeport *really really* wants to go work with Lightwards right now, so he can ... Yeah, I can make it work.

  10. GUYS I JUSY REALIZED SOMETHING:

Project Amber isn't going to work.

When Timeport teleports into objects, he makes the object disappear (e.g. If he teleports into the wall, then out of the wall, there's a Timeport-sized hold in the wall). With him on Corpsemaker's side, he would never let Corpsemaker just stay trapped in diamond. He would teleport around CM and remove the diamond.

    This is a problem.

  11. But does a corrupted Epic still have a soul?

Anyway, completely unrelated but with how casually Timeport is treating his own death, it should be fairly simple to get a sample from him for a motivatos, shouldn't it?

If the Carlsiles want an immortal, hurt, and angry Timeport hunting them down, then yes.

  12. So, Megan shows that there are multiple realities within the Reckonersverse. She also describes that there is a universe for every possibility. Well, one possibility is that, in a dwarf galaxy far away, an all-powerful being is created, named Adonalsium.

People (too many people) have asked "is Reckoners Cosmere?" What no one has asked is, "Is Cosmere Reckoners?"?!?!?

    This is a joke :P

  13. Timeport wouldn't have powers, as he got them much more recently. He'd probably still be trying to be a good person despite his sociopathy.

Reader would be a helpful interrogator for the local police, wherever he was.

Mommy would be essentially the same, though she's be taking care of her own children, not others'.

BusDriver would be a grumpy school bus driver, and would also be the underpaid and only bus provider for the local school district. :P

  14. Kindle LOC 1721

“Makes an chull out of you and Mer. I believe that's supposed to say "me"

No, it's supposed to Mer. It's a spin on the saying "you know what assuming does? It makes a chull out of you and me," except it's not assume, it's assumer.

Timeport clutched the note with the astral projector’s address in one hand and controlled his mech with the other. It was unfortunate, but to take the mech he had to leave his battle axe behind. So worth it. He blinked forward, teleporting instead of walking, like always, always hesitating for a moment between blinks so that Electro’s mech could keep up. With each blink, he felt like rocketing in front of Electro; the sneaky voice in his head saying You don’t need a “guard,” Timeport. You can do this yourself. In fact, why don’t you just get rid of the competition now? Electro is gone, and the girl is yours. You can take her back to Corpsemaker and follow your mission--with no impediments.

He looked at Electro as he caught up to Timeport once again. Well, I could... but no. Corpsemaker wouldn’t be very happy, and he won’t believe any excuse I give him. Blinking a few more times, Timeport turned to see a confused Electro that was trying to turn down a street toward Chimera’s zoo.

    Oh yeah.

“Electro! Do you really think Corpsemaker and I would pass notes just for funsies? We’re not going to Chimera’s zoo at all.”

Electro was thrilled at the prospect of using his powers again. Chimera had always been left alone, as his animal army posed a threat to most humans. But for Electro, they only gave him a better challenge. Timeport called back to Electro as he turned down the street to the zoo, saying that they weren’t going to the zoo at all.

“Then where are we going?” Electro asked.

“Remember that hot girl we met the other day?” After I got eaten. That still amazed him--dinosaurs!!! In Portland!!! “The one we couldn't touch at all? We’re gonna go get her real body.”

The crazy one? Sure, she was attractive, in a bubbly schoolgirl kind of way, but hot? Definitely not. Electro found himself again wondering if Timeport was the best companion. His taste in women was definitely lacking. Then again, free girls were always a plus. Electro grinned slightly.

“Oh, that one! Do you have dibs then?” He asked. Electro just wanted one chance at her. Then Timeport could do whatever he wanted.

Do I have dibs? Um, duh? “Obviously, considering Corpsemaker gave me the mission.” Timeport teleported his mech closer to Electro. “Unless, of course you want to fight me for her.”

Fight him? For that girl? “Naw, she’s not really my type. But if you’ll let me have one shot at her, I’ll take it.” Electro smiled right at Timeport, ready to Scramble him if this conversation went worse.

Timport pursed his lips within his Mech, then smiled back at Electro. “One shot, then she’s mine.” He felt like he needed to shake Electro’s hand or something, but considering that the mechs were in the way of that--and the fact that Timeport didn’t want to be electrocuted--he ignored the feeling and began porting down to the girl’s address.

Some time later, Timeport stopped and waited for Electro to catch up to him (like always). “This is her street,” Timeport said, pointing down one side of the T intersection that they’d come to. “We need to get in, get through any traps or other powers she might have, and get out.” Then, you get your “one shot,” and I get my time with her. “Ready?”

Sparking Timeport always had to show off his teleporting and time power combo by beating Electro everywhere. He never could arrive before the cocky ax-wielding caveman. His powers weren’t even weapons, just accessories. If Timeport had grown up in the streets, he’d be much more accustomed to fighting. Take away their powers and Electro knew he’d be able to beat Timeport easily. It wouldn’t take more than a moment.

As Electro caught up at the intersection, Timeport relayed the most redundant message Electro had ever heard. He understood how this would work. “Duh. Let’s go.”

  16.

Voidgaze still needs to go on a diet.

Jack... is pretty much fine the way he is, although those strip shows would help.

It might be best if I tweek Lucentia's weakness a bit. Tecnically it would still work but I wasn't all that fond of it anyway, so I might as use staying on the side of caution as an excuse.:P

So what you're saying is, that he really should have taken off his shirt for Reader?:P

  17. Second, a lot of people are curious why Larcener's species comes to destroy people. Maybe i understood things differently, but Larcener kept saying "We are to observe and learn". The problem with him is he came to observe and was so overwhelmed with stimuli, his hatred bled into those he gifted powers. He let the traumatic experience of being born color his entire view of us and our world. My assumption in other realities, those versions of calamity, observed humans, learned what they thought they needed to learn and left. He felt we were all corrupted, but still felt he had to learn something, so was going to stick around till we were all destroyed, leaving nothing left to learn and he could leave. Though the twisted irony is he was so convinced we were irredeemable, he ignored any signs of being wrong which would have let him leave far earlier.

This is the best explanation of that that I've seen so far.

I know trilogies are the holy number, and Sanderson already had to split WoT further, but I really feel that this book should have been titled "Limelight" and the ending is the exatly what it was, less the space-station scene. Add the Larcener reveal to the epilogue, and split the book.

I would have liked that. And think about how cool that cover would look--imagine Calamity's cover, but with one of Prof's glowing green forcefield balls instead of the red explosion thing, and have it lighting up the faint outline of the salty city below it.

  18. Here's my report:

Q: Can you tell us which hemalurgic spike transfers temporal allomancy?

A: No. Well, I could tell you, but I'm not going to.

    Mistborn Secret History spoilers:

Q: Are the IRE old enough to have gone through the Reod?

A: They're really old. Really really really really old. *signs book* Really old.

Then, as I walked passed Isaac, he said "They're like this old," said in a stereotypical old grandpa voice, then in a normal voice "It's almost midnight, that's when the voices come out." :P
