  1. When I read Sanderson novels I really get into the scenes and the characters (don't we all). WoR got me started on something that when I read a particular scene or chapter I add music to it to help get a better perspective (or in some cases) make it way more intense. The Rules are simple Chose any of your favorite scenes from any Cosmere (or non-Cosmere... I'm not picky) novel, and the song you would use with it. The Scene: That moment in WoR when Dalinar descends and we see a little speck in the sky, and realize that things are about go down when Kaladin lands like a boss in front of Szeth. The Song: Protectors of Earth by Thomas Bergersen P.S... bonus points if you can find a scene to fit Bohemian Rhapsody
  2. One idea of a curse I've enjoyed is while working on a book with planes I've used numbers as curses, because people see different planes of existence as different forms of the underworld.
  3. Question, do we have a WoB about if Hoid actually wanted to be a shard? My question, from WoK and WoR we know that there is a way (however unreliable) that someone could basically predict the future. Bearing that in mind I believe that all the shardholders were supposed to be there at the shattering. Man I can't wait to figure out what really happened though, makes me jubilant just thinking about it.
  4. What normal people would do: Win every event at the Olympics Use bendalloy to get higher scores on a test Literally surf the clouds Save the world What I'd do: Use steel and iron to mess with people as they walk by. Probably walk past them and say 'wake up' then put a bendalloy bubble around them and use lightweaving to make myself invisible... Use cadmium to make a boring class go faster. Or zinc to make the class a lot more interesting. Use ten thousand Breaths to make me look epic at a party. Make a stick that talks to me with said Breaths, then have conversations with said sticks at said parties. Although if I really wanted to have some fun I'd just Soulcast everything within a ten mile radius into metal and then call myself the 'SteelFace, Lord of Universe'
  5. So when you say "spren things" do you mean the whole "I give you a boon and a curse" deal? And if so. Does that go with what the Old Magic is? By the way, thanks for replying
  6. Depends. Is the KR protecting anything??? But in all seriousness, I think it's safe to say that a Mistborn has a huge stealth advantage. Which makes sense because that's how they fight, from the shadows. In a full out brawl I believe the KR would win, but give each one time to plan and I think the Mistborn would give the Windrunner a good fight. (Also, could a Knights Radiant survive decapitation? I know that other powers of Investiture i.e gold compounding can do it but would enough Stormlight give that kind of power boost?)
  7. So I have it from a WoB that we have seen Cultivations power already in WoK and WoR. I believe that Cultivation causes normal spren (not special kinds of spren like honor or hatred because those are based off of their respective Shard). Spren like anger spren, joy spren and prison spren. Just an idea but what are your thoughts???
  8. Dude, I love your theory. Yeah sure Reckoners might not be apart of the Cosmere, but I'm impressed you put so much time and effort into your post. Keep it up! Also, it's way to early to say what Kelsier has been up to. I personally think we'll see more of him in Bands of Morning
  9. I thought that the newspaper article was an introduction to Southern Scadrial, (because it's in the Southern roughs) but I don't know all that much about it so I'm sure that I'm wrong. Question: would a Parshendi have the ability to worldhop? Do they have a secret form that allows that or what???
  10. As I was re-reading Warbreaker I noticed something very out of place for BS's writing. It's when Lightsong and Siri were talking about bringing in a storyteller to answer some of her questions about what was going on with the God King Chapter 27 “Watch out for the rocks, Vessel,” the high priest noted. “They look rather insignificant, but have sharp edges under the surface. “Bah,” Lightsong said. “It’s the crocodiles you have to watch for. They can bite. And . . . what exactly were we talking about, anyway?” Sanderson in the past (cough cough WoK) goes to great lengths to make the world seem completely original as possible. The only animal that seems to cross over from time to time is the horse. However, a crocodile? When I noticed that I thought of other examples. Lightsong talking about a red panther in his dream. Hoid talking to Kaladin in prison about bunnies and chicks before telling him the story of Fleet. There might me more. I cannot find them however. The only thought I can have to fathom this is that the shards were from Earth, and as they came to each world they brought the ideas or concepts of animals and plants to their worlds. I have read to many BS books to think that this means nothing. This is my first post! So if I'm doing something terribly wrong please let me know.
  11. I only slay evil dragons... And ones with horribly bad breath

  12. I'm gonna be totally honest, I think every character BS has ever made I both love and hate. Even the characters he makes for us to hate I love, just because I hate them so much. (does that make any sense? it did to me). Characters that some people find a tad aggressive/passive or too pessimistic/optimistic I find refreshing , I read fantasy (especially Sandersons) because I like seeing people I wouldn't normally see, with problems and situations that I would never have. Example.... I would hate Hoid if I didn't love him so much.
  13. To make it truly fair I think everyone needs to be at max power, but considering Kaladin is not, things get more complicated If everyone was at their max power (that we've seen) then Vin/Kaladin/Hrathen would win without a doubt. Vin and Kaladin both have enough mobility to stay away from anyone in team two. Vin vs Raoden: gotta give it to Vin, Raoden might be super powerful in Elantris but he can only hit what he can see, and Roaden (when you look at him) isn't really a soldier. Sure he's good, but he got beaten by his fiance in dueling, you could say the magic could make up for that but he has to draw it first to make it work. Vin vs Denth: It would go to Vin again. Denth's strength lies in his dueling abilities, so as soon as he takes a swing Vin would just push his sword away and beat the snot out of him. Vin vs Eshonai: This one I think would be a tie, I think that given Vin's track record she is known to take a couple of hit's before she's taken out her opponent, but with Eshonai she can't afford to take a hit. So that leaves us with Kaladin and Hrathen. Hrathen would lose to anyone, but (my belief) he would at least do some damage before going down. Of course, we haven't seen what his abilities can fully do yet, so it's hard to tell Kaladin would win vs Eshonai, it would be crazy close, but in the end Kaladin was able to take out a Shardbearer with a broken spear in a panic, give him a moment to evaluate and see, and I think he could win. He might lose a limb or two doing it, but he has the uncanny ability to dodge shardblades like nobodies buisness. Kaladin vs Denth: got to give it to Denth. Denth is stronger and has more experience. If this fight goes one v one for all three on each team, then I think team one would win. Vin would probably go for Denth, Kaladin for Eshonai and Hrathen for Raoden. If the fight goes like that, then team one will win. Because each member is more expierenced at one vs one fighting. However if the fight were to be team vs team with each team sticking together then it would go to team to, because Vin and Kaladin aren't exactly well known for being "team players" and they couldn't take on all of Team Two at once Conclusion Vin is a boss the whole time Hrathen dies early Kaladin loses a limb or two Eshonai get's pushed off a building and crashes to her doom Denth finds out he's an allomancer and the shock is to much for him. Allowing Vin the killing blow and Raoden reads some books. All in all, the shards would tremble if this fight were to happen
  14. I agree with Arook, since we don't know all that much (cough cough hardly anything). I think that Hoid does see what he is doing as good, which might not seem good to other people. A popular topic I like to converse is the idea that Hoid may actually be the main antagonist in Sanderson's ending series. I don't have much evidence to back up this theory, but I don't think that it's such a crazy idea that it wouldn't be true. Taking in what we know Hoid really is a neutral character. We've seen him do good things sure but we don't know if he's done any bad things in the name of what he considers 'good'. So what I'm really trying to say here is I have absolutely no idea what Hoid is doing and I'm super excited to find out. And I would not be disappointed if he were a major antagonist. I'm also new so could someone let me know how I'm doing?
  15. I don't disagree with any of your arguments, but I do think your not giving Szeth as much credit as he deserves. One: Nightblood: can disintegrate matter instantly and improves the abilities of the user greatly, (even though it drains investure) This would basically kill off most people he fights because all he has to do is touch them once with Nightblood and they're puffing off in black smoke. That alone is awesome but with the added abilites of Two: He's probably (60%ish) going to have some kind of special abilities to go along with his new weapon. Nalan basically says Szeth is "skybreaker" material and from what we know of the surges they have they can change gravity (fly) and make things... divide... Add these up and you've got a guy that can fly and disintegrate his opponent. That and if the person he is fighting has any kind of evil in them at all, he just needs to let them pick up the sword and the fights over. Still, there's no way to prove anything until we get more on the full backstory of Szeth. Most of the opponents mentioned already have their full abilities explained and measured. Szeth does not, so that makes it difficult to say what he can do.
