  1. May have been posted already, since I didn't go through all 28 pages of posts, but I noticed on the map of Alethkar in WoK that the pattern of the Shattered Plains is clearly visible. Thought this was a fun "easter egg" that I would have never thought twice about until after WoR. Edit: Going back through the other maps in WoK, the pattern is also in the Kharbranth map and forms the compass in the black and white map of Roshar. There's also multiple patterns in the Frostlands map connected together with "travel" lines (maybe?).
  2. Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I've always been a Tolkien fan, but started branching out into other fantasy writers over the past year. My first big non-Tolkien series was Tad Williams' Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn, and then I started Way of Kings this past fall. I've since sped through Elantris and the Mistborn trilogy, finishing Words of Radiance a few days ago. I've really enjoyed Brandon's work, and am planning on reading more of the Cosmere novels next. I've made a few posts already, but just wanted to say that I've really enjoyed reading through a number of theory posts and have learned quite a bit already. Looking forward to reading more in the weeks to come!
  3. Doesn't Taln still have super speed when saving Amaram from the Ghostbloods? I think that indicates he still has the Honorblade, wouldn't it? At that point in the story, hadn't Dalinar already bonded with the blade in the cave?
  4. I am, one is Galladon and another is Demoux, but the identity of the third is still unknown, correct?
  5. Yes, I know that one. I just searched the board and didn't find anything connecting these dots, so I thought to mention it.
  6. I've found the Interludes to contain much more than I originally thought in re-reads, and went back to this mysterious interlude after finishing WoR. Could the man the three travelers be looking for (Hoid/Roamer) be the same as Lunu'anaki? Both have angular faces and white hair, and Rock describes him as a travel god, which Roamer might also designate. "Lunu’anaki,” Rock said, “is god of travel and mischief. Very powerful god. He came from depths of peak ocean, from realm of gods." Could the small oceans there be the pools there be the portals between the worlds?
  7. Ok, so I haven't finished WoR yet, but went back to the prologue in Wok and picked up on a number of resemblances between the battlefield there and the Shattered Plains. Perhaps this is revealed later in the book, but if not, could the two be the same? Edit: Well not much of a theory in there, it was late and I was excited. Here is some more of the explanation. In the Prologue, I first noticed that the descriptions of the battlefield could be construed as the Shattered Plains: rocky stone ridge, a plain of misshapen rock and stone, natural pillars, few plants, ridges and mounds bore scars and were shattered where Surgebinders had fought, cracked hollows where thunderclasts had emerged. Given the millennia which have passed since then and the frequency of the highstorms, these scars and hollows could have been dug out further. And then this line, "The place of meeting was in the shadow of a large rock formation, a spire rising into the sky." Could this be the spire in the middle of the Plains, where the Parshendi Five had met? Perhaps this is completely obvious to everyone, or is revealed obviously in the couple hundred pages left in WoR that I haven't read yet. In any case, I got excited at the potential light bulb going off in my head, and wouldn't have ever made the connection without the line about the spire rising in the sky. If the theory is right, I'm also beginning to wonder about the fate of the Honorblades, and if they might be found beneath some hardened crem in the Parshendi camp?
  8. I just reached page 601 of WoR in chapter 52, and had to scratch my head. How does Kaladin know Szeth's name? And when did they have a conversation about Lashing? Did I miss something?
