Hey guys. My name is Helena and I'm a geologist with a deep fascination with fantasy books. After being introduced tot he Mistborn series (which I read during my Honours year) I rapidly burned through the rest of Brandon's books and found this lovely place.

    So hi everyone. ^^

  4. This I agree with. Chemically speaking it shouldn't matter where the metals came from they should have the same atomic structure wherever one is. The only reason I could see this not working if the metals on Scadrial were changed slightly by Preservation to make them burnable. Since shape is important the pure metals like tin should be the same, and the alloys should have the same ratio of metals as well. Unless of course there was intervention on the Shards behalf. If that's the case then taking your own metals with you before you Worldhop would be pretty easy to do, as mentioned previously you don't use much at a time. And if you were leaving your world for whatever reason I imagine you would take metals with you anyway, just in case. A problem with this though would be running out over time, bring us back to the can-other-worlds-metals-work-for-Allomancy-too question.

  6. And on the note of death being cheap in WOR, only Szeth died. We never got confirmation on Jasnah and Gaz's deaths since we never saw a body. As far as we know neither actually died it was just heavily implied they did. So they at least are consistent with the rules.
  7. Is there a reason the hardcover is not available in the store anymore? I was waiting to be paid and will be really sad if I've missed out on having a physical copy since I don't have a kindle or anything.
  8. And on the note of Divine Breath, IIRC in Daliner's visions before Honours death there was no Stormlight in the villages he visited. He noted their use of oil lamps and called it primitive. Does that imply there was no stormlight during the Desolations or were there just no ways to capture it then? If the former could Stormlight be where Honour's power went, similar to Divine Breath, put there by either Honour himself or by the Stormfather. Since to become a Sliver he needs to have held the power and given it up it could be that after Honour died he took up the power and dropped it in the Highstorms as a way to protect it. It could account for the magical aspect of the Highstorms.
  9. And as WoB stated, there are several orders that wouldn't have a problem with what Adolin did to Sadeas. So it's not too much of a stretch to assume that there would be orders ok with assassins.
  10. I can't wait to see what you thought of the end of part 3, cause that was the point I was done with the book and had to skip ahead to make sure it was ok. At the time my reaction was similar but with hindsight I felt a lot of schadenfreude listening to these reactions. Especially when you mentioned how much you like Tyn right before the twist. XD
