  1. Following your thread title, I'd like to add just this for now: Darkness/Nalan is part of a bigger group. Can't quote it right now, but this is hinted in the prologue, just after Jasnah meets with her assassin.
  2. I love the idea about Jasnah possibly having gone to Scadrial -> get a gun -> use a handy bandolier. One point I'd like to make is that Soulcasting needs specific gem types for the material you intend to change an item into. Going through a pouch to find what you need wastes time. So, segregating spheres for specific soulcasting needs might be a good reason to utilize a bandolier.
  3. I like this Fleet=Honor theory. @name_here Rather than a metaphor (which you seem to be interpreting literally), how about Wit's story being the legend of where the highstorms/Stormfather came from. The initial storm vs Fleet was simply Odium vs Tanavast whose spirit managed to live on (in a manner of speaking) after his death as the Stormfather
  4. Reading "Torol" or "Meridas" in WoR truly surprised me that I never wondered whether they had a first name back in WoK.
  5. @those doubting Taln's identity: Hoid being there upon Taln's arrival in Kholinar back in WoK is proof enough for me.
  6. I might have mentioned this before in another thread, but I'm not convinced "the look" of a shardblade determines what type of spren it is, nor does this in turn define what Order the holder is compelled/limited to join. What does that mean about the flame-looking shardblades? They get simple flamespren for a Nahel bond? (assuming the holder reawakens the spren, that is)
  7. Lots of amusing musings! Static characters are boring. Jasnah will need to show her romantic side sometime. I approve a love-square.
  8. Gonna echo everyone else and say I believe Eshonai survived that fall. Possible reason why Mr. S threw her off the cliff? To separate her from the herd of red-eyed voidbringers and likely bring her into the hands of the escaped listeners. Maybe they could then exorcise the stormspren from her, or something. Likely less difficult if they found her injured from the fall and subsequent wet and wild experience through chasm-flood-rapids.
  9. It's practically unanimous now. Adolin will revive his Shardblade, get a spren and become a Knight Radiant. I don't believe that the whole vine-y appearance of the blade, and the likely type of spren he gets immediately decides what Order he'll be joining. What happens then to KR that bind more than one spren? (possible according to WoB) It's always about the person's qualities. He's a very obedient son, and I think he'll be a great Dustbringer. 1. Adolin has lots of good reason why he should kill Sadeas. 2. Adolin has wanted to kill Sadeas for a very long time. 3. Dalinar agrees that Sadeas must pay for everything. 4. Sadeas himself set up the perfect opportunity. 5. Sadeas goaded Adolin to the snapping point. 6. It wasn't an unfair fight. They were unarmed save a single knife between them. Sadeas is a fat, old bastard and Adolin is still injured. If you think about it, the singular bad part here is he didn't do it according to the law and he will likely get away with it.
  10. Not contributing much here, but Jasnah is thirty-plus. Beautiful, of course, but has a matronly air. Kaladin is twenty... If Jasnah's personality gets fleshed out as having womanly feelings after all when she gets her first look at a glowing, floating young man... then that'd be a very interesting read.
  11. The compass in the black-and-white version drawn by Isasik Shulin shows North, South, Stormward and Leeward. There's lots of references to east and west in the book though, so that might just be for style. There are the interesting numbers at the edge of the frame, however. I doubt it's latitude or longitude measurements. Rosharians haven't shown any consideration yet that their planet is spherical.
  12. Hello, hello! I've been lurking around in the past, and likely will again when Life bares it fangs, bites my chull and hauls me away into busy-ness once more. I only finally made an account due to the awesomeness that is Stormlight Archive's second installation: Words of Radiance and my need to discuss everything about it. I've read all Brandon Sanderson's published works aside from Alcatraz, and I'm deeply in love with the Cosmere. He is my favorite author, and that's a wonder, considering that philosophical sci-fi is my favorite genre (though I've read most of the fantasy novels you can name). I'm also a computer-game geek and have recently gotten into tabletop roleplaying. I shamelessly admit these to explain that the top reason I love Mr. Sanderson's work is his amazing skill in world-building.
  13. According to WoB, you can't bond an honorblade, though it can be given away. Taln never left his behind, and he's too out of it to give his away, so I think he still has it - either dematerialized for now or is lying around elsewhere, unbond-able but easily recoverable if Taln ever gains enough wits to resummon it.
  14. With pressure (adhesion) and tension surges, at first I imagined bondsmiths could turn charcoal into diamond. They'll be able to make stormlight storage easy among other cool stuff. But then, that's just a physical manifestation of their power. What about cognitive and spiritual? The same way Shallan *might* have transformed a ragtag band of deserters into protectors, I imagine Bondsmiths *might* be able to unite and reforge a group of people.
  15. You're right. I made the assumption he wanted to train real, Knight-Radiant-type Skybreakers. Which was wrong. I had to reread the interlude with Lift to find this part after he caught her the second time: So, he's a Radiant-hunter, having also killed Ym. His minions seem to be simple, ordinary thugs, like the one that slit Gawx's throat. Reviving Szeth and taking him in is likely a unique event and not regular recruitment procedure.
