  1. To me what makes the most sense is the Radiant and Spren becoming kinda-sorta one being. (Unsure exactly to what extent that is, if it's just "incredibly in-tune-with-each-other partnership" or if it's "This knight's cognitive aspect *is* their spren. They are one and the same now.") The bond is two-way, so the final realization of it should be important for both the spren and the knight. For the spren, the big benefit is being able to exist in the physical realm, and this kind of bond would be the ultimate manifestation of that. The benefit for the knight would be passive use of the surges, like we see spren use, and like we see fused use. I also do think that yes, this makes it as difficult for the knight to break their oaths as it is for spren, because now they are their oaths

  2. They're ADORABLE, I love them. YKYASW you have spent hundreds of dollars on your Sanderson collection and it's theoretically worth thousands?? (Book collecting is wild, man.) When there has been a magnet of Shallan saying "I am plotting tax evasion" on your whiteboard for like a year. When you met some of the people most dear to you in the world on this website.

  5. Correct reasoning!! I was born in the state of California, but my parents and grandparents wanted me to be a Texas kid. So my grandmother came from out of state with a sealed test tube of Texas soil, and got permission to place it underneath the operating table. Hence the phrasing.

  15. Got it completed and turned in. My next project was writing the code for a recurrent neural network to analyze HVAC data and make temperature recommendations. That one was a headache and I've been working on it alone for two days, but I'll be graded on quality of work and thought process, not completion. That was due yesterday and I submitted it. My next project today is fix the family bicycles and study for my final exams on Thursday and Friday, which thankfully I don't have to stress about. If I did my math right, I'll still pass even if I only get 50% on them. Oh perhaps, but even procrastinators can eventually get things done. Despite being a rather consistent procrastinator, I'm about to get my Bachelor's degree. Sure, I'm getting it 5-8 years after the rest of my high school class, but I'm still getting it (COVID put some huge detours in my planned route). In my case, my degree is in a field that wasn't even taught 5 years ago and my college still hasn't updated some of their webpages to acknowledge that it's a field of study. Not every time, but sometimes taking the long scenic route still can have things work out, since I wouldn't have been able to even study what I ended up studying.

  16. I think it can still have merit to the degree that as his bond increased, the number he could draw did increase (Some in the Chasms learning in WoR, More fighting Szeth (after third oath), even more turning the Highstorm Winds to protect the captured humans, etc. )it's just that they were not being pulled from Shadesmar, but from the environment (and were therefore a different group each time - until he was able to form Plate). Well, with a possible side of "Some Surges are limited by the level of Oaths." (such as Skybreakers cannot access Division until the Third Oath) This, of course, relies on the interpretation that Squires (whom are First Oath - without a bond) are "borrowing" the Third Oath abilities of their Radiant; which is distinctly different from First Oath Kaladin in WoK, and partly different from Second Oath Kaladin in WoR.

  23. Spoilers for all of Mistborn Era 2 I recently reread The Alloy of Law, and I was somewhat stunned by a particular line said by Miles about the tenants of survivorism: To me, this sounds almost word for word what autonomy requires of her followers. Ruthless self determinism and the need to prove yourself through individual survival. These tenants also seem far removed not only from Kelsier's actual beliefs, but from the origins of survivorism in the final empire. This may just be due to the obvious shifts in the religion due to power structures within their society, but it seems so similar to the tenants of autonomy that it stuck out to me.

  24. Ah, makes sense! This gave me an idea. What if you added 1 breath to a piece of laminated paper? And maybe you could put different symbols, like I dont know, the faces of past Monarchs on them to denote higher value paper? A completely original idea, I know.

  40. I think the person who worte that part of the article jumped to an unsupported conclusion. We know that Windspren gather around Kaladin as early as WoR, but we have no indication that it is the same group of Windspren in each instance - and I cannot find a WoB or any other reference that says they are the same thoughout multiple scenes (until after the plate has been formed). I'll ask the Coppermind Keepers. . .

  42. Absurd theory? In SA5, Kaladin encounters Moash and hits him with such supercharged lashings that Moash is launched into space... Moash soars through the inter-planetary space in the direction of Scadrial... Resulting in the first line of Mistborn era three : "Moash fell from the sky."

  43. Tbf, what does it mean "her children who aren't in line"? They are in line. If the heir dies (her brother) and all sisters as well, then if only Vivenna had kids, her kids will inherit the throne. That's it. They're in line whether they like it or not. Even if they gave up the throne, they can still inherit it if they change their mind and circumstances are right. Denth had them, he is related to Vivenna and Siri. No. People have Royal Locks because of genetics, they are descendants of the First Returned Vo. If you don't have those genes, you can't have Royal Lock. I guess people who are distant descendants of Vo, but not in line to the throne and don't have Royal Locks, can likely activate them with sufficient training. Vasher told Vivenna that she can learn to change more than hair color and their length, others not closely related to the royal family can do the same if they know their heritage.

  44. Odium/Toadium- I win this contest of champions!!!! Dalinar- NOOOO!!!! A blazing white figure fell down from darkest skies, like a falling star, like the heralds from Tranquiline halls. A brilliant Shardspear gleamed brighter than the sun, brighter than the day ever saw and his body scintillated with hundred thousand pinpricks of light, like stars illuminating the blackest night. His eyes smoldered as the birth and death of star, brighter and brighter until pure white energy wafted over his skin- Almighty's true essence. And when he spoke, it wasn't Stormlight that puffed from his lips. Kaladin (giving some signature pose) - I.....AM.....HONOR! The Stormfather grumbled in surprise- Oh, damn....I have been missing that all along!
