so ive been going to art tutions and you know what? art is kinda fun when you kind of know what youre doing and i need the practice so i decided to search up pictures online and imitate them here 1. i will not lie- this is a little bit filtered. i decreased the saturation and incresed the shadows, but mainly to add to the moody aesthetic of the painting its not that bad is it?

Truth I have always thought that it is better to be realistic than to hope or dream. I have recently had reality slapped in my face because on my own I was having a hard time accepting it. So what if being realistic takes away the few things that bring me happiness within this fleshy, mortal, societal, cognitive prison of mine? It is better to understand what is real and what is fantasy. It protects me from future agony. I would rather I understand rationally how life must progress as opposed to hoping and dreaming until the very last moment when I am dropped into the abyss. It is better to be prepared, to understand how my life will proceed instead of wanting. Wanting? Hope? Dreams? I must cast them aside. They are not achievable. I must be done with them. Why doesn’t it make me feel better? Please… stop.

Several years back, I got a new job in Utah and moved out here to my current residence. I did a bit of looking around and found a nice place to stay, and when Sunday came around I headed off to church at the local ward. Imagine my shock when I saw famous webcomic author (and Brandon's Writing Excuses co-host) Howard Tayler walk in and sit down a few pews away! So... yeah. I'm in the same ward as him.

this is what ulaam tells tress for why he's unconcerned of the ship sinking. but is it true? As a kandra, I suppose he could seal his body cavities, be perfectly dry so the spores don't set off. Ok. Then he has to walk through the bottom of the ocean. I'm not sure how difficult it would be, how much resistance the spores would exhert. heck, the pressure alone may crush him. But ok. he still has to breathe. As far as I know, kandras suffocate like anyone else without air, though they can get creative with their breathing apparatus. the spore oceans have air that keep them fluid, yes. Although how he can breathe that without also taking in a lot of spores is beyond me. And in any creature I know, the gas exchange requires some humid surface. But assume that he can breathe the air through the spores what about the seethe? the air flow will stop at random times, and the spores become solid. ulaam will be encased in solid sand. maybe even for a day. how does he plant to breathe? finally, there is the rain. Suppose it rains above him - which, since he will walk slowly and will take a lot of time to get out of the crimson, will be a near certainty - the spores will grow, then sink. Ulaam would get crushed by a solid wall of interlocked spikes. That would completely shatter his bones, immobilizing him. It may even mangle his body in many parts, separating his spikes from him. there is also the life support issue. as far as I know, kandras need to eat and drink like everyone else. they may be able to survive longer by slowing their methabolism, maybe become smaller and eat some of their excreted biomass to sustain themselves, but for how long? we're talking weeks and weeks without any drop of water. kandras have all manner of nifty shapeshifting abilities. But they do still need to breathe, eat, and drink. crushing them under a great pressure immobilizes them, making them more susceptible to the aforementioned life support issue. physical damage may even make them lose their spikes, disabling them. They are not immortal. How does ulaam plan to survive walking on the bottom of the ocean for a prolonged time? unless he's also invested, but we have no evidence for it.

Sorry for double posting I couldn't sleep last night, so I decided to finish my drawing of Michael from the Magnus Archives He's uncolored, and I took a bit of a risk drawing over the pencil with pen, but I think it turned out nice I also finished TMA season four, and it just about killed me for a number of reasons

I am not sure that storing A-pewter strength in F-pewter, or A-pewter health in F-gold, or A-tin senses in F-tin, is really what people have meant in the past by "reverse compounding". That term (which I think is a fanon one) seems to mean what TLR did to get the Allomantic strength he displayed (Soothing hundreds of thousands of people) when his "essential Allomantic strength" was the same as Elend's. The A-tin storing in F-tin or A-pewter storing in F-gold trick just gives you more senses or health, not more Allomantic strength. Before TLM I couldn't even see what powering Allomancy with Feruchemy could mean, since Allomancy's end-positive and fueled from an unlimited source (Preservation). It didn't seem like adding a new power source would help (it does with Feruchemy since Feruchemy is end-neutral). But we see in TLM that liquid Investiture allows Mistings to use their Allomancy at much greater than usual strength. That kind of surprises me - I'd thought Allomantic strength's upper limit was set by the Allomancer, since Preservation is an unlimited source - but I suppose if the Allomancer's Physical body is taking in liquid Investiture, then their Spiritual ability to draw from Preservation isn't relevant. So given that Allomantic strength isn't a limit if you have a new power source, "powering Allomancy with Feruchemy" could genuinely be useful since the peak rate of draw is much higher in Feruchemy (it would be kind of like duralumin's Allomantic boost but more controllable). The problem is that no metalmind seems to store "Allomantic strength" as such. Even nicrosil in medallions stores discrete powers, not a 'pool' of strength. But the Bands do seem to have a pool of strength, since Wax says their Investiture stores are "running low" - so maybe there are two ways to use f-Nicrosil. The other question is whether there's a way to "hack" the system to store a coppercloud instead of memories in a coppermind, or an Ironpull instead of weight in an ironmind.

We're told there's a complex ecosystem at the bottom of the spore seas. While I suppose that might all be microscopic, if there are any larger animals, Ulaam could easily kill and then replicate one, which would provide him the perfect tools for surviving down there. That's assuming he doesn't already have a plan in place. Based on everything we've heard about the spore seas, I imagine that a well designed reptilian body with a body-plan than maximizes buoyancy could swim in it, allowing him to stay near the surface. Think some combination of turtle and snake. I don't know if kandra can make scales, exactly, but they can probably make a watertight replacement for skin and the transparent layer some snakes have over their eyes. I think in general, if a creature bigger than a rabbit can survive in a given environment, I'd put odds on Kandra being able to survive there too. It really just comes down to what initial resources they need for a body.

Do lightspren/Reachers recognize the name lightspren? Are Cryptics the only one that don't have a commonly used -spren name? I don't think "liespren" is commonly used even by non-Cryptics, and actually I don't think Jasnah meant that "liespren" was a proper name for Cryptics. I think it was something she was using to explain what they were to Shallan since every other spren type Shallan would know about is named <thing they're attracted to>-spren and Cryptics tend to be attracted to people lying to themselves. Doesn't she say something like 'you can call them liespren' or something else a bit less definitive? The <whatever>spren naming convention does seem to be used differently, and inconsistently, for sapient spren though. Honorspren are attracted to honorable people (by their definition), but the others either don't fit the "attracted to X" scheme at all (highspren, ashspren) or only metaphorically/symbolically (cultivationspren, inkspren). Honor/cultivationspren are presumably named after the Shards primarily, anyway. Others seem named based on their appearance (highspren being sky like, ashspren being burning). The Nightwatcher has no obvious connection to either night or watching.

So I just found out I'm going to be able to go on a music internship in NYC in a couple of months!! I'll be shadowing a professional jazz pianist/arranger and working in a recording and sound-mixing studio!
