The thing with Inktober is that I can sit back and see the art of some really skilled people in the Creator's Corner, and enjoy them without having to draw anything myself. In the visual art, I am not the most skilled. I have made some somewhat impressive things in the past, but nothing in the style or on the level of what these people are doing. I would never have the artistic dedication and skill to do something like Inktober, so I really enjoy seeing all of what other people come up with. It's really fun. Now, if they had a month where there was a writing prompt for every day...

Do you think if Wax spikes himself both with Trellium and Harmony's earing, the two Shards will be able to talk to each other while "in his head"? Or will he just be a sort of an ambassador between the two?

I wouldn't say confirm, but the case for Autonomy is pretty strong, particularly given that Trellium (Stormlight Archive spoiler): Also, does Harmony want Wax to spike himself with Trellium (so he can talk to Trell, I guess)? I can't think of another option for the "proper metal"

Uhhhh... Hopefully I'm not gonna make too much of a habit of staying up super late for this...... For day 2, I combined both the Cosmere and the official prompts: Weapon and Scurry For Weapon, there's a sword, and for Scurry, there's a lot of spiders. If you don't like spiders...probably don't look at this.

Day Two: Scurry Today’s subject is Pheonix! (Yes, I spelled that correctly; it’s his name) I don’t know what he’s running from (or to) so I guess you can think of that on your own! I apologize for the drop in quality between number one and number two, but I figured that I should at least have a few drawings that challenge me, and this was definitely one of them (and I’ll warn you right now that the next one is hard too). This was an incredibly difficult pose for me, partially just because of scale; the paper I work with for Inktober is much smaller than my normal drawings and I’m the type of person who likes to draw BIG. But ultimately, I am happy with how it turned out under the circumstances. As always, here’s the sketch for it.

This is probably the coolest thing i've ever drawn (a little bit spoilers for Words of Radience but not that bad): Except i can't figure out how to color in the sky :( any suggestions for beginners from the artistically inclined would be greatly appreciated. Also this counts as inktober day two (gonna go with the Cosmere inktober prompt, weapon, because they do not look like they are scurrying). I started it because i was sad that i couldn't get the statue of them from the kickstarter, but i actually like this better because i can still display it and i know that i put work into it and can be proud of it. ...... still want the statue tho Since i'm already making an SU, here's day three: Sorry for blasting you guys with art SUs, I'll stop now lol

Day Three: Bat If you're anything like me, then the first thing you think of when you hear the word "bat" is the small winged creature often associated with vampires. However, if you think a little longer, then you'll remember that "bat" as a verb means to hit. And that's exactly what happened to miss Riva. If you've read Masquerade (shameless plug for my novel) then you remember when, at the second ball, Riva was slapped and thrown into the mud. Poor thing. EXCEPT NOT POOR THING BECAUSE RIVA IS A TERRIBLE PERSON! But she is fun to write. Sorry this post came out late, I didn't create time in my morning to do it. But it's here now! Have a nice day! And I'll give you a hint, tomorrow's drawing is a m a z i n g.

That's why it was my favorite of the batch. edit: I played around with that image a bit more in Stable Diffusion and wanted to share the coolest one IMO. I've been doing nothing but generating images all weekend... send help.

Hello! I'm Axe, back at it again with another month of daily art. I'm a bit behind already, since I had no time on the first day, but by tomorrow I should be nice and caught up. For this challenge, I'm drawing a different scene for each prompt, following someone's adventure. I chose to draw a white wolf for this. Here's the prompt list if you want to follow along at all: The website won't let me upload my day one for some reason, so I'll try again tomorrow. Let's hope.

*club music* Are y’all as HYPED as I am?! I’ll admit what you already know; last year Inktober was a bit of a failure for me. But I am back to tackle this challenge once again. I’ve done it successfully twice before and I have no intention of backing down after one mishap. The official prompt list came out on September 1st, and I have worked hard since then to plan and prepare for drawings that will be fun and challenging, but not so ambitious that I get anxious - which is what happened last year. I just hope that y’all will enjoy seeing the final products as much as I enjoy the process. My current plan is to draw everything a day early so that I can post my art when I wake up in the morning. That might not happen every day, but that’s the goal. I am so excited to share my Inktober journey with you guys! (PS: here are some sneak peeks of my art this year)

Unfortunately, we would prefer if you reworked your character into the new character sheet format. We will all be doing so and encouraging even established characters to reformat (though not re-approve - fear not established members!) their sheets to conform to the new style. If you're having any trouble or questions please do ask us, either here or in the Character Discussion thread, which is built exactly for character questions. Guild creation can be done via PMs to members or, also quite easily, right here! If you want to pitch your Guild idea, simply use the categories on the Guild Sheet to let everyone know what you're thinking, and if anyone is interested they will let you know! We may actually create a new Guild thread, though I am not positive about that, and it would probably be a next-Era thing anyway. So for now, here would be the best place to crowd-source your new members. It's wonderful to get some new enthusiasm about the place after a slow season. We are so glad you're here!

Thanks to Argent for suggesting downsizing the images, turns out the Shard doesn't like things that are close to 8000x4000 pixels at 300 DPI. Day one: Day two:

Random thoughts: I wondered if we were meant to recognize what the "chasm" with a fallen ancient bridge spanning it might have been from the Fallen Empire. Like, maybe it's a section of one of the "dry canals" from Urteau ("streetslots")? It was, after all, the site of one of the "storage caverns" in which people rode out the Catacendre (including Spook, the Lord Mistborn himself). The Cycle had four spikes, one Trellium (removing which alone was enough to kill him); what were the other three? For hemalurgic stealing of Metalborn powers - F-gold, F-pewter, and ...what else? The Cycle must not have had a lot of health stored up (no Compounding, or pre-filled metalminds like a Set operative like Kelesina had, that Wayne inherited for a while in BoM) - it should have been able to heal from a gunshot wound to the head a lot faster than Marasi could find, and then to dig out the Trellium spike from his body. Though as Marasi noted, he didn't seem very practiced in the use of Feruchemy, so maybe he'd only acquired the spikes very recently.

It also makes me wonder why Hoid is a carriage driver. Is he looking to overhear information? Is he waiting for the right person to be in his carriage at the right moment? Could it be Steris he is looking for or waiting for her to have the right moment? Wax often can fly away home and wont need a carriage, so maybe Wit and Steris are having conversations or are going to have important talks in the future? I for one would love it if it were Steris that saves the planet in the end through the forbidden art of contingency planning.

Scene #73: I meant to tell you.

I had always pinned Cultivation + Odium as Malignance - partly for the cancer implications around growth and spreading/metastasizing, but also the colloquial use of the word which can also mean "passionately and relentlessly malevolent - aggressively malicious". The Genocide take is an interesting one I had not considered, thinking about taking something like Eugenics and then putting it into practice forcefully. Though I'll say I could see depending on the Vessel and its interpretation that Cultivation all on its own could be inclined towards something like Eugenics - rather scary to consider. I would think Genocide could be a more likely combo of Cultivation + Dominion though.

If you feel tired and that you have exams soon, go to sleep. Being sleepy in class/exam will harm you more than not having done all your work. I'm dead serious. I never thought TLPW would host this kind of discussion, but here we are.

Day One: Gargoyle For the uninitiated, this may seem like a strange piece of art regarding the prompt. And… I’ll warn you right now, I have taken great liberties when it comes to following these prompts. I believe they are there to inspire, not dictate. But tangent aside, I do believe this woman, Avilaine, to be gargoyle-like in that she is absolutely grotesque in character. Here’s some of the drawing process.

The original was "warrior in glowing blue carapace armor with cape, 4k, high fantasy, trending in artstation, oil on steel" in DALL E 2 For the second one I used "style of Michael Whelan" in Stable Diffusion locally installed. I turned the noise down a ton and turned up the sampling in the img2img section. For those that don't know, Michael Whelan is an excellent fantasy and scifi artist who does lots of illustrating for Brandon's (and many others) books. edit: Technically wrong forum, but I assume this will get moved at some point. Mistborn Era 4?

The word "gargoyle" just strikes me as grumpy, and I couldn't shake the idea of a hunchback either. I ended up settling on this fella.

Towerlight has special properties - the Sibling needs it. Warlight could be used for something involving corrupted spren, as they are a hybrid of Odium and Honor.

LG87: Aftermath - The Ultimate Killer When Ancy awoke, he only remembered his name, and those beautiful shimmering rainbows. The memory of that place quickly faded away, but in its place, something else began to grow. Ancy admired his body in the reflection provided in a large body of water. It was beautiful. Perfectly toned, and a striking visage. He didn't know specifically how he had gotten here, or why he looked like this. But he did know one thing. He turned his eyes upon the city he saw nearby. He wanted... to inflict death. He smiled. ~ Over the next few weeks, he formed a Cult. A secret cult, who worshipped him and his designs. He heard things about political unrest and whatnot, but he did not care about any of that. And so, secretly, he and the people who joined him eliminated person after person, causing chaos in the city. Their group was so small that they were never noticed. Until it was far too late, and the city of Hallendren had already fallen into pieces. ~ The last infiltrator stormed the castle. He had to kill the last important Royal for his mission to be complete. According to his information, he was so, so close. Unfortunately for him, he got caught, and hanged. The Royal family survived, as did the King. The Revolutionaries were also rooted out, and thrown into jail for conspiracy against the crown. With the Royalist hawks having been essentially wiped out, that left only the Royalist Dove faction to advise the king. So, even as the city began to fall apart due to the antics of the Cult of Colors, the government of Hallendren reached out to other countries in order to end the Manywar. It remained to be seen how effective the policy would be, but surely it would be better than all out war. And so, this chapter of unrest closed upon the city of Hallendren. With international relations stabilized, the government would have to deal with the Cult. But... it might have already been too late... ~~~ Clanky (1): Archer Archer (5): Stick, JNV, Luck, Ash, Araris Archer was exed! He was a Foreign Infiltrator infiltrating the Followers of Edgli! 2 new commands were discovered. Protect [Player], at 45 breath, and Fetch Papers, at 70 breath. 6 commands have been discovered and the game can end! The game is over! The Cult of Colors, Royalist Doves, and Followers of Edgli have won! The Cult of Colors successfully matched sizes or were bigger than all other factions! The Royalist Doves successfully kept a single Royal alive, outnumbered the Hawks, and another faction won! The Followers of Edgli successfully kept a Returned alive! In fact, none of the 3 returned ever even got attacked... The Royalist Hawks lose due to not having any players left alive in the faction. The Adjuncts of the Scholars lose due to not having enough breath. JNV successfully collected 103 breath, and Stick collected 75, but no member had over 200. The Foreign Infiltrators lose due to not killing all the Royals, and not outnumbering anybody. The Revolutionaries lose for similar reasons. Here are the links for all the documents.
