  16. I had an idea for a book! its gonna be a medieval fantasy, romance book and the main will be about war and its effects, and what it feels like to fall in love for the first time when you're young. This is basically the idea that I though, and of course I'll refine. But for now, this is it.- Elias is a young man who is sent off to war by his family, who can no longer afford to feed him. There he meets someone who catches his eye. Elias ends up being a cunning, intelligent boy, who has the potential to be a great warrior. But he doesn’t want to be, he doesn’t want any of this. Elias now has to cope with an ever growing attraction towards his fellow soldier, while dealing with his general who tries to manipulate him for his own advancement. How's this look?

  18. I'd resurrect the other thread, but I might get in trouble if I decide to do that every 12 months. Besides, it seems kind of silly in retrospect when we already have this one, so here goes. The best 10 songs I found that came out in 2021: 1. In Hell We Live, Lament - Mili 2. Hadashi no Step - LiSA 3. One Last Kiss - Utada Hikaru 4. Manners - Band-Maid 5. Bulbel - Mili 6. "M" Revolution - Unlucky Morpheus 7. Surprise - LiSA 8. Fiction - Polkadot Stingray 9. Darken - Zutomayo 10. Messenger in Flames - Cepheid The best 10 songs I found in 2021 but that came out before: 1. Dokuhaku - Maaya Sakamoto 2. sustain++; - Mili (technically listened to this one last year, but it kind of fell into oblivion after the first time. This year I became obsessed with it) 3. Haru wa Yuku - Aimer 4. Summoning 101 - Mili (the fastest I've gone from 0 to a tear shower (just under 3 minutes)) 5. FATE - Band-Maid (all of World Domination really) 6. Komm Susser Todd - Arianne (same as sustain++; but all the way back in 2015) 7. Odore Ophelia - Feuille Morte/RD-Sounds (one of those names is the artist name. Couldn't figure out which. This song is obscure, it's not even on youtube anymore) 8. world.search(you); - Mili 9. Standstill - Poets of the Fall 10. Dear Alice - Arai Tasuku And the best 10 background themes from a soundtrack, which all happen to be from video games: 1. Spiral of Erebos - The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III 2. Dark Beast Ganon Battle (spoilers for final boss I guess) - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 3. Great Power - The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 4. Make Me Feel Sad - Dragon Quest V 5. Harmonious - Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights (composed by Mili) 6. Triumphant Return - Epilogue - Dragon Quest VII 7. Pledge of Demon - Yakuza 0 8. Twilight Green Passage - The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel IV 9. Bewitching Dance - Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate 10. Severe Blow - The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II Special mention here to Morimiya is Okay from Tokyo Xanadu. It was my number 10 but I wanted a CS2 theme just to round things up so it had to be sacrificed. This is also the year when I just had to accept that Mili is my current favorite band. It was evident before but the more I listen to, the more obvious it becomes. I really recommend it, they make some weird stuff in terms of the lyrics actually fitting into a melody sometimes, but it's great. They go from crude reality to sci-fi to fantasy to a mix of all three like it's nothing. You could make a compilation of their lyrics and sell it as a short story collection. It's also probably worth mentioning Vivid Undress as probably best discovery of a band? Spotify does a weird thing where if a playlist/album is over it just goes on playing whatever it thinks I might like. The thing was right, I listened to a few of their songs and they're storming great. Parareru wa (or something) particularly stayed with me. I love discovering bands like this, it's like an adventure. It happened almost at the end of the year so I'm excited to listen to all of their stuff. I'll also be checking out Band-Maid's early stuff because I feel like I abused too much of World Domination this year.

  19. Oh no! Koloss have begun advancing on your town, Tyrian Falls! Since The Lord Ruler died, they seem to be acting with a mind of their own. Unfortunately for you, your town is a way point between Fadrex City and Luthadel. That means you have a stockpile of metals, but that’s probably why they targeted you in the first place. On the other hand, you have a large collection of metals! You might be able to hold them off, but it seems like someone (or a conspiracy of someones) seems to be undermining your defenses. Somehow, before the Koloss arrive, you have to rid your town of these dissenters; those that are spiked. Until then, you won’t be able to mount an effective defense for your town. If you fail, everyone dies, so you better not fail! Some people within the town have been hiding a few secrets; some of them are Mistings, so you have help in your battle versus the forces of Ruin. Although some of them may be spiked…. Why can’t anything be easy? THUG: They can survive a single attack. If they are killed during a night or day cycle, they survive and this will be revealed in the write up. If they are attacked again, they die… finally. TINEYE: They are messengers and are capable of writing messages to the town while remaining anonymous. Each night, they can send a message to the Game Master. The GM will then post it within the write up at the start of the next Day. As long as a Tineye is alive, players can send Private Messages back and forth. Once no Tineye is alive, they can no longer deliver messages, so no more PMs. SMOKER: The Smoker is undetectable and they can extend this power to one other person each night. If scanned by a Seeker, the smoker or the person encompassed within their coppercloud will show up as being Smoked. Alternatively, the Smoker can turn their coppercloud off. This would allow them to be scanned accurately as a Smoker. In addition to being undetectable by the Seeker, the Smoker and their target are unaffected by emotional Allomancy. As long as the Smoker is using their coppercloud, a Soother or Rioter cannot change their vote. SEEKER: The Seeker can sense when someone is burning metals. In fact, they have gotten so good that they can tell whether someone is spiked or not! Once per night, the Seeker can target someone to learn their abilities and alignment. COINSHOT: The Coinshot does what they do best. They push metals around; specifically into other people’s bodies. Once per night, the Coinshot can target a person for death. Unless otherwise disrupted, that person dies. LURCHER: Where the Coinshot pushes, the Lurcher pulls. Once per night the Lurcher can target someone and that person will be saved from death. A Lurcher cannot target the same person two nights in a row. SOOTHER: Their ability to dampen emotions puts them and the Rioter in a very special position. During the Day, they can negate one person’s vote. The change will be anonymous, but since I will be posting voting results at the end of each day, those that are observant should be able to tell what votes were changed. RIOTER: The Rioter works in a similar fashion as the Soother, except once during the day round they can change one person’s vote. Using this power does nullify their own vote though. They are still capable of voting, but their vote will not be counted. The change itself will be anonymous, but since I will be posting voting results at the end of each day, those that are observant should be able to tell what votes were changed. MISTBORN: They have the abilities of all of the above, but will only be able to use one per cycle. At the beginning of every night, the Mistborn will be told which ability they have and they can use that ability until the next night. If a previously held power would be received, the die is rerolled, and the new power is granted regardless of whether or not it was previously held. VANILLA: You have no special powers, but you still get a vote every day. Who knows? Perhaps you were meant to be the one to save the town! Not all stories are about the strongest people in a group. VILLAGE: Win when all Spiked are dead. SPIKED: Win when they outnumber the village, or otherwise can no longer lose. Housekeeping & clarifications Cosmetic roles You are highly encouraged (but not required) to choose a cosmetic role, and include it in your posts as much as you can, however you see fit. 20. Putting aside resonances (since we only know a little about them for surgebinders, and even less for metalborn) and compounding for a moment, what are some of the best Twinborn combos you can think of? Not simply "oh wow, these are both great powers," but pairs of powers that especially compliment each other? Here's what I've got so far: a-Tin and f-Electrum could work well if electrum let you stubborn through the worst effects of sensory overload. a-Pewter and either f-Steel or f-Gold are quite broken in terms of raw combat power. You could also use a-Pewter and f-Tin to become a bootleg Survivor of the Flames. One other thing I'd be curious about is whether tapping wakefullness or breath would let you push yourself for longer without causing a pewter drag. a-Pewter and f-Iron is an interesting one. Since Ham commented in Era 1 about Vin's pewter power being condensed because of her small frame, I think it must be additive rather than multiplicative. That means that as you tap lots of mass, your pewter strength is gonna seem less and less relevant instead of compounding with the multiplied strength you get from tapping. And if you burn pewter in combat and store mass, you'll probably just send yourself flying whenever you try hitting something. So all in all, this combo would probably be best for mobility. Something I actually think would be really cool to see is a pewter/iron twinborn ballerina. You get the strength, stamina, and grace of pewter (see: Vin and Elend's dance in HoA) plus the ability to work in incredible leaps thanks to storing your weight. a-Iron and f-Gold would pair well provided you're willing to spend a lot of time storing up health. Ironpull on bullets to yank them away from your squishy friends, ironpull on large structures with decreased consequences if you crash, etc. We've got ample canon evidence for why Crashers are such a powerful combo. Steel/pewter twinborn like Forch can also do this to a lesser extent I think, since the added or lost muscle mass has some effect on your steelpushing. Whether you can do some of the more limited tricks as a steel/bendalloy twinborn depends on if it works like in the MAG, where tapping lots of calories at once causes you to pack on weight. Either a-Zinc or a-Brass would pair quite well with f-Duralumin and f-Zinc (even ignoring compounding in Zinc's case) for a social person. a-Bronze works best for lookouts and trackers, so to that end I think it would synergize best with f-Tin. f-Zinc might also be good, if it gave you more subjective time to sort through the information you're receiving and maybe pick out a particular metal being burned. f-Speed would, I think, be pretty invaluable for a nicroburst or leecher. In close quarters with an allomancer, acting fast might save your life. And on the flip side, a-Chromium and a-Nicrosil are nice compliments for a brawler who mostly relies on f-Pewter. a-Gold and f-Aluminum could be either very good together or very, very bad, depending on how exactly Identity and gold shadows work. If tapping identity make you more resilient in the face of a gold shadow, great. If identity makes the differences between you and the shadow more pronounced, then you can at least store it and maybe suffer less side-effects that way. But if tapping it makes the differences worse and storing it makes you liable to lose yourself in the shadow, you're kind of hosed. f-Electrum, at least, should hopefully let you burn gold without too many side effects. One unorthodox combo that I'm still very convinced would yield interesting results is a-Electrum (or possibly even gold) and f-Chromium. (Word of Brandon and Stormlight spoilers) a-Bendalloy pairs best with close-combat feruchemical metals: steel pewter, and gold. You throw one up around you and a single opponent, beat the snot out of him, drop it and move onto the next guy. I'd say of these it pairs best with f-Steel, since that's the one I can best imagine someone tossing up a bubble for, standing perfectly still and dumping as much investiture as they possibly can into their metalminds, and then using that investiture when the bubble drops. With f-Zinc, of course, you also get the doubled effect of being in a speed bubble while you tap your accuity, which really just makes you think ludicrously fast.

  21. This would be using the Cogent Roleplay System and I would be the Narrator. If you don't know what Cogent is, you can find it here. To summarize the slightly long rulebook, the Cogent System is much simpler version of more common systems like DnD and Pathfinder. It focuses on roleplay more than they tend to as well. It uses only three attribute points, Strength, Reflex, and Intelligence. Each attribute has five skills underneath it. In order to accomplish a task, you gain a certain number of six sided dice depended on how many points you have in the applicable attribute and skill and a couple other things that might come up later. Combat doesn't even necessarily need a map. When it comes to the setting, more will be revealed when I have time.

I tend to search up "Drarry" or "Draco Malfoy" on Spotify and just click on any playlist that looks good. And those playlist usually have slow melancholic music. If fact Spotify has organised an entire section for me called "Sad Love" Also I really don't like monsoon, but it's better than winter so I said second favorite. For me, Summer is the best, than comes monsoon, and then at the very last comes winter.

  31. The only WoB that I could find that implies a seeker needing to be a savant to detect other types of investiture is this one: and I found a couple of WoB's similar to these that have no mention of savantism: On aluminum savantism, there is this WoB: That mentions cleansing investiture from the spiritweb. It doesn't say that you need to be a savant to do so, but being a savant would make you better at it. As for copper blocking soulcasting, A-copper probably would make it harder to soulcast someone. However, considering the fact that we've seen things pierce copperclouds, such as inquisitors with bronze spikes or TLR with soothing, I think that the higher investiture levels from copper would be more significant.

  32. To me that still sounds kind of like Odium + Honor rather than pure-Odium, even if we accept that Passion is really what Odium is (I doubt it; I think that's more Odium's own propaganda. Odium may be a bit broader than just Hatred, but it's clearly not all emotion, I don't know; of the five systems we really understand the Initiation for, three are extremely direct and straightforward connections - Awakening's connection to Endowment (Breaths must be given by intent), Hemalurgy's connection to Ruin (power must be stolen at a loss - entropy), and Surgebinding's connection to Honor (a bond is formed by oaths). Allomancy's a bit more of a stretch (external source allowing one to Preserve one's own strength), but I think the "survival" aspect of Snapping is also at play here. Feruchemy is less direct, but it's a 'balance magic' between two Shards, so we probably shouldn't expect it to directly reflect either Shard's intent. I don't think we know enough about how the Shaod works for AonDor or how people get the talent for Sand Mastery to judge those two systems. We know even less about the other Selish magic systems - but anyway these are also two-shard systems (due to the nature of the Dor I assume AonDor probably is too rather than being pure-Devotion, but who knows, guess AonDor could be all Aona & Dakhor all Skai/Dominion, but since there are more than three Selish systems I doubt it's that simple as it is on Scadrial).

  34. My home situation is getting worse and worse. When schools reopened, I went to talk to my counselor, but now its Christmas vacation, and every day is a struggle. Also there's a chance on a lockdown once again happening in my city (hence, schools closed) and I am pretty scared of that. I am hoping for online exams, but school was my only solace and I don't want that taken away. My counselor was the only one I could confide in. How do I cope with it all? And I can tell you one thing to describe what is happening at my home, is that the situation is pretty much like Shallan's was in the fact that I am not hit, but I watch my little brother get hit almost constantly. Plus, I am not allowed to go anywhere without my mother tracking my every movement. And she constantly puts me down. She wont ever accept my views and if I say something she disagrees with, she'll shout about how what I am saying is wrong, and I how am very close minded. If I stay in my bedroom, and I am not studying, she'll tell me to keep the door open and that there is no reason for me to close it. She makes everything about her. I told her that I had nearly read 50 books this year (something I was very excited about) and she said that 50 books was not a lot and when she was younger than me she must have 50 books in two months. She tells me constantly how weird I am and how physically weak I am, and puts me down like that. If I read, she tells me to use my time in things that matter. Please help me, please give me some consolation. I hope I don't sound selfish right now.

  35. Speaking of "no more godmetal mistings," A-Electrum, F-Zinc. Tap Zinc for the mental boost of A-Atium, burn Electrum for the future-sight. Granted, it's future sight of yourself, but with the more customizable (in terms of potency) mental boost of Zinc feruchemy, I find it plausible that you could set up a system of hand gestures or other signs that only make sense to yourself, and then commit to, "if option A turns out well for me, I do gesture X, if option B turns out poorly I do gesture Y," and then your Electrum shadows will do a gesture based on how their choices turn out, which you can analyze while mentally boosted and then replicate that shadow's sequence of actions for the best outcome of the potential futures you saw.

  42. Hey all! Along with the release of Rhythm of War, we are also rolling out a new framework that you can use for tagging your threads to help clarify what kinds of responses you’re looking for. Sometimes when you post a thread, you’d like some in-depth discussion, getting into the meat of the topic, maybe even constructive criticism. Other times, though, you’re just wanting to express excitement about an idea (or disliking a thing) without having to get into the weeds of disagreement and cross-examination. Both are valid and important types of conversations! But it can be hard to tell sometimes what a poster’s intentions are. That’s where these tags come in. After a lot of discussion, we’ve come up with a simple two-tag model: [Discuss] and [Support]! [Discuss] should be used to signal that you are open to: More in-depth digging into a topic Disagreements or challenges to your ideas Debate and collaborative theorycrafting [Support], on the other hand, indicates that you want to: Talk about something that bothers you, without being criticized for being bothered Express joy, appreciation, or enthusiasm, knowing that others in the thread will respond with the same vibe Have a more casual conversation, avoiding nitpicking and debate “But what is a tag and how do I use it?” I hear you asking. Basically, using [Discuss]/[Support] will function the same as the tags in topic titles that indicate spoilers. Simply add the appropriate tag to the end of your topic title in square brackets, like so: THEORY! Aons are Shardblades in Disguise! [Discuss] Way of Kings Needs More Balat POVs [Support] And of course, keep spoilers out of topic titles! Happy Cosmere Release Eve! Remember that we’re all here to have fun. Take the time to read the room and respect each other, and most of all, enjoy reading Rhythm of War! Another note: for Oathbringer's release, we required [OB] tags in our spoiler board. This is not required for the Rhythm of War release. Please see our Rhythm of War and Dawnshard spoiler policy page for details.

  44. PROOF: In looking into the latinate derivation of his name, Cephandrius, we can clearly see that "Cepha" is referring to the presence of a head, and "andrius" is referring to the gender associated with the body associated with said head, namely male. Given this clear evidence, not only is it highly likely that Hoid is a composite organism composed of numerous identical siblings living on all the known shardworlds, but in fact it is even more likely that all males with heads seen on all of the shardworlds are likewise part of this composite organism known collectively as Hoid, or Topaz, or Cephandrius. Another bit of compelling proof, why would ONE man need SO MANY names??? THEORY: The Stormfather is the Spren of Grouchy old man griping. Yeah, he's that splinter of Tanavast's personality, not the honor bit, but the bit that likes to complain about teenagers.

  45. Proof: That's exactly why Hoid told Shallan to 'be wary of anyone who claims to be able to see the future'. See, if someone knew the future, and cosmere happens in reverse, that would mean he lives inversely to the cosmere, so Cosmere's future is actually his past. And we all can agree that living backwards is dangerous and untrustworthy. Theory: The Dawnshards are instant noodles.

Spren and their radiants become one thing by bonding. Thus Shallan is pattern. Thus Shallan is part of everything. But everything doesn't appear the same. Thus differences must be imagined. The only thing is Shallan. Thus Shallan imagined everything. Theory: the stormfather is actually odium
