  2. Hey guys! Sorry i haven't been so active. Here are some lil doodles i made, i don't think the Stormlight Archive one is good enough to put in gallery (i just made it on a whim with a pen) but i still think it's pretty funny. For the Stormlight one, first one is Shallan, second one is Kaladin, third one is, of course, Adolin, and last one is Renarin. Also, sort of Words of Radience spoilers, but not exactly, idk. And the mushroom dood's name is Mushroom Bob. He is very happy and wants to give you a flower.

  7. Came across this intriguing bit in RoW Interlude 12 today and it made me wonder who Taravangian is referring to: So who is this former bearer that they interviewed? The list of former bearers that the Diagram would potentially have access to seems pretty small. There’s a time-based limit as well because it has to have been someone they had access to after the Diagram became aware of the sword, which seems like it was probably during the Battle of Thaylen Field. On to potential options. Warbreaker spoilers for the first two: Other than those two, I think the only person we know who has borne Nightblood is Nale. I don’t see him as a likely source. Of course, there may have been others given that the Nightwatcher apparently had access to Nightblood for at least some period of time. Or maybe Nale gave NB to someone else before Szeth? Would be interesting to ask Brandon. This feels like the kind of thing that is maybe tangential enough to the main plot to avoid a RAFO and maybe at least get a hint of an answer.

  8. Who or how Kelsier has managed to reconnect with a physical body is a constant question for the fandom these days. Thanks to some recent WoBs I think we can now at least come up with a full theory at least. + If Kel were to have someone get a few breaths and animate his old bones as a lifeless, then have the lifeless tap an unsealed metalmind of healing he could have his body back in perfect physical condition. After he does so the only problem is "making a new string." If you bring the new body into the CR one could preform hemalugy of the same type he uses to gain a connection to Spook. A lifeless does not have a force of will capable of resisting outside control so Kel can then move his lifeless body as if it were his own making it that much easier to connect them even more firmly(compounding connection for example).

  10. Okay, so we see Ishar trying to manifest the bodies of spren into physical bodies. This seems to work best for honorspren. Because they are basically blue humans. You know who else is basically a blue human? The Natans. And they have this legend that somebody concieved a child with the moon. maybe it wasn't the moon itself. But a person that looked like the representation of the moon to the people. Maybe somebody successfully has manifested a honorspren before. Or they are Koloss-blooded who knows

Weep! - for in hatred, you have destroyed yourselves." Kasimir was killed! They were a Loyal Stormspren! "Why do you take my Blade, Despot? The Night of Sorrows falls and your hands are stained to the elbow in a kinsman's blood. I see a city in flames, Kholinar, the jewel of Alethkar, broken asunder. I hear the wail of darkeyes, weeping for their slain. I see slaughter in the streets, and I weep. You have made of ambition a desolation. What is left, then, beyond the ash rains? You know where logic leads. Even though I be dead, the work is left unfinished. The Azure Dragon or the Blue Bird. They must be stopped." 20. They use unsealed copperminds as a form of virtual reality. Maybe play games with it or be nice and let people who are permanently paralyzed go for a walk in the park. Another alternative would be to use them as a form of video cameras in courtrooms and etc. EDIT: a full Feruchemist could earn a LOT of money by selling copperminds like this. Or they could operate an ultimate security guard.

I believe that life really only has meaning if you try to live a life of love, service, and also of appreciation. The beauty of the world is that there are an infinite number of paths to walk, finding the path you were meant to walk is only part of it, just as important is taking time to appreciate the beauty you find along the way. I'll take multiple stabs at this one. Let me know if any of these is right. 1) The One Ring 2) Nothing 3) Pocket lint and an old orange tic-tac 4) A Philly cheese steak

  26. Some more exciting news this week: first, Sunreach is out! Also, the next revision of Wax and Wayne 4 is finished, Skyward 4 has been started, and Mistborn playing cards are up for preorder! Additionally, all orders have been shipped for the tenth anniversary Kickstarter for The Way of Kings. (Summary's a bit late, due to school stuff, but this turned out to be fortuitous, as Brandon's newsletter today contained some announcements of its own to put in.) You heard that, Sunreach, the first of the Skyward Flight novellas written by Brandon and his friend and former student Janci Patterson, is officially out in both eBook and audiobook formats! It takes place around the end of Starsight and start of Cytonic, from the viewpoint of FM. You can find links to order it on Penguin Random House's website, alongside the rest of the series. In case you missed the previous announcements, ReDawn (the second novella, which follows Alanik) will release October 26th, Cytonic (the third full novel, which of course follows Spensa) will release November 23rd, and Evershore (the third novella, which follows Jorgen) will release December 28th. The update also clarified a point of minor confusion: the recommended reading order is release order, and even if you wait on the series for the print collection of all three novellas to release next year, it is suggested to start with Sunreach and ReDawn, and then break to read Cytonic before continuing on to Evershore. Publisher's blurb for Sunreach: That's not all, though–the Cytoverse train continues full speed ahead as Brandon has started outlining Skyward 4 (which he hopes to title Defiant). The goal is for the first draft of Defiant to be finished by the end of the year, and for the final book to release spring 2023. But wait, wasn't he working on something else already? Well, turns out the second draft of The Lost Metal is now complete! From here, the book will be sent to Brandon's editors and to the beta readers, and he will return to revise it with their feedback in the spring. The book is planned to have a fall 2022 release date. While we'll have to wait for a while yet for that book, we do have new Mistborn products in the form of the Mistborn playing cards by Kings Wild Project. A full article about those will be forthcoming [edit: it's up!], so for now I'll leave it at a link to their site, where you can preorder a set. As one preorder opens, another finally comes to an end: shipping for the The Way of Kings 10th anniversary Kickstarter campaign is now complete. While some packages are still in transit, most people should have received theirs, so Dragonsteel Books recommends that if you haven't, you should check your email (including spam or junk folders) to see if they contacted you about any problems shipping, and to reach out to your postal service. Let us know what you think of the novella in the Sunreach Spoiler Forum or the #sunreach-spoilers channel on our Discord server, and be sure to drop a rating and review on whatever platform you used to purchase it! The latest Weekly Update video (featuring special guest Janci) can of course be found on Brandon's YouTube channel, and a transcription will be able to be found on his blog in the coming days. You can also sign up for his newsletter via the form on his website, and the newsletter for Mainframe (Brandon's audiobook company, co-founded with his friend Max Epstein) via its MailChimp page. (You may have noticed this week's title is a bit different—originally this series started as just me summarizing the videos in a quick article format. However, I've more and more been adding other things, whether it's news Brandon didn't get to in his update or convenience improvements such as putting the book blurbs right here in the article body, and so I figured the title should reflect this.)

  28. Just finished! It was a good read, and did well to compact the story it told in as small a format as it did. Although it's different from the first two books so far in a lot of ways. Sunreach has a larger focus on a romance subplot that was brought up in Skyward (one directly, one indirectly and almost so subtle that I didn't catch it on my first readthrough) and then quickly forgotten by the time Starsight rolled around. It makes the novella feel "cute" in a way that the books are. It also makes the novella feel more YA, for better or for worse. Next up is the plot. This feels more like a continuation of plot threads in Starsight than it does expanding the universe. It feels like watching Black Panther or Spider-Man: Homecoming after watching Captain America: Civil War - you know these characters, their main gist, and some of their relationships; now go explore it in-depth. Meanwhile I was expecting it to be more like Doctor Strange or Shang-Chi or even Black Widow, where we explore a different part of the world in-depth. THAT BEING SAID, Sunreach told the story it needed to tell, and I'm happy it did. ReDawn is offering a bit more in terms of worldbuilding, and I'm really liking Janci's influence on the Cytoverse, so I'm very excited. Overall, this is a vital read for fans of Starsight who wanted more Skyward Flight, and just for fans of the series who were upset with how Starsight ended.

If not how do you explain that he used feruchemy of all things to save the Southerners? It looks to me that if you assume that the Savior had no feruchemy before he went south you will be open some huge logic conundrums.

  34. Heralds Madness The Heralds are insane, and that seems to a plot point of increasing significance with Kaladin’s focus on mental health in RoW, Ishar’s plan being dangled as a plot thread for the upcoming KoW. However, a lot of unclear with the herald's madness. I don’t think it’s been confirmed but it’s collectively accepted that a major part of the problem is a ‘magical’ inversion of their divine attributes/purpose. However, what’s causing this isn’t clear. There are so many factors at play that could be screwing with the Heralds heads: Normal PTSD from millennia of torture + war Immortality related Cognitive shadow decay (brain trying to handle millennia of memories) Spiritweb impact of 'breaking' during the oathpact Spiritweb impact of actually abandoning the oathpact BAM being bound Honor's death/shattering Guilt over abandoning one of their closest companions to be tortured alone ??? (Nale specific, but bonding to a Highspren is making him worse) The heralds seem to think that this is purely a result (1) PTSD. Kalak says that they shouldn't be 'getting worse' anymore. Nale tells Szeth at Thaylen Field his loss of compassion is directly torture-related Ash told Adolin that "thousands of years of torture" is what made the heralds insane. Ishar seems only to make the ideal = lucidity connection when Navani swears her ideal. Ishar also says he needs to be sane to fix the oathpact, not that fixing the oathpact will make him sane. I don’t think it’s actually on the herald's radar that they have a 'magical' problem. The source of the magical insanity can't just be the impact of abandoning the oathpact or breaking since Taln seems to still have the 'inverted attribute (resolute/dependable - comatose and cowardice) and he never participated in either of those two things. The cognitive shadow memory problems are definitely an issue but it doesn’t make sense as a root of the herald's ironic madness. I think it's something later, probably BAM being bound and/or Honor's death, that is causing the 'curse'. Heralds are closer to Nahal spren than humanity at this point, per Kalak, and also directly connected to Honor (like the Sibling). What happened to the Sibling and all the spren was drastic and completely uwpredicted. Heralds getting uniquely broken (on top of trauma + memory problems) fits with the other effects we've seen. Furthermore, while, the heralds do seem insane even in the original prologue (Kalak's anxiety, he sees cowardice in Jezerin’s eyes) but it’s nowhere near what we see in modern Roshar. Jezerin is leagues more put together, and while anxiety does seem to be part of Kalak’s madness, but I would argue that his magical anxiety seems to be specifically social anxiety (he’s at his most fearful surrounded by crowds at Gavliar’s party and the Trial) as an inversion of the social organizer role willshapers seems to have had. What we saw in the prologue than the completely reasonable fear of torture driven by PTSD. Finally, on a meta level, this would also help tie two of the major plot threads (Dalinar’s plan to fix the Heralds and Adolin/Shallan’s quest to release BAM) in KoW.

I don't think Sazed is the type to poke into cloning or anything like that and I don't think it's time yet for the Cosmere to get that sci-fi. I think he was just talking about getting a Champion of sorts, and from what we've seen, Wax could fill that role and is in the right place in the timeline.
