  4. I noticed this as well. The passage where he/him pronouns are used is: "Formless--who had been hiding deep inside these last few days--stirred. She'd thought him forgotten, but he had been waiting. Watching..." I don't think this can be chalked up as a typo, since both "he" and "him" are used. However, this is the only time he/him pronouns are used for Formless. Elsewhere, it/its pronouns are used for Formless, and when Shallan "becomes" Formless later in the book she/her pronouns are used. My personal theory is that Formless had he/him pronouns in an earlier draft of the book, but Brandon changed his mind on that and happened to miss this instance while editing.

  5. SPOILERS AND ADDED INFORMATION: I had posted other bits of this else where in 2020 before the "Taln never broke" WOB, but consolidated all the ideas here in this post This theory and post came out before Rhythm of War, but updates have been made to include information from ROW SA5 Prologue: This is not discussed to avoid spoilers, but SA5 Prologue has some interesting information --- Weird Questions: 1) TALN BREAKING SEEMS ODD What broke Taln? He is crazy and insensate for 4000 years and then one day he says "No thank you". What could have broke Taln? And, in terms of timelines, Taln returned before the Everstorm crossed into the physical realm, so it can't be that the Everstorm freed Taln. Yes the Everstorm was in the Cognitive, but all the doom and gloom seemed to be about the Everstorm being pulled in the Physical Realm by Eshoni and her team. Since Taln returns at the end of The Way of Kings, then Taln must return in a way that is not related to Eshoni. And as I mentioned before, I don't think it makes sense that Odium suddenly found a way to break Taln after 4000 years of trying. Edit: we later got a WOB that Taln did not break 2) DAVAR FAMILY CONNECTIONS Why was the Davar family so connected to secret societies despite being a Vaden house of little note? They have connections to the Ghostbloods and the Ghostbloods have handed them a confirmed soulcaster AND possibly a Seon box. Why? And it seems Skybreakers may have been visiting as well for "reasons". As well, the Skybreakers are breaking paterns when it comes to the Davars. As far as we know, Shallan's older brother is the only Skybreaker to be using a dead blade. Is this special treatment for a member of the Davar family? And finally, Mraize seems to know the Davar family well enough to recognize the name immediately. The Davars would need to be pretty active for that name recognition to be so apparent. 3) CHILD SHALLAN AND HER IMPORTANCE Why did the cryptic go to Shallan as a child? Lift was chosen due to her strange connection to Cultivation, but why Shallan? And why twice? And what were Shallan's parents fighting about? Shallan remembers her parents having huge fights over Shallan's future starting from a very young age. What was that about? Connected to that, why is an dark influence attacking the Davar family? Why is Heleran given a shardblade and brought into the skybreakers? No other Skybreaker acolyte was given a dead-blade and sent to war (that we know of), so why is Helaran so non-standard? Shallan's parents also fight A LOT about Shallan's future. This seems to be a hint that Chanarach had a major plan for Shallan. 4) MAMA DAVAR IN THE KNOW Why was Shallan's mother so quick to try and kill "one of them". How does she know "them" so clearly? Why would she have such a quick and radical reaction? 5) MORE SECRETS What is Shallan's last secret. There is still something horrible in Shallan's past, and this has something to do with a Seon box and whatever Radiant was created to protect Shallan from. What is worse than killing testament? We also have strange internal thoughts from Shallan from WOR in Chapter 10: "The world ended; and Shallan was to blame". This thought has never been explained. What did Shallan do to end the world? "The world ended, and Shallan was to blame.- Words of Radiance, Chapter 10. Mentioned by @honorblades Another strange but overlooked instance occurs in TWoK when Shallan almost summons her Shardblade: If this is indeed Patters/Testement, then why would that Spren ask "What are you?" Testament should full-well know "what" Shallan is in terms of her being a human or a semi-radiant or anything like that. If this voice is Testament, then asking "What are you?" is very odd in my opinion. Shallan answers "I am terrified", but to me that always seemed ... not what the voice was asking Shallan. I always felt there was more to this that simply speaking truths. 6) THE FAMILY'S SAFE AND THE GLOWING LIGHTS ARE IMPORTANT (main data point for me creating this theory) People are very quick to discount Shallan's recollection of Lin Davar placing a glowing soul into a safe. I have always been very confused as to why Shallan is taken as "lying" to herself in this scene. Shallan has no reason to lie about the item being her mother's soul instead of a Shardblade. Lin Davar acted extremely quickly in that situation and made sure to place the item in that safe before dealing with any other issues. That to me is extremely telling. Why would Lin think the Shadblade wouldn't disappear eventually whenever Shallan dismissed it? Why would Lin think the Shardblade would stay in a safe if he managed to place it there quickly? Why would Lin so quickly run to place the item in the safe in the first place? Why is there an unused safe in that room? And then why do Shallan and Lin seem to continually see light coming from that safe for years and years? None of that vibes with "it is just a blade and Shallan is lying to herself" in any way. I just don't get it. Shallan having a Shardblade is not in anyway covered up by this lie, nor is the lie that Shallan killed her spren hidden by this lie either? There is no mental cover-up being done by Shallan making up a lie here. It seems everyone else dismisses Shallan, including Pattern, in favour of "Lynn put a sword in there". 7) EDIT FOR ROW: Then in ROW we get the timeline, and this does not hold up to scrutiny either. Shallan says her father put the item into the safe. WoR Shallan thinks that was a soul, but Pattern convinces her she is misremembering and that the item was a dead spren-blade. But that can't be a dead spren blade because Shallan has not unbonded Testament yet. Shallan does not think that a spren is trapped in that safe and we know this because Shallan then leaves to go speak with her spren in the garden AFTER the item is placed in the safe. Shallan acts immediately as a child in a way that doesn't even consider that her "blade" is in that safe. It just doesn't make sense to think a blade was placed into that safe based on the reactions of the two witnesses involved (which we learn Pattern is not one of) We take it from Pattern that Shallan is wrong here in her memory. However, In ROW we learn that Pattern is NOT an eyewitness to what went down in that room. Pattern sure has a lot of opinions about what Shallan saw, but Pattern was not actually there in the room and cannot actually know what Shallan saw go into the safe. Pattern assumed Shallan is lying to herself as Pattern sees many other lies around that event. But Pattern has no knowledge about who Mother-Davar was, what the safe was for, or why Skybreaker/Ghostbloods may have been in the home. Pattern is not a credible source of information on the events of that day. Shallan is the only living witness, and the actions of her father are consistent with the understanding Shallan had as a child. Shallan too noticed her father staring at the direction of the safe and the light. Only later in life is Shallan told again and again that her memory of those events are wrong by people who were not there. Both Lin and Shallan believe something is in the safe, and a sword does not match the other data points we have. There is "light" in that safe, and it is leaking out over time. And where di the blood come from? A Shardblade should not have done that. The blood has to be some other injury? The box is something. The light was something. Pattern is making assumptions and is wrong about this history with the safe. And why does Shallan see a glowing light coming from the box? Is it a soul like she believes? We learn in RoW that no herald soul can be trapped completely, and that the light of a herald will slowly leak out (is that what Shallan was seeing her whole childhood come out of the safe?). Is it her mother's soul escaping slowly to Braize? Or maybe could it be a perfect gem with Mishram inside? Who knows? But it is something. We have seen other glowing lights (Dawnshard and Dalinar hearing TwoK), so is she just mad, or did she really see something? Whatever it is, it does not make sense that Shallan thinks Testament is trapped in the safe if Shallan went and yelled at Testament after her mother was killed. Something was put into that safe, and to me the most likely answer is "her mother's soul". And firhermore, there is no reason to believe that Lin Davar would think a safe would ever prevent a Shardblade from reappearing in Shallan's hands. 8) HOID and MIDDLEFEST Hoid is downright shocked to see child-Shallan at the Middlefest celebration. Hoid sees something, but that something is unclear. When we originally read WOR, we assume HOpid is shocked to see a Radiant Child or perhaps a bonded spren. However, Shallan does not have a regular active sprenbond at the time of Middlefest, so Hoid did not see Testament or an active radiant bond There are a few things Hoid may have seen: a. Hoid saw Odium's touch on her family b. a dead-blade living-radiant connection line was still active c. the Cryptic team that watched Shallan. d. Shallan is so obviously a part of Chanarach that Hoid was gobsmacked by the resemblance. e. Shallan is noticeably different than other Rosharans due to her strange parentage. But whatever Hoid saw, it was not an active Spren Bond since we know Testament is a deadeye at that point in the story. ---- It All Put Together - A Timeline 1) JAH KAVED Chararach settled in the Davar estate in rural Jah Kaved. Chanarach is involved in several of the secret societies of Roshar just like most of the other heralds we have seen. Chanarach learns of the theory that a return of surgebinders will bring about a desolation. Chararach is completely terrified of returning to Braize and supports the culling of nascent surgebinding. Chanarach is involved in research and is a part of the search to create a method that prevents a herald from returning to Braize upon death. Kalak is also involved. 2) COMMUNICATION NETWORKS Chanarach commands a fair bit of influence and even has a Seon to communicate off world. It is unclear who knows who Chanarach is, but as she did settle in a rural area it is likely Chana's identity is not common knowledge even within secret societies (similar to Restares and Amaram). Chana exerts some form of influence and stays in-the-know with investiture theory and is able to contact others on Roshar or off-world. 3) CREATING THE SAFE Chana tries to devise a way to never return to Braize. She creates a special kind of safe that her soul could be placed in to. She thinks it will entirely prevent a return or will greatly delay her return to Braize. Chana has no way to test this as there are no herald-souls or returned-souls to experiment with. Possibly, the safe is akin to the Seon box in design or the safe may even actually be the Seon Box Shallan remembers playing with as a child? At some point, Chana tells Lin Davar what to do in case she is ever killed (place her soul into the box). In ROW we learn Kelek has some knowledge on this herald soul-leakage issue, so perhaps he was also involved in the Soul Box experiments in some way. 4) SHALLAN IS BORN Chanarach eventually has a daughter and names that daughter after her friend Shalash (Shallan says she was named after Shalash). Shallan may not be a "typical" offspring. She seems to be different from her brothers in some meaningful way. Perhaps Shallanis a cutting of Chararach or maybe Shallan conceived through some form or parthenogenetic process. Perhaps Shallan was created using breaths, as Tyn notes that Shallan seems to see colours better than most other people. EDIT: In a later WOB we learned that that non-returned Cognitive Shadows have had children Edit: In a later WOB we learned that Heralds can have children but it is complicated and effortful to do. Chana has special plans for Shallan. We know from WoR that Shallan's parents fought A LOT about Shallan's future. This implies to me that Shallan is somehow more intentionally convieved than her male siblings, and that Chana had something planned for Shallan that Lynn Davar had moral misgivings about. We are not sure what this is, but I think a lot of us will assume it has something to do with the Oathapact and/or returning to Braize. 5) SHALLAN IS DETECTED BY SPREN The Cryptics find out that one of the heralds has children or they discover a weird child who stands-out and is similar to the child of a Returned. The Cryptics send a delegation to investigate (WOB confirms heralds can have children though maybe it is difficult). At the same time, an unmade is drawn to the family. Testament begins to bond Shallan similar to what happened with Lift. Shallan eventually discovers what her mother is by playing with a Seon box at the Davar estate. The unmade's influence increases in an attempt to get the Herald to go insane and potentially get herself killed by Lin Devar or Shallan. 6) SHALLAN IS DETECTED BY SKYBREAKERS Shallan is discovered to be a surge binder by her mother. Her mother, fearing a return to Braize, refers to Shallan as "one of them". Note that Chanarach does not seem surprised that surgebinders are real. Chanarach has an absolute PTSD breakdown and attacks her daughter. Lin, who likely knew, steps in and Shallan is able to kill her mother in self defence. Lin Devar takes something and locks it away in the safe. We are told this is the Shardblade and Shallan's mother's soul. Shallan goes to the garden to scream at Testament and break her bond AFTER Testament is supposedly locked away in the safe. This timeline does not make sense even if we believe Testament could escape the safe. Why does Shallan believe her spren was trapped but also then in the garden? And how is Testament-blade = her mother's soul? There isn't a connection there logically. 7) SHALLAN KILLS A HERALD AND THEN TALKS TO TESTAMENT IN THE GARDEN After Shallan kills her mother, Shallan goes to Testament and breaks her bond. It is possible Testament told her more here as well. Shallan then begins to repress everything since Shallan has, in her mind, done the most evil act in history. "The world ended, and Shallan was to blame.- Words of Radiance, Chapter 10. Mentioned by @honorblades 8) CORRUPTION SETS IN Lin Devar begins to be corrupted even more. Lin also has mental guilt and wrestles with killing his herald-wife to save his daughter. He beings to protect Shallan at all costs for reasons that may be more than just guilt. Then Davar family hell ensues. The ghostbloods continue to cultivate the family. The Ghostbloods may not believe a herald could be killed by Lin or may not know she was a Herald. The Cryptics stay with Shallan as they don't blame her for what happened. They are still curious about what Shallan is and are researching what happens to a bonded-deadeye to its original radiant. The dark influence in the house may be more than an unmade as well. One of Chana's divine attributes is "obedient". I think this is significant. Lin is driven to rage every time one of his children will not obey him, and the word obey is emphasized many times. It may be possible the Lin's rage was a dark consequence of something Chana was doing, the safe's magical effects, or something else. It is also possible that Lin thought his children would inherit the divine attribute, and the fact they dont obey him drives him to rage. 9) BRAIZE AND SOUL LEAKAGE Chanarach returns to Braize. It may have taken some time for her to get to Braize. It seems the soul is leaking out of the safe over time (ROW: as we see with Jezrian in the gem). Or maybe it takes 5 years to find Chana on Braize since arrival was unexpected and because in earlier returns the heralds were able to "hide" for some time. Either way, the other heralds do not know that that has happened as they cannot detect the pain-bond while on Roshar. Edit: Ishar created the oathpact so he may be able to sense changes in it. 10) HOID SEES SHALLAN Shallan, with no bond, goes to Middlefest. Wit's magic or memory allow him to detect that there is something very strange about Shallan. Wit somehow knows what Shallan fights "is not truly natural" and encourages her to make a path for the light. It is unclear what Wit saw, but he knew more than the fact she was a surgebinder (even though she's actually a deadeye-binder at the time). 11) CHANA IS CAPTURED ON BRAIZE Chanarach is eventually found on Braize. For some reason, Chana either breaks to the pain or gives in to some deal Odium offers. It may have taken a while or been immediate. What is strange is that Chana has not been seen returning to Roshar, either Chana took some deal meaning she did not have to return or perhaps she intentionally landed somewhere remote. 12) TALN RETURNS WITHOUT BREAKING THE OATH Taln returns to Roshar completely insane and without breaking. What happens to Chanarach is unknown. All assume Taln broke. 13) SHALLAN BEGINS TO REMEMBER THAT HER MOTHER WAS A HERALD Radiant is created from memories of Shallan's mother. Or potentially, Radiant is somehow part of Chanarach. Radiant dresses in the same blue and red warrior outfit as the Herald Chanarach in artworks. Radiant is Shallan's repressed memories of who her mother was. It is also possible that Radiant is in someway Shallan's mother (connection mumbo jumbo and cognitive shadow stuff along with cultivation weirdness possibilities) Here is a description of Radiant: “She [Radiant] had chosen to wear her vakama; the traditional Vaden’s warrior clothing. It was similar to the Alethi takama but the skirt was pleeted instead of straight. She wore a loose matching coat with a tight vest and shirt beneath. The bright clothing features vibrant blues embroidered over reds with gold woven between and it had trim on the skirt” Here is Chanarach: 14) TESTEMENT MEMORIES Shallan is forced to confront what happened with Testament, and Radiant begins to see that she must help Shallan deal with her final truth. [Option 1] Shallan knows she killed a herald and that she sent her mother to damnation - possibly ending the world and starting the final desolation. [Option 2] Shallan does not know her mother was a herald, but will put that together in regards to the "hole" in her memory"

  7. One additional note. While I did not put an activity filter in this game, instead hoping the rules themselves would encourage activity, I am going to start putting my foot down. From this point forward, unless you talk to me about it beforehand, if you don't post at least once a cycle I will get a pinch hitter for you. That's once every 3 days, that isn't too much to ask. Thank you for your cooperation.

  8. LG79/AN10 Night 2: Into Alethela Things weren't nearly as quiet now, since many of them were no longer in dullform. Thane had found a stick, and was walking towards the back of the group, but he could still hear many people arguing towards the front. One particular argument started to get out of hands, coming to shouts and blows. Others went to go intervene, but Thane, being in workform, didn't really feel like getting involved. It was snowing, and the icy air still bit at Thane's carapace. Thankfully, they weren't too far from getting to the bottom of the pass. Then Thane heard a noise. A low rumble. He turned around, looking for the source of the noise. His eyes widened in fear. "AVALANCHE! AVALANCHE! EVERYBODY RUN!" Thane shouted to the rhythm of the terrors. He himself started sprinting towards higher ground. But the avalanche was coming fast, and there were some stragglers. Thane watched with his own eyes as Alb, one of the singers who had originally formed the group of rebels, tossed another singer out of harm's way, and was then buried in a rush of ice and snow. When the wave passed, Thane ran and started digging to try and get him out. But by the time he managed to do so, he was already dead. Thane sang the rhythm of the Lost, and several others joined in. For Alb, they would have to continue into Alethela. There was no time for extended mourning, as a highstorm was imminent, and they needed to find shelter. Freedom always came at a cost. Sometimes that cost was dear friends. The road to freedom was a difficult one. And he was sure that Alb would not be the last one to die. Not by a faint breeze or a stormwind. ---- Magenta Albatross was exed! They were a Dullform Rebel! 9. "I hold the suckling child in my hands, a knife at his throat, and know that all who live wish me to let the blade slip. Spill its blood upon the ground, over my hands, and with it gain us further breath to draw." In my re read, well actually listening to the GA, I got to the part where Dalinar touches Nale and sees him through time, here is the quote: "Nale, cradling a child in one arm, his blade out, as dark forces crawled across a ridge nearby" could those quotes be the same incident? Maybe sacrificing, killing, the child will keep the "dark force" at bay, "gain us further breath to draw". IDK it just caught my attention and thought to share and see.

  12. Something that has been brought up in a few different places is the amount that the village depends on alignment scans rather than doing analysis to solve the game. So I thought of an idea for a pseudo alignment scan to kick things off in a game where the GM is worried the village might struggle. Basically, around Cycle 3-4 roughly, if no elims have yet been caught, the elim team has to choose one of their members to be revealed as an elim and removed from the game. However, unlike a regular death, that player does not get access to the dead doc, and is still able to participate in the elim doc. I think this might work well as a core mechanic in a QF or MR with 15+ players.

  13. An old-school Bioware-styled game that takes place during the final Desolation(s). Depending on what the players choose to do, they end up in a different Radiant group and have a slightly different story. In this case, it's more like Bioware's MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic. In that game, players can choose the class, and that dictates which story is told. From there, they can make storyline decisions and whatnot. I think that this would be a hybrid of the two - choosing which Order would shape the story path, but the choices along the story would also be more impactful than they apparently are in (most of) SWTOR. Meeting the Heralds would also be a major part, as we'd get to know them a little better through the Desolation(s). After the final battle and Taln's death, the Heralds would proclaim that the Desolations are over, and that humanity had won. ...a post-credit scene would appear later, showing eight of the Heralds departing, with Jezrien staying behind, stating that he would "bear this burden." We see the Heralds drop their swords into the dirt, say their goodbyes to Jezrien, and walk away. Gameplay notes: The Companions would be people of different Orders, ethnicities, and races. Getting all five Oaths shouldn't be seen as the main objective, as the game should be perfectly completable with three or so...depending on the Order. However, challenges for completing the game under the "Standard" amount of Oaths may be a fun thing to add. Gameplay itself would probably function more like a hack-and-slash or Musou/Warriors style game, where players can feel like gods against normal mooks. However, when Fused and other enemies start appearing, things would get complicated.

Here’s mine: A friend, easily having no friends will fix that a dodo/other extinct animal a live blobfish a one eyed one horned flying purple people eater and getting stabbed by a feather. Are there better, more obscure weaknesses that can be concocted?

  18. That's not fully true. Standard Ilumination HAS some futuresight. We've seen few times, Shallan was drawing Yalb survival, also was drawing "possible future" for many people - what is very similar to what Renarin to Moash. Renarin's Progression works normaly, so his "Void" Has to be Ilumination. And maybe Voidbinding is Surgebinding shifted extremaly into Spiritual Aspect of Surge (as Basic concept). Maybe we can try guess other effects of Voidbinding with this pattern. But they probably would not be as dramatic as for Truthwatchers, because of central position of them on Voidbinding Chart, what suggests they are the strongest Voidbinders.

  20. Why can't this be explained as one of the Surges? I always thought that what Renarin was still using Illumination to conjure those visions, just using it in a different way than Lightweavers. Just like nex-im use Transportation differently than Elsecallers do, or like Bondsmiths and Windrunners use Adhesion in different ways.

  22. As a fellow weird academic, there's part of me that would love to incorporate a whole subplot on the actual content of the queen's research. And one on Al's road building. And any other number of sort of random things that a large number of readers won't find nearly as interesting as I do... but I already have too many subplots that I haven't been able to do justice to quite yet. So we'll work on those first. Yep! Some of this is touched on in chapter 3, with Al's audience with the king. But I haven't found a good spot to introduce it in more depth early on. I definitely need to give her a better goal to be working toward from the start. I think her lack of political interest works better later when the conflict she's fighting against is clearer, but right now her frustration with Dad and her wanting to keep the family from being jerks to each other is mostly just a mild concern until things ramp up elsewhere. We shall see. I can definitely see this being the case. She's another one who I've been struggling to figure out how to present in the correct light (you know. Like most of the characters. whoops.). Ideally, she should come across as a concerned mother who's trying to ask Ali to be patient with her father because things are complicated right now. There should be more of an impression that Mom's not really thrilled about the decisions Dad's making either, and that she's also a little afraid of what it might mean for Is and that it's going to cause them all a lot of pain in the long run. But emotions are not my best thing. They're not even one of my alright things. I blame being an engineer. For whatever reason I instinctively feel like any emotive description at all is going to make characters come across as melodramatic (even though I know better), so it usually takes a couple passes of intentionally emotion-ifying sections to improve them. Unfortunately, when my go-to first-glance reader is also an engineer, that aspect of things usually requires a second opinion, which ends up being the readers here most of the time.

  23. Her uncle's healer. He's mentioned by name in chapter 5, but it's definitely been a couple weeks. Hah. Fortunately G knows better than she does. Is's cousin. I thought that was mentioned in Ali's chapter, but I looked back and it's apparently not. *facepalm* Correct on the second point, though I'll have to go through that again and see if I can streamline it. I switched some things around in this one a little before submitting it, and it always takes a couple days of letting things sit before I can get a sense of conversation flow. Yes. Yes, it would. That's definitely one of the things I've realized I haven't made clear through this revision. It's there in my head, but isn't being called out enough to be clear to the reader. Because there are mages on the other side of the border. The rough geography of things is probably another place I've dropped the ball on this round of revisions. There aren't too many points that are vital to be aware of, but I've definitely neglected a few of the ones that are significant. Ugh. I mentioned some of this in the one message I sent, but this is definitely something I need to figure out how to portray a little better. Both here and leading into this chapter so that the details in this chapter come across with the emphasis they're supposed to. I have ideas for how to do this, but they won't really get incorporated until the next big revision, since I want to keep pressing forward for now. Thanks so much for the thoughts!

  24. Hi all, Suggest that people vote more, write more and put in more RP, and generally obscure things better. I did some quick checks on a hunch and probably because I'm gonna enjoy grouching at Araris about this but: Recall that Warform and Stormform must vote every cycle: of all the people who voted today, we have moderate reason to reduce this to a pool of six players. Recall that Scholarform must create a post of > 150 words each Day: of all the people who posted D2, we have moderate reason to reduce this to a pool of six players as well. I expect the Elim kill to potentially target this pool, especially where it does not overlap with the Warform pool. Recall that Artform must create a RP post of > 100 words each Cycle: of all the people who have posted so far, we have a three player pool of Artform candidates, some of which overlaps with the Warform and Scholarform pools, meaning that the ability to work out any candidate within the pools helps us - and the Elims - narrow down who is in which form. I hesitated to bring this up because I feel like it could be detrimental, but I am ultimately using open source information here. Anything I know, the Elim team can work out for themselves with a little elbow grease and the unholy powers of Google Sheets. Even worse, they know which of their own are in Stormform, and if any of their players are in this pool, then they can narrow it down even further. This is why I was eh about roleclaiming talk on D1; it's really hard for players to keep this up consistently across the game, and I learned the hard way in LG7 that seemingly-innocuous reveals can come back to bite you in the pula later on. In this game, because of form restrictions, a lot of what we do oozes information. But I think this is worth flagging because if we want to provide cover for our Scholars especially, assuming these did go to Villagers (which is an assumption), then we all have to remember to do our bit. 25. Thanks! I have indeed thought about it a fair bit. Many people find the idea of a Total War Stormlight game appealing, but I've always been a fan of the solo player story-driven experiences rather than the epic battles. As for the lore stuff, it was tough. I didn't want it to be a rehash of the game, but I also wanted the setting to feel like it mattered to both videogame-first people and book-first people. I'm sure we'll get a LOT of information about the first few Desolations in the back 5 Stormlight books anyways, so why not focus on something we probably won't get a lot of, from a different angle?

  26. It clicked with the last clue, just had to look up the name. Excellent choice and really great clues! Disclaimer: The next character will have one or more spoileriffic clues, and because it would be way to easy to mark the specific clues in seperate spoiler spaces, I will have every clue in one big spoiler space. This does not mean he or she will only appear in RoW but it might. RoW

  29. I think multiple people in the Creators Corner are working on some kind of video game. I'd like to see a Dishonored style Mistborn, with Copper letting you track Allomancers through walls. The general vibe of Dunwall and the Outsider powers do have some parallels to Mistborn.

  30. I'm pretty sure that the chief cause of the Herald's insanity is the conflict between their natural spiritual or cognitive aspects and the investiture that makes up the oathpact. We have seen that people's perception can affect investiture, and the heralds have been deified by people for millennia. Some of them, (Nale and Taln being the best examples) did not fight this change, while others (primarily Ash) fought against it semi-successfully, while others, (such as Jezrien) being mentally broken by the struggle. The fused show similar symptoms, with the Pursuer, one of the most famous of the fused, being unable to break his tradition, Raboniel thinking that she is naturally the best scholar, and many of the fused being completely insane. Notably, Leshwi seems to be the most sane of all the fused we have seen, and she also has no stories or mythology about her.

  32. I saw it Friday - wanted to make sure I caught it in the theater. Loved it. Really good job with her back story. One thing I expected at the end didn't happen: I would definitely go see it again. LOL, my only downside of going to the movies these days is not being able to easily eat popcorn! I have 1 more month with these clear aligner-style braces - first thing I'm gonna do once they're finished is stop by the theater and buy a huge bucket of popcorn!!

  33. I'm sorry for the stress I caused. How about next time I kill you first? You played a great game Steel, it's great to have you back. I am pleased to have entertained you. As I said in the GM PM, the Gods of Luck and Chance greatly favour me when I have a kill role. Although, I don't think I've ever won a game where I had a kill role. Balance in all things I suppose. There is a very good reason why I tend not to be given village kill roles as you can see. Sorry Araris, it really was just a coin toss between you are Devotary. For those that want to know, here's why I killed who I did. Night 1 I killed Wei. We all know why, because they had been revealed as Master Kohga. Kas was also kind/smart enough to send Wei a Durian fruit knowing it would go to Link upon Wei’s death. Many thanks Kas, it saved me a lot of worrying about sudden Night death. Night 2 was Araris. This was a little bit of luck. In all the games that Araris, Devotary and myself have played together, not once that I can recall have we all been village together so I had a 50/50 shot which I felt was better than targeting anyone else. Night 3 resulted in TJ’s death. Oops. The way they went after TUO on Day 3 who was known to be inactive via GM posting and their following vote move onto Drake when the TUO bandwagon had too much steam felt like an elim move. When Drake was revealed to have been seeked the following Night and was confident they weren’t going to die (likely due to having a Durian) I decided that instead of going after a revealed elim that taking out another one would be better and TJ couldn’t be Zelda else why the hard TUO push when they had a revealed elim scan. Overall, that cycle just had TJ elim vibes radiating from it. Night 4 I spent in quiet reflection of my actions. Night 5 Purple died by my hand. This one was pure luck. After the loss of Wei, Araris and Drake I felt that going after one of the newer players would be best and Purple ended up being the (un)lucky one I targeted. Night 6 orders were placed to kill Steel until near the end of my time online when Kayla posted “i'm loving this it's a great first dip into these kinds of games and everyone is very helpful”. This told me that either they had plenty of PMs, which seemed unlikely, or that they were getting their helpful advice from a Doc which meant they were evil. Night 7 and Gremlin. They survived the execution and then lied about how they survived and their role. Seemed pretty clear cut that they were evil. Oops. It didn’t help that I thought that Daruk would be evil for balance reasons. Village Beetle and Mipha strongly suggested that Daruk would be a good fit for the elims. Well played Biplet and Striker. Night 8 meditated on the fact twice now I’ve killed two elims before striking down a villager. Thank you very much for that Durian. It saved me tons of stress knowing I couldn't be one-shotted and the game just ending. I slept easy knowing I had a life up my sleeve. It was a huge difference maker for me. No worries. If I really wanted to push for the win, I could've just pointed out that you claimed to have roleblocked me so I couldn't made the kill. But, I also thought you had to be evil since the elims were really underpowered this game. Thank you, thank you. *bows* I do admit that all the posts after I killed Purple and Kayla felt really good. Seeing everyone try and work out how Link was so successful was fun. Especially since I figured the elims were freaking out quite a bit themselves. Again, sorry Steel. If I knew it was you... No worries. Not many trust me and I like it that way. It let's me play games how I want to play them without having to worry about betraying someone trust. That would've been fun. I tell ya, not knowing who is going to die right at the end is a blast. You should try it. Yeah, part of that is my fault, sorry. I told Waffles that I thought Ash would be the next target and they protected then. I also let slip that I thought Devotary was Link to see what they would do as I felt the elims were getting rather desperate at that stage with all their teammates dying. Sorry. I didn't know they were a Knight at that stage. Agreed. But to be fair, that was also a large reason you won. I was convinced that the elims had to have some kind of protection. If it wasn't for that, you might've been my target N7 instead of Gremlin. I hope to see you again in future games. Perhaps you will trust me next time. My only regret this game is that I don't get to keep Links sword and that Beedles last Pot was broken when I died. I tried to keep it safe, I really did. Good thing you didn't take me up on my offer Striker. I told you D1 I'd be lynched.

  35. Disclaimer: I know Steelheart isn't cosmere. This is just a crazy idea idea I thought of. After she reincarnates, Megan can draw objects out of other universes or "possibility" universes. The cosmere is a universe, so Megan could draw stuff out of it. So it is possible for Hoid to appear in The Reckoners. When Megan talks about Firefight (The parallel universe her/him) she says that the things she draws through might keep the laws from their universe, so powers from the cosmere could work in the reckonerverse, so it is possible to have coinshots in Newcargo.

  43. I mean don't we all? If we did not we would not feel or think that way. He is also quite open to self reflection like when Megan points out that killing Stealheart will have bad effects David has a hard time figuring out if what he wants is still right. Thoes are the things he knows about. If you want large quantities of new not particularly relevent information that has no bearing on the plot I recommend The Phoenix Guards quite a fun book. However David knows about guns, his city, and epics. Having him know other stuff is out of character for him. Did it? Keeping or not keeping a secret both have consequences. Maybe wait till the end of the book until you decide weather it was worth it or not. The team prior to David's arrival was loosing. He gave them several of their biggest wins. He might need a dressing down but that does not mean that he is not entitled to state his opinion and have it respected. Well he is pretty young. People are treating him like a child so that is how he ends up acting. He clearly respects them but they are also not listening to real evidence that Megan cared about him and the team. They are letting their paranoia get in the way of smart decision making. Also he has been more then pulling his weight. Since his addition to the team their have been no casualties and they have scored many wins.
