  1. Well, as good a time as any to do this, I guess. (She says as she procrastinates packing.) I think some of you already know, but this is my official goodbye-for-now for the next week. I might swing by on mobile, but I might not have time to. So, I'll see you then. *hugs*

  6. I suspect that Skybreaker Division will allow hypersonic flight, once someone figures it out. Windrunners have Adhesion, which affects pressure and vacuum. They shape the air, so they're able to do things like push back the storm, or create an air current that keeps the squad together. Skybreakers don't have that. If they fling themselves hard enough into the air, it will push them and slow them. The solution is Division. They could separate the molecules of air in front of themselves and fly without resistance. It's not like they need to breathe while they've got light anyway. And then we'd know what Sky Breaking refers to.

  7. This theory came to my mind after I read some of death rattles that still have no meaning Turns out there are some sentence that foreshadow a great body of water that fall from a very long storms. That storms can possibly be everstorm/highstorm or perhaps combination of both A man stood on a cliffside and watched his homeland fall into dust. The waters surged beneath, so far beneath. And he heard a child crying. They were his own tears —Collected on Tanatesev 1171, 30 seconds pre-death, by the Silent Gatherers. Subject was a cobbler of some renown. I believe this rattle refers to szeth’s feeling. Sinovar, Szeth’s home, have many mountain that surround it. Will sinovar crumble then got flooded? I'm cold. Mother, I'm cold. Mother? Why can I still hear the rain? Will it stop? —Collected on Vevishes 1172, 32 seconds pre-death, by the Silent Gatherers. Subject was a lighteyed female child, approximately six years old. This one refers to a rosharan people feeling amidst this very long storm. Light grows so distant. The storm never stops. I am broken, and all around me have died. I weep for the end of all things. He has won. Oh, he has beaten us. —Collected on Palahakev 1173, 16 seconds pre-death, by the Silent Gatherers. Subject was a Thaylen sailor. This might implied that it will be cause by odium (Now Todium). Very long storm will cause the sun to be blocked so sky will turn into night. You might also can find ‘long night’ foreshadowing from this : So the night will reign, for the choice of honor is life... —Observed circa Ishi 1173 by Taravangian. Subject was King Valam of Jah Keved. The day was ours, but they took it. Stormfather! You cannot have it. The day is ours. They come, rasping, and the lights fail. Oh, Stormfather! —Collected circa Tanat 1173 by Taravangian. Subject was a young boy. The darkness becomes a palace. Let it rule! Let it rule! —Collected on Kakevah 1173, 22 seconds pre-death, by the Silent Gatherers. Subject was a darkeyed Selay man of unknown profession. I believe this will happened in book 5. Brandon need a bitter ending for book 5 so stormlight archive can continue through book 6 to 10. I believe Todium will somehow create eternal global storm on roshar. This will cause catastrophic apocalyptic event that make living people of roshar migrate to shadesmar. Remember that shadesmar have reverse ecology to the real world? Land in shadesmar is sea in real world while sea in real world is land. So this flood will make shadesmar more occupiable with more land than before. But I believe not all of roshar will be flooded. Mountain will still stand tall above waters so urithru and horneater peak most likely still be safe. This will become a great strategic tool to make dalinar lose. If dalinar lose, Todium will have him to become his general to conquer the rest of cosmere. With this, Todium will be not afraid to lose. If dalinar win, he will still need to have conquer another cosmere’s world or at least will have to find any new world to occupy. They can’t live in Shadesmar forever. After all, if they can, why did people of ashyn (Human in Roshar ancestors) conquer roshar in the first place?

  9. The Night of Sorrows. I have a similar theory - that by the end of Book 5, Odium would find a way to block or destroy Honor's Perpendicularity, so that no more Stormlight can reach Roshar. It would be like an extra long Weeping. And why do people weep? Because of sorrow. So what is the appropriate name for a long time of weeping? The Night of Sorrows. Although I disagree on this being a tool to make Dalinar lose. I think it'll be an outcome of the Contest of Champions.

  11. So, this is something that has been bugging me for a while. In the epigraphs of the Way of Kings (possibly WoR, I haven’t checked ‘cause I’m lazy) it says that Odium is the most dangerous of the 16 Shards. So, if Odium is the antagonist of the Stormlight Archive, then who will be the antagonist of the greater Cosmere plot? The answer: Odium himself. Let me explain. It has been established that Odium is raising an army to fight in a “greater war.” Whether Taravangian is continuing this plot is a matter of debate, but for the purpose of this theory, I’ll assume he is. It seems like Taravangian would want to rule the cosmere so that he could “save” it. So, I believe either KoW or SA 10 will end with Odium being freed from Roshar and going to go raise his army somewhere else during the time between SA and Era 4 Mistborn. It would be a nice ending for the SA characters, but it would leave loose ends for Era 4 to tie up. Let me know if I missed anything obvious. Or, if you have any thoughts that might help me expand on this.

  13. I had this question(maybe a theory?) That...is are the magic systems based on the world a shard is on and not the shard itself? Like Scadrial is metallic arts, and it has nothing to do with Preservation or Ruin. While those can change the system some after they invest in it and flavor it their own way(Mistborn/Herm/etc), it would always going to be associated with metals. Nalthis would be associated with colors, Roshar soulcasting(?), Sel Patterns(not 100%, trying to find a connection here), and etc. Though the evidence is a little touch and go, it could explain why Preservation and Ruin both use metals, Why Honor and Cultivation both use surgebinding(or maybe Rhythms?). There is a small amount of evidence of this being why Trell and Odium exist, though those are corrupted from someone else's investiture(they are red?). Like why aren't those shards using their 'own' powers, because the powers that they have when they invest on a planet is based on the planet. The thing that probably most likely supports this is Automony, They have investiture in two locations and it isn't the same power, though they have their own flavor(small things making something magical?). But we also somewhat know that every shard has their own god metal, so that means that they have potential to be metallic based, but don't focus on that. And Odium does have his own spren, so what if there could be Preservation spren as well? That all shard could have their own spren, if the invested on Roshar. Though Scadrial was created by Preservation and Ruin, so I don't know why it is magic based what it is, maybe could do something with the star? This part somewhat escapes me, Scardial could have just defaulted to metals I guess, not sure about this one. This might have to do with the "Pure Tones" part of Brandon's system, perhaps not only shards have a tone, but planet can(but doesn't have to) have their own tones/magical systems, and shards can invest what is already there and make it their own, unless they just make their own planet or go to one that had nothing to build upon? We do know that Roshar had some stuff going before Honor/Cult got there. Maybe it is a little of both, they could make their own magical systems, but it cost more investiture than just buying in what is already there? Like Preservation and Ruin could make their own magic system, but that is all they can do, while Automny can hop onto all these worlds where it is already set but be on multiple? I feel like I have contradicted myself here and could prove/disapprove myself, but I wonder other people's thoughts on this. This post feels like a mess because it was mostly written at 2 am and I got another look at it this morning before I posted it.

  19. An old man, tottering, leaning on his walking stick for support, stepped into his office. He closed the door with a heavy sigh, slumping into the straight-backed chair in a way that made the old wood creak in protest. Ignoring his furniture, he grabbed the folder he'd been looking at for the past week, now grubby with his fingerprints on its sleek cover. Labour Reports, week of 5 Vinuarch. All the numbers were in red. A disaster for Demas Starrick, that cruel manager and symbol of the careless decadence of the new businessmen. Or perhaps he was an icon of hope in a rapidly industrialising world, providing jobs for those who were formerly impoverished skaa.REPLYING TO YOUR TELEGRAM STOP Darrel did not much care about the spin of either side now. He had been everywhere. Member of the Terris Synod in Tathingdwen for the longest time, getting caught up in time trouble and finding himself hawking wares as a merchant in Silverlight to survive, then acquiring Dominion, and with it nearly the Cosmere itself. And now he had given it all up, been Returned to Scadrial as a man without powers at the request of Mercy. To live the rest of his ordinary life as best he could. And he was not about to get caught up in the latest petty squabble of labourers and managers. It was not going to happen. It simply didn't matter anymore. He closed the folder again. He was tired. It was time to go home, take a nap, and finally hand in his resignation to Starrick while he wouldn't have time to object. Maybe in that order. Maybe not. Bending over his cane, he stood and faced the door. And stepped back in surprise, teetering dangerously. I HAVE ALREADY REFUSED TO REMOVE THE POLICE COMMISSIONER OF BOSTON STOP I DID NOT APPOINT HIM STOP A tall, thin, hooded figure stood in the doorway, a lit match in hand. In the other, somehow, were the labour reports he had just set on the desk. How did this man get them? He felt anger flare in him. His arm moved to grasp the reports, but the man just leaned back, bringing the match closer to the thin paper. "Wait!" Darrel broke in, croaking. "I need those! What do you want?" HE CAN ASSUME NO POSITION WHICH THE COURTS WOULD UPHOLD EXCEPT WHAT THE PEOPLE HAVE BY THE AUTHORITY OF THEIR LAW VESTED IN HIM STOP "What do I want?" a raspy, elderly voice answered. "I want you, Darrel, to get involved in one final adventure for my sake." The hood dropped, revealing the age-blotted face of one of the old Scadrian nobility. A long grey eyebrow ran above his piercing eyes, which stared into Darrel's, prompting the spike of dread to rise to the surface at last. HE SPEAKS ONLY WITH THEIR VOICE STOP THE RIGHT OF THE POLICE OF BOSTON TO AFFILIATE HAS ALWAYS BEEN QUESTIONED COMMA NEVER GRANTED COMMA IS NOW PROHIBITED STOP "Olaf," he spit. "Enjoying getting the last word on me after all these years?" THE SUGGESTION OF PRESIDENT WILSON DOES NOT APPLY TO BOSTON STOP THERE THE POLICE HAVE REMAINED ON DUTY STOP "It's Lord Ffnord, to you," said the count nonchalantly, riffling the report papers. "Anyway, it's about time I gave you a chance to do something besides rot in that wizened body of yours. We're both old fogeys, now, but we can make one last play for the good of Elendel." His eye glinted. "Just like the good old days. Here, take these. You'll need them." A pair of badly dyed leather gloves were thrust into his hand. HERE THE POLICEMANS UNION LEFT THEIR DUTY COMMA AN ACTION WHICH PRESIDENT WILSON CHARACTERIZED AS A CRIME AGAINST CIVILIZATION STOP Darrel looked up, bewildered, through the familiar haze of black smoke. "How in the name of the God Beyond did you get your arsonist paws on these?" YOUR ASSERTION THAT THE COMMISSIONER WAS WRONG CANNOT JUSTIFY THE WRONG OF LEAVING THE CITY UNGUARDED STOP "Not your concern," he replied. "Now, it's time to get serious..." THAT FURNISHED THE OPPORTUNITY COMMA THE CRIMINAL ELEMENT FURNISHED THE ACTION STOP Signing up as Darrel, an old man who's seen one too many scrapes and just wants to retire, rust it all. Except he somehow can't. Looking forward to being trolled by Kas once again Pardon the poorly written RP, I got excited to sign up as soon as I saw it was a Kas game and kinda rushed it. 25. MR51: Come On Down To Irontown (aka Assassin's Creed: Elendel but Avalon.) Scadrial is transforming. Railways are being built to connect the civilised octants of Elendel with the far-flung cities and towns in the Roughs. In Elendel itself, factories are springing up all over, employing unprecedented numbers of workers. Harmony willing, Elendel will see a new era of prosperity and technological advancement. But all of this comes at a cost. Hundreds of workers find themselves increasingly crammed into small dormitories meant to take less than half their numbers. Soot and smoke from the factories linger most heavily in the industrial district, Irontown, like the legends of ash in the old days before the Final Ascension. Hours are long and the work is hard and the employers brutal. The nobles and factory owners glut themselves on boxings, and you count every last clip in the hopes of making it somewhere. Maybe it was the time Starrick’s thugs broke the legs of the last workers to demand better pay. Or maybe it was the time molten iron splashed on Tomas’s face. You still see him begging on the street on the way to your shift. They threw him out like slag. In recent days, a small group of factory workers meeting at the local establishment, The Bent Boxing, finally decide to take matters into their own hands. Come on down to Irontown, Comrade, where desperate dreams choke beneath an iron-grey sky and ash and soot are thick like the tar. Where the blood flows in the gutters and lines the pockets of the wealthy. Where the bones of the poor are buried beneath the towers that thrust into the sky, belching smog into the air and leeching poison into the waters. Come on down to Irontown, and light the flames of revolution. Oppression has to end. General Rules: Win Conditions: Roles: General Housekeeping: Quick Links: Sign-ups are open now and will close on Friday, 25th June 2021, at 2300hrs SGT (GMT +8). Rollovers will take place at the same time.

  26. So, recently the fact that spren are super weird just kind of wiggled into my brain and wouldn't leave until I'd tried to parse it out. So, I devised a couple of theories that might explain why spren only manifest on Roshar, and nowhere else in the Cosmere. Individual Sections will be put in spoiler tags for length purposes, although I'd pretty much say if you've read Era 1 and 2, Elantris, and SA 1-4, you should be fine. If you have any ideas of how to streamline these theories, or any of your own feel free to post them! Really, I just want to talk about spren and figure out why they're weird in the ways that they are. Introduction: What is a Spren?: This brings us back to the question, what is different about spren, and why do they only appear on Roshar (and to a lesser extent Braize)? If they are ‘ideas’ as Pattern claims, then why do they not appear on other sufficiently Invested planets with sapient life to imagine these concepts? At the moment, I have two working theories as to why this is. Theory 1: Shardic choice Theory 2: Spren exist because Realms interact differently on Roshar: I apologize in advance to those of you who are more 'evidence' based theorycrafters. I simply didn't have the time or patience (or ebooks) to look up every WoB or quote referenced. Like I said at the beginning if anyone has other thoughts to streamline either of these ideas, or any ideas of their own about why spren only manifest on Roshar, I would love to hear it!

  32. Knights Radiant like Dalinar, Navani, Lift, and Kaladin would argue against her. Besides, Jasnah is brilliant but she's far from perfect. Trust me, the loop hole theories came out LONG after I had thought up this one. The fact that they work together to me simply means there's something to be seen there. Nothing, but isn't that why we theorize in the first place? We see what we think amounts to evidence in what's happening, take stock at what happens, and then theorize about will happen. I choose to believe my theory because at this moment, it makes the most logical, thematic, and meta sense. I can pick out pieces and see where it's leading to, because it paints a picture. Yours simply doesn't to me. Another problem I see with your interpretation is that it doesn't fit the syntax of the death rattle. If I'm interpreting you correctly, you are saying that Taravangian's choice is life, and that he did the honorable thing in the face of darkness. But if that was the case, wouldn't the syntax of the death rattle itself be "for the night will reign, so the choice of honor is life" instead of what it is? The death rattle reads like an "if, then" clause. "if the choice of honor is life, then night will reign." Your theory, from what I understand, goes with the reverse. Which reminds me of another point: Except for the fact that he lied, cheated, and was directly responsible for the massacre of unknown amounts of his own people (the hospitals were under Kharbranth) and others in order to do this. Very few Orders would call this honorable by any stretch of the meaning. Duty and honor are two separate things. Taravangian did his duty well, but it was achieved in a far from honorable fashion.

  33. The consistent thing with death rattles is (especially ones written with "I") they are the spoken or internal thoughts of a person at some point in time. The only characters that might talk with that voice that we've seen are possibly heralds. Dalinar doesnt talk like that, Taravangian might but he would have no problem slitting a throat. The only characters that come to mind that might speak like that are heralds. Cultivation or some character we havent fully met yet might be thinking this.

  34. This is a really good take on the subject. Maybe instead of the bond happening "in reverse" what's going on is the balance is shifting a little bit, Adolin's giving more and receiving less than he would if it were a traditional bond between spren and human/singer.

  35. Overall I agree with @Mandamon and @C_Vallion that this is great, that it is neat to get answers, but that we need more sprinkled before. This is just surprising, not 'surprising yet inevitable.' But generally this was a sound installment and I had a blast, so I won't belabor the other points. Previous posters covered them well. As I go - pg 2: this is all great. I'm hooked - pg 4: AWESOME first beat. - pg 8: That seems like kind of a bum deal for the ashen people, even if it is 'luxury' - also I still don't understand why the ashen people don't leave. I think I need a better reason or hook for why they stay. Just 'luxury' without social interaction can't be worth it - pg 9: ah I see. It's addressed now. Excellent - pg 10: the energy bit is confusing - pg 11: does a kid want perfect clarity though? This seems like more of a hook for a scholar than a pubescent girl. I don't buy that its a hook for C - aww, I love the last line. Very kid

  36. I also believe that this is a case of Hoid failing. However, I also think maybe it's not a purely bad thing. Hoid has Fortune, and he always is where he needs to be. Maybe the purpose of him talking to Odium was actually so he could be tricked (and genuinely tricked), but in so doing being able to figure out that he has been tricked, and being able to infer that something is off without TOdium finding out. We already see him noticing that his breaths have been tampered with, and although he doesn't seem to make the connection right away, it seems inevitable that he will quite soon figure out that something is wrong with specifically his breaths in which he stores his memory. This encounter might have been a master plan 5d chess move, but in that case I don't think Hoid knew it at the time. The "true terror" line makes it hard to believe Hoid is in control of the situation.

  37. This observation is true, but incomplete. Many of us are considering the second question moot as soon as the first is answered positively. That is a nice can of worms. It more or less denies objective justification. If something is right, how can it become false because you like to do it?

So an aluminum sheath could stop Nightblood's effects and a thick enough piece of aluminium could block a Shardblade. Covering something magical in aluminium is a good way to contain them but it doesn't transform them in any way. Eg: Nightblood, his sheath is made of aluminium. He does not turn non magical when he's sheathed, he's just contained.

  45. Weird, I came into it thinking Taravangian completely fulfilled his deal with Odium. He completed every task he was asked to do. Burning the diagram didn't matter as Rayse had (most) of it now. Also, Odium didn't want anything more from it as far as we were told. The deal wasn't 100% honesty either, as not telling Odium about Renarin didn't break the deal. Taravangian sacrificed his life and his reputation to do the Veden attack, he got the upper Radiants out of the tower, and was slipping info to Odium. Odium came and said to Taravangian that nothing more was required of Taravangian. The deal was that Taravangian would betray allies and do everything Odium asked. There was no mention of Odium and Taravangian protecting each other physically. I honestly think the spirit of the deal was to do with information and betrayal of allies on Taravangian's part. What I am more curious is if Taravabgian can release Odium from the deal, or if Taravangian is stuck with it. I hope the deal still lives as that would make for an interesting call-back later on (especially with the theory that Kal's mother, and maybe Kal, were born in Karbrandth and therefor protected)

  46. I’d say yes. Taravangian made the deal with Odium not Rayse, given the deal between Odium and Dalinar stands then that deal must still stand. Taravangian agreed to serve Odium and he seemed to feel that when Odium decided that betraying Dalinar would suffice as his part of the deal. So I’d say yeah as part of the deal it’s safe. but given he now controls the vessel and can somewhat shape its intent then Taravangian can stop any harm coming to it anyways.

  47. Welcome, users of Arcanum! As you peruse this archive of knowledge about all things Brandon, you will likely notice that the underlying search engine can sometimes produce unexpected results. We tried to hire some researchers from the Palanaeum to do all the work for you, but they charge so storming much! So until we figure out how to find a few thousand broams you’ll need to do things on your own. This short guide aims to make this process a little easier for you. Basic Search The most direct way to search for content is the omnipresent search bar. Enter the search terms and the engine will come back with results sorted by relevance - the most relevant on top. The details of how each result is ranked is complex (and may, in fact, change over time), but there are some things you may want to be aware of: Tags and exact matches are highly ranked. If you search for a term that matches an existing tag (e.g. Hoid or RAFO), entries tagged with the appropriate tag will show up near the top. Similarly, if your search term doesn’t have a matching tag (e.g. Oracle), entries that contain this specific term will tend to float higher. The software powering Arcanum - Palanaeum - supports the ability to find entries that contain words similar to your search term, though generally they will be ranked lower than exact hits. For example, searching for Cultivate will bring up results that include the word (or are tagged with) Cultivation. Searching for Multiple Keywords As you might expect, Arcanum supports the ability to search for multiple keywords at the same time. If you use this feature, it is important to remember that, by default, Arcanum will aggregate the results of your “X Y” query with the results of an “X <OR> Y” query - i.e. you should still expect entries containing both of your search terms to float near the top, but following them you will find some entries that contain only one of your keywords. For example, searching for Honor Cultivation will, predictably, put this entry containing both words near the top, but as you scroll down (and to later pages) you will see this entry, which contains only the word “honor”, as well as this one, which contains only “Cultivation”. If you want to circumvent this default behavior and search for “X <AND> Y” - i.e. if you want only results that contain all of your search terms - you can replace the spaces ( ) in your query with either plus signs (+) or ampersands (&). For example, to search only for entries that contain both Honor and Cultivation, search for Honor+Cultivation or Honor&Cultivation. Your browser’s search function (for example, Ctrl+F / Cmd+F) can be very helpful in quickly sifting through variations of terms. Let’s say you’re searching for WoBs on Steelpushing, which does not have a tag and could be referred to by many different phrases (Steelpushing, Ironpulling, Steelsight, Coinshots, Lurchers). You can do a search for “Allomancy,” and then use your browser’s search feature to jump to each of those phrases in turn. Searching for Exact Phrases Sometimes searching for specific keywords is not what you are looking for. If there is a specific phrase you want to search, e.g. because you are hunting for a specific entry you remember only partially, you can surround the search phrase with quotation marks. For example, if you want to find out something about the Second Ideal of the Knights Radiant, you might want to search for "Second Ideal". Advanced Search For the hardcore WoB hunters among you, Arcanum offers some advanced searching/filtering capabilities. Search in date range: show only entries whose date is within the specified range. Note that this is the date an entry was recorded, not the date it was entered in the archive. In other words, entries from the Arcanum Unbounded Chicago signing will all have an entry date of December 6, 2016 (the event’s date), even if the event itself was entered in Arcanum a week later. This feature is generally useful if you are looking for entries from a specific tour or ones prior to / after a certain book's release. Search for speaker: show only entries that include a specific speaker. Most Arcanum entries come from unknown sources, so the speaker will often be marked as simply Questioner, but lines coming from known members of the community, as well as ones from members of Team Sanderson / Dragonsteel Entertainment will usually be credited appropriately. So, if you are curious about what Brandon’s art director and assistant Isaac Stewart has said on record, you could search for him specifically. Search for tags: show only entries tagged with the specified tags. Interested in all questions about Hoid that have been RAFO’d? You can search for those. Please be aware that choosing and clarifying tags is a part of the review process every event goes through; it is possible that some entries have not been properly tagged yet. Exclude those tags: show only entries not tagged with the specified tags. Interested in all questions about Hoid that have not been RAFO’d? You can search for that too. Advanced...-est? Search There is one more trick, deep in our sleeves, but it is only for those who dare brave the dark corners of Palanaeum's backend - PostgresSQL. It is a trick so dark, we can only speak of it in whispers. It is the ability to apply some of PostgresSQL's text search operators directly in Arcanum. We speak of this: "But Argent," I hear you cry out in dismay. "we know not how to perform these dark rituals! Do we need to sacrifice cats and rats for this power?" No, friend, no sacrifices are needed. Let me teach you some tricks: AND queries together: we touched on these earlier, so this should be of no surprise - you can use the && operator (written as just & in Arcanum's search bar) to search for "X <AND> Y". As mentioned earlier, you can search for Honor&Cultivation and expect to see only entries that contain both search terms. OR queries together: these are less useful, as Arcanum treats all spaces as || operators. Still, if you wanted to, you could use the Postgres OR operator (written as just | - that's a vertical bar - in Arcanum's search bar). So you should expect the results for Honor Cultivation and Honor|Cultivation to return identical results. Negate a query: here's something new. Those of you with strong GoogleFu will know that you can force Google to exclude certain keywords from its results by prepending a minus sign to them. Well, you can achieve the same thing in Arcanum by prepending an exclamation mark (!). Remember how Honor&Cultivation gave you only results that included both Honor and Cultivation? Well, you can search for Honor&!Cultivation if you want results with Honor and not Cultivation (note the ! in the query) - i.e. results that have only Honor. Remember, spaces are equivalent to ORs, so searching for Honor !Cultivation will actually give you all entries that either have Honor or don't have Cultivation; and since the overwhelming majority of entries don't have Cultivation, you end up with pretty much every entry in the archive... Query following a query: I'll confess, this doesn't strike me as too useful, but you can constrain your query so it makes sure some search terms appear before others. You'd do this with the <-> operator. For example, you could search for Bridge<->Four (and get pretty much what you would expect, results where "Bridge" appears before "Four"), or you could search for Four<->Bridge (and find out that the word "Four" has never appeared before the word "Bridge" in Arcanum). Query containing / is contained in a query: This is one of those features that feel like they could be useful, but I can't come up with a good use case to show them off. In short, it allows you search for one search term in the results of another, effectively giving you the intersection of two queries. This is accomplished with the @> and <@ operators, where the angle bracket indicates the direction of containment. For example, you could search for Sadeas@>flute if you were interested in the results of a Sadeas query which contain "flute" (or flute@>Sadeas for flute query results that contain Sadeas, which is equivalent). The thing is, both of those seem equivalent to the results of searching for flute&Sadeas, so maybe this only comes in handy with even more complex queries. Best not to worry about this one, I think, unless you know PostgresSQL. Especially since I can't figure out how to make the other direction of this operator, the "is contained in" version (<@) to work... Event Search At the moment, the functionality to search events has not been implemented. If you are looking for a particular event, scroll through the Event list. To make this a little easier, you can change the number of events you see per page to (up to) 100, and then use your browser's search/find feature (Ctrl+F / Cmd + F).
