  3. Okay, GM stepping in: just want to remind players that sharing notes docs/powerpoints/spreadsheets is not allowed, even if it’s just screenshots. It’s perfectly okay to take those notes, but not to share them. In addition I’d like to remind everyone that this is a game. Yes we all get frustrated, but sometimes you need to take a step back and relax. While no one likes being accused of being a liar, this game is about lying and manipulation. And sometimes things don’t go our way, and that’s okay. It happens to all of us sometimes.

  4. Here's a bunch of life updates because I haven't posted here in forever. 1st: For my final project I had to interview a professional scientist. It was in a Zoom meeting and was with a marine biologist. This normally would be something fun and exciting. The problem is...I'M STORMING AWKWARD. I ran out of questions within five minutes and had no idea how to carry on the conversation. He was really nice about it though, but I'm looking over the video recordings and there's multiple parts that make me facepalm. I can already tell this is going to be something that haunts me for the next few weeks. 2nd: A few days ago I posted a draft of a prologue I wrote to a writing feedback subreddit. I was kind of dared to do it by my friend, but I was like "Eh, whatever. Most posts don't get read unless they blow up; I'll just do this and see what happens." Anyways, it kind of became one of the top posts on the subreddit for a few days. That still meant that only 150 people read it, but... that seems like a lot. Especially because most posts only get 10 to 30 upvotes. I wasn't expecting anything, but somehow I ended up with private messages from people telling me they enjoyed it and wanted more. I feel slightly bad because it was a random decision and I know I could've put more work into it, but I didn't actually think anyone would read it in the first place. So now I learned that there's an audience of people out there who want the rest of the story. I'm excited but also slightly terrified because most of my writing is just me being a weirdo and having absolutely no idea what I'm doing. 3rd: Uhh. My AP Lang test is tomorrow. I'm going to have to hand write three essays in two hours. Pray for my poor left hand because during the mock exam it was in PAIN

The three bright “stars” (actually delvers) represent Chaser, Gran Gran, and Spensa’s great grandmother. 12. I’ve been thinking lately about nicrosil in Allomancy/Feruchemy and I was wondering why Brandon wanted to make the protagonist of Era 3 a Nicroburst. I think I figured out the answer: medallions make Allomantic nicrosil insanely overpowered. There will always be the standard effects of Allomantic nicrosil: duralumin-flaring your allies’ misting powers (or opponents in some cases). Which is a decent ability. But if Era 2 medallions become available to our Nicroburst protagonist, they will be able to use compounding to create their own Keyed medallions permanently. Theoretically they would only need a shaving of any medallion. Say we have a Connection medallion. The medallion would appear to have two components: a full Nicrosilmind which grants the user Feruchemical nicrosil and fConnection and an empty Duraluminmind that the user can then use (we’ve seen it used to a blank one’s Locational Connection thus far). Our Nicroburst could instead swallow the medallion and burn the nicrosil. This would grant tenfold the Feruchemical nicrosil and Feruchemical duralumin which the Nicroburst can then store inside their own Nicrosilminds which would be Keyed to their Identity. (Sidenote on tapping medallions. It seems to me that tapping a Nicrosilmind can be done by anyone as long as it is either Unkeyed or Keyed to them. This may be turn out to be a false axiom). Since our Nicroburst has natural Allomantic nicrosil, they can always compound their existing feruchemical abilities stored in their Nicrosilminds and thus have that power in perpetuity. A small shaving of any medallion would be enough because of the power of compounding. I don’t see any reason why medallions couldn’t grant Allomancy, so theoretically a Nicroburst could have Fullborn abilities given the right resources. Or any other ability that can be stored in a Nicrosilmind. All of this makes a resourceful Nicroburst an immensely powerful individual in the cosmere. I hope to see these mechanics play out in Era 3; I guess we’ll see in 5 years!

  13. Hello, all! I am present for the moment, and I should be present more often from now on! I am working hard so I can spend time here each day. Before... yeah. Life happened, and I'm so sorry to everyone who that inconvenienced. Especially my favourite people, the RPers! (Not that if you don't RP, you can't be one of my favourite people; but if you do, then you are generally one of my favourite people.) So I am doing life things and I will need explanations of what is happening on the RPs. Would people in those be willing to send me PMs to explain? Thank you. Glad to see you all again, Connie!!! (I have passed 80 followers and I'm kinda shocked.)

  15. I think the answer to the question is "no". The Sibling was never a deadeye. They CHOSE to remain hidden and thought dead. Dabbid didn't seek out The Sibling. How could he? No one in the tower even knew they existed. THEY chose to contact him, which indicates that they were awake, aware, and capable of action. I'd argue that The Sibling helped to rehabilitate Dabbid, rather than the other way around.

  16. I believe the Sibling says outright that after they bound BAM they intentionally ended their bond with Melishi. No oaths were broken. They lost their light as an unintentional consequence of BAM’s capture. As the Radiants were already abandoning Urithiru, and subsequently breaking their oaths, there was no one either willing or able to check up on the Sibling, so it was assumed that the Sibling became a deadeye.

  17. "Servants' quarters are right in here." The other waitress yawned loudly, but didn't seem too bothered by the fact that she'd been woken up at such an hour. "You're new here, right?" "Yeah." Wendy poked her head into the room. It was full of sleeping waitresses, as could've been expected. "How does... waitressing work?" "Well, you're expected to take the orders of any masters or guests of the palace. Disobeying their orders will get you beaten. Do your work, try not to get stabbed in the back by the others, don't try to seduce the squires, and save Kimby for a last resort." She rubbed her eyes. "And try not to make eye contact with any of the crusty nobles. You're technically allowed to say no if they try to pull you into bed, but that doesn't mean they'll take it for an answer. If it's a choice between running away and getting beaten or staying there and getting beat, then you can make the call; we won't judge you either way." "I--" "Yup. This place is pretty much hell." The waitress pointed at an empty bunk. "You take that one. Call me if you need anything. Or... don't. Actually, please don't. I'd rather not... do. Anything. 'Night."

  18. Legally, if you are manipulated into entering a contract, then the contract is almost certainly not binding. There are numerous defenses to contract formation, especially if you have been manipulated into entering it; a contract doesn't have to specify that coercion isn't allowed, just like how a contract doesn't have to specify that you're not supposed to break the law to perform it--being coerced into signing a contract specifically would fall under the defense of entering into a contract under duress. Your example about parents threatening to disown their children if they don't enter into a contract may not, necessarily, be illegal--it's kind of ambiguous--but it almost certainly wouldn't be a valid contract. I just wanted to thank Grey for saying some things that definitely needed to be said about the anger of the oppressed being villainized, and how there really aren't many differences between "good lighteyes" and "bad lighteyes". She made a lot of valid points from very nuanced angles, and as a POC, I wanted her to know that her views were very appreciated.

  22. I wouldn't trust Whimsy's help if they show up. Valor might help, but she could go either way. Invention would like fabrials probably, but they're notably hard to get into contact with and probably not willing to break that streak to help Roshar. Mercy has a known history of working with Odium and may do so again if circumstances arise, so I wouldn't trust them either. Autonomy probably wouldn't help without the condition of planting another one of the mini-shards on Roshar. Dominion and Devotion may not be able to, depending on events on Sel and if it actually was possible to stitch them back together (probably not). Harmony has issues helping his own planet, plus BoM showed that he's already basically under siege from foreign Investiture and may not be able to leave to help, beyond potentially sending kandra out besides the one that's already there. Endowment may consider herself already helping, between Azure, Vasher, and Nightblood all being on Roshar and playing significant roles. Ambition doesn't even have the faint hope of getting put back together than Dominion and Devotion do, so count that one out. And of course, Honor, Cultivation, and Odium are already involved on Roshar. I'm pretty sure that's all 14 confirmed Shards, but I'm not confident I've assessed this correctly.

  24. So? People can accept help, that's not unreasonable NO No no no no, that is not the case. See Dalinar wanted to change, from the moment he heard Jasnah reading WoK change was inevitable. If Dalianr hadn't wanted to become a better man he would never have gone to the nightwatcher, he would have fallen to dispair and he would have become Odium's champion. But that isn't the case.

  32. I had a theory after reading Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell that deadeyes are similar to shades. They both act in similar ways and they share some similar features: To try to confirm my theory I looked on the Coppermind to see if deadeyes were cognitive shadows, like shades are. There was nothing definitive so I searched deadeye WOBs and this was the first result: I am pretty sure that Brandon is referring to shades in this WOB. Have we ever confirmed if deadeyes are bonded spren cognitive shadows? I also found this other interesting WOB: This WOB makes me think that the Ba-Ado-Mishram capture caused the deadeyes and/or caused the Heralds issues theory by Kalak could really be a misdirection. I think that the real reason is the splintering of Honor. Now it could be possible that Ba-Ado-Mishram somehow stole Honor's bonding powers during his last days in the False Desolation and her capture was the last act that completely splintered Honor, or it could be a misdirection. Thoughts?

It means that maybe the reclaim halls like in vorin myth.

  36. This reminds me of a crackpot idea I had during the Hearthstone chapters in part 1, but what if that region is associated with Honor somehow? Navani mentions hearing a "pure tone" when Dalinar opens the perpendicularity there, and in Oathbringer Syl mentions hearing a "pure tone like cracked crystal" when they arrive in Hearthstone. Could this be Honor's tone? Also, the Windrunner River runs through that area, and Nazh has marked Hearthstone on the Alethkar map in Oathbringer. If I recall correctly from Dalinar's visions, Alethkar was generally associated with Windrunners, So perhaps there is some connection between Honor and the Hearthstone area, similar to how Cultivation is associated with the Valley.

  39. Im going with "Knives of Will" or maybe "Knives of Withering", with it being a reference to Shardblades in general, some surge we've not seen, or the Odiumblade(s). Of course, those dont really fit the part where these are all In-World written works. Agreed on the "w" not being War for a second time, I dont think any of them will repeat. If these are to be In-World Works, and Book 5 is going to be the Big Middle event of the Stormlight Archive as a whole, I could see "The Killing of Wit" or something similarly dramatic from a Cosmere standpoint. Additional K Words: Knives, Killing/Killer, Knoll/Knell, Key, Kin/Kindred, Knot Additional W Words: Withering, Wager, Wander/Wanderer, Warden, Warrior, Waters, Whisper
