  2. I have had this theory for a long time now that Cultivation cultivated Syl as a part of her gambit. But listen to me for once. This might sound crazy but might make sense in a minute. I guess we can all agree that Syl is different from most of the honorspren. She is just too jovial and lighthearted than most honorspren we have seen. Well... also Rua, but that's probably due to his bond with the Lopen. Then I reread the part in Oathbringer when Kaladin returns to Hearthstone. Another pure voice. Pure being the keyword here. I'm certain that spren can hear the Rhythms of Roshar. And the tones of the three Shards are described to be the pure tones of Roshar in RoW. Honor is dead. Why would Odium bother Syl? It is Cultivation's voice. Like tapped crystal. Dalinar described Cultivation's voice to be like 'tumbling stones'. Tapped crystal. Tumbling stone. Maybe I'm overthinking, but both of these voices are of Cultivation. What else did she do? Probably kept Syl sleeping for that millennium. I mean, we can't take the explanation to be Syl's mind being childish. That... doesn't sound Brando's style to me. 'Cause there is only her. Only her. A single spren slept for a thousand years after breaking her bond. Coincidence? I think not. Why? The bigger question is why. Ok now. Hear me. There is too much in my head that I can't remember now or can't explain. But here is my theory. Kaladin is the 'Son of Tanavast'. The successor of Tanavast (refer to this WoB). And Cultivaton wants him alive. Syl is mostly the reason Kal is alive. And that's why we love her. In Book 5, Dalinar loses the contest of champions. Yet, somehow, he will be able to reforge Honor. Instead of bearing the Shard himself, he gives it to Kaladin because now he is bound to serve Odium. And Kal ascends to Honor. I don't have much to support this other than: Kal's first chapter being 'Honor is Dead'. Kal saying 'Honor is Dead'. Cultivation only influences people who will somehow be related to godhood. And Dalinar being too obvious a choice for Honor.

  5. Happy New Year! I’ll be awake when all your time zones (and mine) hit 2021 but I probably won’t be in the Shard. Thanks for making my 2020 not terrible! The Shard was a huge part of why this year didn’t suck completely

  7. Hey, happy new year's eve, every body. Hopefully next year won't be as crappy. Or maybe it'll be worse! We don't know. But whatever comes, I know we'll have each other. If you're lactose intolerant, be careful, this message is very cheesy.

  8. So In Way of Kings we get this death rattle, “In the storm I awaken, falling, spinning, grieving. ” In 2018 Brandon stated that we had not yet seen this death rattle on screen. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/369-skyward-san-francisco-signing/#e11616 I am pretty sure that this Death Rattle referred to the Scene when Kaladin jumped out of the window to save Lirin. He is falling without full use of his powers, grieving the loss of Teft, In the middle of a high storm. When he swears the forth oath he awakens to the height of his power. We also know that this is a scene that Brandon has been planning for a long time. https://wob.coppermind.net/events/452-youtube-livestream-23/#e14518 I think it all fits, Thoughts?

  9. I was rereading the parts of the Diagram given in WoR and, well first I found evidence Taravagian has set up Szeth to become Truthless and that he most likely had access to fortune that day, but then I read the last one When I first read WoR I thought this refereed to Eshonai, after reading RoW not only does this obviously refer to Rlain*, the Bridger of Minds. This also means he could see he'd become Odium and beyond, since Rlain has yet to become a danger to Taravagian's plans. And then there's this one That one never really made sense, Oathbringer proved Taravangian becoming king of Roshar would have no effect in his bargain with Odium, it would still only have saved Kharbranth. Now it means Taravangian will try to become Adonalsium, he will not stop at shattering the shards for the same reason he will never really be king of Sel while the Dor exists and he will never be king of Threnody while the Evil exist. @Leuthie suggested the "One parshendi" could actually refer to Venli and the Everstorm, it's possible but I think the everstorm would still had happen if the Alethi had tried to win the war instantly as all what Venli needed to make it happen was the Listener being desperate, on the other hand Rlain would never had become a part of bridge four if they had. Of course if the past month have taught me anything it's that I know far less about the Cosmere than I think and my theories often end up WoBed within the day, so feel free to point any incoherences you see

  10. Dunno if I'll be on for my midnight, so HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone who's living in tomorrow, and Happy Eve to those of us who aren't! I love you all so much, and I'm so happy to be a part of this community!!

  11. Yes. No, mainly just the dying and being set up as a symbol and possibly creating a religion. Well, actually, Kal is just about as stubborn as Kelsier. I could see him refusing to pass into the Beyond also, stating that there were people who needed him. So dying, becoming a ghost, and returning to life as a caped vigilante?

  12. That was my thought! Like, were Caesar’s killers hemalurgists?

  13. I really, really liked Viv's chapters far more than Siri's. I kind of rolled my eyes over how she immediately goes full on Disney Princess with Susebron. Vivenna's foolhardy efforts of heroism hit more at home to me, and I liked that she didn't go on being a political pawn for anybody. I dislike arranged marriages in novels, but Brandon Sanderson usually slows down to let some development happen between the two involved, but I really didn't feel like that development happened between Siri and Susebron. Still, here you go. I saw this today and realized that it is the best summary of the two sisters' plot points/personalities that I've ever seen.

  17. Mirette remained standing just inside the tavern, unable to move any further. She was too far away to pick out individual conversations, only hearing fragmented words. Common sense told her to turn around, leave and never return. But Raven wouldn’t accept that, and besides, she had nowhere else to go. She glanced at the Inquisitor again. Those metal eyes were more piercing than they should’ve been. But... if it truly was an Inquisitor, it hadn’t harmed anyone yet. Steeling herself, she walked over and took a seat at the bar, beginning to eavesdrop as she waited for the barkeep. @Ookla the Stick

  18. I think normally this sort of thing would go in a general chat forum, but it's RoW spoilers. So it has to go here, right? Dunno why I'm suddenly having Stormlight dreams when I've been on a Mistborn kick the last week or two, but there you go. Odium crashed a formal Kholin dinner, in person in a physical form, and no one could really do anything about it because that happens in Mistborn a lot politics. So Odium was sitting next to Dalinar, and awkwardly chatting him up. Odium said, "So, just to clarify, this contract says that if I kill you I get to keep you, correct?" And Dalinar said, yeah, that was how it went. And then Odium just took this huge sword out of nowhere and stabbed Dalinar in the chest, sheath and all. And Dalinar died (reader: "Noooooooo!") and Odium possessed his corpse.

  20. [spoilers for Mistborn+ and Secret History] It's been a long while since I've read Mistborn, so help me out if I say something wrong, but towards the end of Rhythm of War, Kaladin kept reminding me of Kelsier. Not their characters so much as how other people responded to them. Kaladin was always a sort of "larger than life" action hero, but this really amps up during RoW until people are making the Shash glyphs on their foreheads. It felt a bit cult-ish to me and reminded me of Kelsier and some of the more fanatical elements of the Church of the Survivor. I know Kaladin's not doing it on purpose (unlike Kelsier) and doesn't want something from the people (unlike Kelsier), but I DO worry that there may be a similar final set up for Kaladin in the future...

  26. I completely agree. Note that "Everything" is capitalized. And that always means something in the Cosmere ... A capitalized "Everything" does not mean Roshar, I'm pretty sure of that.

  28. I put you both in later rounds, so it should work. If not I’ll figure something out. _________________________________________________________________________ After the congratulating conversations die down, Ghanderflaffle checks something written on her hand, squinting at it before speaking again. ”Yes, yes congrats to Vyre. Our next battle will consist of Lopen, Jasnah Kholin, and the Shard Preservation. You have the same time alllotment as the others, get to writing!” __________________________________________________________________________ The next battle will be @Shard of Reading as Lopen, @Matrim's Dice as Preservation, and @The Awakened Salad as Jasnah. You will have 72 hours, just as the others (unless you need some more time with New Years and such) which means your roasts will be due Sunday, January 3rd at 11:00 AM (US central). Good luck to you three!

  30. This is here since the new shards are confined in ROW Was looking through these and wow do a lot of them jump out as AHA moments. I SWEAR there was a whimsy Aon but I for the life of me can't find it now. I didn't post all the ones that jump out, but here is a good list. Brandon has said he tinkered with names, but these are still quite interesting. We have too many for to not to be a coincidence. Some names have changed like Ingenuity, but I wonder how many clues are here. One thing I noticed is that some of these confirmed Shard Aons are a lot thicker, and I wonder if line thickness plays any part? Shard Options: Chastity, Beauty, Punishment/Retribution, Love/devotion, Bravery/Valor, Endownment, Mercy, Justice, Unity, Grace, Hope, Loyalty, Security Dawnshard Options Link Here: https://coppermind.net/wiki/Aon

  32. I suspect that the Chasmfiends were once much more intelligent, but lost their ability to think much like the singers because of whatever happened during the Recreance. When the Everstorm came, it healed their minds as it did for singers all over Roshar.

  34. He's also 2 levels removed from the actions we see on screen with the Ghostbloods. Ultimately, he's responsible, but we're talking about a multiple planet, multiple planes of existence organization. There are 2 Subway shops within 1 mile of me, one is meticulously clean and always staffed and stocked, the other always looks like it just barely made it through a localized tornado, you often have to hit the bell for someone to notice you walked in, and they never have the italian herbs and cheese bread. That's two sandwich shops in the same damn town. Running organizations is hard.

  35. I don’t think Sylladin is gonna happen, and honestly, I think a romantic relationship would be a step down compared to the intimacy they already have with the Nahel Bond. Their souls are literally combined, I don’t think you can get more intimate than that. There’s no good real world analogy for it, because it’s somehow platonic, but at the same time so much more intimate than any possible relationship irl. I’m perfectly happy with their relationship as it is, and I severely doubt that anything romantic would ever stem from it.

  36. From the album: The Knight Radiant

As Always happens the minute I finish an image I think of a better way to do it. The battle with MM was incredible at least in my mind. I felt like the previous image didn't capture the hugeness of Re-Shephir enough and besides I wanted to make a few figures including Adolin in his Armor. LOved this scene from the moment I`ve read it! Finally it's done.
