  2. Gabe Orielle watched through the windows into a filthy skaa thieving den, his hands shaking. The Steel Ministry had killed his father for being unable to deal with this thieving crew. Even though they were only a cadet branch of the Orielles, news of the death had spread all the way to Luthadel, where the rest of the Orielles were based. Gabe had been given a choice: fix his father’s mistakes or have the entire cadet branch disowned for its failures. The sheer number of skaa here was disgusting. Such rooting, dirty creatures. Gabe looked among them, hoping to pick out the Steel Ministry’s infiltrators, but none of them stood out to him. Each of them looked equally stupid, equally subhuman, equally likely to stab him without a second thought. He let out a quiet sob. How was he supposed to do this by himself? Then, miracle of miracles, a fight broke out. One of the skaa pointed at another, accusing them of keeping a low profile. More jumped on the accusation. Then a skaa accused someone else, backing it up with their fists. Yes! Maybe he could do this! Gabe downed a vial of zinc shavings and burned it, pulling on the emotions of all the skaa there. Anger, righteousness, fear. The small fight turned into a full brawl. Gabe snuck past the fighting skaa -- they weren’t his real goal. Nobody heard his footsteps. He went down a hallway, into another room, this one a touch less dirty than the other one. It had actual furniture here, a desk with an ornate chair and a bed with a large skaa snoring on it. He pulled a paper from his pocket and compared the face on it to the face of the skaa. Check. This was Stink, crewleader of the thieving crew that had plagued his father for so long. He could do this. With this, Gabe would restore glory to his branch of the Orielles. He would make up for his father’s failings. Gabe tiptoed to the bed, drew a dagger, and buried it in Stink’s chest. Stink jerked awake and threw his body forward onto Gabe’s. He reached his hands around Gabe’s neck and squeezed. “You’re not killing me so easily, ya Ministry punk!” Stink roared. Spots swam in Gabe’s vision. He pummeled at Stink with his fists, but the weight was too much. Even for a wounded man, Stink was strong. Another, feminine voice sounded in the distance. “Stink? Is everything okay?” Then, someone else entered the room. With desperate panic, Gabe flared the last of his zinc and yanked on everything he could get in this new person. Ambition. Calm. Cruelty. Opportunism. Then he yanked on Stink’s sense of despair. The woman picked up the chair and brought it down upon Stink’s head. Then, she brought it down upon Gabe’s. His vision went black, and he knew no more. Hey y’all, this is Rae again. I’m sorry to tell you this, but… Stink is dead. A Steel Ministry assassin killed him. I was there to comfort him in his last moments, and he said that he wanted me to run the crew. So here I am. Here’s my first order: stop fighting each other. From what I hear, a whole lot of people bludgeoned Lumin to death, and someone took advantage of the chaos to knife Vilt. Reading over there looks like he keeled over from sheer fright. We can’t keep doing this, people! From now on, if you’re suspicious of someone, send them to me and we’ll make a jail for them. Feather, Varen, Caliex, I’m nominating you to bury the bodies. The rest of you are going to scrub this room clean from all the bloodstains, you hear me? Go on, get to it. Remember, if you’re suspicious of anyone, jail them, don’t kill them. Vote count: Mist: 5 (Ashbringer, Straw, TJ Shade, Eternum, Fifth Scholar) Frozen Mint: 4 (Vapor, Mist, MysticLotus, StrikerEZ Fifth Scholar: 3 (Frozen Mint, Devotary of Spontaneity, Lahilt) Lahilt is killed, and is a Skaa, Mist is a Skaa, and Shard of Reading dies of inactivity, and is also a Skaa Player list:

  4. Where are they now: Windrunners - Kaladin = stuck on the edge of the 4th, but on the 3rd Teft = Just swore the 3rd and earned his blade Lopen = Just swore the 2nd and became a Windrunner The rest of Bridge 4 = Still first ideal squires (except maybe Drehy and Rlain and some of the new recruits) Skybreakers - Nale = 5th ideal skybreaker but broken and too rigid and strict, controlling the others, none have gone past the 4th Szeth = Recently swore the 3rd Ideal, is just meeting his spren and will start to train in Division Others = Lots of 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and squires sworn to Nale or controlled by him Dustbringer - Malata = Likely a 3rd ideal radiant due to her sword and her use of Division Ash = Likely has not met her spren yet but may have attracted one (my speculation) Edgedancer - Lift = 3rd Ideal radiant with a blade and all surges Adolin = May be awakening his dead Cultivation spren blade, no oaths Truthwatchers - Stump = unknown but probably at least the first ideal Ym = Deceased but maybe the first Ideal Renarin = Unknown how he is different due to his spren being corrupted by Sja Anat but may be a 3rd Ideal Radiant. Lightweaver - Shallan = Likely of the third Ideal, but it's confused by her regression and recovery. Must have been 3rd ideal as a youth, but regressed to basically nothing. Has stated four deep truths since the Cryptics returned to her. I suspect one to reawaken Pattern, one each to reswear the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I think the truth "I am terrified" that first gets her into Shademar was just to reawaken the bond that had been basically dead. Tien = Deceased, likely a proto-radiant who hadn't yet sworn the 1st ideal Elhokar = Deceased, killed on the verge of swearing the 1st Ideal Vathah = A squire to Shallan, has likely not sworn any ideals Hoid = A 1st Ideal Lightweaver who bonded with the spren in the process of bonding Elhokar before he died. Elsecallers - Jasnah = Only known Elsecaller, likely of the 4th ideal making her the only new Radiant of the 4th Ideal Willshaper - Venli = Only known Willshaper, only of the 1st Ideal but the first ever Singer Radiant Eshonai = Originally attacted Timbre, died before swearing any oaths Stoneward - Taln = The herald of the Stonewards but likely has not yet drawn a Stoneward Spren Bondsmith - Dalinar = A 3rd Ideal Radiant sworn to the Storm Father. I doubt he skipped Ideals as he didn't get plate from all those Glory Spren 2 others yet to emerge = The Sibling and the Nightwatcher remain unbonded

  5. SirWolfe Presents: A bumbling idiot trying to roast one of the most intelligent people on Roshar, written by someone with little to no experience with insulting people. With a followup by his trusty Terrisman steward Handerwym. Warnings: Spoilers for Pits of Eltania and the Stormlight Archive. *Jak looks over his shoulder at the Terrisman besides him.* Handerwym, you’re up! *SirWolfe*: Now begins a followup by Handerwym that's optional to read, but in my opinion, a better read than Jak's terrible half-roast.

  6. Hello Everyone, This is a topic that is very near to home for me as a blind person myself. It will therefor be somewhat long. First of all, Blind Radiant, welcome to the forum. I'm glad to find another blind sole on this forum. Before I do a deeper dive into how plausible it is for a blind person to become a Radiant, let's take a look at a few facts. 1. How many Surges could a blind person use effectively? 10.. They would be able to use them all as effectively as their sighted counterparts. How they would use them would simply differ. 2. What special traits would a blind person need to be considered as a Radiant above and beyond those of their sighted counterparts? None, blind people are a cross-section of humanity and could therefore exhibit all the traits a sighted person can. 3. Why would a Spren consider bonding a blind Radiant? Why not? If that person is the best fit for the job, there is absolutely no reason. Okay, now that those points are out of the way, let's do a deeper dive, shall we? To understand the probability of a blind person becoming a Radiant, we need to understand a little more about my answer to point number two above. When I say that blind people are a cross-section of humanity, I mean that both for the types of traits and personality they exhibit as well as the variety of interests and aspirations they have. There are blind straight people, blind gay people, nice blind people, truly awful blind people, blind construction workers, blind heart surgeons, blind murderers, blind rapists, blind actors, blind academics, those who are blind and like sports, those who are blind and hate sports, blind white people, blind brown people, parents who are blind, children who are blind, blind people who are positive about their disability and don't let it stop them from doing ANYTHING, blind people who let their disability stop them, blind soldiers (yes, active soldiers), blinded veterans who will never fight again, pilots who are blind, blind people afraid of flying, blind mayors, blind federal politicians, ... I think you get the point. The thing is, blindness does not define what a person goes on to do but it can, and often does, shape how a person goes on to do it. Another point to consider when discussing the probability of Spren bonding blind people is the question of whether or not the blind person is at a "disadvantage" when compared to a sighted person. Often a determining factor in the success of blind people in the world is one of learning opportunity. Just like any sighted person who has had the chance to learn and experience a particular thing, for example the opportunity to learn to read, has an advantage over someone who has not, blind people who have had the opportunity to learn how to be proficient in the skills of blindness have a huge leg up over those who have not. To put this in the context of the Stormlight Archive, a blind person who has had the opportunity to learn to travel independently would have no problem navigating using the Surge of Transportation without a sighted guide even if most individuals would consider the task to require sight. Many blind people travel to unfamiliar environments unassisted. Similarly, a blind Radiant who had had the opportunity to learn to fight non-visually would have no problem effectively fighting as a Wind runner. Again, there are many blind people who fight entirely non-visually, often against sighted opponents. Opportunity is a very important concept in the field of blindness. Blind people are often compared to other blind people and told they aren't good enough because they don't have a particular skill or a particular set of knowledge. However, those skills and knowledge sets are acquired, like in my example of sighted people and reading, through opportunity. There is no shame in not being an independent traveller if one has never had the chance to learn. Opportunities are a combination of those given to a blind person, and those created by oneself. Another point that factors into the whole discussion of opportunity and skills is society. Quite often blind people are limited by the misconceptions about blindness that the general populous have. Simply reading this thread is enough to see that at play. The fact that many are willing to dismiss the idea of blind Radiants outright or that some feel that blind people are less worthy for selection by Spren clearly shows how far we have to go in changing societal views on the abilities of blind people. It is many of these very misconceptions that lead society to deny blind people the opportunities to reach for the stars. Do these misconceptions exist in the world of The Stormlight Archive? where I work, we're an organization of blind and Deafblind people speaking for ourselves. Our work to change societal views can be summed up somewhat is breaking down myths and misconceptions about blindness/Deafblindness to show the world that blind/Deafblind folks (myself included) can participate on terms of equality with our sighted and hearing counterparts. Have they reached the point in the world of The Stormlight Archive where blind people are scene as equal? Have they recognized the abilities of blind people? Do they allow them to hold positions of power, leadership, or other positions of influence? Are blind people given opportunities to become well-versed in the skills of blindness? These questions are truly what's at the heart of whether or not blind people could be Radiants. P.S. A guide Cremling would be somehow amusing. P.P.S. I am a big believer in a person's choice to use a cane verses a guide dog. At different points in my life I've preferred a cane to a guide dog and the other way around. It's about whatever works for someone. Neither is more valid than the other.

  7. It was some time before Darson returned from wherever he had taken Pyria, though the young loyalist was no longer with him. The remaining few allomancers and feruchemists were still in the main room, as Darson’s hazekillers were not letting them leave. Tensions were high, as they knew that one of them must be a loyalist. All eyes turned towards Darson as he entered the room, a hazekiller shutting the door behind him. There were six of them now. Lance Neverwatch, Lahilt, TJ Shade, Lumen, Faleast, and Reginald. One of them was a loyalist. And one of them was a Kandra. Darson had been sure to keep his hazekillers in pairs of two so the Kandra could not infiltrate their ranks. “Well, I’ve got good news and bad news,” Darson said with a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Fortunately, the young Pyria was able to be...persuaded into telling me that only one of you is a traitor. Unfortunately, she did not know the identity of her compatriot.” Darson watched as the six men and women before him avoided his eyes as he looked across them. All except for Lumen, the young woman who no one had been able to quite figure out during their extended stay here. Several moments seemed to pass, each one stretching on for what felt like minutes, the sweat beginning to bead on the foreheads of the people gathered in the room as they waited for Darson to speak again. Finally, Darson grew tired of their silence. “Fine,” he said, pointing to one of his hazekillers who moved towards Lahilt and grabbed him. “If you will not reveal yourself, I will simply kill each of you one by one.” The hazekiller brought a knife up to Lahilt’s throat, ready to cut his neck- “It’s me,” Lumen says, stepping away from the others. “I’m the loyalist.” The others all turned to stare at her. Darson smiled. “Thank you. Kill her.” The hazekillers all pulled their guns out to shoot her, but in the blink of an eye she was behind the hazekiller who had been holding Lahilt and shot the man in the back of the chest with his own gun. The metalborn scattered as several bullets from the hazekillers made their way through where Lumen had been just a moment ago. “Don’t let her escape!” Darson yelled. From his pocket, he pulled out a vial of steel flakes from his coat. Quickly, he popped the cork from the vial, swallowing it down, eyes peering around for Lumen, who’d flashed again and had a dagger up against the throat of another hazekiller. Darson fumbled at a coin, shot it off trying to aim at Lumen’s head, but too slow - a line of red appeared at the hazekillers throat as he collapsed and Lumen was nowhere to be seen. “She went this way!” called one of the others. Faleast rushed towards one of the corridors, and Darson followed, grabbing a few more boxings from his pocket. He looked down the corridor, and saw Lumen bolting down it, trying to find some exit. Darson smiled - even with her new abilities, there was no way he missed. Carefully, he judged the angle, feeling the coin in his hand, when he felt something go through his chest - he looked down, and saw long, silvery claws poking through his chest. He looked over at Faleast… only it wasn’t Faleast, not anymore. Slowly, Faleast’s face began to morph between faces Darson knew - Araris, Xino, Kynedath - though each one was slightly wrong, as if their features were being mixed and melded together. All of them were smiling at him. “It will be… good, to add another face to my collection,” the Kandra whispered, sliding between its many faces. Darson felt the silvery mass slowly spreading across him, over his chest, up onto his face. He tried to scream, but it entered his mouth, blocking off all sound. It swarmed over his nose, his eyes, until his entire face was covered. He couldn’t breathe, he could only feel the kandra’s slimy mass slowly… absorbing him. Darson’s lungs were fighting for air - desperately, he shot the remaining coins in his hand out through the Kandra, but if the Kandra even noticed the attack, it didn’t give a sign. His body convulsed, but gradually, his thrashing died down, as Darson faded into unconsciousness. There was a still silence for a few moments after Faleast and Darson followed Lumen down the corridor. There had been a few moments of chaos as the hazekillers’ bullets had grazed against some of the metalborn, but Reginald was fine. At least, he felt fine. He quickly checked his body for wounds, as maybe he had been hit and the adrenaline of the moment had made him not notice it. Thankfully there was no blood anywhere, so he was probably fine. Finally, after what felt like an eternity as the hazekillers tended to those who had remained in the main room, Darson returned alone from the corridor, his gun in his hand. “Lumen was waiting for us,” he said calmly. “She got Faleast, though I managed to shoot her before she could get away. Is everyone alright?” Since when has Darson ever cared about our wellbeing? Reginald thought to himself, watching the man carefully. He walked as if he were afraid, when normally even the way he walked would command the attention of the room. His eyes darted across the room, as if he were looking for ways out of the building. “We’re alright,” TJ said, slowly standing up. Lahilt and Lance had been injured, and TJ and the hazekillers were helping them. “You really got her? So this is all over?” Darson nodded, stopping a little bit away from TJ and talking to him, though Reginald was much closer to him. He studied the man, something in him telling him something was wrong. “Sorry to interrupt,” Reginald said, “but I’m curious why you appear unharmed, if you say Lumen attacked you and Faleast?” The room froze for a moment as everyone held their breath. Darson looked at Reginald for a moment before lunging at him, his hands turning to claws. Reginald leapt back, tapping pewter to gain some strength as the Kandra recovered and lunged at him again. The two struggled for just a moment, before a bullet tore through the Kandra. It quickly glanced around and saw the others rushing towards the two of them, then made a dash towards an exit, forgoing Darson’s bones as it squeezed its body through the cracks of a window. “Quickly!” Reginald said, heading back towards the corridor where the Kandra had come from. “Lumen is probably still alive! The Kandra must’ve taken its chance to try and escape during all this chaos.” The others followed him as he raced down the corridor, his eyes straining to find Lumen in the darkness. She must’ve shot out all the lights in the corridor as she’d gone through. The corridor led to a dead end. “There’s no windows,” Reginald said, “she has to be in one of these rooms. Carefully start opening each door.” They spent several minutes going through and opening every door in the corridor to no luck. Finally, they narrowed it down to one more room. They gathered around the door as Reginald carefully set his hand on the doorknob. He opened the door, bursting into the room. Lumen fired off a quick shot at him, but thankfully it hit the metal armor he had under his clothing. He stumbled backwards, hitting a hazekiller behind him as they entered the room. A coin flew from TJ’s hand towards Lumen, then suddenly veered over to the left once it got close to her. Reginald blinked and Lumen’s knife was in his side. He tapped pewter once again, grabbing onto Lumen before she could get away. She made to pull away, but Reginald would not let her go. The others froze in place as the two grappled, before Lumen kicked his knee and he fell to the ground, pulling her down with him. They rolled even farther away from the others, and for a moment they moved towards them before they once again froze in place. Reginald was pinned by Lumen, though she was struggling to maintain her control over him as she attempted to pull a knife out of her belt. Reginald managed to get a hand around her wrist and snapped it, the knife falling to the ground. He flipped her over, grabbing the knife as he did so, and quickly stabbed it into her chest. Lumen gasped up blood as she looked up at Reginald, the life fading from her eyes. “Long live,” she coughed up some more blood as her dying voice rasped out the words, “the old Elendel.” Reginald pushed the knife further into her chest and the last of her life faded from her eyes. The others began to move again, rushing towards him as he sat up. It was over. Finally, after a week of nothing but death and accusations and treachery, it was all over. The Game is Over! Congratulations to the PRE Operatives for winning the game! I'd also personally like to congratulate 2 players - @The Young Pyromancer, for convincing literally everyone in the game that you were a villager and compromising all their trust groups - that's really tricky to pull off, and if a few things had gone differently in the last 2 cycles, it could have won you the game. And secondly to @Ashbringer, who had an uphill battle after becoming Kandra much less than halfway through the game, and still managed to do really well, being one of the last 5 players to stay alive. Striker and I will probably post our respective GM Thoughts over the next few days. Docs and Links: Elim Doc Kandra Doc Spec/Dead Doc GM Spreadsheet (2 quick notes: 1 - Don't open this on your mobile, you might crash your phone. 2 - There are quite a few errors in here Striker and I couldn't be bothered fixing. To see peoples boxings each cycle, go to the boxings tab, not the main sheet, which is wrong.) Player List:

  8. 1. This one has been addressed above by @ChickenLiberty, but I think they are far more likely to appreciate the fact that the other group has a consistent law. The point of their code is to remove emotion from their decisions - and so their oath requires them to judge entirely based off that code, not on personal decisions or emotions. 2. Note that this is the Skybreakers under Nale - not inherently a Skybreaker ideal, but rather Nale's idea on how things must go. 3. Different concepts of justice arise in our world between different political/religious groups. Disagreement is inevitable; conflict is not. The Skybreakers simply have to determine how they interact with those whose laws or ideas of justice differ, and apply that system consistently.

  9. My personal theory is that Dalinar kinda already has. I think that his whole "I am Unity" could have been the fifth ideal - that's why the Stormfather was so surprised: because he skipped the other ones. There isn't a ton of evidence to back it up, so it's more of a headcanon, but still.

  10. I have a simple proposal for how the Heralds can be A. born on Ashyn (except maybe Ash), B. Were elevated to heralds during the first Desolation to combat the fused who came in the first desolation, and C. Were not supernaturally old and didn't have extended lifespans... Why do we assume the humans came to Ashyn all at once? Why can't they have come in waves over tens or hundreds of years? We assume Ashyn was destroyed suddenly, but it can't have been too sudden as there was enough time to evacuate a large amount of people to Shinovar on Roshar and to create the floating cities of Ashyn that harbored cities worth of Ashynites. What if there were early refugees who left at the beginning of some war to move to Roshar, then the war gets worse and more people move and Shinovar starts to get full, the first humans go over the mountains, the war begins to destroy the planet with vast, destructive powers being unleashed on whatever the sides were and the planet is basically destroyed. During this period the Shin-Ahsynites start to kill Singers and the Singers fight back. The angriest of the Singers are offered great power and revenge by Odium in return for their obedience (Odium is playing both sides). Jesrien, King of one of the floating cities that is failing brings his people in a migration to Roshar and enters into a raging war with the fused giving the Singers a terrible advantage. Honor offers Jesrien and nine of his people the chance to oppose the fused and bring humanity over to Honor instead of Odium. This doesn't have a lot of evidence, but it solves the strange timeline issues around the first desolation and the migration of the Radiants.

  11. I think it can be assumed that our main characters will eventually get to the 5th Ideal. After all, they are leaders in their respective orders. (except Szeth but he's the only good guy in his order)

  12. So the chapter where Jasnah kills those men (36 The Lesson) and the following chapter (37 Sides) where Kaladin and Lirin confront Roshone and Kaladin learns Lirin has been lying about the spheres are deliberately juxtaposed. On the Shattered Plains, Kaladin hangs strung up before the highstorm in a delirious state and we the reader are offered these two chapters about morality and ethics to chew on while we await his fate. The two chapters are structured in a similar manner, like Brandon was teaching a class. They begin in a safe place, Hesina's Kitchen, the Bath House. They travel towards a tense confrontation. Then the ethics of the parent figure are revealed to be complicated and dubious. Shallan and Kaladin each experience this as a sort of growing moment, a progress toward maturity. Following the confrontation there is a period of reflection between the adult and child, and the chapter is concluded by the child making a choice in imitation of the parent. Shallan choses to steal the soulcaster. Kaladin chooses to become a surgeon and go by his full name. The Juxtaposition is not meant to be entirely deconstructed. As hoid says, the storytellers job is to raise questions not answer them. Yet, these experiences are meant to be compared by the reader, even if only subconciously. What are we to make of this comparison? In many ways, Lirin's methods are more deceitful, his motives less pure. Yet, he does not kill (not even later when he could) and his acts inspire Kaladin to be a better person. Jasnah's righteous anger and dazzling magic are stunning. Yet, in the end her actions seem more like theater. Jasnah's casual priviledge and wealth seem almost nauseating besides Lirin's peaceful, desperate struggle for a handful of spheres. What a mix of character traits?! Lirin seems weak, duplicitous and genuine, Jasnah dazzling and horrific. Most telling, however, might be that Shallan despite all Jasnah's wisdom is left confused and alone. Brandon is teaching us the ideals of the Knight's Radiant in the Way of Kings. When Kaladin turns away from the honor chasm, Brandon explains life before death. Then Kaladin teaches the bridgeman to carry the bridge, putting himself the 'strongest' literally before the 'weakest'. These two chapters are meant to teach journey before destination.

  13. I'm going to do a full GM Thoughts™ post sometime in the next few days, but for now I just want to say congrats to the village for pulling off that win! And thank you so much everyone for playing! This was so much fun to run, even if it was so absolutely chaotic and messy. Also, please go show your love for Bard by upvoting the writeup. Without his help as my co-GM, this game would've failed miserably.

  15. Gateways require a level of strength in the power that are almost impossible for an AV character to achieve, they would need a lot of weaknesses to get to that strength (It's rated at around 450 points currently). I'm actually revising the One Power section of the Index in light of this discussion because I have noted that it's somewhat dated and difficult to read. Already made one update to hopefully make it easier, I removed the gender separation because 1. I feel like we can probably do away with those gender tropes here and 2. the rating scale is gender agnostic anyway other than what levels individuals could reach at the maximum but individual levels represent the same strength for both. The maximum level that can be achieved without taking weaknesses into account would rank quite low among the modern Aes Sedai. Enough to take the tests but well below average.

  18. Rollover is at an awkward time for me with my most active time the first 3 hours of the cycle. I will put my vote on Fifth Scholar I do not like how the lynch votes have been piling on only a few players .find a person who you are suspicious of and vote for them. Chaotic voting and last minute vote changes ,just to make your vote matter, will only help the Elims .

  19. I think there is a good chance all or nearly all of our main characters do say the 5th oath. Was it rare among the old Knights Radiant? I don’t remember. If there are any who don’t, my money is on Szeth. I think he’s likely to die (again). Maybe while trying to do his 4th ideal or just after it. I don’t know. He just seems even more likely to die than Kaladin. Especially since he has already basically come to terms with dying. There is a WoB somewhere saying Shallan is one further oath than Kaladin. So she is on her 4th. I actually think she’ll swear her 5th oath before Kaladin does his as well.

  21. From the album: The Longest Thread (Misadventures)

A while ago I realized how similar Star and Astral look to Aurora and Maleficent and I decided a drawing like this had to be done. There's also just a lot of Sleeping Beauty Parallels I've pointed out in CBST already; Star stopping her own heart, True Love's Kiss, even the Once Upon A Dream drawing I did a little while ago. Anyway, I used this picture as inspiration and it was a ton of fun to do.

  22. Update: Made some progress these past days! Check out the bold stuff up in the list. I'm thinking I'll post a playable version soon, btw. I just want to get coin tracker and metals working first! It will be an allomantic playground more than an actual game, though.

  23. I think it will be Kaladin. Dalinar Oath five seems like it will have some kind of cosmic implications and Kaladin was the first so narratively it makes sense to make him the last.

  24. I suspect Dalinar will move through them fastest. He's the oldest of the radiants we see often, and has probably the least change left in him. His progression kind of needs to be the fastest. Shallan will likely take a lot longer.

  25. I would like to think that if the piano had been played by the same person for a long time, then when Awakened with the "Play music" Command, it would play the same stuff its owner used to play. If it's a brand new piano, then yes, clashing chords. Clashing chords everywhere.

  27. Dalinar stood before the lightweaved map of Roshar that Shalan produced. Storms, he loomed over the map, in deep concentration. Kaladin walked into the meeting room carrying a bundle of joy that is his brother. He greeted Dalinar, who greeted back. Navani stared straight ahead. She was still bitter at the news of her sons killer being a former member of Bridge Four, a member that had tried to assassinate him during the first appearance of the Everstorm. A member that Kaladin allowed to escape because of their friendship. A member who ended her sons life at the battle for Kholinar. She could not forgive Kaladin, no matter how many bundles of joy he brought to meetings. Dalinar, on the other hand, chastised Kaladin, and looked into his tear filled eyes and understood the deep regret that his captain harbored for his decisions. In that moment, he understood that his captain had made a mistake, one which would never be repeated. Kaladin’s intentions were to introduce his family to Dalinar, but only upon seeing Navani’s reaction did it strike him that this looked likea a pathetic attempt to win over her good graces by using his adorable brother. He should have thought about that before bringing Oroden here. Syl said “your intentions were genuine, Kaladin, stop beating yourself up over what happened.” Shalan lounged on Adolin’s lap, literally glowing and giddy that they were finally married. Their public displays of affection made the common Alethi uncomfortable, but as usual, that could be blamed on Adolins Western heritage. Shalan didn’t really care. This was her husband. She let out a small squeak when she noticed Kaladin carrying his brother. She sprung to her feet and raced over. She coaxed the toddler out of his arms and began cheerfully playing with the child. Renarin stood against the wall, a solitary figure, part of the group but at the same time standing alone. He softly chatted to Glys as Jasnah paged through a book on Radiants she’d managed to uncover. They all awaited the arrival of General Khal, who wasn’t usually late to meetings. Shalan didn’t mind his tardiness as she had the best entertainment in the room as the toddler chortled at an image that she produced from one of her drawings. A moment later, the mood of the entire room changed. The room was suddenly illuminated by a bright white light, followed by a crack of thunder. Two figures appeared in the room. A wiry female dressed in black trousers and a black shirt, safehand exposed and a man dressed as her opposite, a regal white coat with white trousers. Everyone – but Dalinar – scrambled. Kaladin raced over, Sylblade in one hand, and grabbed his brother in the other. Kaladin was torn between getting his brother to safety and protecting Dalinar. He was relieved when Navani snatched the wailing boy from his arms. At the same time Zseth burst in through the doors, Jasnah threw her book aside and all the Radiants began taking in stormlight. Kaladin charged at the intruders. The female crouched, as if poised to strike. The male however jumped in between the charging captain and the female. Kaladin raised his blade to strike the man down when a bellowing call came from Dalinar. “Stand down, Captain,” was the order. Kaladin hesitated mid swing, then his blade shot out of his grip, around the man in white and landed in the hands of the female, who grasped the handle. Every piece of metal in the room began to float. Swords that hung as ornaments on the wall moved at the own volition. Spheres began took to the air along with cendelbra. The objects pointed menacingly at the member of Roshar. The diminutive female waved her hands in the air and it was clear that she was in control of all the metal. “Syl!” Kaladin screamed out. “I don’t think they are a threat. Trust me on this, please Kal,” was her response. “I’m trying to summon you, why won’t you come?” “I’m staying here on purpose. Just trust me for now.” Kaladin gritted his teeth and backed down. Zseth assumed Dalinar did not want these newcomers murdered so her backed down as well, though he stood in the room. The man in white stood between lady dressed in all black and the people of Roshar and held out his arms, palms forward, on either side of him. He looked at the girl and said “Vin, please stop this. Lets at least find out if they are hostile.” The girl named Vin replied, “Elend, this should not be.” She had a poise of steely determination on her face. “A god killed you, Elend and I died killing that god. This should not be. We should be in the afterlife.” The forms of metal still floated in the air, ready to strike at a moments notice. “I know, Vin, but we’re obviously here for a reason. I don’t think this is a situation we want to fight our way out of just yet.” Dalinar silently observed their exchange. There was another bright light followed by a crack of thunder as a third person appeared in the room. Elend and Vin were shocked at this new arrival. The former smiled, while the latter turned her floating weapons on him. He smiled. “Mistress Vin, I must apologize for bringing you here without warning. I did not have the time, and it was much easier to transport you and your husband than it was to come her myself.” A sword darted towards him, and stopped precariously close to his neck. He smiled while gently pushing the sword away. “You know that I cannot be killed by mortal weapons, Mistress.” “When Elend and I died, what was the last thing you said to us before we went to the afterlife?” “I said that I had healed your bodies and that you could return to them. You responded that that wasn’t how it worked and that you two deserved a break.” She lowered her weapons, then strode forward and gave the embraced the newcomer. Elend joined them but refrained from hugging either of them. “Where are we Sazed and why are we here?” asked Vin. “Mistress, my time here is limited. I will explain as best I can. This is another planet in the Cosmere Universe. The people in this room need your help, desperately. Ruin’s brother, Odium seeks to destroy or enslave all humans on this planet. The leader of the Knights Radiant will explain further.” “What of our friends, Breeze, Ham, Spook…..” He embraced her again, saying “it has been over a hundred years since you killed Odiums brother, Mistress. Our friends have succumbed to old age and death. They lived happy lives and did not suffer at the end. I did what I could to ease their passing. I think you’ll be please to hear that TenSoon still lives. I will inform him of these developments. I cannot linger Mistress. I must leave.” He turned to Dalinar. “These are no Knights Radiant, but they at least have experience in slaying a God. Take care of them.” He turned to Vin and Elend one last time, “I’m sorry I had to drag you out of the afterlife. Please forgive me.” He waved his hand to an empty corner of the room and chests appeared. The room burst into light again and he vanished. Vin let all her metal clang to the ground, then strode up to the chests that Sazed left behind. She opened the first chest and inside were tiny glass flasks that she knew very well. Alone with the flasks was a letter. She opened it. It said “Elend, Vin, here you will find flasks containing all 16 metals. The blue chest contained only Atium. I once again apologize for sending you here, but I could not stand by while an entire planet was destroyed. I hope you can forgive me one day.” She drank one of the viles, while pocketing a few. She turned and walked over to Elend who was introducing himself to this Dalinar. Lord Ruler, he looked intimidating. Elend grasped Dalinar’s hand and said “My name is Elend Venture. This is my wife, Vin Venture. We are here to help.” Dalinar smiled. “My name is Dalinar Kholin and I’m the leader of the Knights Radiant. Who was that person who brought you here?” Vin perched up on a chair, “his name was Sazed, that was before he became a God. Now he’s known as Harmony and he watches over the planet where Elend and I are from.” Adolin and Kaladin stood against the wall on the far side of the room, discussing the new developments. Vin notices, so she burned tin to help her here what they were saying. “What do you think, Bridgeboy?” “I’ve only just met them, but Syl is convinced they aren’t a threat and she’s usually right with these things.” Jasnah walked up to stand next to her uncle, clearly wary of these new arrivals. “You say he is a God, but he was merely a man before he became a God?” “I died killing Ruin, this Odiums brother, the power was there and Sazed seized it. He was a scholar and I couldn’t think of a better man to receive that power because he fixed my planet and saved every soul that he could.” “How could you,” she glanced up and down at Vin, “kill a God?” “Would you like to volunteer for a demonstration?” Vin said as she glared back. Elend reached out and put a hand on her shoulder. Vin met his eyes and the broken, abused, street urchin was glazing the surface. He knew exactly how she felt. He’d died. She watched him die, and in doing so saw no other reason to live, so she sacrificed herself to punish Ruin, to kill him for taking away the only thing she lived for. He smiled at her, and she relaxed a little. Vin gasped. “What’s that black thing hanging onto your collar?” “That is my spren. His name is Ivory…. Vin grew alert and scanned the room. The spindly youth standing alone, leaning against the wall had a reddish orb hovering over his shoulder. The “bridgeboy” had a blue figure or a diminutive girl sat on his shoulder. The redhead had a pattern of shifting shapes on her dress. The rest either didn’t have any of these spren, or they were hidden. “Do all of you have these spren?” Vin asked. “No, there are only a handful of Radiants who have bonded with spren,” she glanced up at Dalinar, who nodded, “these spren gift us abilities.” “What kind of abilities?” Jasnah The rest of the group treated the newcomers with distrusting glances.

  28. I wonder if this Atium change is a hint as to what he is going to do in the books. Like everyone has said already, it is clearly within Harmony's power to change the Spiritwebs of all Scadirans to be able to burn Atium without being a Mistborn. Maybe this will be the significance of the return of the "Lost Metal." Edit: If he is changing it so every Aollomancer can burn Atium does that mean every Ferring would be able to store it as well?

  29. I should have been more clear. Basically, for those who don't understand, the main group was me, TJ, Ash, and Mage, with a different one without ash because we had some suspicion of them still. We were thinking about Mage storing and Auguring while Ash bursted them, so he could protect me that night. Of course, ash HAD to point out that this would have RBed mage due to the storing drawback, which I think was a mistake from them, as otherwise the game would have been a lot closer, as mist would have gotten away scot-free. Regardless, he was unable to protect me, as he didn't have enough actions if he stored/augured to also protect me without that nicroburst. To Mist, I told you indirectly here: Mage’s expecting TJ to be attacked. Ash might Nicroburst me instead. Okay, Mage’s just Auguring. Which, because mage needed to store, meant I would not be protected. I told you again, more directly, in my list of actions. Action list: Ash bursts me TJ archives twice Mage Augurs, is blocked. Night: I have 2(3?) actions. So you "watch" me, watch someone else, and do 2 kills tonight? Mage depends, probably Augur again Would he protect TJ? TJ coinshots villager. Ash pulses someone. You have 2(1, since I think the trap uses an action) actions. So yeah, should've been more blatant, but it was there. As for how I infiltrated the groups? Well, I was actually the person who FORMED the groups in the first place . As for how I stayed trusted, well, that's for later.

  30. Yes and yes; I'm guessing 48/24 but Straw will have to confirm. On a similar housekeeping note, is there a vote minimum? What happens on ties? EDIT: @Kynedath we've had literal panda and stick characters, and much weirder names. Topaz does way less to break immersion than having to write a horse-shaped robot named UNIT 002. You're good.

  35. Okay, I started working on a big post, and then a bunch of stuff came up, so I'm scrapping that for now because I am very tired and there isn't a whole lot of time left in the cycle for me to give my thoughts. Based on what I did get a chance to look at though before I had to do things and lost all brain power to keep reading, I'm not a fan of how Shard of Reading and Mist were acting in that first cycle, seeming to basically sheep Straw's ideas out of nowhere. For now, seeing as it appears no one else really wants to lynch Frozen Mint right now, I'm going to vote for Mist. Also, here's a vote count for now: Frozen Mint (1): Lotus, Mist (4): TJ Shade, Vapor, Ashbringer, Striker, Fifth Scholar (4): Devotary, Lahilt, Mist, Frozen Mint

  36. Lahilt tipped his hat as he walked away from the small crowd of gathered survivors. He was genuinely sad that he had to leave. He had grown quite attached to the kitten... But no one can not get emotionally Involved in ones studies. He had other places to be and other objects to research. Gis la revido!! Striker and young bard: thanks for GMing an awesome game!

  37. That's a fair point, there's still just so much we don't know about the Shin. Szeth trained in all the surges, so obviously some people in the society are able to use Stormlight and the blades, but the interaction in the Rysn interlude makes it sound like soul casting things is so rare it doesn't really enter into their economy. At the same time it's a little difficult to draw any firm conclusions since both sides of the trade try to be overly humble about their offering. The Shin farmer may have been putting on a show about how rare soul cast metal is to make his offering seem relatively worse.

  38. I’m not sure how I feel about the changes to Shan. I liked how in the book Vin became obsessed with Elend, when she was supposed to be focused on other things. I do approve of Ham being a woman though. He is a good character to change for that role, and I think it makes a lot of sense.

  43. Alright, let's do some thoughts. First of all, I'd like to thank @A Joe in the Bush for running this great game. I'd also like to give shoutouts to @TJ Shade and @The Young Pyromancer for playing a great game. TJ got thrown into this game halfway through as a new player, and made some really great contributions. Pyro, meanwhile, got underestimated by a couple of people including myself, but he did a really good job at getting the village distracted and off track. Likewise, @Mist did a pretty solid job at flying under the radar while not being so quiet that it raised suspicion. @Experience also came out of left field for me as I already had discounted him as an elim based on his voting, so that was some solid distancing right there. On the village side, @Orlok Tsubodai of course did an absolutely great job, but I think @Matrim's_Dice also deserves a shout-out. Being one of the few actively analyzing villagers at Lylo is a tough position to be in, especially if you're fairly new, and so i think you did really well, all things considered. Lastly, a quick thought balance-wise. I think the way the game played out, it ended up being really close, which indicates a good balance. That having been said, I don't see how the village could have won in any less than about 10 cycles, so I do wonder if things would have gone more the elims way if everyone had been as bloodthirsty as joe expected them to be (I can't see how this game could have ended in a village win before C8, for example). edit: also, @Furamirionind, I don't think I tend to die early a lot? The village tends to avoid lynching me early because I'm a good asset to have around if I'm not evil, and the elims tend to not night-kill me early because of...reasons (being a likely protection target is one of them, I suppose)?

  44. That really depends. Renarin for example would probably have turned out more or less the same. In fact his determination to help others despite all odds could easily have been strengthened and he could have become a Truthwatcher faster as a result. When has Jasnah ever costed?

  45. Spren choose their knight for two reasons. A broken spirit web, from the struggles they have faced, to be be able to bond. The personality traits of the order they are to be. Neither of these would have anything to do with sight. Also spren lose most of their memory when they cross over from the CR so would find a human by instinct. Not all kights are warriors either, otherwise the spren wouldn't have picked Tien, the cobbler, Lift, Stumps or Shallan as child. By the logic I have seen on here, the spren would only chose the strongest, able bodied soldiers. That's simply not the case.

  46. That is not the Gavilar I know. His widow claims that he gave her ample reason to cheat on him, his brother expresses anger for never being considered, his son has a conscious unfulfilled need for his approval and even his daughter claims she had a hard time connecting with him. Also he literally locked her in the dark during a childhood episode traumatizing her. I never saw Jasnah being insecure. She knows that relying on others for tasks you can't do yourself is a necessary part of life. She may have hatted being wrong but she new better then to avoid admitting it. When she needs something drawn she directs Shallan to do it because Shallan is better at it. When she needs a ship she hires a crew of experienced sailors. None of this altered her confidence. Jasnah is also the world's preeminent feminist. She studied tactics and warfare and can use a shardblade with a reasonable level of proficiency. I think, supported by her writings, that she was confident enough in herself and her femininity not to care that her scholarly nature would be considered masculine by some bigots. You are of course entitled to your own opinion. However even though I lack personal experience but I think I can say with a great deal of confidence that being blind does not fundamentally change who you are as a person. An individual as strong confident and mature as Jasnah letting blindness get in the way of her life sounds, respectfully, almost laughable to me given how she is regarded by people the people who know her. I can just imagine a scene were Jasnah is being talked down to by one of the Alethi mean girls and just smashes her.

  47. June SAT Subject tests are canceled. I didn't learn about it just now, but its ramifications finally dawned on me in their entirety. I planned on taking three this year, two in June and one in August. The two would basically be supplemental finals studying and the third could be studied for over the summer. Except now, if I want to take them, it'll be in August (hopefully). Already more of an issue because a lot of the information won't be as freshly drilled into my head by teachers. It'll require more independent studying during a summer that I was expecting to be pretty chill. Additionally, it'd mean I'd have to take three in one day unless I wanted to be studying for a subject test during what looks like it's going to be the most stressful year I've faced to date. Yay. So I'm probably going to end up scrapping the third one since it's the one I suspect I'd do the worst on and end up just doing two come August. There are definitely bigger things I should be worrying about currently (and besides, these are subject tests, not even the actual SAT). Probably why my brain is focusing on this not really so important one.
