  2. He made a comment in the replies about Rock’s story: ”It would still need to be written. There wasn't room for it in book four, and it wouldn't really fit thematically anyway. If I don't manage to do it as a novella between four and five, I think I can make it fit in five thematically, so we'll put it there” Edit: I really wanted Rock’s story in the Horneater peaks. I respect his decision, but I’ll miss it

  3. Brandon didn't mention Vin, the questioner did. "On a battlefield" does not mean that Kaladin has his squires with him any more than it means that Kelsier has Vin with him. Brandon was asked whether Kaladin could beat Vin/Kelsier, and Brandon answered that question. Brandon did not say that Kaladin had bridge 4 with him, he said that Kaladin would beat Vin/Kelsier on a battlefield. I believe Kaladin would have beaten Amaran on his own, except that he didn't just fight Amaran, he fought Amaran, disabled him, then fought twelve fused that have thousands of years of experiece at combat at once, with two more fused getting rid of all the stormlight around him, then, while on the ground unable to stand, Rock saved him from Amaran.

  5. My name is Brent and I’ve been an avid listener to both “Writing Excuses” and all Brandon’s work on audible. I joined because I just started doing fanart of Starsight and wanted to post them here. I wasn’t able to post it because of the site’s restrictions on new members, so I’m participating in other capacities until then

Arms race sounds interesting and makes me thing Dawnshards on KR side and.... who knows on Rayse’s side. Tower secrets.... no idea but yes please. thoughts? edit: also implies Navani is kicking chull with new fabrial development.

  7. Could this be the secret to corrupting true spren. I think it was said in the past san-jnat could only corrupt lesser spren, but now we have glys. I'm not suggesting in the past dead blades did not exist I'm sure some knights broke their oaths but no where near the numbers the recreance had. Now the idea is san-jnat isn't reviving the blade. But adding something to replace what was lost in their minds and birthing something new if based on the old personality. An unmade spren if you will. That's why it grants 1 radiant surge and 1 void surge.

  8. I like it. That Glys was a dead eye, that Sja-anat added something to bring it back to "life". Since the investiture was "different", Glys is "corrupted". (I am using a lot of quotes because a spren is not truly dead, to be brought truly back to life, and all investiture is ultimately investiture, but one investiture has a different shard, or manifestation than another, and corruption to Brandon in some cases it just when one shard co-opts another shards magic/investiture). That could explain why Glys would be ok with being corrupted, and why Sja-anat says regarding the oathgate she has never "enlightened" something of that scale before. Glys was "dead" and "missing something" so it would potentially not be at the same scale as the oathgate spren. Also would explain why the Ghostbloods want her. So she can revive blades for them, and give them unique spren/powers to bond. We don't know after all what oaths Renarin's form of truthwatcher takes. Could be completely different, looser, or no oaths at all. Also would be a great moment for Renarin and Adolin. Realizing Glys was dead, and how he came back. Giving Maya this option, and then I think either way it goes it could be really compelling, her either saying yes, or saying no.

  11. Day 6: Axehound, Found and Lost “Nobody has seen it?” The exasperated head-shaking of the group of soldiers told Jesh it was another lost cause. Jesh himself was confused. How hard could an axehound be to miss? The creatures were nearly as tall as he was, and he had been told several times that he was tall for his age. Most importantly, Trisk was friendly and sociable, and would come up to anyone who she thought had food. And she thought everybody existed to give her the remnants of what they ate. So the soldiers across from him really should have at least spotted Trisk by now; the city was only so big. He’d given them the axehound’s markings and everything! He felt a tear well up in his eye, and pushed it down with some effort. Would he be doomed to be stuck in the city forever looking for her? “Thanks for your time again,” he managed to get out before he broke into tears in front of the whole group, and ran from the area where he’d been talking with Vamah’s party. Odd that nobody had seen the man in hours, but Jesh didn’t care at this point. He had to find Trisk! Moreover, he was tired of Kareana’s restrictions on Radiant movement; if a group of untrained soldiers could wander around the tower scouting, why couldn’t he, a Knight Radiant, look for his lost pet? Turning the logic over in its head and recognising its infallibility, Jesh knew it would be hopeless convincing Kareana, who called her decisions “logical” when they contradicted directly with Jesh’s ideas and tried to use a supposedly more advanced adult method of logic. No, she would deny his request and have him watched if he spoke up. Instead, he would need to slip quietly out. Chancing a glance through the Breakaway, Kareana was fully engrossed in a conversation with the leading Radiants and scribes. That would take her a while, and Jesh was good at silent movement. He ducked into the shadows of the room, those who did see his passage not thinking it noteworthy, and was out the door and sprinting into the halls of Urithiru within minutes as the sun set on the floating city. Trisk would be found. Jesh collapsed on the hard stone floor, weeping and exhausted. Three hours of searching had yielded no sight of Trisk, and he had checked almost every level of the entire tower, especially the ones with current and old food storages. Still nothing! That creature was evasive. Or…no. He would not begin considering the possibility that Trisk was…no. He shoved the thought down as best he could, but it remained floating on the surface, sending him into a fresh round of tears. As he sobbed, he heard the sound of footsteps growing closer, which were too near to run away from before escaping detection. An hour or two ago, he’d have been mortified at the thought of Kareana catching him. Now he just wanted to get back into the Breakaway and sleep, no matter how much he was chewed out for it. Trisk was resourceful and could survive, and she’d wait for tomorrow to return to him. He just wasn’t looking forward to finding out who had come to rescue him. The door opened, and light from the hallway flooded into the dark chamber where Jesh sat curled up. One of the wall torches outside the room must have been lit, and a silhouetted figure stood framed in the doorway. Jesh subconsciously scooted back. This wasn’t Kareana, or anyone he recognised from the expedition’s leadership, and it was still impossible to see. The man halted in the doorway, looking down at the child. “Are you Jesh?” he asked softly. Jesh suddenly felt a spike of anger inside of him resolve itself. Who was this person to go around demanding answers from him, a small child trapped and lost, when he was clearly in no state to be doing anything much more than sleeping? “Why does it matter to you, sir?” he retorted, with more heat than expected. The level voice was unperturbed by the outburst. “Since you appear to be, I have to wonder why you ran off earlier today. I watched you go, and you’ve not been in the Breakaway for three hours. Kareana is worried, but I’m suspicious. What have you been doing out in the city by yourself? And why haven’t you run into trouble yet being alone? Several others have.” “I’ve been looking for my axehound!” Jesh replied heatedly. “Not everyone is heartless and suspicious like you seem to need to be. I actually care about Trisk, and…” Jesh trailed off, seeing another silhouette whisk by in the doorway. A silhouette nearly as tall as him, with a carapace and legs. “Trish!” Tiredness and the interfering man forgotten, Jesh took off at a full sprint for the door, heedless of the person in his way, causing the silhouetted figure to raise his hands, almost unconsciously, and release a storm of fire and dust. When it cleared, the crackling of the charred corpse of Jesh and the whimpering of an axehound were the only sounds heard on the thirtieth level of Urithiru as the moon rose above, while highstorm clouds came rolling in below. And between them, another Knight Radiant lay slain. Sernes stalked the halls of Urithiru, trying to decide whether to go back to camp tonight. On the one hand, safety in numbers... but that hadn’t meant much for Tnaidar, had it? Or any of the others, really. But there’d been just as many deaths out here... He started at a sudden noise. Was that... footsteps? Getting closer, too. He looked around frantically, but there wasn’t much cover. He ducked around a corner and stood back pressed to the wall, hoping whoever it was would just walk past. “Sernes?” a voice called, and Sernes relaxed. “Sernes, are you there?” He stepped back around the corner, smiling in relief. “Here.” “Oh, good, I was worried I’d find you already dead or something,” the other said. “You know I’m too stubborn to die,” Sernes laughed. “Wait, already?” That was about the point when a knife took him in the throat. “Already,” the other confirmed. “Quite a waste to go looking for you so long to kill you if you’re already dead, isn’t it?” Sernes didn’t answer, but then, he did have a slit throat. Kind of made it difficult to speak. “Ah well,” Odium’s servant said. “Your voice was always annoying, anyway.” They wiped their knife on Sernes’s body and walked off, humming. Sam contemplated the meaning of life. When he’d been a Darkeyes he’d not really thought much about it. He just went about his life, because that’s all he knew. But when he became a Radiant... his entire life had changed, and he didn’t know what to make of it. The question had become more urgent when people started dying, though. What was the point in their deaths? What was the point in his life? He at least wanted to figure it out before he died himself, and that was looking increasingly likely by the day. He’d considered that there was no meaning at all, but he hated that. Then he thought it might be love - before his girlfriend broke up with him, at least. Friendship was a contender, but Sam didn’t have many friends so he wasn’t doing very well if it were friendship. “Happiness?” he murmured to himself. Maybe, he thought. He would like to think it was happiness. He sighed, standing up and pacing back and forth. “The meaning of life is happiness,” he said, trying to sound it out. “The meaning of life is friendship? No, no, that doesn’t ring right. The meaning of life is...” “Survival.” The voice was cold like steel as it blasted flames into Sam’s back. The Dustbringer shook his head and walked away. The LDS church separated from BSA as of the beginning of this year, and I had been using that to participate in it, so I kind of had a deadline to finish it unless I wanted to pay. For a little while I thought I might not have made it, but then I did! Honestly right now I'm just glad I'm finally done.

  15. For a character that I really didnt particularly like OR respect, Elokhar's death hit me in the feels a lot harder than I expected. The Renarin/Jasnah confrontation is probably the closest that is in the same vein. By contrast Tien's death didnt hit me near as hard simply because it was in a flashback and not near the surprise. Eve's Story was rough even though the broad strokes where heavily foreshadowed, but the moment that really hit me was when Dalinar asked for Forgiveness of the Nightwatcher rather than any of the typical Boons she was offering. Teft's 3rd Ideal.... All the feels In a quieter and more long-suffering way, Rlain's POV chapter

  17. Okay so I saw a few of the Explain a Film Plot badly things earlier and thought they were funny, so I decided to do them for the cosmere books. I think some of them are funny, so I decided to share them. Hopefully it'll at least get a few laughs. If anyone has any more or any different ones, please post them. Spoilers for the cosmere, obviously. I'll label each one just in case though. The Final Empire: Well of Ascension: Hero of Ages: Alloy of Law: Shadows of Self: Bands of Morning: Warbreaker: Elantris: I couldn't think of any for Stormlight, hopefully someone else can [EDIT by Moderator: This topic originally was solely cosmere but has moved beyond that, so I moved this to Entertainment Discussion.]

  18. This isn't the WoB I was looking for but its ok. JoyBlu Both Tien and Kaladin are Radiant, you talked about how that wasn't hereditary, and how that was more because of where they were with association. Was it because they were associated with the same person, or the same place? Brandon Sanderson Yes, Connection influences spren. JoyBlu Right, but was the Connection to a person that they were around? Brandon Sanderson Connection to people. JoyBlue So not necessarily the place where they were? Brandon Sanderson Right. Joyblu Because my way of thinking it might be with the people is because, like with the Purelake on the Cognitive Realm there would be more spren hanging out there because that was more land, right; so if you spent more time on that you would have more spren around you. So if you're closer to more water, you're closer to more spren. Brandon Sanderson That is not an irrelevant observation. Skyward release party (Nov. 6, 2018) Basically if a spren checks someone out other spren want to come see what's going on and end up bounding to someone close to the original radient.

  19. We're glad to have you join! You can read up on how it goes in the General Rules thread. A QF (quick fix) is a good place to start as the rules are generally simple, though they do move quickly. The current long game is winding down, but I'm sure @Elbereth or @Fifth Scholar could provide you with the spectator doc link if you wish. We do a lot of chatting there about the game and other things. It's a good place to ask questions as you observe the flow of a game.

Satisfying completion of the 'access' cutout on the other side (6,7). Then, in a mirror of the assembly underneath, the circular inset housing the heavy laser turret on the top of the Falcon (8-10). Slots in nicely (11) to (almost) complete the top surface (12).

  21. “They will try,” Jasnah said, “to define you by something you are not. Don’t let them. I can be a scholar, a woman, a historian, a Radiant. People will still try to classify me by the thing that makes me an outsider. They want, ironically, the thing I don’t do or believe to be the prime marker of my identity. I have always rejected that, and will continue to do so.” She reached over and put her freehand on his arm. “You are not a heretic, Dalinar Kholin. You are a king, a Radiant, and a father. You are a man with complicated beliefs, who does not accept everything you are told. You decide how you are defined. Don’t surrender that to them. They will gleefully take the chance to define you, if you allow it.”

  22. All this means for me is I cannot wait till more cross overs happen and more mechanics are revealed. Radiants are "anime" enough (giant swords, power armor, magical abilities), now imagine a radiant that can soulcast bullets from the air, and then fire them with a push.

  23. Ok talking with my bro and he brought up this potential. Nightblood was created during WoK with Szeth and his story at the start and (not to) finish. (As all authors set up a character arc). Then Brandon went and wrote Warbreaker to tell the story of Nightblood, Vasher and possibly Vivenna. Then we get WoR with the Szeth and Nightblood introduction at the end. What if Szeth finds a way to breach the boundary between Awakening and Surgebinding, and bonds/merge his spren with Nightblood like Tanavist and the Storm Father??? So a few things could happen here.... No commands??? A new command/s???? Sentience to what level???? Power??? Changed??? How??? Now its time to speculate, theorize, fantasize!!! Lol.

  24. Do the Windrunners have problems with other modes of transportation, like chulls? Maybe they hate not just horses but all animals and creatures used for travel solely because the Windrunners know that they themselves are capable of the fastest travel known to man (not counting oathgates because... well they're oathgates). I would like to see an instance of a windrunner or multiple Windrunners having qualms about traveling by chull.

  28. Overall Well like @Mandamon I was prepared to be grumbly about another chapter of not moving, but there was enough interpersonal movement that I really enjoyed it. My biggest hangups came from the E/Q interactions, which ran very straight flirty, especially from E. There are pretty distinct ways lesbians interact with straight men, different ways they may interact with bi and pan men, and different ways they interact based upon what 'kind' of lesbian they are. You've coded E as a power femme more or less, and so to see her acting more high femme really threw me off. I can get into more detail if you want. As I go - pg 3: more sitting and talking. Dislike - pg 6: I enjoyed the touching Q/M moment a lot! - pg 6: I still don't understand why Q and Kres are all buddy buddy now - pg 6: Is that male gaze in your eye, or are you just pleased to see me?” <--- Dead. I am dead. Please do not ever delete this line - pg 7: Q brushing away E's tear is a little squicky to me. It's very male flirty, and it sounds like E is canon lesbian. If Q wants to get away with that he needs to make it more of a clear overstepping, like a joke. Something like, "M'lady, do let me get your wanton tear" etc - the follow up line is perfect though - pg 8: But now the law accept he’s up <--- missing an 's' - pg 8: I told you I don’t bat for the B-team <-- while this is funny, he's made one too many passes at her for my liking. I'd like to see her come down harder on him, but still friendly. She's already tried to gently point out he's bi/pan, and he's pushed that away and doubled down on the flirting to hide it (classic!). So when he does this flirt, I'd love to see her say something like, "Even you have to see your overcompensation by now" - pg 9: ugh too much knee touching if she's not flirting. It makes me uncomfortable. Lesbians don't socialize like straight women, unless she's high femme, which she has not been described as. I classes her as more power femme, and no power femme would be repeatedly touching a guy's knee - pg 11: careful with 'spook'. I know its a CIA slang term but it's also a really bad racial slur in the US, too - pg 12: Matt black,<--I think in this context it gets an 'e' on the end - interesting ending

  29. A pleasant chapter to read with some great lines. Still waiting for some forward motion but I enjoyed it. Just a few things: It's got all the sugars: love this line Hamstrings protested loudly: This makes me think they made an audible sound. I would believe his knees crackling audibly but if your hamstrings are audible outside of your body something terrible and possibly irreperable has happened to you. General note: Q is using TOM and The OM interchangeably around E. I don't remember anyone explaining this term to her so it feels like she could end up thinking there's this guy named Tom and also The OM. E's drink: Not a pivital detail but: first she has her own bottle which she uses to point at Q. 2nd she has a highball glass which is for any carbonated mixer with spirits or sometimes another mixed drink. 3rd She has to wait to order another from the bar tender. 4th she licks scotch from her lips and there is ice in her glass. 5th she sips whiskey. So either she has her own bottle of scotch but ordered a soda water and ice to mix it with and then orders a whiskey, or she started with beer and then ordered scotch and then a whiskey both of which would normally come in a tumbler not a highball glass. Much more important things going on but this was a hang up for me. So far above my paygrade... : loved this line too Near 80% mark: "This little chat" The paragraph change had me expecting E to be speaking until I realized from context it was still Q. An identifier would be nice. Looking forward to the next chapter, Thanks for sharing!

  31. Sooo...I guess I'm first again. I was ready to call out more standing around when the chapter opened with eating and drinking in a bar, but I ended up enjoying this chapter more than the last 3 or 4. There were some good character building moments, and we finally get some inkling of what the real strategy might be behind everything. It all gets pretty tense toward the end, and my only complaint is that it's taken 24 chapters to get here. The two K's are playing a more important part, but I'd like their personalities and the political side to be built up a lot more to get to this point. Prescriptive, but I think switching out some of the traveling for learning about K&K and what how TOM ties in with politics would shore this chapter up a lot. pg 3: wasn't really expecting a break from the running and shooting for a conversation on philosophical implications of decentralized communities... pg 5: "My animals always watch the door.” --good line pg 7: “In a different narrative,” --also a good line pg 8: "And I'm half-serious about that job, by the way" --I would read a Q & M & E adventure... pg 8: "But I do kinda wish we’d met when I was still bi-sceptical.” --nice pg 9: The realization about whatever the political party is doing falls flat. E seems to know, but I don't understand enough about the political situation to get it. TOM is interfering in an election, sure. But what are the consequences? pg 9: "for galactic stakes" --vague. What exactly might happen? Make me fear it. pg 10: Wait--why did they wake everyone up to talk again? Couldn't they have just done it in the morning? pg 11: "interstellar terra-forming company” --Oh yeah...forgot about this. Might be good to reiterate somewhere in the intervening chapters. Pg 13: the ending definitely got more tense. I guess the president is in on this somehow and suspending the election is part of it? I think the villainization of Koo needs some more buildup. I couldn't tell the two K's apart before, and now Q is questioning whether he's working with DM. There needs to be something in the middle.

  32. Day 3: Chances Ellira ran as fast as her feet could take her. She didn’t know what that thing was, and at present she didn’t care. Her focus was on not dying to it. Eventually, her steps slowed as it became clear that nothing was following. She wasn’t sure where Errdal had gone - he must have diverged at some point during their run. So. There was something inside Urithiru that was essentially darkness incarnate, and killing or helping to kill Radiants at the direction of something called Odium. The question was, she supposed, its criteria for doing so. She pulled out the spanreed and parchment she kept on her at all times, and began to make her report. It wasn’t at the normal time, but the situation wasn’t precisely normal either. Soon enough, the spanreed began blinking, and wrote a few simple words on the paper. She frowned in thought for a few seconds, stroking the hilt of her dagger, then smiled. Understood, she wrote back. The next few days would be... interesting, at the very least. Dfyan was a scholar, a scientist. He knew how to account for evidence, and the evidence right now was... not good. So many deaths in only a couple of days, with Odium to blame? He had to get out. Now. During the usual evening bustle, he packed up his bedroll, claiming to anyone who asked that he was just moving it because he didn’t like his spot. Then, while everyone was getting dinner and discussing the news of the day - apparently someone had disappeared, though it wasn’t clear how or why - he slipped out into Urithiru. He couldn’t afford to take the lifts, as they’d attract too much attention, but at least he was away from the murders now. What didn’t occur to him is that he was also far away from safety in numbers. At least, not until the Shardblade sliced through his chest - and even then, the realization was a bit too slow to fully form before he died. Bomer shuffled his deck of cards, the fingers of one hand deftly moving to randomise the order effectively, while in the other he flipped a coin, recording its result each time it landed and going at it again. Rare commodities, indeed, especially on Roshar. He had never understood how they had decided on those foolish spheres as currency. There was no way to bring random chance into an object which was identical on every side. At least the boxings he’d brought from Scadrial hadn’t all been lost, yet. Now that was a far more civilised country. Plenty of taverns to gamble in, and people to gamble with. But up here in the cold of Urithiru, there was nobody except Taladir, and he was dead. A shame too, as he had never lost to the man. He had been accused of counting cards, using too much statistical knowledge, and even of hiding cards up his sleeve. Absurd allegations, with only the first two being true. He was an honest gambler, but the best risk to take was a calculated one. So in his spare time, naturally, he did calculations. Some people thought coinflips were a fair game, with the coin having equal odds of landing on either side. Bomer knew it was a lie; besides weighted coins, which could be easily discovered, even fair coins had slight biases, if you wanted to figure them out. Of course, that would take thousands and thousands of flips. Impractical on Scadrial, where clips were scattered like candy by Mistborn and Coinshots, and people always had several on them. In Roshar, when he had complete control of the supply, which was limited to about a dozen? Not impractical at all. So he kept flipping throughout the Night. 2500 trials on this coin so far, 1237 heads and 1263 tails. Approximately fair, probably, with perhaps a bias towards tails; the coin would need about 20000 flips before Bomer could be completely sure. He’d gotten 9 of his coins done in this way so far; at his current rate, he could probably finish with this one by the time they were all dead or all the agents of Odium had been neutralised. A cheering thought, so he refocused on his cards. Cards were a different matter—it all came down to who shuffled, and how good you were at tracking specific cards through the shuffled deck. Bomer had gotten these skills unconsciously after thirty years of handling cards, and knew that any fair card game involving him would require another person shuffling with his eyes disfocused, at the very least. Even with a one-handed shuffle like he used, and with his mind wandering, it was still too easy for him to track; the Highprince of Swords was on top. Bomer sighed. He replaced the cards in his bag—still nobody wanted to gamble—and resolved to make double time with his coin tests. He flipped his coin of choice furiously, recording its result every time. He was on track for 6,000 more flips by the end of the Night, a respectable number. On his 3,646th flip, the coin took a sudden tumble, skirting along its edge away from him as if running, and kept rolling, into the spiral staircase, where Bomer could heat it clashing and rattling. He winced—had he woken everyone up?—but most of the Radiants, including Kareana, were sleeping and remained still. That said, he was prohibited from venturing outside the chamber. It was just a quick trip down a few stairs to find a lost coin, though, and the Brightness was still sleeping. Nobody cared if he went down half a flight of stairs and went back up quickly. He set out, tiptoeing around the sleeping Radiants. Quickly dropping to a hunched position after leaving the sleeping area, he ran his hands along the ground, looking for the coin, to no avail. It was in the stairwell, then. He ventured downward step by step. Still no coin. Then, he spotted it—on the landing in between where the stairs turned around. With a wordless cry of triumph, he pivoted, bending down and retrieving the coin. He unbent, standing up to return to the common area. And saw a man facing him, hooded, with his hands in the air. A flash of fire, a burning smell in his nostrils, a brief agony, and Bomer collapsed, falling forward as he died, and the corpse, tumbling down the steps, would not be discovered until the next morning. 33. Just some RP, feel free to ignore it. I'm certain it doesn't contain any important insights on role distribution *** The person playing Merinira was taking a short break. These LARP events where very fun, of course, and the GM's had designed a very interesting scenario around the fight against Odium on Roshar several centuries ago, but these events where also mentally taxing. The past day had definitely been fun though. Sometimes such events had a lot of historical purists demanding that everyone play their role exactly like things where at the time, but this even was more relaxed. She knew for certain about a couple of players having chosen a worldhopper background for more versatility, and the amount of knowing smirks she'd seen and comments hinting at advanced knowledge she'd heard suggested that there might not be any Roshar natives among the PC's at all. She stretched, quickly looked over her costume, and then prepared to leave the room. She was thinking about finding some others to do another discovery run through 'Urithiru'. The GM's had come up with some really nice off-the-wall stuff last time she went, and she was curious to find out what they'd do this time around.

  34. I just got done reading White Sands Vol 3, and I audibly yelled "WHAT!?" at the epilogue. I believe that Hoid is there specifically because of Baon's display of Sand Mastery. As far as we know, it's the first time a Darksider has displayed any ability for Sand Mastery (mainly because they were never tested, and discounting Kenton who is half Darksider). It is possible that Hoid's important event sense told him to be there at that specific time.

  36. I'm assuming you're still talking about reverse-conjoining. The force applied by the sun to objects on a planet is much, much less than the gravitational force applied by the planet itself. Yes, the sun is much larger than the planet, but it's much, much farther away.

  37. Sel would create a very beautiful and by far the fastest ship - which would run out of investiture shortly after the starting line. Curse that geography limited magic! Nalthis would look promising initially, but due to having a dodgy awakening of the sail command - "Fly me" - end up contorting its pilot into the shape of an insect and subsequently buzz around annoying the spectators. Roshar would be fast and powerful, but inefficient, being designed for a highly invested world. They look like they're going to win, but, Scadrial, though slow and plodding for the most part due to the limited access to investiture wins, because Kelsier refuses to let anyone else win. Not death nor gods nor fate will prevent him winning. Kelsier throws one of those control box grenade things for the Scadrial ships at the Rosharan ship, sucking the investiture from it and disabling it, and Scadrial many hours later plods over the finishing line first. Sixth of Dusk observes the whole episode and wonders why these people think they are Aviar.

  38. I think the real question is how much the artifabrians can figure out now that they have Radiants whose Surges they can analyze.

  39. That's a very good point the gap between 5 and 6 is supposed to be what 15 years think of our world and the technology from 15 years ago I graduated high school 14 years ago and had a Nokia block phone now I have a Samsung Galaxy 8 and look everything I can do with it compared to the block phone that could only really call and text people.

  40. All fabrials are relatively new. Spanreeds are a couple decades old. We're watching an insanely rapid technological explosion. Navani is an artifabrian. I'm not saying that it's not possible, but it's far less interesting. We also have no evidence that a lashing can be anchored in that way. Lashing infuse the stormlight directly into the object to be effected. All together, I think Navani would be far more likely to expand the tech she knows intimately to take advantage of the things the Radiants are doing, then to rely on them as a crutch in place of technological advances.
