  1. I wonder if this is a title granted to Windrunners, due to their relationship with honorspren? Or, maybe to the head of the Windrunners?

  2. If you do a forum search on lanceryn (it is hard to find. if you give me a bit I may be able to pull it up for you), but there is a post quoting Peter (Brandon's editor) stating that the larkin is the early form of a lanceryn, which is referred to as a greatshell that was formerly thought extinct. So although not outright confirmed, I think it hints (I hope) that Chiri-Chiri will get dragon size. edit: here is where I posted elsewhere, and then the link to the source: AhoyMatey (paraphrased) Are larkin and lanceryn one and the same? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) There’s a little bit more than just [being] one and the same, but in some ways they are. Words of Radiance Seattle signing (March 8, 2014) Larkin and lanceryn 1. In WoK, Jasnah's mention of this lanceryn befuddled me a lot. We know that it is a kind of greatshell with gemhearts native to Aimia, but except this, we know nothing. The translator interpreted it as "lance-beast". I suspect he got it inspired because "lanceryn" is similar to "lance", which is a kind of weapon. I'd like to know whether this name origins from "lance" or not. If not, could you simply describe how this creature actually looks like, so I can come up with a new term? (I'm not sure if the former translator has ever contacted you.) 2. So larkins are more like flying insects? I imagine they are a mixture of crab (or any crustacean), wasp and little dragon. Is that okay? (Do larkins really have reddish/brown crusts?) Peter The lanceryn and larkin are two names for the same creature. When it says lanceryn, it’s definitely referring only to the enormous greatshell version that is believed to be extinct. The name is not related to “lance”…I think. The small larkin can be considered the cremling/larva version of the lanceryn.

  4. When you had a really weird dream last night in which you were in B&N and browsing their notebooks and bookmarks, but there was a ton of Sanderson stuff. Some stickers and shirts that i was looking at on Redbubble the other day, the new socks, and weird books with Skyward themed covers. Most notably was the one called proper etiquette in a marriage, or something like that. It really makes me wonder what's going on in my subconscious...

  7. I was looking through the arcanum when I saw this Winds Alight (paraphrased) In SA the Stormfather refers to several people as "Child of Honor", but only Kaladin as "Child of Tanavast". Is there significance to that? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) Yes, there is. Stuttgart signing (May 17, 2019) So I see a few options here Kaladin is Literally Tanavast's child Kaladin is meant to take up Honor's shard.(Yes I know Everyone is screaming it's Dalinar deal with it) What do you think.

  9. And other than Dalinar, how many of those characters names do people remember? And how many characters are we going to have play the negotiator/peace broker? I didn't say suicide. I said sidelined. And being that every one of those characters save Dalinar is a minor character, I think you're making my point for me.

I'm gonna say Jezrien was the lead singer, as his association with the Stormfather going back to legendary times was likely based on their #1 hit, a cover version of the Scorpions' song Rock You Like A Hurricane (localized for Roshar to Rock You Like A Highstorm). Taln = Drummer Ash = Lead guitar And on bass... None other than Nalan, who "used to be able to feel" not just compassion, but The Groove Line.

  13. Which is a cop out. It's literally the same job. How many times have we been told that each Highprince is essentially a king in their own right? If he can effectively be one, he can effectively be the other. And I think you're missing my point completely. Without powers, he will be a liability in combat with the other radiants. He will either continue anyway, and eventually die in the process... Or he'll step back from combat in which case he will be effectively sidelined from his current story role. Adolin is able to stand with the other characters, even in the face of horrible odds. The entire reason people like him as the "normal" perspective is because we see the action from the perspective of people without powers... Which is a role that's going to be less and less viable. If he becomes like other characters you mentioned, Gawx, or Fen, or Sebarial, or any of the many generals, or Highprinces, or nobles or random other characters... He becomes a minor character who has multiple other people at the same level, in the same role, that are all doing the exact same things he is, and his story role essentially becomes "Shallan's husband, Dalinar's son, and Renarin's brother." That's being sidelined. There would be absolutely nothing he is doing outside of his relationships to the other characters that isn't being fulfilled by a multitude of similarly minor characters. Because it was a general statement and not directed at you.

  14. Odium . Ok hear me out. When odium first meets Dalinar in the vision , he likes pulls his tail saying , are you releasing me ? Then he's like don't worry. Intent is necessary. So I think what this means is that he needs some radiants to defeat. Maybe one from each order or so. So maybe he was influencing the ppl to spare kaladin . He does have some pull on emotion . So I could see him manipulating emotions to allow kaladin to live but murder everyone else cause well that's an odious act and his name is Odium. Or maybe like he wants to break kaladins honor and strength. Just killing isn't enough. He needs kaladins intent to be destroyed and the only way to do that is to make him fail repeatedly. I don't know how this would work with other charecters. You think about that

  15. I believe the Dawnshards are epic-scale fabrials, designed for the purpose of terraforming. Roshar is covered with what looks to me like the scars of human experimentation. I think structures like the Windblades and Urithiru were probably Soulcast, or otherwise constructed with gigantic surges. The Purelake is also suspicious to me. And clearly Shinovar itself was Soulcast into being a piece of an entirely different world. Now there's a cache in Aimia of these ultimate devices, and anyone who used one as a weapon would be able to cause absolutely ridiculous levels of destruction.

Edit: MR35 Joe was an elim and less active than this game iirc. Regardless, I dont think he is an elim. Organized player analysis to come hopefully within 12 bours. Off the top of my head, I think the remaining elims are 2 of Striker, Elkanah, and Devotary. Still need to do the analysis though.

  17. A majority of the area of a terrestial planet is water. Hence most of the CR is land. The amount of freight an aircraft at that level of technology will carry is minimal. Unless you want to import airships, you will most likely lose money. Add to that the issue of reliability. Early aircraft weren't all that reliable. And if you go down in the CR you will almost certainly perish, unless you are found very soon. There is no water and they have no radios, which may or may not work in the CR anyway. Finally, how do you navigate? There are no stars and the sun is always at the same place in the sky.

  24. Glad that Brandon seems to be wise in planning his work & expectations. I love the signings, but the writing is his real work & what future generations will enjoy. We can pay it forward by supporting his focus on writing. Very excited about: SA4 date looks solid, enabling release party plans to commence! Brandon collaborating with JMS!!! A match made in heaven! Cannot tell you how happy this makes me Excited about: W&W 4 and Alcatraz 6 dates look hopeful So much to look forward to in the next several years! A bit sad about: Realizing that I'm of an age now such that I probably won't live to see Mistborn 4 #3 -- maybe not even SA10. That's OK, though, since Brandon gives so much closure even in mid-stream books. I don't mean this to be morbid; just sharing feelings. I'd be jealous of those who'll be around to read the end, if I weren't so happy for you! Now, I'm sure I've got some leftover koloss heads in the fridge to munch on... (Yes I know that's not how it goes ... but it's funny, LOL!)

  28. Brandon's said that the swords don't even need to be of equal power for Bad Things to happen: So imagining Nightblood versus an equally powerful Awakened weapon with a similar command, I'd probably want to be observing that from a good distance. Or from the Cognitive Realm. Or possibly both at once, just to be safe.

  32. Here's my line of logic: 1. Warbreaker, and thus Vasher and Nightblood, is a prologue to the SA. 2. If Warbreaker is a prologue, Awakening is going to have to be described at some point during the 10 book SA. 3. The back 5 books are the perfect point to introduce a new magic system that can compliment the existing systems. (Especially if book 5 ends with the destruction of Roshar and escape to Nalthis.) 4. Lift is also important. In a world of no highstorms, she will be possibly the only Radiant who can reliably use their Surgebinding. (I imagine some Radiants will have issue using Breaths to fuel Suregbinding.) Put all that together and what do you get? Vasher Awakens a cupcake with his Divine Breath, Lift eats said cupcake, and thus becomes a Returned Edgedancer Awakener wielder of Nightblood. If Odium is not dead by that point, the rest of the SA is about him fleeing in terror.

He was reading Mistborn at the time) You know your a Sanderfan when you write “Put friend A on decaf” and “(Me) gets a cookie” at the bottom of your Math Teacher’s lesson plan and friend B shouts “I want a cookie too” (Math Teacher did not have cookies that day. 37. TOTALLY not acting upon that... totally. (You actually should, though. Then post about it and let us know how it went.) You know your a Sanderfan when... You continue to tell people to read Mistborn even after they've read it. You and your friends have screaming matches about Cosmere theories and topics while other people just watch, confused. You stare at sand, hoping that it will rise out of your hand before falling to the ground, colored black. You see the words "an example of radiant energy is sunlight" so you cross out "sun" and replace it with "storm." You try to give advice to your friends, and think WWSS? (What Would Sylphrena Say?) You try to do 0 divided by 0 on a calculator, and your Sanderfan friend next to you screams "That's inappropriate!" You feel more popular on the 17th Shard than in real life. You watch as Friend A argues with Friend B over Friend A's hair color. All you can think about is: "Friend A must be a princess from Nalthis..." All you ever want in life is a roast battle between Wit and Shallan, Lopen and Wayne to meet, and for Kaladin to be happy. You realize that Harry Potter is just shooting stormlight from his wand. The wands are sticks, which refused to be turned into fire. Shallan gave them stormlight because "Sticks need stormlight. For... things..." So, the sticks can now shoot the stormlight Shallan gave them. Because logic.
