  1. Hi all, some minor changes happened this week for the site. There is now a Forum Games forum Way back in... uh, 2016, a dedicated forum games section has been suggested. I guess I just consistently forgot since I liked the idea, so we made one! Forum games whether they are generic games or Brandon related will go here now. This has an advantage in that they are now easier to find, and also will be out of the way for people interested in book discussion. Things will go in the Forum Games section if they are games, or if the thread is pretty random, like the Random Stuff thread. The goal is to make General Discussion more discussion based. Some forum games can be spammy (for one example, Three Word Story) and lead to an enormous amount of very short posts. For this reason, the Forum Games board does not increase post count. Eventually, the forum's post statistics will be recounted (it happens automatically when the site updates), and it may be the case if you posted, say, 1000 posts in topics that are now in Forum Games this may be retroactive and your post count may be significantly lower. I don't actually know if this is the case though. This hasn't come up yet in my experience. Are there any other forums you'd like created? Anything miscategorized? Let us know! Hiding posts returns A while back, I disabled hiding posts because there were a few instances of members hiding all their posts for some bad reasons. But since there's been a lot of double posting going on, this just seems unnecessary. So if you'd like to remove your posts, use the Hide button. No need to report them now! Just as a note because I've seen a lot of accidental double posting: if the Post button says "Saving" just wait it out! I have noticed sometimes it can take a while to go through for some reason, and I'm not quite sure why it does so. But if you click it again it will post again, which can result in something like 3-4 topics of the same kind. Remember the general computer rule that if something is loading, don't click more! (That makes things worse and will cause your computer queue that action more for every click!) That said the lag in posting is extremely annoying. If you have any information on this do post here or in Tech Support. Signature restrictions Our signature guidelines have been in effect since 2015. I've enabled some technological restrictions to prevent signatures from being too long. Now signatures can be a max of three lines. The exact value of lines can be discussed but I think 3-4 lines is a good amount. Long signatures really add to scrolling on desktop and are generally not aesthetically pleasing, especially if one adds a one-line post and the signature takes up much more room than the post itself. Animated profile pictures are disabled Speaking of aesthetically displeasing things, animated profile pictures generally make the site look much less modern and are pretty ripe for abuse. With profile pictures appearing on the main page, you really don't want a bunch of flashing lights from animated profile pictures on the main page. Additionally, animated gifs make sites load slower if there are a lot of them. I have generally discouraged animated profile pictures though it has not been a rule. I believe in old versions of Invision Power Suite, our software, there was an ability to disable this. I could never find the setting in the newer version, but tonight I found it, so animation in profile pictures are now disabled. This should generally lead to slight performance increases.

  2. Day 3 - Disaster Strikes The night started off peaceful enough. Maybe too peaceful, as if it was the calm before the storm. Draff felt the tension in the air intensify as everyone left the lobby to go to sleep. Quick glances between officers, whispered words into ears. It all seemed too much for him. He ended up laying in his bed, staring at the ceiling when the first scream came. He got up as quickly as he could, sprinting down the hall towards where he heard the scream coming from. Draff rounded the corner of a hallway to see someone disappearing around the other side of the hallway, with Thomas limping towards Draff. Thank Harmony, Draff thought, he managed to- There was a loud crash from somewhere else in the station. Quickly, he ran to the sound, but he knew he would be too late, it was just too far away. He found Nedar Latfin dead in his bed. This time, he didn’t even get a chance to think before he heard another scream. Draff couldn’t take it anymore, so he just slumped to the ground and put his head between his knees and began to weep. Sometime later, another officer came and found him and told him the news. Someone had heard a struggle coming from Xino’s room, and went to go check on him. He was dead in his bed. But they’d found hidden notes throughout the room about some of the bombings throughout the city. He was a Rebel. Draff felt disgusted at how happy he felt. No one’s death should be celebrated...but Xino had caused the death of so many innocent civilians, so maybe it was for the best. ~ MrakeDarshall was attacked, but survived! Young Bard was removed by the inactivity filter! They were a Police Officer! xinoehp512 was killed! They were a Rebel Officer! Player List: PMs are open, but remember that each player may only make one new PM each turn. Remember to include me and Mailliw in all PMs, and group PMs ARE allowed. There is a two-vote minimum for a lynch and a tied lynch results in one of the tied lynchees’ death. This turn will last 45 hours and will end at 7:30 PM on June 17th.

  3. The hand passed straight through without resistance. The Haunt sensed something and sharply he turned on the woman, the fog masking his facial expressions, making his head appear as a featureless globe. But as the Haunt floated upwards, his attention focused on the woman and the child. Quickly he sped up and dashed towards the child. When he was a hair’s breadth away he stopped and let the fog create his face, into a deep sneer, a scary face. “Boo!” —- —- Wes was submerged in a whiteness, his vision dissipating from the explosion, and his side burning. He felt someone near to him, and begun feeling a familiar sensation of healing wash over him. “Seom!” He croaked. Thank the Heralds she was here. Wes doubted anyone else would care enough about him to heal him. A waste of resources. What use was Bendalloy Feruchemy anyway? The blood and exposed flesh on Wes’ face begun retreating, and the pain seeped away like water evaporating. His sight recovered, but Wes knew, he would never make the mistake again. Whenever he tried to help, it just resulted in problems. Against Syndicate, he’d almost gotten himself killed, messed up the mission. It was the same here. In a few minutes, Wes was fully healed, except for a small burn scar creeping up the side of his neck which wasn’t being healed. He looked up and nodded to Seom. “Thanks,” he said. “I would’ve died.” —- —- —- —- The intern was new here. He’s gotten his Ghostblood tattoo only a week ago, flat across his chest. Bold, but he wanted to show he was loyal. Tonight, he wore simple work shoes coupled with leather black attire suitable for a Ghostblood. Indicative of his rank, he wore a long dark cloak that stretched to his legs. The only item on him that wasn’t textbook underling was the tan scarf around his neck. His fellow underlings had warned him not to wear it, but currently everyone was so busy with the evacuations no one had cared. He walked through the Space Marine ship, just another Ghostblood who had a job to do. To new to know to keep his head down, especially in the presence, he found himself face to face with a man who obviously ranked higher than him, evident by the badge on his chest. “Hey, you!” the superior said, and the intern was afraid he was going to get shouted at, but the superior just walked ahead and shoved a pile of documents into the intern’s chest. “Give these to Councilman Uwik,” he said, already walking away. “Why?” The intern asked. “One, because I say so,” the superior said, not looking back. “Two, because I have to assist with the evacuations.” The superior stopped. “And three, because there’s no way I’m facing down Uwik right now. Nope.” With that the superior left and intern looked back down the winding hall of twisting metal. Burdened with his new mission, it wasn’t long before another superior came to give him another job, to prepare the Ghostblood vehicles for mass evacuations or something, but when the intern showed him his job of giving documents to Councilman Uwik, the superior just laughed and raised his hands. “Never mind, then. You’re visiting Uwik? What do you want carved on your tombstone?” The intern ignored him and continued forward. As he progressed through the interior of the ship he begun seeing more and more of the high ranking Ghostbloods. Sometimes someone would ask why was he here and when the intern showed then they usually made some snide comment like “ever thought of writing a will?” or “I’ll tell your mother you loved her.” More and more, the intern began understanding why nobody wanted to deliver the documents to Uwik himself, so, of course, it had been given to him. An intern. A sacrifice. Finally, the intern approached the double doors and made his way in. Inside, was a giant red screen that covered the wall, extending to the roof. A single man, tiny by comparison, stood coated in the red light, his back to the intern. Uwik. The intern gulped. “U-uh, Mr. Uwik?” Sharp as a hawk, Lusk turned, his eyes examining the underling they’d send to relay information. “Took long enough,” he muttered, signalling the intern to come forward. “Get over here, I can’t read those documents from across the room.” The intern snapped out of fear and jogged forward. Up close, he could see Lusk’s scars, his grumpy face, a face aged by years of war and conflict. He moved the documents forward and Lusk snatched them out of his hands. The intern gulped again. His boss’ boss’ boss’ boss would still be a few ranks under Lusk. “Thank you,” Lusk said and the intern scampered off, but just before he reached the exit, Lusk said something. “Hey, answer a question for me,” he said in a gruff voice. The intern paused, turning to meet Lusk’s eyes. Was this what everyone else had talked about? It wasn’t like the intern had a choice. “Y-Yes?” “Do you think we’re evacuating enough?” Lusk asked, and the question caught the intern from left field. What was a high ranker in a Great Guild asking the intern for? “Of course,” The intern said. “Don’t you ‘of course’ me,” Lusk growled. “Don’t you dare be polite. Where are you from?” The intern coughed, and the sound echoed. “Uh, the southern alleys, sir.” Was ‘sir’ enough? “Then you know the city. You have the point of view of an average person. When you advance in ranks, you begin to get caught up in this guild nonsense, you begin to get... disconnected.” A hint of sorrow escaped his voice but the intern didn’t dare mention it. “It’s easy to think we know what’s best for the world, but sometimes it takes someone who’s actually a part of it. Hence yeh question.” His eyes pierced the intern again and he could see why everyone had commented what they did. He felt attacked just by the stare, he felt the seeping anger and hostility coming through just the stare, but he also saw tiredness, old age. An angry man who just wanted a solid answer. He must have known the intern was too new to be afraid of honesty. “I...” the intern thought. “Maybe the bakery district?” “What does that mean?” Lusk said, testing the intern, testing to see how far he would go. “You - we - you could send more evacuation vehicles to the bakery district? J-just a suggestion, of course.” Lusk thought about it, and the pause seemed to last more than an eternity. “The bakery district is mainly TUBA supporters,” Lusk said finally, with cold clarity. “So?” “So, the more people who die there, the more power the Ghostbloods get once this is over.” The intern gasped. “But, but they’re our allies!” He said, temporarily forgetting how low of a risk he was compared to Lusk. “For now. But when the dust clears? It’s back to politics, and the more people who support the Ghostbloods who are alive by the end of it the better it is for us. And the more alive who support other guilds? Bad news.” “But p-proportionally,” The intern said, trying not to stumble over his words. “Proportionally you’re spending more evacuation than necessary on Ghostblood areas! And, and the bakery district is one of the most populated districts! Is this really, are you really refusing to help hundreds of innocent people because their guild supports don’t match yours?” “It’s simple tactics, kid. Every guild does it.” The intern backed away, hand on his mouth. “You need to help them! You have to, that’s innocent people!” “Remember your place, kid.” “But, but you asked for my opinion! And I don’t care if every other guild does it, this guild is better than that, right? The Ghostbloods are better than that, right? I thought this guild was different, I thought you valued human life over tactical advantages!” “Get out of my sight!” Lusk suddenly shouted, and the intern shied back, fear suddenly implanting itself back in this soul. “Disrespectful underling, you should be glad I don’t rip you apart right now!” He roared. “If you really storming thought that we were different, if you really storming thought that humanity was better than that, then newsflash, the world is not perfect! The world crushes the generous, kid! The world crushes the good and rewards the conniving. And that’s how you get a guild of assassins as a global superpower, that’s how you get the most powerful people in the world rusting evil scientists!” The intern paled, and he shook slightly. “Dismissed,” Lusk said but the intern stayed. “I said dismissed.” “You can still be good, while being powerful,” the intern said quietly. “We can still be good, while being powerful. That’s the biggest strength. Not being able to kill the most people, or destroy the most mountains. It’s the strength to not get corrupted while having that power. It’s about not abusing it.” “Get out of my sight,” Lusk said, seething. The intern, realising how disrespectful he’d been, took off, running out of the double doors and running as far away as he could, as far away as he could run from the truth. Lusk sighed, pressing a button and the doors shut and locked themselves. His temper boiled, but he calmed himself, and it turned to sorrow. The intern’s words made sense, even if they were naive. Lusk sighed again. But the world simply didn’t work that way, you didn’t abandon tactics for morals and you definitely didn’t disrespect a Triarchy member. His hand moved to a button, to message the superiors to punish the intern severely, maybe send him to the alleys, have a part of him bitten off by an abomination, something suitable to teach him a lesson. But his hand hovered there for a long moment, and Lusk expression turned sad. Was this really what he was going to do? Punishing a kid for telling him how he could be better? It’s easy to get... disconnected. His own voice echoed in Lusk’s head. Slowly, and deliberately, Lusk moved his hand, first quickly, and then with more confidence as he grabbed a device that would connect to all evacuation officers around the city, as well as on the intercom throughout the ship, where communications were taking place. He pressed the button, and took a deep breath. “All evacuation units on the field and off, I want more units down in the bakery district, as many as we can muster without sacrificing our own strongpoint. Right now, the bakery district is the most under-evacuated place on the city, and I don’t storming care who they support, they’re innocent people. Get on it, now.” Affirmative responses sounded from each individual evacuation squad leader, and Lusk looked at the dark green dots on his screen as more vehicles began driving to the places that weren’t being helped, the places they weren’t helping because of ‘politics’. And now, storm tactics, they were going to help them, help those that couldn’t help themselves, because that’s what the right thing to do was. The right thing. It had been so long before Lusk had considered the concept. And far away, the intern looked up, hearing the announcement over the intercom. He was taken completely by surprise. He’d listened. Mr. Uwik had listened to the advice of him, a simple intern. And he smiled.

  7. Cycle 0.5: A close call With the decision made to cut the zombies down the action took remarkably little time. 19 vs 2 is hardly fair odds after all. Both zombies were systematically dismembered and the parts scattered in case they somehow could recombine. Thankfully no shots were fired as unbeknownst to the refugees there was a group of zombies well within earshot that surely would’ve come running at the sound of gunfire. With the grizzly work done, the refugees continued on their way with their hearts buoyed knowing there were two less zombies between them and their goal. Admittedly, I really didn’t think this event through. I just threw it in right before the game opened for sign ups as a way to encourage RP (which has been wonderful) as well as give fair warning that there may be some similar events that could happen mid cycle while the game is playing. I honestly didn’t expect there to be 15 players joining in 48 hours given the slow sign ups we’ve had in the last few games. I’m glad you didn’t shoot the zombies as that meant I would’ve had to start the game early. Sign ups are still open but the zombies are closing in. Join sooner rather than later.

  8. I have been thinking about Bondsmiths and the spren they bond with for a while now, specifically about the power these spren grant their bondmates. It takes no great leap in logic to wonder why. Look at how the Stormfather describes the power he grants to Dalinar: "Yours is the power Ishar once held. Before he was Herald of Luck, they called him Binder of Gods. He was the founder of the Oathpact. No Radiant is capable of more than you. Yours is the power of Connection, of joining men and worlds, minds and souls. Your Surges are the greatest of all, though they will be impotent if you seek to wield them for mere battle." Amazing right? But in this post I'd like to highlight a possible feature to the Bondsmiths and the power they wield that may be an added bonus, implied rather than explicit. Pure speculation, emphasis mine: “But as for the Bondsmiths, they had members only three, which number was not uncommon for them; nor did they seek to increase this by great bounds, for during the times of Madasa, only one of their order was in continual accompaniment of Urithiru and its thrones. Their spren was understood to be specific, and to persuade them to grow to the magnitude of the other orders was seen as seditious. ” I highlight this particular passage because the bondsmith spren defy classification. In every other order one can pinpoint a general shape of what the spren of that order will look like, including characteristics, tendencies, and abilities. Honorspren are blue, playful, and can hide their presence in the Physical Realm from all but a few people. Cryptics have the distinctive symbol heads, can change size and shape but not go invisible in the Physical Realm, and hum when they hear lies. Inkspren can hide in the Physical, but when showing cannot change form, only size, and they are ultimately logical. I could do this for almost every order, spit out facts that differentiate them from other spren, other orders, based on what we find in the text. The point is that there are commonalities among them. Those spren who grant Bondsmith powers are different in that they defy typical classification. The only commonalities they share are that they hold more Investiture than any being on the planet who isn't a Shard and they grant Bondsmith powers to those they bond. After that the similarities end abruptly. We have met 2 of the Bondsmith spren in the text, Stormfather and Nightwatcher, and they could not be more different, either in appearance, temperament, and what would likely attract them. We haven't met the Sibling yet but it seems like it has a different function than the others as well. Take a look at another quote, emphasis mine: "So Melishi retired to his tent, and resolved to destroy the Voidbringers upon the next day, but that night did present a different stratagem, related to the unique abilities of the Bondsmiths; and being hurried, he could make no specific account of his process; it was related to the very nature of the Heralds and their divine duties, an attribute the Bondsmiths alone could address." Unique Abilities. That may not be evidence, but it is a slight indication that Bondsmiths are a bit different. In my mind they cannot just be talking about their regular surges, Adhesion and Tension in that quote. Even the combination of the two amounts to what Stormfather once referred to as a 'party trick'. Well enough preamble, Maybe-Not-So-Crazy Theory time. I have come to believe that Bondsmiths get abilities outside the traditional powers of their order based on which Mega-Spren they bond. I do not know what these abilities are so the speculation must come from what the Spren can do. For the Stormfather he grants his Bondsmith the ability to far see, i.e. he can get a real time video feed of any region the Highstorm touches. For the Nightwatcher it's uncertain, but she has been delegated the task of granting the boons and curses of the Old Magic. Any special ability she would grant to her Bondsmith, I would imagine it would be related to that. We know that the Sibling powered Urithiru and that in the past a Bondsmith was in permanent residence there. Would it grant its Bondsmith the ability to monitor anything going on in that city? All of these abilities fall outside any conceivable application of Adhesion or Tension, even if we attempt to factor in Spiritual Realm shenanigans. It sounds far fetched but we've seen Dalinar display some unique abilities that fall outside what his surges could account for already. Now I'm sure that there are functions that both fall outside what a Bondsmith's surges account and are possible for any Bondsmith to perform. Super Charging spheres according to one WOB is one such ability that all bondsmiths have. For the Stormfather to call Bondsmiths the most capable of Radiants has to mean something, right? I'm just thinking that unique spren with unique functions should grant different abilities as well. Tell me what you guys think.

  14. As the refugees found each other and gathered together they found friendship and comfort from the horrors they had witnessed of the past few months. But as the group grew, so did the heat they gave off. This growing heat source had the unforeseen effect of drawing zombies to them from the surrounding area. EVENT TRIGGERED With 15+ people signing up within the first 48 hours it has triggered an event. 2 Zombies have picked up the scent of the group. You have 24 hours to decide how you are going to deal with them.

  15. So, my opinions on this. Re: OP characters I personally don't mind OP characters, but only if they are rped responsibly. With this I mean either of the following: The person using them realizes the impact the character has and makes sure that they don't directly affect the plot, unless the other participants agree, and in this case only uses the minimum amount of power necessary to resolve it. I'd say Voidus is good example of this. Under this I'd also classify characters that were allowed by the mods but have the potential to become OP because of how their powers and skills work. The character is meant for a specific plot, and is deliberately OP to give a challenge to the other players. This is the place most BoV characters fall in. I'd say the biggest thing here is that the character's level of OPness is properly balanced to make sure that they provide challenge but not steamroll everyone. This also includes giving them weaknesses that can be abused to defeat them that the other players are aware of, or at least able to logically deduce. As for my own feedback for how everything's currently going: I personally feel like the plot is being railroaded too much. While a bit of railroading can be good to make sure the plot stays focused it's currently too much. Right now it feels as if we can't really do anything in the plot. We don't have the knowledge to advance it ourselves and the advancement that does happen only goes in small steps. I've noticed this is being worked on though, so that is good. Another issue with this however is that it currently feels as if nothing we do has any actual impact on what's happening. Most of what we're doing seems to be interacting with other people to kill time until the BoV decides to do something. At the same time I haven't seen a single time where our actions have actually caused anything to shape the plot. The biggest thing interaction I can think of is Mike's and Bellatrix interaction, and even that hasn't created any larger consequences for the plot in general. Currently it feels as if we can do whatever we want, because it doesn't mean anything for the plot, which is kind of disheartening and boring. Keep in mind that these are my own observations, it's possible that the others have different opinions or observations on this.

  18. Something I just quickly wanted to bring to light: after three, gigantic books that have spent time focusing on him, we still don't know the entire story of why Kaladin distrusts lighteyes so much. While we definitely see his resentment beginning to dampen, the main causes are not all fleshed out yet. While the obvious ones (Roshone and Amaram) have been addressed, and their arc in his storyline almost, if not completely, done with, that still leaves ones example of betrayal in Kaladin's past that is unaccounted for. And that's where Katarotam comes in. If you don't remember that name, I can't blame you in the slightest as I forgot it myself since it was mentioned only one time in the entire series thus far. From The Way of Kings; Chapter 4, pg. 82: "Under previous masters, he'd demanded his wages be given to him. They had always found ways to cheat him- charging for his housing, his food. That's how lighteyes were. Roshone, Amaram, Katarotam . . . Each lighteyes Kaladin had known, whether as a slave or a free man, had shown himself to be corrupt to the core, for all his outward poise and beauty. They were like rotting corpses clothed in beautiful silk." However, even with this being his only mention the reader can see the obvious mark this man, Katarotam, left on Kaladin. This raises the question: Who was Katarotam, and what did he do? While from the text and timeline it's obvious to tell that Katarotam came into Kaladin's life during his enslavement, there is no way to tell the specifics of that as Kaladin said himself that he's, "changed hands a half-dozen times" (pg. 76) since his enslavement. Though with Kaladin choosing Katarotam to be among the men who has hurt Kaladin the most, we can assume that he had left a big impression and I therefore have three possible reasons for this: 1.) Katarotam was the first master to be over Kaladin. This would make sense as he would inevitable leave a lasting impression on Kaladin, and could even explain how he would manage to betray him. With Kaladin going from 'youngest squad leader in Amaram's army' to 'disgrace slave' in just one day, it would make sense that he wouldn't really know what to do with himself at first. And with no experience in surviving or even living the life of a slave, Kaladin would have no way of knowing what the average life of a slave would be. With that opening, he may have seen Katarotam as he once did Amaram: a man who cared for those under him. Perhaps Kaladin thought he got lucky and ended up with a master who was lenient, but later proved himself to be brutal? 2.) Katarotam was one of the most brutal masters This is one of the more simple reasons: Kaladin had suffered the worst of his times as a slave under Katarotam. This could still go in a number of ways though- with Katarotam being brutal because he was a horrible man, plain and simple, or being brutal specifically to Kaladin because he had heard of his escape attempts and wished to break him, or perhaps he noticed that Kaladin (a tall, well-built, natural leader) would ultimately bring hope to the other slaves and decided to use him as an example. While I'd say this is plausible, I don't think it's very likely as this leaves no room for betrayal, no room for Katarotam to hide himself behind poise and beauty as Kaladin specifically mentioned in the text. While those examples may refer specifically to Roshone and Amaram (though I don't see how it fits to Roshone seeing as he had it out for Kaladin's family at the beginning) the pause between the mention of Katarotam and the descritpors leads me to believe that most of it was inspired by Katarotam himself. 3.) Katarotam was the one to give Kalain the shash brand This is the most likely of the possibilities to me as the pain of the branding and the long term consequences it would have on his life would definitely be enough of a reason for Katarotam to be up with Roshone and Amaram. Not to mention the branding takes place just shortly before Kaladin's perspective starts in the first book, with his last master making the decision to brand him 'dangerous.' Not only does it make it recent, life changing, and painful, but it also opens Kaladin up to betrayal. This is where the reasoning would spread out a bit, with a number of possibilities being present to why Kaladin would consider Katarotam to be a prime example of how lighteyes are always different from how they prevent themselves. One reason could be referred back to reason 1, Katarotam had somehow convinced Kaladin that he cared for his slaves. Though this seems a bit flimsy to me, it could also be a good reason for how Kaladin can't even bring himself to fully trust low-ranking lighteyes. Another reason could be that Katarotam used bribery to earn loyalty from his slaves, promising them extra pay or even a chance at freedom if they do their work just right. This could to Kaladin to discovering he's a fraud, ultimately leading to the branding. These are just my thoughts, obviously we have very little to go off as he's only mentioned in one chapter but I do believe Katarotam will make an appearance in the form of a flashback in the next book (Slight Spoiler) - much like it did with Tarah- by that I mean her rarely being mentioned until we eventually met her in Oathbringer.

  19. I'm not sure that this is confirmed, but I'm pretty sure that I heard on Shardcast that Adonalsium was Shattered because the Vessels and Hoid were afraid of/trying to prevent some danger or disaster from happening. So, crackpot theory: Is Odium actually a hero on a mission to ensure that the above mentioned disaster never comes to pass. And therefore he has committed himself to a goal of killing as many shards as he can in order to ensure that Adonalsium is never reconstructed.

Shadow and pretty much any other character remind me of C3-PO and R2-D2, and just kinda the constant bantering. Tom is kinda Han Solo, just in the way that they’re both dangerous, and I’m not really for sure where Star fits in, maybe she’s a Jedi of some sort, hard from experience. I don’t know if this really works or not, but when I read “whiny” in your post, it just kinda set off a chain reaction of the similarities of the Star Wars cast and the TLT characters

  24. I was just unsure whether the purpose of the subforum was to have a place where all the silliness and threads with a lot of really short posts or whether it was just just exactly what it sounded like. I understand now though. The signature restrictions make more sense to me now. Thank you for explaining.

I had @BringerofShadows on the mind and this happened. Tried to make it look like the marionette version from Rivals. I think it turned out pretty well. Drawing poses is fun! (I still have a lot of room to grow though)

  30. Night 2 - They Were Right Draff was shocked by how many people were suspicious of Wilco’s survival. Almost immediately, someone claimed that Wilco must’ve been a Rebel who had set up a fake attack to get people to trust him. Maybe it was just because he’d seen how scared Wilco looked in the moment, but Draff thought he trusted Wilco. Over the course of the day, the conversations in the lobby quickly shifted to focus on two people, Furamirionind and Sindale. Draff found a lot of the arguments slightly contrived sometimes, but there were also some pretty good arguments on both sides. As Draff was getting ready to again walk through the halls during the night like he did last night, he started to hear yells from the lobby. Heart pounding, he began to run toward the lobby. Again, he was too late. When he arrived, he found Furamirionind lying on the ground, a pool of blood beginning to form around their head. This time, no one would be going to the infirmary. ~ (6) Furamirionind: _Stick_, Fifth Scholar, Lumgol, Araris Valerian, Straw, Rathmaskal (5) Devotary of Spontaneity: Sart, MrakeDarshall, Ventyl, Amanuensis, Furamirionind Furamirionind was lynched! They were a Police Hazekiller! Player List: PMs are open, but remember that each player may only make one new PM each turn. Remember to include me and Mailliw in all PMs, and group PMs ARE allowed. Due to a change in my work schedule for tomorrow, this turn will be 26.5 hours and will end at 10 PM on June 15th.

  31. Given that Ventyl prefaced their vote by indicating a lack of suspicion on Fura and Aman, and since the vote tally was 3-2 against Fura at the time, I'm fairly sure it was a reaction to Fura getting votes. Both Sart and Ventyl have been around and must have seen me quote them, but neither have responded. Ah, I see, in addition to villagers not knowing who to vote for, elims have more reason to vote a specific way and commit to firmer reads when the lynch outcome matters. The first time you asked me how voting relates to alignment, and I told you. The second time you asked me for reads, and most of those were village leans. The third time you asked me for suspects, and I gave you one main suspect, one lean elim, and three lean village. I am not trying to block you out, I'm just not very good at player analysis. What more did Fura give you? I do not want to be lynched for my playstyle, so I shall vote for Fura and continue the grand tradition of Rath, Fura and I voting consecutively.

  32. Alask shrugged and looked away. “It wouldn’t be the first time the Forge helped someone who left them right after.” He mulled over Eve’s words. Bleak. No way to say that normal people were equal to Invested, and he could see how much she hated that. But that talk of the guilds, he could understand. The guilds wouldn’t think about the long term. The Forge could. If they got the Forge running again, even if it took years, in the long term one would be helpful. Alask clenched his fists. No. No. No. He would remake the Forge. Even if it took years, even if monsters tried to stop him, even if he had to do it rusting alone, he would do it, no matter what. “I like that,” Shez said. “I like your Ambition. I feel... different.” What had happened? The closest analogue Alask could make was a Radiant saying an oath. With determination he looked to Eve and Warden. “You say there’s nothing we can do. Well, there’s one thing,” Alask walked to an old shelf he’d hidden away, taking out a messy collection of documents and papers, throwing them onto the desk. The cover page was titled: Phoenix.

  34. Okey. Thank you, Ark, for creating this thread. There has been a feeling of maybe one too many OP beings without a good weaknesses (e.g. the Haunt, the Tattered One, Lord Ajax probably in the future). All of them are interesting and fun to interact with, but after a while it's a little difficult to advance a plot when at every corner there's a thing that can kill your character easily unless they're OP as well. Unlike Clyde, I don't think there's a lack of death. Death isn't something that requires a certain quantity. If it happens, it happens. It shouldn't be a necessary determinant of a good plot. Maxwell's death was pathetic. No real offense meant to either party involved, but really? The Tattered One stabs him without much, actually, no difficulty. That's not a worthwhile death. A lot of us care about our characters and deaths like that feel belittling. I understand that Clyde was fine with it in this case, but it wouldn't work for many others. As well, it's really easy to fall behind. That's not something that can be fixed, nor is it solely the fault of this plot. It just stems from us all living in different timezones and also living lives - despite our attempts to deny that on many occassion I'm not a BoV member. I'm literally the polar opposite. Pro-citizen rights and anti-Hemalurgy. This plot has been, well, painful in some ways. Citizens turning on one another because of the bloodlust. Frying pan people appearing everywhere and killing them too. It hasn't been fun, to say the least. Especially as, as was previously stated, non-OP characters have real problems in a world like that. Finally, I don't really have anyother remarks at the moment. Likely that will change as things progress in Taste of Death, but for now at leave it at this. This plot is helping with character development to create more broken hating characters. Something we really don't need. Heh, yeah...

  35. Part of the reason Vasher is on Roshar is that he has easy access to investiture in the form of stormlight, which can fulfill his weekly requirement instead of a Breath. For your second question about how Nightblood got from Vasher to Nale, we know that the Nightwatcher presumably had Nightblood since she offered it to Dalinar in OB, and this was before Nale had it. Who knows whether she was the only intermediary between them though.

The first one is Vin in acrylic and the second is Adolin in watercolor pencil. (Had a very limited range of colors to work with on that one so I took some strong artistic liberties....)

  45. I never cared for the triangle, and am not a Shallan fan in general, so her and Kaladin together was never something I considered right. So I’m glad that’s mostly over with. Hopefully we won’t need to read any more about this romantic entanglement. By the end of the book, I mostly decided that Shallan isn’t good enough for either of them, and that they should date each other.

  46. Some of you may have noticed that the blog has changed color recently, at least in places, and most definitely for the better. That is because I finally gave up on poking things with sticks and decided to sit down and learn CSS the normal way: you know, with things I like to call books. Or rather, what ended up as one book in particular. As anyone who has ever tried to teach themselves code before, you will know that most books on the subject are either so easy to follow it's almost pretentious: Or they're almost impossible to understand, listing entire paragraphs' worth of elements and tags without any sort of description of what they are or even do, just assuming that the reader magically knows all of this already and somehow still needs to read about it in a book. Anyways, I finally found one that actually works for me: it's easy to follow, has plenty of examples, and lists some really awesome web development tools. In the past fourty-five minutes I have made the blogs look halfway decent and typed a blog post about it. You're welcome. Anyways, it's still a work in progress, of course, but at least something's been done to make the blogs not look like crap. I hope you enjoy them, and as always, feel free to submit any suggestions you may have. I can't promise I'll be able to fulfill them, or even know how to, but I will at least consider any legitimate suggestion offered. Happy blogging, everyone!
