  3. Night 2 - They Were Right Draff was shocked by how many people were suspicious of Wilco’s survival. Almost immediately, someone claimed that Wilco must’ve been a Rebel who had set up a fake attack to get people to trust him. Maybe it was just because he’d seen how scared Wilco looked in the moment, but Draff thought he trusted Wilco. Over the course of the day, the conversations in the lobby quickly shifted to focus on two people, Furamirionind and Sindale. Draff found a lot of the arguments slightly contrived sometimes, but there were also some pretty good arguments on both sides. As Draff was getting ready to again walk through the halls during the night like he did last night, he started to hear yells from the lobby. Heart pounding, he began to run toward the lobby. Again, he was too late. When he arrived, he found Furamirionind lying on the ground, a pool of blood beginning to form around their head. This time, no one would be going to the infirmary. ~ (6) Furamirionind: _Stick_, Fifth Scholar, Lumgol, Araris Valerian, Straw, Rathmaskal (5) Devotary of Spontaneity: Sart, MrakeDarshall, Ventyl, Amanuensis, Furamirionind Furamirionind was lynched! They were a Police Hazekiller! Player List: PMs are open, but remember that each player may only make one new PM each turn. Remember to include me and Mailliw in all PMs, and group PMs ARE allowed. Due to a change in my work schedule for tomorrow, this turn will be 26.5 hours and will end at 10 PM on June 15th.

  4. So, my opinions on this. Re: OP characters I personally don't mind OP characters, but only if they are rped responsibly. With this I mean either of the following: The person using them realizes the impact the character has and makes sure that they don't directly affect the plot, unless the other participants agree, and in this case only uses the minimum amount of power necessary to resolve it. I'd say Voidus is good example of this. Under this I'd also classify characters that were allowed by the mods but have the potential to become OP because of how their powers and skills work. The character is meant for a specific plot, and is deliberately OP to give a challenge to the other players. This is the place most BoV characters fall in. I'd say the biggest thing here is that the character's level of OPness is properly balanced to make sure that they provide challenge but not steamroll everyone. This also includes giving them weaknesses that can be abused to defeat them that the other players are aware of, or at least able to logically deduce. As for my own feedback for how everything's currently going: I personally feel like the plot is being railroaded too much. While a bit of railroading can be good to make sure the plot stays focused it's currently too much. Right now it feels as if we can't really do anything in the plot. We don't have the knowledge to advance it ourselves and the advancement that does happen only goes in small steps. I've noticed this is being worked on though, so that is good. Another issue with this however is that it currently feels as if nothing we do has any actual impact on what's happening. Most of what we're doing seems to be interacting with other people to kill time until the BoV decides to do something. At the same time I haven't seen a single time where our actions have actually caused anything to shape the plot. The biggest thing interaction I can think of is Mike's and Bellatrix interaction, and even that hasn't created any larger consequences for the plot in general. Currently it feels as if we can do whatever we want, because it doesn't mean anything for the plot, which is kind of disheartening and boring. Keep in mind that these are my own observations, it's possible that the others have different opinions or observations on this.

  5. Zombies!!! ----------------------------------- Everyone's worst fear has come true. Scientists have discovered a way to bring back the dead. Doomsayers said they shouldn’t. They said they would cause the end of our world. They were right! At first everything seemed fine but after a couple of weeks, the reanimated started feeling hungry. Really, really hungry. Then the deaths started. Several months have passed since the reanimated dead started feeding on the living. Now the cities are empty, civilisation as you know it is gone. No more phones, no internet, no power and very little food. One thing is in abundance though. Zombies. Lots and lots of Zombies. You have joined a group of survivors as they travel to what they hope is salvation. Rumours are abound of a safe haven far in the east. After many days of travel and disappointment, you are foot sore and almost out of strength but hope blooms within you as you learn that you are only one week of travel away from safety. 8. As the refugees found each other and gathered together they found friendship and comfort from the horrors they had witnessed of the past few months. But as the group grew, so did the heat they gave off. This growing heat source had the unforeseen effect of drawing zombies to them from the surrounding area. EVENT TRIGGERED With 15+ people signing up within the first 48 hours it has triggered an event. 2 Zombies have picked up the scent of the group. You have 24 hours to decide how you are going to deal with them.

Quickly he floated over, his fog body leaving a translucent trail lit by the emergency lights all around. He hovered near the building, but didn’t enter just yet. That, however, put him on the same street as Lena, and without even knowing she was there —as why would such a great being as himself care about mortals? — Was blocking her exit path. @Sorana

Things like that are not likely to promote genuine discussion and really don't give the impression that you're actually interested in people's feedback. I know that receiving bad reviews of something can be disheartening, but getting aggressive with the people who gave the reviews is just going to promote further conflict and won't resolve anything.

For example, the local weathermen, used to reporting exclusively on the activity of the ashmounts, were faced with the daunting prospect of having to talk about other forms of precipitation. Pictured below is one of the many verbal slip-ups made by the host of Scadrial Weather Watch that resulted:

  17. Given that Ventyl prefaced their vote by indicating a lack of suspicion on Fura and Aman, and since the vote tally was 3-2 against Fura at the time, I'm fairly sure it was a reaction to Fura getting votes. Both Sart and Ventyl have been around and must have seen me quote them, but neither have responded. Ah, I see, in addition to villagers not knowing who to vote for, elims have more reason to vote a specific way and commit to firmer reads when the lynch outcome matters. The first time you asked me how voting relates to alignment, and I told you. The second time you asked me for reads, and most of those were village leans. The third time you asked me for suspects, and I gave you one main suspect, one lean elim, and three lean village. I am not trying to block you out, I'm just not very good at player analysis. What more did Fura give you? I do not want to be lynched for my playstyle, so I shall vote for Fura and continue the grand tradition of Rath, Fura and I voting consecutively.

  20. TLT was a place of entrance for new members. Having a plot has changed that. How many members have you seen participating lately besides yourselves? Rather, how many new members who weren't around before the plot began? When Xino or any other "main" narrators go missing, the plot halts. The thread stops growing. Is that really healthy for TLT? I understand the sentiment of emotional attachment to characters. But, before this all started up, TLT had Butt, it had the ghanderflaffles, it had the breadmunks, it had characters and it worked. Characters can't be a reason to necessitate plot. What is plot but a story? The original goal for TLT was to become the longest thread. Here's the first post of it, a testament to that goal. My opinion on this matter is based on that goal. To be the longest thread. I'm nowhere near as invested in TLT as I used to be, but I still care for it. So...please, remember the reasoning behind it's existence in the first place and make the decision that will be best for TLT.

  21. Hey, players, since I'm getting eaten, I have some great ideas for actions. Summon Flesh eating bunny horde (to eat the zombies) Giant boot to kick zombies Lightsaber Superglue to glue their mouths shut Acquire the flu (to not be infected) Portal gun shenanigans (use is obvious) Chloro trifluoride on zombies(look it up, it's fun stuff) Ritual of the Gods of Luck and Chance, to take a random chance to win the game. What could go wrong with that? Giant hamster ball. They cant get you in one of those! I hope that these suggestions will help combat the Zombies.

  22. Bill Woodsman lives in the woods. He is very good at it. Part of living in the woods involves growing a beard, and Bill is also very good at that. What else does living in the woods entail? Eating berries and roots? I bet Bill is good at that too. Zombies, however, are not good at living in the woods. Granted, they aren't good at living either, but especially not in the woods. Bill does not like zombies. He doesn't like people either, and zombies are just dead people. Double bad.

  24. A perpendicularity will allow you to get from the Cognitive realm of one world to the physical realm of that world, but it doesn’t make it so you can get to other worlds. I’ve always thought of the Cognitive realm as being like a map. Picture a map of the whole universe, with a map of each individual planet laid on top of the universe map at the location of the planet. Now remember that most models of the solar system that people make are super not to scale, because empty space is boring, so you can squish together the vast distances of empty space to be much less vast. The problem people have with this is that we know that each world is round in the physical realm, but even though we know the earth is round, for practical purposes we generally treat it as flat in our minds, which is why we have maps of the world. I expect that the shape of the Cognitive realm for each world probably matches the way most people think of the world. By that I mean where the edges of the world map are.

  25. Furamirionind Third post of the game (hour and a half after game began). Poke votes Fifth. NAI Begins speculation on elim!kandra. Leans toward unlikely. Given how early in the game this discussion is, I'll rank it as NAI Based on Rath and Stick's speculations, comes to like the idea of an elim!kandra. Still NAI Apologizes for not removing vote from Fifth despite reading them as Village (I do too so I understand why). Questions my initial statement on a no lynch (reasonable, as several others commented on it). Also votes Sart to get him talking more, and says they're trying not to spend much time on SE this week due to health related reasons. For the most part I find this NAI without knowing Sart's alignment, but maybe a slight Village lean due to the phase of the game. Joke about the Mistborn claiming by using emojis. NAI Is apprehensive about a no-lynch due to an ongoing game. While I personally expect an eliminator would want to lynch on the first day regardless, it's a reasonable concern for villagers as well, so I don't know if I can say anything more than NAI. Responds to Sart's response and drops their vote, then says they'll probably not vote until later. Due to the nature of this being a poke vote, it's difficult to tell Fura's intentions other than getting Sart's attention. NAI depending on Sart's alignment. Asserts that Ventyl is village (later explained to be for meta reasons). If Ventyl is really village (which I think is more likely due to non-meta reasons), then I kinda doubt Fura would comment on it at all. There's a possibility it could be a pocketing attempt or a disingenuous village read on a villager for credit, but I find that less likely than ignoring it and hoping no one comments. Very slight Village lean. Pings Mrake about Fifth's case on him, when he is tied for votes with Ark 2-2. This is when there's a little more than an hour left in the turn. I would do this from both alignments personally, and have a pretty good amount of trust in Fura's wolf game, so I think I can't give them Village lean for not being bloodthirsty. NAI with the caveat that if Drake is Village like I suspect, it would make sense to grab his attention rather than interfere directly. Posts that they don't want either Drake or Ark dead, but would rather let things pan out than present a new target for a last-minute swing. This stance makes sense from either alignment in a V-V world. In the event that Drake is on an elim team with Fura, then I'd still expect them to vote rather than leave it to chance (unless Drake is a vanilla elim). In other words... NAI depending on Drake's role/alignment. Encourages any surviving Mistborn to PM them soon, otherwise they'll be suspicious. Is the first to propose a V/V lynch, which I think Fura could have come to conclusion at the end of the previous turn, when no one was making an effort to interfere. In spite of their previous post I kind of find this suspicious. Both factors combined, I give this post a slight Elim lean. Responds to Fifth's questioning of Fura wanting Mistborn to claim to them. Doesn't find anyone more trustworthy, which is reasonable for a villager on N1, though I'm not much a fan of that kind of stratagem. Sees little good reason why Drake would be the kandra and gives 1/15 odds (note that at the time, there's 16 living players, so it essentially says nothing). If I look at it in a vacuum, probably NAI, but the previous post makes me lean slight Elim as well. Prods Snipexe's wording about bias and Villager Buck's(TM), and asks for more info on Lum's suspicion of Devotary. Feels more nit-picky than solvy to me, but could really be coming from either alignment. NAI with maybe slight Elim lean. Note that Fura doesn't acknowledge Snip's response, which I would expect a villager to follow up on. Explains why they were apprehensive of no D1 lynch this game (in spite of them supporting it in MR35). While the latter half is pretty NAI, I'm suspicious of the fact they ignored Snip. Slight Elim. Asks Ventyl why a Coinshot should claim to someone, which I can see interpreted as hypocritical based on their previous Mistborn PM request. Slight Elim lean. Asks Xino who they trust the most / least. NAI given how many of us have tried to get Xino more involved. States the odds of a N1 WGG being astronomical, which I took issue with already. While Fura isn't wrong, I would expect a Villager to be less certain / bring up other possibilities. Since I think the elims were caught flat-footed by this development, I'll give this an Elim lean. Responds to Fifth's question of Fura's previous post with further explanation on why they find a WGG so unlikely. I also questioned this because I don't see what ways a WGG could be proven without killing elim!me or an elim!Lurcher/Mistborn. Slight Elim lean. Questions why Stick would lean elim on Fifth if Fura is village, and asks me if I'm trying to get the Lurcher to claim to me. Considering the Mistborn PM request, again, seeing a little bit of hypocrisy here. Slight Elim lean. Here's my full post on the matter. Says Fifth's analysis of Fura is good / feels genuine, and reads him as village. Clarifies the meta reason for believing Ventyl is a Villager, and why they didn't mention it before due to it being meta-based. Also explains that they were trying to avoid an elim!Thug claiming MB to avoid the lynch with their PM request. My problem with this logic is if Fura is village, that means they think it would be reasonable for two village Mistborn to exist. That seems incredibly unlikely so I would expect a Villager to just leave things at "anyone else who claims Mistborn is inherently suspicious." Also votes on Stick for her response to earlier questioning. Believes Stick was reading too much into her flip and hedged in their PM, while also questioning the fact that Stick thinks Fifth and I are V-E or E-V instead of V-V. I actually can see Fura's logic against Stick, though I'm a bit apprehensive considering a portion of it deals with conversations I can't see. I think this might be the best example of E!Fura - V!Stick or V!Fura - E!Stick. Considering previous posts, I'm leaning the first. Slight Elim lean. Vote count. NAI Again neglects responding to Stick's answer, as Fura did with Snip. Further explains they tried to change the lynch toward the end of a cycle in MR35 and was determined suspicious for it. Honestly NAI again because both a villager and eliminator would learn from that lesson. Also edits in that Lum's analysis feels forced. I trust Lum so this doesn't look good for Fura either. Slight Elim lean. And that's all their posts. Earlier I posited that Fura might be an example of TWTBW, but after Fifth pointed out in PMs that it could be a matter of Fura's eliminator tells coming out due to rushing their posts, I think I'm coming around to the idea. Additionally, due to a fact that of these 22 posts, most of them are NAI, I think that could be an indicator of an elim trying to blend with lots of minimal content posts. Here's one thing though. At 11:28 PM on Wednesday (N1, I believe) Fura PM'd me and asked for a PM-contacts trade. I didn't consider the implications of informing Fura much at the time, but I agreed and now I'm a little worried Fura was testing to see if I was networking a lot with the Village. In the event that Fura's an eliminator this was a very bad call on my part, and now that I think about it, I might prefer to resolve this lynch even after I do my analysis of Devotary. Especially since Fura hasn't replied anything more after N1 (while I have). ED1T: This all said, I have a concern I would like to address. It's pretty much entirely speculation based on info we don't have about the kandra, but I have been trying to figure out a way the kandra role might work without a night kill. Given kandra's are known for the ability to disguise themselves as dead people (and the fact this isn't an anonymous game that would allow for the usual mechanic), I'm wondering if it works as kind of infection. With the goal to be the last player standing, the kandra may require being killed to win. The way it might work is that in the event of the kandra being lynched, they can choose among the voters who they infect. In the event of a night kill, whoever puts the kill in would become the new kandra. Write up wise, it would be like the kandra died, but really one of the killers becomes the new kandra, and their win con changes to die as well. Strategically, it would make the most sense to play like a Town of Salem Jester, I.E. intentionally acting suspicious enough to be lynched so they have more options of who continues their legacy. The goal would be for the kandra to collectively work to ensure the last player alive is the kandra. It's a way for the kandra to jump between alignments without breaking the game, too, since if an eliminator became the kandra they would have no reason to spill their teammates names to the village, as they're now effectively neutral with an unrelated win con to the village/elim war. Chances of this being true are probably 1/100, but it's something that crossed my mind, and I figured it would be better to air it out in the thread rather than let it lie (especially since Fura would be the most obvious candidate for a role like this). ED2T: @StrikerEZ, is there a chance of other secrets existing in this game? Or is the kandra guaranteed to be the only one? My main issue with this concept is how would we remove the kandra for good.

  28. Okey. Thank you, Ark, for creating this thread. There has been a feeling of maybe one too many OP beings without a good weaknesses (e.g. the Haunt, the Tattered One, Lord Ajax probably in the future). All of them are interesting and fun to interact with, but after a while it's a little difficult to advance a plot when at every corner there's a thing that can kill your character easily unless they're OP as well. Unlike Clyde, I don't think there's a lack of death. Death isn't something that requires a certain quantity. If it happens, it happens. It shouldn't be a necessary determinant of a good plot. Maxwell's death was pathetic. No real offense meant to either party involved, but really? The Tattered One stabs him without much, actually, no difficulty. That's not a worthwhile death. A lot of us care about our characters and deaths like that feel belittling. I understand that Clyde was fine with it in this case, but it wouldn't work for many others. As well, it's really easy to fall behind. That's not something that can be fixed, nor is it solely the fault of this plot. It just stems from us all living in different timezones and also living lives - despite our attempts to deny that on many occassion I'm not a BoV member. I'm literally the polar opposite. Pro-citizen rights and anti-Hemalurgy. This plot has been, well, painful in some ways. Citizens turning on one another because of the bloodlust. Frying pan people appearing everywhere and killing them too. It hasn't been fun, to say the least. Especially as, as was previously stated, non-OP characters have real problems in a world like that. Finally, I don't really have anyother remarks at the moment. Likely that will change as things progress in Taste of Death, but for now at leave it at this. This plot is helping with character development to create more broken hating characters. Something we really don't need. Heh, yeah...

  30. Odium explicitly wants to become the most powerful being in the Cosmere by killing all the other Shards. Brandon has said that he's using the promise the Vessels made to one another as an excuse to justify why he's gone after paired Shards but we know that his first target was Ambition, because he saw her as a potential rival. In other words, selfish motivations cloaked in excuses. So yeah, I don't see Odium as secretly being the 'good guy' of this story. Rayse not being the biggest threat to the Cosmere on the other hand I'm basically expecting, but him turning out to be good all along, not so much.

  34. Sadly, very few government officials had read Elantris. Those who had were almost able to convince their superiors that the best solution was to let all the Zombies wander into the big cities lured by the prospect of fresh meat, and then trap them there. Further suggestions to dismantle the military and allow merchants with private armies to rule the survivors were met with ridicule. As a result, no part of this genius plan was implemented. Almost 1/3 of the way to our maximum player count. How far can we get before Alvron decides to make us stop running? The Zombies could catch us at any moment... Oh look, they found us! Thankfully, a mere two Zombies would be easy to deal with. All Leon had to do was break out his steamroller and it would all be over. Leon started patting his pockets for keys before realising that he was not at home and this group of refugees he'd caught up with definitely didn't have a steamroller. Leon trusted his machete and leather armour against a mere two Zombies, but there had to be a better way to deal with them.

He swallowed heavily, trying to calm his nerves. "Fine," Eiran said. His voice was trembling. "I'll give her a call. If she says it's okay to bring you over, I will. Otherwise, I cannot." One hand slipped into his pocket to take out his phone. --- People liked to try and kill her, Freedom realized. First Crow, then the Waiter, and now this guy. His attention was off her for the moment, but she'd been the first he'd gone after. She put on the earpiece a Ghostblood had thrown her. Apparently the gamble had paid off, however temporarily. “What’s his weakness? What’s his weakness?!” one of the group yelled. He was trying to attack a lackey. Well...the lackey had tried to bring the creature more stormlight. The acid droplet guy had hijacked it instead. Meaning... "He needs stormlight to keep going indefinitely!" she called back to him, pulling him away from the lackey as a bomb around the lackey's neck exploded. "Don't let him get more and then maybe he'll get weakened!" She let the blast of it hit her at an older age. Burns were pretty healable, she'd been taught, so long as they weren't exposed to rough elements for too long. Once the worst of it dispersed, Freedom let herself return to the appearance of before. All signs of injury from being near an explosion were gone. It still amazed her at how that worked. @Darth Woodrack @I think I am here.
