  1. So my wife and I are on the second season of Daredevil--she's half-assed watching. She hears something and asks, "Did he just call him 'Stick'?" I said, "Yes. But he could be fire." Her look was totally, "What the Hell does that mean and why did I marry you?" Haven't said another word. Waiting for the Ask. I have "smart-chull" issues. :-D

I'll be @A Joe in the Bush (the @sign must be used when addressing me), someone who has played SE for fun, and one time made a server on an entirely separate website designed for connection, because this one wasn't good enough for him.

  5. Welcome to LG53: The Fate of the Forum. This is a Semi-Blackout game of Spambots vs. Eliminators. Our dear Admin Chaos has given me the information about several Spammers who have infiltrated our forum, and are impersonating members of our community. He has tasked us with removing them. Luckily, we Eliminators have an advantage. We know all about the abilities of the Spammers, but the Spammers are unfamiliar with us. Spammer Roles: (Not all roles will be included) Vodiyehi: Has a script that can make thousands of posts per day. If Vodiyehi targets you, no one else will be able to do so. Only Votes and Lynches will be able to target a player. Babaji: Has access to Near Eastern magic that can inspire love or hate. If they target you with love, you will end up joining them. Luckily the cooldown for this is yearly, so they’ll only be able to get one of us before we get them. If they target you with Hate, you will die, no matter what. This can also only be used once. SookeSiled: Posts lots of corrupted URLs and infects computers. If they target you, everyone on the forum who didn’t use their computer will also target you that night. Beirst1928: Built one of the Best Firewalls known to man. Immune to everything except the Lynch. Temptation: Absolutely terrifying with Code. They get into the code and corrupt it. If they target you, your action will do exactly what you didn’t want. You will accidently ban a player instead of protect them. Or you will accidentally reveal your IP address instead of PM them. Or something. And then they will know what and who you are. Vashikaran: They’re rather good at deleting code, so if they target you, there is a good chance that your account will be temporarily disabled. The Spammers do have their own server to talk in, and as a group can get an account deleted every Weekend. I’ll be doing my best to hunt them down myself, so hopefully they won’t all be in play. But I will check in at 11:59 PM PST every Week to check who you guys have vote on, and that player will be banned. Mechanics and House Keeping: Open PM’s. Cycles are split into 2 Turns: Weeks which have a lynch, and Weekends when the Spammers get their Kill. Tied Lynches are decided at Random. At least 0 votes are needed for a lynch. Not all village roles are unique. Quick Links:

  8. Looking at Ahu’s ramblings led me to connect the Unmade to the Heralds breaking as others have and while I was writing this it clicked that the Everstorm could be 10th Unmade created from the 10th Herald breaking. OR should I say E-Vers-Torm?!?! I hid the passage above for length. It is Jezrien rambling to Dalinar in the flashback. What’s he talking about? I know the very end he is referencing the Fused torturing him. But the beginning is about the Unmade and the middle fits the Unmade since they are ancient spren, better than the Fused who are cognitive shadows of Singers. “We let them in” They let the Fused OUT, doesn’t seem right. “We attracted them” How many times have we heard ”attracting a spren” used in SA? ”Befriended them” eh, restating the last thing doesn’t tell us much. “You open yourself up to it and you pay the price” - open up to a bond like with a Spren? ”They ripped my brain out” This has to be the Fused. Is there more of a connection between the Unmade and the Heralds than previously thought? I know there is the theory that one was created when each of the nine Heralds broke their first time. I was skeptical of it, where is the 10th now that Taln broke? But Jezrien seems to be lumping them in with the start and cause of all the problems. What if the Unmade were previously the Dawnshards and were bonded to Heralds to help with the Oathpact? The breaking of the Heralds damaged these spren and allowed Odium to Unmake them. “We were made, then Unmade” Sja-Anat to Shallan CH. 84 The Unmade weren’t always as they are now and the change was a destructive one. People make oaths. The Heralds “bent” their Oaths according to the Stormfather OB ch. 38. One oath Unmade per Herald. “A champion could work well for you but it is uncertain. ... And without the Dawnshards” tWoK Ch. 75 Honor seems to imply the Dawnshards were helpful against Odium in the past, but won’t be available. “Taking the Dawnshard, known to bind all creatures mortal and voidish, he crawled up the steps made for Heralds ten strides tall apiece toward the grand temple above.” tWoK Ch . 36 A Dawnshard that was “known to” as in had already proven it can bind creatures including voidish. It proved this when it helped with binding the Fused for the Oathpact. “One Dawnshard is different from all the rest” -WoB https://wob.coppermind.net/events/226/#e4824 One is different cause it’s the one Odium wasn’t able to corrupt. He got 9 out of 10. “That matches the vision Dalinar saw, though some reports mention ten Unmade”.- OB Ch 77 There are 10 Dawnshards 9 of which have been Unmade leading to the 9 or 10 confusion. But if Taln broke shouldn’t there be a 10th now? Yes, it’s the Everstorm. Unmade we’ve seen are all corrupted / co-opted black or red investiture. The Everstorm clouds are black and it’s lightning is red. Its not spelled E-Vers-Torm like a proper Unmade, but that would give the game away. Possible that Everstorm is what it used to be called before Odium modded it. Which is why Tanavast and the Stormfather already knew its name before it came. Tanavast calls it that in the visions.

  9. So I think I may have discovered the end of era 3. I think that at the end of era 3, Scadrians as a whole are exposed the idea that there are other inhabited words. This probably takes some Justifying, so Que first wob Now that’s interesting right? Of course era 3 is the era that deals with Trell, but Autonomy and his servants really enough to justify “big cosmere stuff” however vague that type of wording is. I don’t think so. I think Scadrial has to be significantly changed in the end of era 3. But in a way that is different then era 1(Not making physical changes to the planet.) It’s interesting that Brandon is looking forward to Mistborn book 10 over era 4. Brandon is a fan of twists, and if you’ve read alactraz 4, Firefight, or Well of Ascension, you know that Brandon is a fan of putting a HUGE twist in the penultimate story. And in a large way, era 3 is the penultimate story of an entire era, and will probably have a twist to mach. This part is interesting, and perhaps the section I’m least confident about. In trying to come up with ways that the other worlds could be revealed to the Scadrians, my mind immediately jumped to kelsier. Kelsier is obviously aware of other worlds. As the god of at least two religions, it would be cool if Kelsier-after our heroes defeat Trell- revealed himself self to the world and told the Scadrian’s that Trell, who almost destroyed their planet, was one of many other shards. And that they needed to be ready, in case another one turned it’s eyes to Scadrial. Again, I’m a lot less confident in this section, but I definitely thought It was worth mentioning. I’m curious to hear what you guys think, because I think this would be a very interesting direction for the story to take.

  10. Really liked it. It almost felt weird enjoying it so much when it's a YA series and I'm 31. I've seen the complaints about the rushed ending, and felt it a bit too. But it didn't ruin the series for me. Prof was such a great character. I really liked that his weakness was fear of failure when he's putting everything on the line. So many people fear failure and will self sabotage so they have the fall back answer. That was cool to me. I expected David's transformation to take place sooner. I thought once he survived the tower with Megan it would be a rapid descent into figuring out how to use Steelheart's power set leading to a battle to bring back Prof.

  13. "OK." Mac said, returning the nod to Lita. He bagan warping the tables and vials of blood to the cleaning department. Once he was done he turned to the wall, and he looked through the wall into the alleys. He saw all of them. Every single one. Even the ones that most people didn't consider alleys, like the alleys in between atoms and molecules. The small alley in between an bed and a nightstand. Every single one. He saw it all and understood it. Then he calmly picked up a fractal alley and moved it infront of him. He took a step forward and into the alley. All someone watching would have seen was a guy go from existing in 3 dimensions to 1.58 And disappear.

  21. On the topic of gender reassignment spells, I’m not sure if those would be a thing in world as they would require an extremely advanced biological knowledge. For true gender realignment surgery you would need to change the DNA itself. Brain chemistry altering rituals would also require an extremely advanced knowledge of anatomy. So while both of these would technically be possible I don’t know if people would be able to actually do them. Magic should generally be illegal if it is affecting other people without their permission. In terms of how careful the academy is, it would depend on what part of the academy you are a part of and how you are there. Is the DA paying you to learn to be a mage? Are you a GB assassin on a mission? The academy itself shouldn’t have any legal or political power I don’t think. I also don’t think that there would be a mage council as a separate political entity. The mages would most likely be dependent on the government and the armies for maintaining control of the crystals. In addition, the combat ability of a ritual using mage is about equal to that of a swordsman, and they would need to spend a lot of money in order to have enough crystals on hand to fight with. In addition the only mages that know enough to be threatening are the ones who know how to change their age. Those are the people who were around 60 years old before they started taking the advanced theory course. Most people don’t have the recourses or desire to spend most of their life learning when they could learn some useful tricks for their profession and then leave. So the vast majority of the students would be aged between 30 and 60, with maybe 7% of the entire university older than 60 mentally. As to the actual punishments, it would depend on the crime obviously, but most would result in death or brain death for the experienced ritual users. These people often can cast spell mentally with only the circles, and considering that one could even use a piece of string to make a circle it could be extremely dangerous to keep them alive. For the public, I think it would be similar to a scientist in our world. Like, I know a biochemist, I know vaguely what they do, I know where they work, but I don’t know anything about what they use to do their job, what it’s like to be a biochemist, or anything similar.

  23. In this first point, your elaboration is what I would definitely prefer. In the second point, I think that the line would fuzz in that regard. We are discussing "gender" here but I was thinking Innate magic would usually follow biological sex, irrespective of gender. I also think that perhaps the Innate magic would respond to a transgender person in kind, flipping someone into the "outlier" portion of their sex. With Natural magic being fueled by belief, I imagine that you could also explain it this way, that the Innate's self-perception has channeled their magic into the opposite expression. I also think that due to Natural magic making both the landscape and humanity itself somewhat "fluid," the idea of gender fluidity would be far less controversial in most societies in this world than one might think for a "medieval" landscape. I think that it would probably be uncommon in relation to the general population, and outside the expected norm, but not abhorrent or taboo.

  24. As a thought, when you're quoting WoBs you should really use the quote tags (look for the quotation mark symbol when you're entering your text) since the way you're writing now means that the text you're quoting and the text representing your own thoughts are indistinguishable. Also, the all-bold's pretty distracting. Anyhow, yes, Scadrial has to become very Cosmere-aware for Era 4 to happen so some big revelation in Era 3 is likely. We've already got the Set who are Cosmere-aware and working on their own goals with Trell's influence and Harmony is deliberately pushing Scadrial in that direction even now, so with the stage is already set for the big picture to become public knowledge sooner rather than later. Hoid and the other unknown force or forces pushing the development of instant noodles may also have a role to play.

I don't think that would have been occurring at all if the sibling was either bonded, or required bond for Urithiru to function... Otherwise they would have understood exactly what was happening from every other time that the Sibling were without a bond.

In addition to that, there is an interference between Allomantic genes and Feruchemical genes that has helped along the whole Ferring situation. The sDNA unravels a little, it sounds like from the WOB, the two sets of sDNA combine, and then the Feruchemist no longer will have access to all of their metals/abilities due to the combination of two technically different sets of Investiture (one being pure Preservation, the other, a mix) cancelling each other out as Investiture tends to do to other Investiture.
