  3. Mwahaha, all according to plan... Is what I wish I could say. Seriously, I got super lucky. After not doing much of anything for three cycles, I jumped into a body with a gun. By a weird set of coincidences, I thought Dingo was Kangaroo's murderer, and so I killed them. And then, because I split Dingo's phones with Tuatara, I learned he was the other killer, and killed him to get the rest of the loot. I didn't think that would win me the game! Heck, I thought he was going to shoot me, and only shot him so all of our items would be redistributed. Everyone else was making these super intricate plans, but I just got lucky with both of my kills. Also, I'm pretty sure Azure Mouse's phone was cursed. Day 1: Azure Mouse gets lynched, and the phone goes to Sage Kangaroo. Day 2: The phone lies dormant, lulling Sage Kangaroo into inactivity. Day 3: The phone mind controls Sage Kangaroo, forcing him to pass it to Melon Dingo. To cover its tracks, it has Chartreuse Penguin kill Sage Kangaroo. Day 4: Amethyst Scorpion calls the phone, and mistakes the call's recipient for Sage Kangaroo's murderer. In retaliation, Amethyst Scorpion shoots Melon Dingo. At the same time, the phone beckons the Gods of Luck and Chaos, and makes Cream Tuatara kill Melon Dingo. Day 5: The cursed phone is picked up by Cream Tuatara, which lets Amethyst Scorpion know of his identity. Amethyst Scorpion kills Cream Tuatara to get the rest of Melon Dingo's loot. The phone now lies dormant in my possession. I shudder at what might happen to me.

Not actually too sure where to put this, it's more an idea concept than anything. But, this poor girl's got spikes in her so I'm throwin' it in with the rest of my Alleyverse stuff. In other news my Google search history now includes "blood from puncture wound."

I never really thought about the Shards until I read the WoK epigraph about Ati. A kind and generous man. One who did in no way deserve his fate. So, I took it upon myself to draw him. With a flower. Poor thing.

  6. Hi All - Introducing myself to the forum here. I actually made this account in 2015 after I finished Elantris (my first exposure to the Cosmere at the suggestion of a good friend). I periodically have come to the 17th shard just looking at fan theories and Forum topics as I continued to read more of the Cosmere works. Having now read a bulk of the books/short stories I wanted to introduce myself and I plan on contributing to the forum and responding more frequently. I have read: Elantris, Mistborn Era 1 & 2 (through bands of mourning), Arcanum Unbounded, Stormlight Archive (through Oathbringer), War Breaker I believe the only thing left is White Sand. I am a big fantasy fan in general, grew up on Hobbit/Lord of the Rings, have read all of the ASOIAF books, Patrick Rothfuss, and now the Cosmere. I have to say of all the fantasy I have read, I like Brandon the best. I think the concept of creating epics within epics and building the Cosmere as a whole is incredibly ambitious so I am excited to be along for the ride and explore the worlds and content as it progresses. Favorite Character so far is tough, I would say top 3 are Kelsier, Hoid (specifically Wit), and Lopen. Looking forward to being more active on here, particularly coming up with and commenting on theories for the future of the Cosmere. Cheers

  8. Hello everyone- I am new to all of this, but I decided I had to join. I have been a huge fan of The Cosmere for a while now. I love listening to the audiobook performances of the books over and over while I travel, work out, or really anytime except sleeping. I have been in the Military for 19 years now and it’s hard lug a book collection with me everywhere. The iPad helps but it’s mostly audio books now. My favorite Cosmere book is Arcanum Unbounded because it is a little bit of everything. I think of the types of investiture, I like Biochromatic breath the best. I prefer it mostly because of its versatility. If I was a Knight Radiant, I would be a Stoneward. I look foreword to conversations with everyone. Always Faithful, BlackLeaf

  12. Welcome to Greenhara, a place once thought to be legend. The one place in the Rust where the all permeating Rust does not penetrate. Ruster's powers still work in the last green place, but everyone views them as a curse, as they bring in the curse. The area is commonly considered a war zone, with many bandit groups and burn lords trying to gain control of the city and attacking often. There isn't much land in this area, and what is here is either worth a fortune in water or has a farmer whose willing to defend their land to the death and has done so on multiple occasions. No one knows the source of Greenhara's protection against the Rust, but all do know that whoever does figure it out will become the savior of the entire Rusts. When entering Greenhara there is a man, standing on a box, calling out loudly.„Salvation is upon us! Listen my friends, for salvation is finally here. We have paid enough for our sins of old, the gods have given us a chance. They have sent us a way out of this. This place ist he proof, this place is a miracle, sent by the gods!“He spreads his arms widely, looks around to see if anybody is listening. Most of those, who seem to live here, or at least arrived a while ago don’t, but some travellers wearing packs stop and listen to his words.„We need to keep peace. We need to live together and then the gods will see that we are worthy and they will take the curse from us.“A woman saunters on a box close to him. She is wearing a set of cloths, that are meant to like like a serving girl’s, but are mostly doing a great job to enhance her womanly features.„Come to the „Rusty horn“. The best saloon outside of Broadhead. We have drinks, entertainment, and of course company for the night.“The man shoots her an angry look, and she waves cheerfully at those standing in front of him.„Beds for newly arrived avvailable as well.“she shouts out to everybody close enough to listen and then hops down the crate.„You only make it worse, Kate! There’s a lot of these opportunists already.“someone calls from those around, and she only laughs.„The more people come to Greenhara, the better. Did I mention, that the „Rusty Horn“ also is the only saloon around here? I hope to see you all there soon!“Walking away she waved at noone in particular, while the man standing on a box tries to regain the attention of his audience. @I think I am here. @Ark1002 @Clyde Coggins @Darth Sir Woodrack Groot @Snipexe

  16. Awesome! Same story here! Although I don’t really put in the time like want to be/should be... it’s funny how with all the roleplay here, you can really tell the difference between the aspiring writers and... those who are not aspiring writers. There’s just a love for the scene thst you can really feel whenever they post y’know? anyhow... The nightwatcher cracks a grin. “Finally, It’s you. I’ve been waiting so long.” She closes her eyes and tilts her head to feel the sun on her face. “It has been done. Thank you Zath. You’ve saved us all.” Above her head, the sky cracks, blue and white light spilling out of the seams that stitch the world together. A deep rumbling emenates from the ground, from the plants, from the air itself as the earth takes a deep sigh of relief. You stare up in wonder as the light intensifies, and as the cracks spread. Other colors join the blue and white—green, red, black, yellow—the full spectrum of light and energy joins in and bathes the earth in warmth. The nightwatcher begins to laugh. Beginning a low chuckle, it quickly becomes a mad, hysterical laugh. She points to the East, at the horizon line of the mountains and sky. “Look!” A golden light seems to concentrate... first a pinprick, then a flame, then a star. It shines with terrible power and destruction. “He cannot possibly stand against the Collective! It’s over! It’s finally over!” The golden light concentrates from a star back into a tiny point, before blazing across the sky in a single, powerful beam. It flies overhead, consuming everything and threatening with all the rage and hatred of divinity. Just as you’re nearly convinced you’re doomed to be consumed, the beam impacts against the sky itself, pressing against the cacophany of colors. They contest for a few, precious, breathtaking moments. If you haven’t figured it out before you’ve now realized you are witnessing history on an infinite scale. The golden light falters, then fades, before being blasted back by a brutal unleashing of raw power. When your vision returns to you, the harsh golden light is gone, utterly destroyed. Standing above you in the air dozens of beings radiating light of all colors survey their newly-reclaimed home. They cry out in unison, their voices gentle, yet piercing, drowning out all noise and enveloping continents. “WE ARE THE COLLECTIVE. YOUR GODS HAVE FAILED YOU. WE WILL SAVE YOU. CEASE YOUR WARS. CEASE YOUR STRIFE. PROGRESS, GROWTH, AND PEACE WILL BE PROVIDED FOR YOU. THE WAR IS OVER. THERE WILL BE PEACE. FOR ALL TIME AND ALWAYS.” The Nightwatcher smiles at you again. “Thank you. Your bane is that you’ll have garlic breath for the rest of your life.”

  19. Lita peered down the strange black alley with its white pathway and turned on a light burn of tin. She regretted it the moment she stepped out of the doorway, as the walls and pathway flashed in a dizzying array of color and light. Lita extinguished her tin, squeezing her eyes shut for a moment and willing her feet to remain exactly where they were. She opened her eyes; Mac was down the path a ways. The floor between them felt oddly insubstantial, like it wasn't quite real. Lita narrowed her eyes to slits and concentrated on her feet. The colors on the pathway pulsed with the rolling beat of her own steps. She walked, hardly daring to blink, until she arrived where Mac stood next to a doorway into another alley. Thankfully, this one looked normal. Nothing here is normal, she reminded herself. Lita looked up at the suited man, pushing her glasses further up her nose so she could see properly. Colorful spots popped and danced before her eyes, and she blinked hard, shaking her head a bit.

  20. "It has certainly been an illuminating couple of hours," She said. Mac decided that it would probably be best for her to retain her sanity a little longer, so he didn't mention that this R&D Laboratory was outside of the normal time stream. Instead he grinned, "You have no idea. Follow me please." He walked to the door of the lab and opened it up into what appeared to be an infinite blackness with a single white path. Before walking out onto the path he turned around, staring at her. "Do not, under any circumstances, step off of the path. Alley 7+86i is an interesting one, as you will soon find out. But do not leave the path." He then started walking down the alley. Like most of the imaginary alleys, this one changed after every step. Every step he took the color of the path and and the void surrounding it changed randomly. Thankfully he was not epileptic, or else he would have been in trouble. He walked about 100 yards then stopped and opened an invisible door next to the path. This one was a door to the more traditional alleys. The ones with integers as their labels. These just looked like normal city alleys. Once there he waited for Lita to arrive. @ZincAboutIt

  24. Yes, but we're also talking about an author who considers the implications of magical time bubbles blue-shifting visible light into x-rays. Brandon breaks the rules of physics left and right, but he usually tends to do it in ways that make a certain kind of sense. I think Brandon is much more likely to bend or bypass the rules of Relatively than he is to just outright ignore them. There's several ways to do FTL without saying, "Who's Einstein? Just go faster."

  28. If by fixing him you mean remove his spikes, I think that would kill him unless Saze made him into a Fullborn at the same time. He's been using the atium age hack to stay alive all this time. I think Saze was the one that busted Marsh's face, though I guess it kind of still works in the same theme. "my pal, the Hero of Ages did this, be jealous".

  29. Without Ruin's corrupting influence, is there any reason to fix him? Marsh has some awesome powers due to his spikes. Or do you just mean the cracked skull? Dunno, might be a badge honor, like "my niece, the ascendant warrior did this, be jealous".

  30. The story is about the human-listener relations. The people in the girl's village believe that the wall is there to keep something out. When the girl climbs the wall and looks at the other side and sees the stairs she learns that the wall is designed to keep something in. So the people in the village who believe themselves to be the potential victims of whatever's living on the other side are actually the dangerous beings that need to be kept away from the other side. I believe the "wall" is a metaphor for the mountains separating Shinovar from the rest of Roshar. So, the village people are the people from Ashyn, supposed to remain on the Shin side of the mountains who shield the listeners from human invasion. I see it as foreshadowing to the big "humans are the true Voidbringers but have no idea" revelation in OB.

  34. Death by a thousand cuts. Use slings, bows, crossbows, and guns to pelt the shardbearer with a bunch of high energy projectiles until their plate either cracks or runs out of stormlight. Unless you are a shardbearer your self, the best option is to buy time and wear out the shardbearer with out getting too close. Try and pin them down so that more of the shots hit the armor.

  41. It's also possible that Bevadon is not an agent of Bavadin, but that it's a product of Bavadin's long (though subtle) influence on Scadrian culture. We don't know when Autonomy first began meddling on Scadrial, but if you look at Sazed's description of (pre-Lord Ruler) trelagianism in TFE with Autonomy's many aspects in one thing, it seems like the Shard has been around since before the Final Empire. Perhaps the name Bavadin made it's way into cultural use (changing slightly over time), [minor Stormlight spoiler] In this case it would simply be evidence that good ol' Bavvy has been messing with Scadrial for a VERY long time. But there's an even more disturbing possibility (cue scary music): Brandon just RAFO'd that question to mess with us, and it's not important at all
