  1. In the fight for supremacy of the 4th roast tournament, one round stands out…. The Nobility of Roshar is grouped together to roast each other… While the smoke rises from the Rift based roasts, in a clearing a figure steps out, dressed in a splendid coat made of the best Liaforian fabrics…. While the word HATE appears in golden flames on the ground, he starts to rap in a perfect beat, initiating the end of this round….

  5. So this week in general was great. Especially yesterday, but all in all I am really happy right now. Yesterday we went to a concert of my favourite band and they were fantastic. They played lots of great songs, especially lots of older ones. It was really fun to see, how the crowd was quieter when they announced their old ones. I have almost no voice today, because I had to sing every song along. Their music helped through a lot of darker times in my life and to see them again after three years, I can't really describe how much that means to me. And I decided to go to another concert of them again in two weeks. There are still tickets available And my brother and I decided to fly to Australia next year and right now it looks like my company will play along and I can go. And Skyward hit the market this week and it was great!

  6. Lol, I asked so many questions of Brandon that he misquoted himself in my personalization. He combined "Can I eat your lunch?" and a Skyward quote to make "Can I eat your stars?". Ladies and Gentlemen, Lift now wants to eat the stars... For those of you who were asking about whether or not I am present on the 17th Shard, here I am. Brandon answered two things for me.... (Spoiler Alert for Oathbringer and Elantris) In the scene between Odium and Taravangian at the end of Oathbringer, we see Odium expanding upon The Diagram with his future sight. There is a blacked-out portion with Renarin's name linked to it. Brandon confirmed that this is because Renarin's future sight interferes with Odium's in a manner similar to how burning Electrum interferes with Atium. He said that all future sight interferes with each other through a sort of ripple effect. With Elantris, Brandon stated that the Dor's renewal of Elantrians is partly because of the changes wrought upon them and partly because of the large Aon Rao that forms Elantris. With respect to the changes wrought on the Elantrians, he said that it is partly because of changes to the spiritweb and partly because of physical changes to their body (similar to the physical changes in the Dakhor monks). He RAFO'd everything else unfortunately...

  8. Looking back on this, I'm more minded to view Fifth as a villager from it. Given the actions of Metaterminal, It looks like the eliminators tried to keep me from being praised in the first cycle. This post contradicts itself within four lines. He claims to want a D1 lynch, fitting with common village wisdom, but sets a standard of voting for himself far higher than is feasible on D1, and conveniently prevents him from expressing an opinion. I'm similarly slightly suspicious of Elandera for the push to prevent my being praised, particularly in light of some of her later interactions with Metaterminal and Rathmaskal, but much less so than of MetaTerminal. Here, Elandera puts thoughts on the lynch into the open, contributing to discussion, and I'm still unconvinced that the attack on her was a WGG. Again, fear of me without rationale, and voting for a candidate demonstratively as influential in the first cycle. Why would Fifth not be just as much of a risk of shooting yourself in the foot? Here Meta requires someone else vote properly before removing a poke vote, seemingly to encourage discussion, whilst simultaneously acting in a way that admits to having no reason for his own vote. The double standard, and the refusal to engage in alignment indicative posting build my suspicion of MetaTerminal. Again, a lack of alignment indicative information, and jumping on a bandwagon. This is the first post that clears Araris for me. He quite correctly points out that Metaterminal shouldn't be nearly as frightened of me as he claims to be. Elandera summarises the thread, which I normally find suspicious, but adds her own thoughts. Her suspicion of MetaTerminal this early leads me to further diminish my suspicion of her. @MetaTerminal, why then did you vote to praise Fifth Scholar in the same cycle? He was just as vocal in the cycle as I'd been, and was just as much of a threat with influence. Further, I've never played a game with you that I recall, and am unsure why such paranoia is therefore apparent. This reads very much to me like an attempt to justify preventing village!Orlok from having influence due to fear your team has made you aware of. MetaTerminal goes to great lengths here to have us avoid looking for eliminators in the bandwagon he joined. MetaTerminal defends Rathmaskal (further links between them later), and votes on Fifth, an active player. He backpedals significantly on his views on the Cadcom lynch. At this point, I might conclude that MetaTerminal was the only eliminator in this lynch. I'm minded to clear Steeldancer for this post. Araris' continued focus on MetaTerminal also leads me to believe he's a villager. Link between MetaTerminal and Elendara. I keep flipflopping on whether they're teammates, or whether this is a pocketing attempt. Definitely worth a scan, and maybe a lynch after lynching MetaTerminal and Rathmaskal. Further interaction between MetaTerminal, Rathmaskal, and Elendara. This strikes me as a panicking eliminator distancing himself from the team, when he thinks he might die. Real life happens, and I'm very surprised by the vote on me here. The vote removal from Rathmaskal feels odd, at this point. This post saved MetaTerminal, and with the above leads me to think MetaTerminal and Rathmaskal are teammates. At this point, I'd clear Steeldancer, Araris, and Fifth, and would like other views on Elandera.

  12. My first signing. Great to hear him talk and hear that noncanon scene from Stormlight 9. I got a couple books signed, and asked him about kandra and aviar. Me: I know you've said in the past there are size limitations for what kandra can mimic, like they can't lop off a part of their body and make a squirrel. So my question is if a Kandra in human form absorbed or consumed an aviar and placed it on their shoulder like a pirate, it wouldn't be able to fly off ever but it would be a contiguous part of their body connected to them. So could the kandra gain the aviar's abilities? Sanderson: *thinks* No. Good question! No, because they're just replicating the body not the soul.

It’s like the systems magic # is 10 because of them. You would think it would be 13 or 16. They are also named for the 10 essences and are portrayed as having the same color as the gemstones of each radiant order. I don’t know if that’s an in world artistic flair or if the gas giants actually are those colors.

  17. My work-around for that is to post a status update on their page, then report my post. Alternatively, you could PM them, then report your PM's OP. I find that the mod's response is often underwhelming in these cases. Usually they remove their About Me page, and purge the info from their bio, but rarely delete the account. Sure, most bots are harmless, and hardly worth reporting. For most accounts, people will only see the ads if they go to the bot's profile page. But leaving the account intact means their username is unavailable for real people, and it artificially inflates our member tally. I know that the mods don't want to accidentally delete a real person's account, so for benign accounts they often play it safe and just maim it, which is fine. But I wish they had an option to 'hide' accounts, like they can do to posts (maybe create a special title for bots, like the Arcanist and Global Mod titles, but it revokes the accounts ability to be seen). Or they renamed obviously fake accounts SPAMBOT####### to free up their username and make it obvious what they are. That said, I don't want to take away from all the great work they currently do to fight bots. Y'all are super dedicated and on top of things, and I appreciate it.

First thoughts I had after finishing was I really got to work on my insults and battle cries some the ones I read were just too good. Second thoughts I had was I felt that the answer to some of the questions answered were answered to close to the end of the book I understand that we are getting more books, but come on at least give us more time to take them in. Other than that I really liked how Sanderson developed Spensa over the course of the series. Oh and there is totally something up with Doomslug I mean a slug that can move incredibly fast in an instant screams teleportation to me.

  22. *hugs @Ashspren and @Inklingspren* People suck. That's just life, but it sure doesn't make it any easier. Ashspren, talk to her. Not even necessariliy to her face-to-face, but find a way to tell her all of that. Honesty is a solution that almost always works. Tell her how you've been feeling and most likely you'll discover some miscommunication you've both been missing. Ink, time does wonders to rumors. The moment something else comes out, you'll be considered old news. Probably. And hope your mom gets home soon-ish so you will cease to be headphoneless.

  23. Okay, so this may seem kind of petty, but it’s actually been affecting me, unfortunately, and I’ve gotta get some thicker skin and get over it. Basically, there was this girl. She was a friend of mine for a very long time, and we were inseparable. Now, come this year, something, for some reason, changed. When she’s around other people, she acts like she doesn’t know me. But, when it’s the two of us, she still acts different than what it was before, just... different. Sometime after she changed, she found out that I hadn’t told her this “very important” secret. It turned out to be the fact that a very close friend of mine wanted to ask her out. He asked me not to tell anyone, so I said I wouldn’t. Case closed. I don’t ever go back in someone’s trust like that. However, she came up with some rules of “being best friends” and said that we had to tell each other everything. Then, she proceeded to poke into my social life, and after literally thirty seconds, she proceeded to tell me, “This is all you ever talk about. Why can’t we talk about something else?” For the entire three months after that, she didn’t talk to me. At all. I felt like this was kind of melodramatic. Now, throw an over enthusiastic friend into the equation. Like, look dude, I love you and all, and you’re like an annoying twin brother to me, but please please please stay out of this. He noticed that we were having problems in our friendship, and he is someone who I’ve always confided in. Unfortunately, he ended up telling her everything that I said about her. I didn’t say anything bad, but still, I wouldn’t want somebody to go around telling people what I say. It’s personal. His solution was to stage a conference call with the old friend and I, and have him acting as a mediator between us. I decided against it, because I didn’t want to get more people involved. I appreciate that decision more and more, now. I don’t want to blow this up. Now, add in the fact that she started insulting a close friend of mine. I don’t know if she’s jealous, but news flash to her: she’s the one who started acting different! Throughout this entire “distant” period, I’ve been trying to talk to her and just have a conversation, but she blows me off and essentially avoids me. Finally, the most recent part. I found myself thinking, “Nope. This is the end. Put on the Taylor Swift, because ‘the story of us looks a lot like a tragedy now,’ and ‘we are never ever ever getting back together.’” “Hey, [Ashspren]! Yesterday was, like, the first time in four years that you haven’t come over! It’s almost tradition!” She didn’t invite me over. “Haha, yeah, stuff just got really busy.” The next day, via social media, I found out that she invited a bunch of other people over. I don’t know why this bothered me so much, because I knew everything was pretty much done, but it did. I think it was maybe the fact that she had the nerve to say, one day after all of those other people went over, that I hadn’t been there. It really just rubbed me the wrong way. Anyway, I realize that she’s actually a very toxic person to have in my life, but I still look back and see all of the good times from earlier in our “friendship days,” y’know? It’s just difficult to see the new person that she’s become. Again, this all seems really petty and not that serious compared to some other things on this thread (I’m sorry!), but I just needed to rant.

  25. An added thought: This book definitely felt like Sanderson still had some "Stormlight writing" in him with the additions of the interludes and the drawings. If this is a constant thing going forward, I am ALL ABORD. The interludes aren't anything special, but they definitely helped flesh out Ironsides, and while the drawings are simple, they add so much in terms of cinematic value! It makes me feel like I'm getting the most bang for my buck.

The tagline was inspired by an incredibly funny comment by @RShara that Mr. T is a plant by Cultivation: The back of the shirt will have to wait until I have more time to get my silk screen up and running (spoilered below): So if you see someone with a giant spray painted T on their shirt at the signing, it'lll most likely be me.

I don't want to throw some empty words over, it's hard if your friends can't accept you as you are, I know that from experience. But those friends that take you as you, those are more worth than the rest of them together. @Ashspren It's hard to loose friends, especially if it was a long and intense friendship. Try to talk to her, and tell her how you feel. *hugs* I really hope you can sort it out!

His crucifixion would be similar to Kaladin being left out during the highstorm, and the pain he experienced in the Bible could be him unbonding from his spren. Also, his disciples would be the equivalent of Bridge Four, and Judas would be Moash.

  35. We don't know what the "Connection trick" is that worldhoppers seem to do, but the easiest way to seem Rosharan is to be skilled at learning a local language, customs, etc., all while living a role for a long time. Doesn't it seem unusual that Felt isn't just a "Scadrian on Roshar" the way Demoux was seen to be at the Purelake, with his compadres of the 17th Shard, or like Azure? They're people who had a reason or a mission to accomplish on Roshar, were "popping in", and in Azure's case, kind of got stuck longer than she intended to do, what with getting sidetracked with the Wall Guard at Kholinar. And their use of local language via Connection, like Allik's speech in The Bands of Mourning, still have accents and turns of phrase that seem strange or foreign to the locals. Vasher/Zahel has "gone to ground" with a longer, open-ended identity as an ardent on Roshar, and would be more likely to have learned Alethi "the hard way", yet even he stands out as "odd" due to his use of color-based turns of phrase identical to what Azure says ("like white on black"), suggesting he's still using a Connection trick at least sometimes. Felt does not. He stands out physically to Dalinar, but in almost no other way. And, he's integrated into Alethi society for the long haul - he was already in Dalinar's service when he visited the Nightwatcher, and was still in Dalinar's scouting team at the Battle of Narak, spanning many years. He didn't just "pop in" like a worldhopper on a mission, and appears to have "gone native" at a deeper level than Zahel the "worldhopper gone to ground". He's even married. He's from Scadrial, and it's a little odd how a House Venture spy would survive the Catacendre to become not just a worldhopper, but one that would be a long term one like that... But it's exactly the origin planet, skillset, and modus operandi of a kandra. I was going to say that Felt would also be suspiciously long-lived, but we don't really have an official cosmere timeline placing the events of SA versus MB Era 1, plus obviously Demoux has done it, so why not Felt? I'm just pointing out that at the same time as we've been asked to consider how unusually not unusual Felt is for a worldhopper, we're also looking around for who might be the kandra on Roshar that we've also supposedly seen; and hey, "fitting in far better than your run-of-the-mill worldhopper" is exactly what one would expect from a kandra, yeah?

Per the coppermind: Species Larkin World Roshar Featured In The Stormlight Archive Appearance and Personality[edit] When Rysn received her, Chiri-Chiri was about the size of the palm of her hand. She looks like a winged cremling with a head reminiscent of an axehound but with solid silver eyes.[2] Chiri-Chiri eats Stormlight by perching on or hovering over an infused sphere and sucking the light out in a stream. She can also eat Voidlight. Rysn has to keep a close eye on her or she will sneakily eat the light from the spheres Rysn relies on for light or to power her fabrials. When she's not eating, she likes to nap in Rysn's pot of grass and to perch on the lintel above the door. However, if the need arises, she is also protective of Rysn. Chiri-Chiri makes a variety of clicking noises with her jaw to communicate.[1]

I think the faces are of the people observing it, and that is why everyone feels a bit woozy (I forget the exact words used) - It is sucking part of their Identity away, or maybe feeding on it. Not enough to harm the locals, but enough so they feel it. Maybe even sucking Stormlight out of their spiritual web.
