  3. Chapter 1 The Awakening Pain. That was the first sign that he was alive, well other than his breathing. His head hurt as if someone had hit him in the head with a particularly large hammer. Though on second thought that would have been impossible as his skull would have been cracked and- time to move on. He opened his eye and immediately regretted the action. Sunlight made his eye hurt and his head ache more that it already did. He groaned and sat up. Who am I? he though. A name bubbled up into his mind. Sahin. That is who I am. No last name surfaced. He sighed. Apparently he didn't own a last name. Bother he would jsut have to come up with one on his own. Then something occurred to him, stopping all thoughts. He reached up and touched his face, specifically where his other eye would have been. Sahin instead touched a pointed metal spike. He reached to yank it out but reconsidered as a small inside voice spoke to him. That is your life line pal. it said. When doing so he noticed and odd symbol tattooed to the back of his palm. Three interlocking diamonds. Another memory stirred bringing up another word. Ghostbloods A voice interrupted his thoughts. "So your back?" The voice said. "Almighty help us all that you have returned. What fate has in store you I wonder." He looked to the speaker and noted his odd looking body which seemed to be make up of some odd insects. These bugs solidified into a man. "Was I really that bad?" Sahin asked. "You don't remember?" "My memory is a bit hazy at the moment." "That must be due to the Hemalurgy degrading process." The man muttered. "What?" Sahin puzzled. "Nothing, nothing. I am interested in what part you will play." The man burst into the insects he saw before. He opened his mouth to say something then closed it as he watched the creatures scuttle away. Disregarding the strange conversation with the bug man, Sahin turned his attention back to himself. He wore a tattered set of clothes and a matching ripped cloak. A broken mask lay in pieces not to far away. Must have been mine he deduced as he could only see one eye hole from the pieces before him. He wore a belt with little holders for glass vials. There were a few that were still full and unbroken. Though he did not unstop one to drink it. "Well," He said to himself. "Time to get off this wretched barren island." With that he started to walk with no particiular destination in mind. He just knew he he had to get off this forsaken island if he wanted to live. Little did he know, Sahin Vandre was really Solace First. A deadly assassin, a scheming mastermind, and evil to the core.

  5. I’m thinking the third sibling is stone-themed. The way that nightwatcher is about life and plants, stormfather is about the wind and skies, I think the third sibling is about the stone. A couple of reasons: the shin worship stone. We know now the Shin are a more pure lineage from the original humans that arrived on Roshar, nestled in a little pocket of terrain made for them that was more akin to their homeworld. and they have their own unique religion that has a reverence toward stone being sacred. Having a major spren (like one of the Siblings) being about the stone would make sense to capture the religious focus of the Shin to worship it. the Stormfather did that for the rest of humanity with the highstorms which we know don’t reach the Shin. Plus, Szeth’s oathstone. What if it’s more than his loyalty and discipline to obey the holder of that stone. what if it’s more about the fact it has something to do with their deity being all about the stone. And it being a spren that tries to inspire men to keep oaths just like Stormfather. Thoughts?

  6. Hopefully you got the fly! I will admit a drawing would be cool.. But I totally get it! how about a hug? You guys are awesome on this forum. I was having a rough night (rough month to be exact) and when I got on here it's all positive. Makes my heart happy! Ps I hope your friend is doing ok. And that you attempt to convert him to a sanderfan is successful

  11. *An hour later* I just realized 3 things. 1. How do people know Arachnerd's name? 2. Does anyone else find it funny that the creator of Doctor Funtimes is named TwilyghtSANSsparkles? 3. Montgomery Montgomery from the series of unfortunate events is named MONTY and studies SNAKES? He must secretly be a Monty Python cameo!

  16. I could see the Vorin church supporting Taravangian over Dalinar without realizing that Taravangian is working with/for Odium. If they knew about Taravangian's allegiance than... Anyone who's Vorin and not Dalinar would probably work for them. Totally agree with you about Dalinar's political skills although in all fairness Dalinar does admit he's bad at the art...

  17. Pagerunner asked Brandon a question in an AMA on a Sunday. As he eagerly awaited the answer, Brandon told him, "I will reply to your question some day this week. But I will not tell you on which day I will reply, so when I do, it will come as a complete surprise to you." Pagerunner began to ponder what Brandon had said. If Saturday arrived, and Brandon had not yet answered his question, then he would know that Brandon could only reply later that Saturday, and the answer would not come as a surprise to him. Therefore, Pagerunner knew that Brandon would not respond to him on Saturday. But if Friday arrived, then there would only be two days left for Brandon to reply. Having already eliminated Saturday as a possibility, then he would know that Brandon could only reply later that Friday, and the answer would not come as a surprise to him. Therefore, Pagerunner knew that Brandon would not respond to him on Friday. In a similar fashion, Pagerunner eliminated Thursday, then Wednesday, then Tuesday, then Monday, and last of all Sunday. With no days remaining where Brandon could answer his question, Pagerunner dejectedly closed out of the AMA, saddened that he would never receive his answer. And on Wednesday, when Brandon replied to Pagerunner's question, it came as a complete surprise to him.

  18. Aesudan should count. "I'm going to swallow this gemstone that, if I don't choke on it, will either turn me into a freak of nature, or kill me anyway!" Amaram should be right behind her for that, actually.

  19. I think yall are taking explanation of Darwin Award wrong. A Darwin Award goes to someone who dies a stupid death, because of their own stupidity (i.e., walking across the (busy) street without looking both ways at o'dark thirty in the morning, when it is foggy, while wearing navy blue). The death itself is not necessarily stupid. Also, I would nominate Sadeas for a Darwin Award, b/c taunting someone who hates you while there are no witnesses, in an unexplored area of tunnels, is dumb.

  21. Hey guys I was just thinking what if events turn such as kaladin becomes Odium's champion. He will not have to break any oath to do so as he will not be fighting anyone who cannot protect himself and also if fourth ideal is to leave those whom you cannot protect or to forgive yourself then what if he decides that there is no hope for human to survive and joins Odium's to protect parshendi and he will have to fight Seth in contest of champions, also Brandon have a thing for doing what is most unlikely so maybe. So, what do you guys think.

  24. It's definitely ironic in hindsight, even though I'd been using that username years before Doctor Funtimes existed. See, when I was ~14-15, I started using the name TwiLyght. Unfortunately, just a couple years later, the Twilight books became popular. I did not like the books at all, but when I used the name TwiLyght on a site that hosted Twilight sporkings and criticism, I got crem from both members and mods. So I added the SansSparkles to avoid any confusion and it just stuck. ….I did not realize this until you mentioned it but now I love his character even more than I already did.

Has anyone else finished all the books? If you have, what theories do you have for future books? I have a few and I think it would be fun to converse with you all!

  27. Mac stepped back from the action, and walked quietly into an alley while thinking about how to make his disguise better. I mean, if someone could see through it from the inside of a fiend, then it definitely needs some improvement. Once hidden in the shadows of an alley he warped to a spot near the duel. Hidden in the shadows, he waited for the duel to start. After a few minutes, he decided to try something new. He took a needle sized spike from his suit, and placed it in his throat. He then proceeded to make chirping sounds like a cricket.

  32. I think that, in general, Rayse would not be someone that I would normally trust. However, Rayse as Odium is bound to any agreements he intentionally makes, due to his nature as a Shard, so I would trust him on that count. Whatever his Intent is in making pact, he is bound to.

  33. I like Threnody as a source or inspiration for the organization. Secret History left me feeling like the Shades are a much bigger deal in the Cosmere than Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell suggests, so approaching this idea from a very different - and distant - direction might pay for itself a decade or two down the line.

  42. I had the opportunity to listen to the Graphic Audio of Warbreaker recently (HIGHLY recommend them, if you have the chance, the full cast and production is a wonderful experience), and I noticed something about Lightsong that stood out but was never really addressed: Lightsong is unwholesomely Lucky. At one point Lightsong is playing a game called Tarachin with the other Gods, a game described as "one of the most difficult games in the world" because it required both great physical ability as well as layered strategy. Lightsong, being awesome, never bothered to learn the rules and instead just likes to choose and throw the balls randomly, yet he always manages to do better than the avid players. So there he is, musing about how the different Gods get slightly different forms, how they all seem to get more or less the same Godlike physique but unfortunately there's no guarantee of any increased intelligence. Meanwhile he's throwing balls over his shoulder and winning at a game he doesnt understand all the while wishing he knew enough to be able to loose on purpose. Here's the thing, we know that the Returned's physical attributes get way more Fluid, reflecting more of what they Believe they should be rather than their inborn reality (and this can be consciously manipulated with training). Most got Young and Huge and Physically Impressive, at least one got Old and Wise because she believed in that godly image. But Lightsong never really believed in his own Divinity, and I think that deep down he believed that all the Returned were just People Who Got Lucky. In light of his performance on the Tarachin Field, I think Lightsong was actually Augmenting his Fortune attribute. And if Returned are indeed influencing their spiritual Attributes as well as physical, there's every possibility that they could learn to consciously manipulate those attributes the same way Vasher (or the Royal locks line) can willfully control the physical portions of their Spirit-web. Given how the Breaths work by sort of merging with (or overlaying on) the Spiritweb, it would make logical sense that it would be positioned to subtly manipulate it, and Breaths respond to Intent/Commands directly more than a lot of Investiture types.

  45. I don’t know if he will have a lasting historical legacy as a king. It depends on how history is written. Humanity won the war against the Parshendi and discovered a new Desolation during his reign, so that might be something he is, at least partly credited for. I think his most important legacy will be with Gavinor and Kaladin, ironically. Kaladin was the one who really got to see him try, and I think that affects him. He won’t forget Elhokar.

  48. As we all know "There's a big difference between mostly dead and all dead." On the topic of dead spren didn't anyone find it weird that the spren's eyes were scratched out and when you kill someone with a shardblade their eyes burn? Is it the spren imitating what happens to humans in the physical realm o something else? Eyes are windows to the soul after all, so does that mean the line between a spren's spiritual realm is broken?
