  2. So while reading through Way of Kings again, I devised two theories, and would love some input: Thought number 1: Spren make up shardblades once the surgebinders have said the right words. In Dalinar's visions, the Radiants also have plate, but Szeth has said he can't wear plate or it will effect his powers. I believe, once more words have been said, the Spren will also be able to make up plate, eventually uniting man with Spren. Thought number 2: During an interlude chapter in The Way of Kings, we find out that spren, once measured and written down, cannot change that measurement. What if, someone, during the day of Recreance, the spren that made up the knghts Radiants Plate and Blades were somehow measured, freezing them in their current state. The Knights Radiants could no longer hear or interact with their spren, probably even suffering from touching them, as Kaladin would suffer touching a shardblade, and this is why the abandoned them. Also, now frozen, regular men could use them. If this is true, I am thinking a major plot of the series will be to rescue these spren. To find where they have been recorded, and erase that, freeing all trapped spren in the Plates and Blades, perhaps allowing even more members to join the Knights Radiant.

  4. LG32: Day Six - Action Remart was unsurprisingly, eating. It was a nice dish consisting of mostly steak, with some mashed potatoes and gravy. Was it delicious? Well, seeing as it was made by the Chefs of Fadrex, it was only the best steak Remart had ever eaten. However, the one thing Remart needed most to truly make this a good night? Company. And in a stroke of good luck, there was someone willing to chat and eat with Remart! They ordered the fish pie though, so they definitely went down a few points on the score-list of ‘People That Remart Would Talk To And Not Eat’™. Remart naturally discussed many things about food or drink or the food industry or anything involving food really, but eventually he let his companion steer the conversation. “So Remart, what’s your thoughts on the recent deaths?” “Uh, that’s a hard question to answer, mister. I mean, obviously they’re bad and all, but at the same time what can we do?” “Well, I personally believe that everyone can do something, but whether it’s helpful or not is really the question.” “Um, sure?” “Why Remart, that’s why I’m here. You see, I think that you might be involved in the recent murders, and I’m willing to bet your life on it.” As he said this, Remart was just finishing off his steak knife. He was also getting quite worried, but he was mostly focused on finishing his Steak. However, as he was taking a bite, his knife suddenly took a plunge into his throat. Understandably, Remart was now struggling to both breathe and finish his steak, as anyone would with a steak knife lodged in their throat, while your previously amicable companion finishes off the fish pie and doesn’t panic whatsoever. “Oh well, it seems like you’ve lost your ability to respond. A shame that, you were certainly knowledgeable about food, but not about death. I hope I’ll be able to find your comrades, friend.” And with that, Remart’s mysterious companion left, never to be seen by Remart again. Oh, and in some other place this guy called Meta was stabbed but he won’t get a write-up ‘cause he’s inactive. Meta was killed! He was a Village Pewterarm. Jondesu was killed! 6. I'm not an expert, but I believe the original iteration of This forum was made somewhere in-between the release of Hero of Ages and The Gathering Storm. The core and founders of the 17th shard came from a subset of a different forum. The Mistborn Inquisition RP site was still a big deal back then. The Coppermind Wiki was started some time later. For a better understanding of the history older members like Quiver, Kurkistan were around then ish. Chaos, Rubix, and other staff members have been on since the beginning obviously. I joined around the release of Alloy of Law, when the cosmere was really starting to open up. We had found out about the Shards and Hoid by that point obviously, but our WoB library was still shallow and we didn't have as many books as we do now. Most of our WoB gathering and theorizing were about very functional parts of the magic or lore, and not so much about the grand scheme of the cosmere I think. The Only Joe and Del joined close to the same time as I did. Kobold a few months later I think, or maybe a month earlier. Too lazy to look it up. If I remember correctly, Delightful, Twilyght, and Kaymyth didn't join for quiet a while after that. The beginning of the more casual parts of the forums becoming Very active was when Queen Elsa joined, had an introduction thread that ran in excess of twenty pages, and than formed the Newcago Court. The formation of the Newcago court allowed for much more lighthearted and less strict roleplaying that SE allows, and encouraged other guilds to form, culminating in the ultimate showdowns between Chaos's Lords of Chaos and the Newcago Court, primarily led by Elsa and I, although Joe and Quiver among others were prominant players. The guilds continued, and more and more and more started popping up. The Dark Alley, first founded by Kurk and Swimmingly, but inherited by Voidus hasn't changed much from those days. Many of the roleplayers got tired with running around in circles in the guild halls, and started the Rechoners RP. Kobold King was instrumental to this, but as I wasn't terribly active over there I can't give a good history of it. Somewhere between the guildwars and Reckoner's RPing, the game threads started to hit it big with Nightwatcher, Eastern Street Slang, and several others. When I introduced the Hurt'n'Heal game to the forum it exploded in popularity faster than anything except perhaps the Reckoners RP, but than fell off, and has since gone through one, maybe two revivals. With Reckoners came the era of the Pony. *Shudders* Those were dark days. EVERYONE was being ponified. It was very scary. The discussion threads like Random Stuff, Bad day/Good Day, and the others got established and I think really helped keep many members engaged when they got bored with other sections of the forums. Unfortunately, others like Swimmingly and Queery retired. Many of the early staff who were less active let newer more active members take much of the responsibility for moderating. Reputation points were probably flowing fastest at this point, but there was also quiet a lot of wasted time spent on discussions about upvotes/downvotes, largely due to accidental downvotes being impossible to get rid of. The most prominant current members were starting to emerge as very popular and influential posters, and second tier prominance members were joining. Basically, nothing outrageously interesting happened until the big update in the forum. *realizes that no one asked for what is probably a pretty garbled and narrow view of the history of the shard* *Meh, who cares.*

  7. Well, hello. I'm fairly new, as obvious as that may be. I just wanted to come have a look see at some fellow fan creators and share some of my own as well. I don't have oodles, but please accept my humble offerings to these majestic worlds. I've probably spent the most time doodling out Szeth...so, I guess, for now we can start with him? It's all trial and error. We will see how this all goes as the addiction grows.

  13. I am new to the board and wanted to know if the following topic has been discussed (reference would be great). If not I'd like to get people's feelings about it. After reading Words of Radiance and having learned what I have about Nale. It seems to me that it is wholly out of his character for him to have participated in the breaking of the Oath Pact. How could someone, who reveres the letter of the law so much and holds Szeth's adherence to his oaths in such high regard, agree to break the Oath Pact? Nale is dogmatic about laws and by his interpretation...justice. He sees things in black and white. I hope BS addresses Nale's rationale for walking away from his oath. I understand that Taln's death may have kept the Oath Pact intact at the end of the last desolation but I am curious how Nale rationalized walking away. It simply seems inconsistent.

I also like to draw, and though I'm not very good at it, I try my hardest. If anyone out there has any tips, they would be very welcome. Thanks!

  20. Presumable Brandon has, but it hasn't been explicitly stated. Probably the next closest is Khriss' small blurb about combining powers in the Ars Arcanum of Shadows of Self or Bands of Mourning. However, since you seem to be attacking so hard, I'll clarify and correct myself. "Technical definition" was an incorrect term to use I guess, since it implies a precision which we have not been given. However, under what is generally understood to be the canon definition of the term resonances, it does not encompass nuances in how the powers are used, but rather an external effect which can indirectly affect the usage of the powers.

  24. Adhesion sticks enemies to floors. Gravitation allows one to fly. Division cuts things BLOWS THINGS UP at range. Abrasion makes you impossible to hold. Progression heals allies, or allows you to change the battlefield to your liking. Illumination can project decoys, or cause the opponent to misstep. Transformation can one-shot opponents. Transportation is basically teleportation. Cohesion allows one to tear things apart with your bare hands. Tension turns all your opponents' weapons into pool noodles. All those sound pretty useful in battle.

  25. This is all really interesting. But I have this recommendation: Remember Brandon's 2nd Law! The powers of a magic system are less interesting than its limits. The whole ghost-possession system would be a lot more interesting if it had more limits and constrictions. It seems a little absurd that people would just trust ghosts to obey the rules -- especially if ghosts once took over the world. That would probably make people a little jaded. So why not say that we DO have some leverage over the ghosts? And I think there are two good ways to do that. First, like Edgedancer said, there really should be a litmus test. Some simple test we can perform to identify a possessed person. Maybe it's a scanning device, like the Voight-Kampff machine. Maybe it's a substance that glows on contact with possessed people. Maybe it's a oijaa board. The point is that possessed people can be identified and dealt with. And, of course, important politicians and military leaders are given this test every day. That'll provide a sense of security for everyone involved -- and, more importantly, it sets up an epic twist: Someone's figured out a way to fool the test! Secutity? Gone. Stakes? Raised. All bets? Off. Second, there should probably be a way to either kill or imprison these ghosts. That way, the ghost characters will have something to lose -- stakes! -- which makes them more interesting. Also, if ghosts can't be killed or imprisoned, then the worldwide ghost population will only go up, and every ghost that ever lived will still be hanging around, complicating the story, including those ghosts that took over the world. (Which would also make a pretty cool twist: we thought the evil tyrant ghosts were all captured and executed, but one of them escaped, and he's been stalking the world ever since! And he's been every great villain of the last century!) (Also, on a more general note, there are certain questions you have to deal with whenever ghosts are involved. Aside from abstract values like morality and patriotism, what motivation does a ghost have? What do they want? What do they have to gain? Can they eventually move on to the afterlife like regular dead folk? Or is the life of a ghost basically just eternity in Limbo?)

  28. I'm extremely shy about my writing, but I'd like to share something--partially to talk it out with myself, and partially to get feedback. In my story, magic used by humans comes from titans (name is WIP), which humans think are gods. When a titan dies, its energy is dispersed into the world around it, and it leaks from the Rift (also WIP), which is a hidden shadowland where the titans and other magical beings reside. Humans who are sensitive to the dead titan's energy can use magic in two main ways: 1. Those who are sensitive to but not conscious of it just let the magic flow through them without knowing what's happening. These are mostly clairants (people whose intuition and spiritual connectedness is enhanced to a level of clairvoyance/clairaudience/clairsentience, etc), and empaths (people who can sense and slightly manipulate the emotions of other people). 2. Those who are highly sensitive to the dead titan's magic and who are also conscious of it have the ability to store it in their body and use it for more physical purposes, though they may have some of the passive traits of clairants and/or empaths as well. These people are called shadowlings, and for the most part they're very rare. Keeping and using the titan's magic for extended periods of time will deteriorate the user's humanity and/or sanity, however, and the more powerful a human becomes through exploring the new abilities, the more his/her physiology changes. Titan magic will eventually turn someone into a titan-like creature if used too long, without any trace of humanity left. This process can be slowed significantly, however, if the shadowling learns how to link to other humans. Linking to people, especially in large crowds, can be a sort of outlet to let some of the magic flow through the clairants and empaths (as it doesn't change them). Some of them call it grounding themselves. They can also steal energy from people--if someone is dreaming in R.E.M. sleep, for example, a shadowling can link to that person and essentially eat the dream, siphoning the benefits of the R.E.M. sleep so he/she can feel rested for longer periods of time. The shadowlings can see tears in the Rift and enter into them, as well, but spending time in the Rift accelerates the transformation into a titan creature. In my story, the shadowlings are noticing a huge surge of magic and many are being killed off because they don't know how to use their magic and they're changing too quickly, scaring the public. This means that titans are dying, so something in the Rift is killing them off suddenly. To save themselves the shadowlings have to find what's killing the titans and put an end to it, before the rest of the humans kill them first. Sorry that was so long-winded!

  29. Exactly. I have no doubt that the titular Lost Metal is NOT atium, exactly because there is a blank display on a pedestal in the Museum of the World of Ash or whatever it was calling Atium "the lost metal". If Rule #1 is "there's always another secret", that means Rule #0 is "if it looks like a secret (to the characters) has been openly spilled (to the reader) in the title, think again".

  34. Just to emphasise to my Ardent friends out there, I don't predict the future! I study the past, I find patterns, I do complicated mathematical modeling and check models against past data, then apply my models to the most recent data to work out how much of a gap there would normally be between the most recent highstorm and the following one, adjusting for seasonal variations and current conditions. But predicting the future? No. That's a disgusting habit.

For one, the Dark Alley does not think itself creepy, as with of our hemalurgic testing and constructs baking, we should be downright horrifying. And the Oregoners are more properly a group of people who do some Reckoners (not Rithmatist) RP. People wanted to do a Reckoner's RP, and since according to what is in the books, it ends up being pretty much obliterated. Since nobody wanted to have to bring in things from the book, any more than the fact that there are epics and its set in that universe, they chose Oregon as the place for the RP, as it all will get destroyed anyways. More precisely, they have several cities/towns each with their own thread in which most of the actual RP occurs. People just write up a lot of stuff in there, using both regular people and Epics. ... EDIT: Just realized as I had posted that there was another page with post already on it about this... Welp I got double ninja-ed... Anyways @Firerust the Terris Gyorn There are plenty of places that can tell you more about this if need be.

  41. I believe that the shattering of Honor had less to do with something Odium did and more to do with the Oathpact, either done intentionally by Honor (possibly to trap Odium) or as a result of the Heralds refusing to leave Roshar at the end of the last desolation. I think that the emerging KR believe their cause is just, however our new KR will eventually learn the same "dark secret" that caused the original KR to give up their shards and to abandon their oaths at the Recreance. I think this may be related to the shattering of Honor, or to Honor's real motives for investing in the Heralds/KR in the first place. I also do not believe that Odium is the end all, be all bad guy in the Cosmere, but is a red herring for the greater problem Sazed shows Wax (represented by a red haze attempting to attack Scadrial).

  42. Today was a relatively quiet day in the Restaurant at the End of the Cosmere. Most of the usual people were here, nursing their drinks, talking in quiet tones. They were all worldhoppers, of course. Drawn from all the corners of the Cosmere: Sel, Scadrial, Roshar, Nalthis, Taldain and Threnody. Rosharan heat fabrials warmed the restaurant, while the walls had been tastefully decorated by a native of Nalthis with the Fifth Heightening, so it looked aesthetically pleasing from almost any angle. The floors were plain tile, and at a corner was a Scadrialian machine that played music, operated by a sleepy Scadrilian armed with a bandolier of medallions. The machine only played Scadrilian music, which often annoyed the Nalthis worldhoppers with the second Heightening, but it was tolerated. There was a shining pool outside the entrance, which many worldhoppers used to get here from the Physical Realm. The bartender was always there, greeting newcomers, catching up on news, serving drinks. Only very few of the patrons knew who he truly was, and they weren’t telling. (Yes of course Khriss knows). A sign on the wall stated the rules of the Restaurant. Brawling of any kind is prohibited, either with Awakened Objects, Allomancy, Feruchemy, Hemalurgy, Surgebinding, AonDor, Soulforging, Sand Mastery or plain physical brawling No interplanetary warmongering Be nice to each other. No Hoid. At one table, some of the Seventeenth Shard were grumbling over their drinks about their long drawn-out and futile search for that impossible, thrice-cursed Hoid. They had been joined by a new member, Wan ShaiLu from Sel, whom Galladon had apparently recruited when she showed up in Elantris. She was cursing his name very creatively indeed. They had just come from Roshar, intending to go to Nalthis next. (The King’s Wit was probably laughing very hard indeed all the way in Roshar.) Kelsier sat in a far corner, (Without Marsh today, thankfully) nursing his metal-sprinkled ale. (You had to specify which world’s ale you were ordering, or you might end up with Selish Connection drinks, which made you want to draw for hours, or Rosharan Horneater Ale, which could melt cups.) Being a Cognitive Shadow rather than a physical being inside the Cognitive Realm, he didn’t actually need to drink, but he liked to keep up the pretense. Besides, he liked having Demoux worship him whenever he walked in, which often caused Seventeenth Shard meetings to be delayed. Mostly he sat, absorbing the gossip from all around the Cosmere, always grinning at people at seeming like he was formulating some dark, deep plot. At another end, Khriss was scribbling down her latest thoughts on life, the universe, and everything. Alternately, she could be writing her next Ars Arcana, having just visited Sel. Kenton half dozed beside her. Nazh was doodling Aons on a piece of parchment, thankful for the break. There had been a particularly hasty escape when Nazh had tried to study a naked Dakhor monk at Khriss’ request. She owed him a drink for that one. And there were the Kandra, of course. Mysterious group, they tended to keep to themselves when they visited the restaurant. They never stayed long, only coming in for a short drink before going to whatever Shardworld Harmony was currently showing an interest in. They tended to switch back to their natural forms inside the restaurant, which freaked people out, of course. That’s probably why no one knew their names yet despite them having frequented the bar for years. Vasher had dropped in for another visit in between his trips from Nalthis to Roshar. As per usual, he had a large pile of empty mugs beside him and was currently holding another pint of ale. Vivenna sat beside him, primly reading a book. Blessedly, Nightblood was nowhere to be seen. Iyatil was back, taking Mraize for another spot of Worldhopping. They had just visited Scadrial, and apparently were due for a visit to Threnody, seeing as how Mraize had been bartering for silver knives at the restuarant’s small merchandise stall. Silver was always in good stock in the restaurant, seeing as how nobody wanted their drinks interrupted by a bunch of red-eyed cognitive shadows. The restaurant filled with a quiet, content hum. News flashed relatively quickly through the Worldhopper community. A plot on Scadrial, Harmony facing a red mist. Kandra quietly inquiring after ‘Trell’. Roshar was a dangerous place to be in, currently, due to the Everstorm coming. Business as usual in Sel and Nalthis. On another note, Joshin and Mi’chelle were settling in nicely at Scadrial. Congratulations all around. The bell rang hesitantly, and a ragged figure entered. Her dress was tattered, and hemmed at the knees. She had a glove made of the same material as her dress on her left hand. She was tall, regal, although looking much the worse for wear. She had violet eyes and was currently holding a rather large Shardblade. Rosharian. She blinked, taking in the scene before her. The other worldhoppers barely spared her a glance before returning to their respective conversations. The bartender smiled and waved her over to an empty table. Jasnah Kholin blinked again. “I’m at a bar,” she stated in her flattest voice, “In the middle of the Shadesmar.” Only Vivenna stood to welcome her, shooting an exasperated glance at an inebriated Vasher. “Hello, stranger. 43. Yes, Dalinar's visions are from the Stormfather and yes, it's likely that Gavilar got the same ones. Which... brings me to my little personal working theory, which I didn't have enough evidence to put up in the main post. You know what I think Renarin's visions really are? I think they're very possibly from Odium. See, there's a bit of follow up on that WoB. After I asked my questions about Ren's visions being involuntary and if they were surgebinding, Brandon turned around and said this: Brandon: Okay, can I ask you a question? Feather: Yes... okay? Brandon: Do you remember what Vorinism thinks of seeing the future? Feather: Yes! They think it's evil, of Odium. Hence why I was asking in the first place! I'm very concerned. Brandon: *laughs* Of course, the idea that my baby has been hijacked by Odium is completely horrifying to me, especially because it means that this fic of mine is just that much more plausible. AUGH. Shroom has similar thoughts about Surgebinding quirks, so I'll answer that below. As for the Nightwatcher, I'd be very surprised if that were the case. You have to be able to ask the Nightwatcher for things yourself, which I think rules out the possibility of him being so young he can't remember. Also, who would take him that far? Why would anyone bring a tiny child halfway across the continent to ask for a boon/curse? Okay, so my thing about Surgebinding quirks and power combos is this: I think it's plausible that Truthwatchers have a power quirk, but I can't believe that their "quirk" would be something as devastating and powerful as all-consuming visions which overwrite their users' free will. Not with what we've seen of Regrowth and Illumination so far. Now, I won't write off the possibility that maybe the Truthwatcher quirk is involved here. Maybe whatever's behind the visions managed to get to Renarin because he has some Seer abilities as a Truthwatcher? He was the easiest conduit because he's one who "sees"? I think that's actually really plausible.Maybe his quirk power is tapping into something. Or being exploited by something. Maybe one of the Unmade. Maybe, as I kind of am growing fond of believing, Odium himself. But I refuse to believe that the visions as we've seen them so far are a natural and normal expression of Truthwatcher abilities. I can't believe that the involuntary, compulsive nature of them could be explained by Surgebinding alone. It doesn't line up with what we know of Surgebinding.

  44. Shakespeare Szene: Kaladin (in clothes that more resemble 16th century british clothes than bridgeman uniform), at his feet dying Maps (clothed similar, but with less gold to make sure nobody mistakes him for bridge captain) with a spear of an arrow (to make sure people see how maps died) in him; background: a painting of the shattered plains with the alethi warcamps on the left and Narak on the right with two chasmfiends in between. Syl: A girl in a long blue and white dress in the background, stands on a ladder to show that she is flying. (Szene-sized) Bridge and up to four bridgemen around it. Maps: This wondrous world was shattered! And rocks, oh rocks! rocks! rocks! they trembled with their stepping! and stones to heavens reached! from cursed lands! And death! and death comes upon us! (dies) Kaladin He died! Another friend has passed. No honor left! Oh cruel world! And I am cursed! (Monologue over several pages with the three previous lines as a brief summary; also including half of his back-story, two flashbacks, his hate to lighteyes, something about Tiens death and a vengeance promise to Amaram) I blame Sadeas! Syl Be silent! There he comes! Kaladin, Bridgemen (with bridge) and Syl leaving, Sadeas and Dalinar coming. Both wearing Paper-Shardplate, Dalinar with a massive Shardblade behind his back, Sadeas with a big gemheart in his hands. Both followed by their armies, Adolin in the background. Sadeas We shattered them. The day is ours! So let us have a feast for victory and glory! Dalinar So many dead. I ask thee, my dear friend, is this war worth this many losses? Sadeas Men always die in war. And dont forget thy brother's death! The murderer was sent by them! Doest thou forget what sworn we us then in his blood? We sworn, that we will fight until no Parshendi will live to kill his son! Dalinar And still. We fight now for so long And victory is far,we are divided. The way of Kings... Sadeas ...don't name this book. Thy brother lost his will while reading it The blackthorn shall not follow him. NOTE: Parshendi has to be pronounced lik par-shen-DI to fit in.

  45. I did, in fact, just log in to share my JRR Tolkien / Sanderson mash-up. I feel there is room for more than one - as awesome as yours is: JRR Tolkien: Kaladin peered out from behind the slate-grey rock. The Parshuk-Hai appeared to be retreating. He could no longer see their fell helms printed with the fell white hand of S-odium. "I think they've gone," he whispered, sinking back in exhaustion. "Oi think you're right, Mr Kaladin, sir", whispered Teftwise from beside him. "We're nearly at the chasm of Doom. Let's go Mr Kaladin, sir." "I can't Teftwise, I can't. I'm exhausted - this quest is too hard for me. I've failed, Teftwise. I always fail." "No you haven't Mr Kaladin, sir. Oi might not be able to carry that stormlight-infused, gem encrusted instrument of evil for you - but I CAN carry you!" Shifting his bridge to his left shoulder, Teftwise hefted his limp master onto his right and set off on sturdy, hairy feet up the fell mountain leading to the chasm of Doom. *** "We're here, Mr Kaladin sir", muttered Teftwise, peering gingerly into the broiling lava beneath them, "We've done it." "No Teftwise. I won't do it. The ring is mine. I deserve it, I have suffered greatly, people have died - all the people have died and its all my fault. That makes me sad and angry and I deserve a present. The ring is mine". Teftwise had never seen his master look like this before; his face leered as he waved the ring aloft and stepped away from the edge of the fell chasm. "A-r-gggh", screamed Kaladin, as a shardblade severed his finger. "Szollum". A pair of large, childlike eyes gleamed behind the giant blade, wielded by the spiderlike creature in a billowing white loincloth. "Stinker," screamed Teftwise, swinging his frying pan wildly at the fell assassin causing him to drop his blade which vanished. "My precious", crooned Szollum, cradling Kaladin's ring-adorned finger. "You Truthless Bridgehobbits stole my precious. It's mine, mine." Stepping backwards, he waved the bloodied finger and teetered on the edge of the precipice as Teftwise, enraged by the hurt done to his master, lifted his bridge and rammed the fell creature into the lava beneath. "We did it, Mr Kaladin, sir", Teftwise yelled crawling towards his master who was lying on the floor, cradling his bloodied hand and attempting to regrow his finger despite the absence of any stormlight. "Let's go home." "No, Teftwise. We can't. See how the land begins to shake. This land belongs to S-odium and, as he falls, so do the rocks. We have saved the Roshire - but not for us. It ends here for us - here at the end of all things." Kaladin lay back, exhausted. "Well, if this the end, Mr Kaladin-sir, it don't seem right to end without a song to mark the occasion" and planting his brave, hairy hobbit-foot on the fell rocks, he began to sing: . . . . Much rustling of pages and sounds of desperate thumbing as thousands [tens] of readers skip the song to the refrain of "Not a song. For the love of Stormlight, not a song, please" . . . As Teftwise finished the 427th verse, he heard the chitinous sound of a chasmfiend apporaching. "Mr Kaladin-sir, we're saved. Look it's Gandalinor, on the back of a chasmfiend. The fiends, they've come to rescue us." "So, they have Teftwise, so they have." Fade to black, in preparation for the twenty 'final' goodbye scenes. (With apologies to anyone who doesn't skip the "epic poetry" in a Tolkien novel. You are a better person that I!)
