  1. So, I was wondering if, given all the positive feedback I got when I drew Funtimes, maybe I should start a thing where I draw other people's OCs for practice. Sort of like commissions, but the instead of paying money, you just have to be willing to wait for however long it takes me. Would there be any interest for that?

  2. GM - AliasSheep Co-GM - Doc12 Smith slunk down the dark corridor, back against the wall, gun held in front of him. He was close now, he knew it. He could feel it in his blood. 15 years he had been tracking them, and now, he was going to find out, once and for all. He peeked around the corner. They were there, talking in hushed tones. “Smith knows.” “He shouldn’t be too hard to handle.” Peter. It was Peter. “Put in the call now.” The call? To whom? “Hello, chief. It’s Smith.” Him? That couldn’t be. What was Peter saying? He was the vole. He stepped out from behind the corner. “What are you talking about Peter?” Peter turned around, and pulled a pistol from his belt. “Smith, what a surprise seeing you here.” Smith’s eyes flicked from Peter to the other man, who was slowly moving up the corridor, his own gun drawn. “Stop moving. Drop your guns.” “Now Smith, why would we ever do that? You see, chief, threatening me, my colleague. He is obviously the traitor.” “No, Peter, you’re the traitor! The vole! I’ve been tracking you for years, I know it’s you.” “See, chief, he’s delusion. Barely functioning. Permission to take him out?” Peter raised his pistol towards Smith and then nodded to the other man. Three guns fired in a loud cacophony and all went black. --- *click* The agency has been infiltrated by Double Agents and it is up to you to work together with your fellow agents to find and eliminate them. Good luck, agent. *click* Rules Miscellaneous Each person starts with two PMs, each containing themself and another player, the links determined by RNG. Cycles are 24 hours long. Game-related is defined as "A post that causes or replies to Discussion and/or Mentions a Game Role.” Thread The main thread is solely for information from the GM which is shared with all players which includes write-ups, and if anyone wants to, RP. This means that there should be no game related talk in the thread. Write-ups Information included in the writeups will be: Who is lynched Who has been removed by the inactivity filter Missives Missives Every cycle, every player can write up to 100 words and submit it to the GM as their missive. The missives are then posted together in the following write-up, anonymously. Roles “Coffee” Roleless. “Contacts” Once per cycle, you can create a new PM between two players, one of which may be yourself, provided they are two different players. The PM will be created at the beginning of the next cycle. “C” Once per cycle, you can redirect someone’s PM to another player of your choosing, provided it isn’t the same player. You must specify both the player whose PM you want to direct and to whom you want the PM to be directed. “The Bureaucrat” Once per cycle, you can cut off one of a person’s PMs for the next cycle. If The Bureaucrat can name the recipient of the PM they want to be cut off, then that PM will be cut off, elsewise it is random. This counts as cutting off the Double Agents’ contact. “The Hacker” Once per cycle, you will have relayed to you all the messages exchanged in one of the PMs of the person you choose for the following cycle. Similarly to the Bureaucrat, if The Hacker can name the recipient they can select them, elsewise it is random. If the Hacker does make a guess, they are not told if they guessed correctly. You will not be told the second member in the PM, and the PM will be selected randomly. Order of Operations Voting Hacking PM removal PM addition Factions Spies The Spies make up the majority of players. Their job is to eliminate all the Double Agents by removing them from the agency. Once per cycle, every agent can cast a vote on who to kick out of the agency. This vote is cast by telling the GM who the agent would like to vote for. Whoever has the most votes, with a minimum of two votes, is sacked (removed from the game). In the case of a tie, the a coin/dice is tossed/rolled to determine who is sacked. Double Agents The Double Agents’ objective is to have at least one PM with all remaining players between them. They achieve this by using their Faction action, which allows them each cycle, to create a new PM between one of their members and another player. The Double Agents all have a doc to discuss in. The Double agents have a second win con, wherein if there are no more players other than Double Agents left in the game, the Double agents win. If at any time no Double Agent has a PM with a non-double Agent, the Double Agents lose the game. Inactivity Filter If an agent is inactive for an entire cycle, they are removed from the game. The two people they had PMs with (or the equivalent after being switched by an N) will gain a PM between them and lose the PMs with the inactive player. To be safe from the inactivity filter, a player must make at least one game related post. Quick Links:

  3. To the middle-aged woman outside those condos who, upon seeing Bruce, immediately launched into a condescending lecture for me (given in the guise of a lecture to Bruce) about not leaving "presents" on the patch of grass you have decided is yours: You know, I always carry a bag with me to pick up those "presents" you're so high-and-mighty about. In fact, he's left "presents" on the spot that made you so rude, but you wouldn't know it, because I made sure to erase all evidence and dispose of it in a designated container. But your lecture has opened my eyes. I am now even more concerned about those "presents" than I was before. Next time Bruce does his business on your cherished patch of grass, your lecture will be foremost in my mind. Why, I'll be so worried about accidentally disobeying your edicts that I might leave a piece or two behind. I do hope you understand. Sincerely, A Courteous Dog Owner You Don't Deserve

  4. Day 2: A Corpse is a Corpse Someone was following, of that, Dalinar was sure. It was the why that he couldn’t figure out. He had always given a fair trade for anything his took, so no one should be upset with him for that! His next one was a bit of puzzler though. What was of equal worth for a peg leg? How much value would something like that have in the first place? Considering Remart didn’t do much walking if he could be sitting and eating, maybe he wouldn’t miss it much at all? Dalinar shook his head. He was letting himself get distracted and whatever reason the person had for following him, with the way everyone was jumping at shadows recently, it probably wasn’t good. He’d have to try to lose them. You would think that, as a thief, he’d know all the best side streets and nooks and crannies to hide in. You’d be wrong with Dalinar. His way wasn’t the stealthy, sneaky kind of thievery; if you could call it theft in the first place. So it was just his luck that when he went to suddenly duck down an alleyway, it turn out to be a dead end. The person following him rounded the corner just as Dalinar realized this. Dalinar cursed and then turned to face his pursuer. “I don’t suppose you’re following me to just give me hug or something equally pleasant like that, are you?” His pursuer didn’t say anything. Instead they held out their arm, pointing it Dalinar. Inside of it, something glinted in the moonlight. Suddenly, the coins shot out of the pursuers hand, zipping straight for Dalinar. “Y-Elkp!” Dalinar cried out in what was half a cry of fear and a sob at the same time. He threw himself to the ground, but it was obvious that it was too late. Then the coins veered off course; up and away from Dalinar, towards the roof. Dalinar’s pursuer looked up as the coins thudded against a wooden shield. Then they both melted away into the night. On the other side of town, Kip was fast asleep. He’d had a long day of silently insulting everyone’s style in his head and performing in the square. You’d be amazed at how many people are willing to part with a little of their coin for a distraction in times like these. Kip wasn’t going to miss out on all that money to be made if he could help it, so he’d stayed out there longer than he usually would. By the time he decided to bed down for the night, his brain was so dead that he could barely form complete sentences. He did have the presence of mind to put on his sleep mask though. One did not sacrifice fashion, no matter how dire the situation. You never knew what or when someone might see you and if you weren’t looking your best, then they might get the wrong impression of you. That was lesson #14 after all. Due to this, he never had a chance to see the person that had silently crept into his room. He also didn’t get a chance to see them draw a vicious looking knife. And he never saw anything ever again after they plunged the knife through his heart. While he might have been the best dressed corpse to be found in bed, he was still a corpse. Night 2 is over and Day 2 is here! You have 48 hours. Use them this time rather than waiting till the last 10 minutes, eh? Dalinar was attacked, but survived! Kipper was attacked, but did not. He was a Regular Villager. Good Luck! Player List

  5. Heyo! I'm drawing OCs, for both practice and my own enjoyment. If you want to submit one of your OCs, you can do so below. In your description, please include the following: Hair color Hair length and style Eye color Skin color (this includes any moles, freckles, or birthmarks they may have) Body type Outfit (if you have reference photos, that's even better) Other assorted oddities (horns, wings, robotic arms, extra eyes, etc.) Personality Interests If there's any other important information about the character, include that too. I can draw the character two ways. Bust or full body. Bust will be them from the shoulders up, from three different angles, with three different expressions on their face. Full body will have only one angle. I'd prefer if you didn't request a pose for the character; I'd rather come up with my own, using the info you give me. Specify which way you want your character drawn. I'll try to get to every character on here, but it's first come, first serve. if I haven't drawn your character yet, I'm still working on other ones. I look forward to drawing your characters!

  6. I already posted my first post somewhere else. However, I didn't do an "about me" post. So, here goes- this is some text that doesn't mean anything and that pretty much sums it up.

  7. That was a fun one to draw! I went ahead and read a little bit of What Happened in Portland for extra information. At first I thought that I could draw him with his vulture on his arm, but then I realized that I don't know how to draw a vulture and while making a picture for someone else is not the best time to learn. So, I imagine this as him giving Funtimes the death glare for turning his radio into a piece of steak.

  9. Guys I have a concept. Im doing a character driven story. I want to start a blog/thing where I basically write fanfic for the characters ie no plain plot just them living normal life and messing around and just seeing how they react to each other. Would you guys be interested in reading /giving feedback? I'll make a proper post in creators corner once I've done my first piece, it's all conceptual right now.

  10. Would there be any interest in that? Does the sun put out a bit of energy every day? Is the ocean more than four liters of water in volume? Do bats have a pretty good sense of hearing?

And I know all about the cookies from an inside source Hmmm, now that you're telling me NOT to eat the cookie it sounds interesting Okay, changed my mind again. DEATH TO COOKIES!

  13. I'm not the best at them, but I think they're most impactful when you really hammer home the sensations the characters feel. "Punching Bag Man, the world's most eminently punchable superhero, felt Dr. Punchingstein's fist collide with his chest at full force. Something cracked as he went flying across the room, striking a wall with a smash that sent painful vibrations down his spine. He dropped to his hands and knees, his own feeble fists clenching the cold ground as he panted in pain. It was all he could do to not pass out then and there. But, knowing this was a punching the world needed him to take, he quiveringly managed to rise back up to his feet."

  17. So... I hope this doesn't seem like I'm disparaging any of the other topics floating around in this forum. But it kind of occured to me that they tended to be rather specific; as in, topics like "Critique this magic system", or "Post creative ideas you have" or "Write a hook for this picture". And that stuff is great. I love the Creation Daily thread (I mean, I hate how much better everyone else ideas are than mine, but that's besides the point ). But it kind of occured to me that... Well, maybe it's just me. But sometimes, I don't have concrete stuff I want to post, but I have things I want to talk about; vague ideas that I could maybe develop into something large and structured enough to warrant a post sometime in the future. Or, I might be really struggling with writing a certain scene, and I want advice on that, but I don't think that it warrants an entire topic. (Or - and if you're in a conversation with me, you'll know this is a common one- I wonder "is this a good idea" and am not really sure where to go or who to ask with it) So... I thought maybe this would be of relevance to people. The Random Stuff thread, Creative Corner edition You know, a general, catch all chat thread (like the Random Thread in the General Discussion forum, or the Question series in Oregon) just geared more specifically towards chat about writing, artwork and other stuff along those lines.

  18. This is my first post, and after reading some hilarious Stormlight Archive posts, I decided to get an account and make one of my own. So I was thinking, and decided on making some new Knight Radiant orders that have control over two non-adjacent Surges in the list of ten. Airgetters- Abrasion and Cohesion. Are known for finding the best places to ski, snowboard, skateboard, bike, etc. and getting huge air with their two Surge powers. Actually... I can't think of any more. Ideals: 1. I will get all the speed. 2. I will get all the air. 3. I will make the ground slicker and more cohesive so others can get all the speed and all the air. 4. Wear a helmet (or Shardplate).

  19. I have been reading through the second mistborn series again recently and stumbled across some pretty good proof that Trell is Autonomy. When people talk about reasons for why Trell is Autonomy they often bring up evidence about how Bleeder said a lot of stuff about wanting to rid Elendel of the establishment and corruption present, but I haven't seen any one bring up stuff related to Miles. After finishing AoL I am more convinced than ever that Trell is Autonomy, and I have some quotes to prove as pretty good proof. In a Miles viewpoint chapter we get to see his thoughts, and he talks a bit about Trell. At one point he explains: "He was a man created to have a steady hand and an even steadier mind. Made by Trell, inspired by the Survivor, yet still weak." This doesn't really say anything about Autonomy, but in the same chapter, when he burns Allomantic gold he says: "But gold was not completely useless. Just mostly so. Upon burning it, Miles split. The change was visible only to his own senses, but for a moment, he was two people, two versions of himself. One was the man he had been. The angry lawkeeper, growing more bitter by the day. He wore a white duster over rugged clothing, with tinted spectacles to shade his eyes against the harsh sun. Dark hair kept short and greased back. No hat. He’d always hated those. The other man was the man he’d become. Dressed in the clothing of a city worker—buttoned shirt and suspenders over dirty trousers with fraying cuffs. He walked with a slouch. When had that begun? He could see through both pairs of eyes, think both sets of thoughts. He was two people at once, and each one loathed the other. The lawkeeper was intolerant, angry, and frustrated. He hated anything that broke with the strict order of the law, and meted out harsh punishments with no mercy. He had a special loathing for someone who had once followed the law, but had turned his back upon it. The robber, the Vanisher, hated that the lawkeeper let others choose his rules. There was really nothing sacred about the law. It was arbitrary, created by powerful men to help them hold power. The criminal knew that secretly, deep down, the lawkeeper understood this. He was severe toward criminals because he felt so impotent. Each day, life grew worse for the good people, the people who tried, and the laws did little to help them. He was like a man swatting mosquitoes while ignoring the gash in his leg, an artery open and throbbing gushes of blood onto the floor." From these two viewpoints, we see the man he could have been, a law keeper, like he was before involvement with the Set. We also see the actual Miles, and what he sees wrong with, essentially, what he was in the past. He says that he loathes that the 'lawkeeper' let other choose his rules in the past, and how he now hated anything that stuck to the law and punished others with no mercy. This is the exact rhetoric you would expect to hear from someone who was influenced by Autonomy. Judging by his comments about how he was heavily influenced by Trell, I don't think this is a coincidence, and that Trell is Autonomy. Let me know what you guys think!

  23. Well... okay. That's entirely your choice. I think I'll take a moment away from college apps to give my perspective, though: Yes, I do think you could have acted better in this and previous games. I do think your playstyle is unhealthy in the aggregate, and I don't want to see people following your example because SE is primarily about fun, not competitiveness. And for you the competitiveness is the fun, and I can understand that. But if it's interfering with the happiness of other players in the game or making them legitimately angry, it should no longer be acceptable in our community. So yes. You can leave. You can take a hiatus, wait indefinitely until you think the time has come to come back, for whatever reason. Or maybe you never do, and SE is just something that you enjoyed for a while and then ended badly and you don't really think about it. You can continue without SE in your life. That's fine. But you don't have to. This community is still here. Just because I disagree with some of your choices doesn't mean I don't care. Instead of staying the way you are, you could make a conscious effort to change, to become more aware of the enjoyment of others in the game, not only your own enjoyment. You could learn. That's one of the really amazing things about SE, honestly - it teaches you so much. I know for a fact I've become more honorable directly because of SE. I keep to my word more. I'm a better critical thinker. I'm more open to other perspectives. All these things directly because of the influence SE has had on me. You're not suddenly unwelcome here, Len. That doc wasn't trying to tell you that. It's telling you that your behavior needs to change, sure. And if you don't want to do that, that's fine. But you're not going to be suddenly ostracized. You're not an example of a 'bad' player. (You're still better than a habitual inactive.) You're just one who could be better, and that's what that doc was trying to tell you. It's your choice, in the end. Stay, and change and learn and grow, or don't, and stay the way you are. I would be happy to see you stay, but that's your decision to make, not mine.

  24. I see what you mean. I would have no idea how to write a fight scene without magic and the like to spice it up. As far as I'm concerned, fight scenes that are just exchange of punches are relatively meh in books just because that works much better in a visual media. So when i end up with a fight scene I try to have as little "X and Y punch each other" and instead look at it as more of a puzzle, asking both the question whats the best thing to do for the combatan in this situation and what actually moves the fight forward while summing up any actual instance of just punching as much as possible. (Again, much easier with magic to spice up the options. )

  27. I saw that show when I was a kid. I had the VHS tapes. That thing was dark. Looking back at it now - a ragtag group of survivors making their way to a mythical promised land, while being pursued by their enemeis... well... ...And I have a bunch of ideas, and I'm never sure if they are good, bad, or the type of things which shouldn't see the light of day. But I bother people with them in PM's anyway. So... here's one I thought was goofy which I'm batting around lately: A typical, fantasy, fairytale princess get's kidnapped, as typical, fantasy, fairytale princesses are wont to do. Her kidnappers are aliens, doing the alien abduction thing that they are best known for. Genre mashup hilarity ensues.

  28. Looks like I called it. We have a vigilante on our hands after all. I didn't know how to feel about this. Vigilante justice has always kinda run opposite to my idea of justice. But I couldn't honestly say that I wouldn't have done the same if I could. The fact that he survived was just as interesting to me. Two people attacked, two people survived. I was almost surprised to hear that Kip had died; I was beginning to think the whole bloody town was under some kind of protection. But there were two possibilities here, and I didn't know which was more likely. Firstly, that Reginald was indeed our man, and was saved by either his own power or his friends helping him, or he was a loyal member of the village, and saved by our enemies to sow confusion. Both seemed possible when it was this obvious he would be attacked, and I found it interesting that some of us were taking his survival as proof of the evil inside him. In my opinion, it did not make it any more or less likely. We had no new evidence to go on. Of course, it was also possible that we had a loyal Lurcher who decided he was probably innocent, but that didn't seem likely to me. People were already pointing fingers again, but I couldn't blame them. However, I didn't like that they all pointed them in one direction - Reginald. Sure, I didn't trust the guy, but it all seemed to be to be a ploy. Easy enough to incriminate a guy by making sure he survives the vigilante justice. In my opinion, that didn't make him any more or less guilty. He could have survived because he had friends in low places, or because he had enemies in low places who thought he'd make for a good distraction. And Lord Ruler, he was making for a good distraction. And that wasn't even considering the innkeeper, Grumbles, who started throwing out accusations. When pressed, he decided not to actually continue making them. Seemed a mite odd, but maybe I was just letting yesterday get to me. Now, this all started with two people, Matilda and the Terrisman. Matilda was a drunkard, true, but she seemed to have other reasons behind what she was saying. Herwynbe, however, he was the second vote, the confirmer of the lynch. I felt he should know better than to start confirming that we should kill Reginald this early in the morning. All it would do was stifle discussion. Especially since the next couple of guys who spoke up followed his lead. A Terrisman couldn't be wrong after all, could they? Well, maybe, maybe not. I didn't care much whether he was right or not when I put his name forward. They say there's honour among thieves and villains, but I've never met one who wouldn't sell his friends down the canal to save his own sorry skin. I felt it could just as easily be him trying to stop us thinking and rushing us to lynch Reginald. I might be wrong, but I wouldn't mind knowing why he felt that Reginald was almost definitely a traitor to the village.

  29. Surgebinding is a mix of H&C. I think an easy way to identify which Orders are more of given side is to look at the Heralds. Honor is male, Cultivation is female. There are 5 male Heralds and 5 female. Top five (WIndrunners, Skybreakers, Willshapers, Stonewards, Bondsmiths) are more aligned with Honor and down five (Dustbringers, Edgedancers, Truthwatchers, Lightweavers, Elsecallers) are more aligned with Cultivation. (also take a look at their attributes)

  30. From the SE Rules and Etiquette Hopefully that's clear enough? I'm giving you a hard time because it's funny, but in all seriousness, it's a fair question. No one is allowed to Copy/Paste information from a PM (as much as I didn't want to on the idea that it legitimizes his PM message, for better or for worse (rather than it being faked), Drake has received an Official Warning due to his neglect of the Rules of the SubForum). If you are caught doing so, you will be given a Warning. You are allowed to paraphrase and that's about it. No form of copy/pasting is allowed; at all.

  31. Inquisitors are created by Hemalurgy, true, but their actual powers are Allomancy and Feruchemy. And Koloss are not terribly impressive, really. They are surrounded in legend & fear, and when we see them as enemies they are largely facing poorly trained men where that makes a big difference. But when people actually stand against them, they're not terribly effective. Elend killed one with just a knife when he wasn't even an Allomancer yet, and Vin can kill them with coins - they're much stronger than humans, but they don't seem to get proportionate resilience. A Koloss is made from 5 people, and they're definitely not worth 5 human soldiers in battle. Probably not even 2, if the humans aren't overwhelmed by the sight of them. Without the fear factor, I think a phalanx formation could defeat them at 1:1 or worse odds.

  32. Remart snored softly in the bed he'd finally broken down and rented from the innkeeper, Grumbles (what an appropriate nickname the man had). He'd paid for room service too, so he woke as a tray of pastries was carried into his room. Stuffing one down his throat, he thought through what he'd learned so far. One: a metal peg leg might be dangerous with Coinshots and Lurchers making trouble. Two: someone was seriously trying to screw with their heads. Reginald Canuck, that thieving schemer (or so he'd heard, he hadn't yet taken anything of Remart's, which was probably for the best after all), had been saved by some people making last minute decisions, some of them bafflingly, but for some reason, Remart's gut (in addition to grumbling about needing another pastry) was telling him the man was probably not a danger. Perhaps, but it seemed almost…too obvious. Remart headed out into the town to find some more ale, and to see what he could learn. He figured he'd steer clear of the crazy cat lady, though. No need to deal with drunken cats today. Obviously, I'm starting my RP not knowing that Reginald was attacked or that Kip is dead.

  33. It's harder, not impossible. Spoilered for size. I'm of the opinion that you can sense people with lifesense when they're holding breath but not drabs because of affinity between the breaths, not because of a threshold. Can't say for certain until we see someone using lifesense to detect a regular human or not. In any case, my point was not regarding exactly how much investiture humans hold, but more along the lines that compared to other uses of investiture, they have a low amount. In addition, I would think that forging an extra connection to a shard, one which wouldn't normally exist, would take a fairly hefty amount of investiture. Finally, all the magics on Sel that we've seen are variations of the same magic, so I think they all operate under the same classification for the most part, either end-positive, end-neutral, or end-negative. Perhaps slight deviation to end-neutral since most of the ones we've seen are end-positive, but I cannot see one deviating all the way to ed-negative.

  36. All those votes on D1? I've already stated that the value of a D1 Lynch is mostly that it's the first lynch, and is the only lynch for a while. As soon as we start the D2 Lynch, the D1 Lynch is basically meaningless to me. And when I read D1, I honestly did not understand why people were voting for Dalinar. And as for finding insight into who says what, there's you and Madagascar. Everyone else seems to be saying 'he didn't die, let's lynch him anyway.' So for this lovely insight, D2 discussion was nearly killed, and if not killed, focused back onto the issue of Dalinar. And there's always going to be clues about who the eliminators are in any lynch, so I could use that for like any lynch, so it doesn't just apply to the lynch on Dalinar. All of your posts this cycle have said that Dalinar should die, or that Dalinar is evil, etc etc. If you were to die right now, we'd only know that you wanted Dalinar dead. No other suspicions? Joe did the same thing, and I think he did it before you. But he can't say that he hasn't played in a while.

I even had to close my eyes during that scene in Ant-Man where the lamb gets killed.) But the fact that Farthing Wood was popular in its time, and is still remembered fondly today, proves that there is an audience out there for that kind of story.

  40. I have my own theory on it that I'll post later when I have time and all the points together. Basically though, I believe shard plate is a bonded Larkin. Bonded Spren become weapons and give the ability to draw in Stormlight, and a bonded Larkin becomes armor that makes use of that Stormlight. I'd say Rysn has already bonded her Larkin, but since she has no bonded Spren and therefore no access to Stormlight to properly completely the chain, it is just a Larkin and will remain so for now. I'd say Rysn will be the first to become radiant and to get her shardplate. As we saw Kaladin's big scene of getting Syl to become his sword, we will see a similar scene with Rysn becoming an armored radiant. That's my prediction anyway. But I'll start a thread later with more details so hopefully one day I can say, "See!! I knew it."

  41. This isn't really a theory, but rather some observations and thoughts that have been bouncing around my head for a while. Basically it seems like the saying "The eyes are the window to the soul" is very applicable in the cosmere. We have many instances where the local magic interacts with a person's eyes in a special way. A good example is how a person's eyes burn and shrivel after their soul has been severed by a Shardblade. The Blade cuts on another realm, leaves most of the body intact, and the only physical manifestation of a severed soul are the burned eyes. This doesn't explain why the flesh turns grey when only a limb is cut, but that seems to work like what the Shades on Threnody do. Staying on Roshar, the eye color of Stormform Parshendi and Radiants changes after having bonded a special spren. The bond is essentially the filling of a crack in the spirit web with sentient investiture, it makes sense that it would manifest as a change of eye color in the Physical Realm if the eyes give us a glimpse of changes to the spirit web. I'm not certain what the relationship between the spirit web and the soul is however, so if anybody knows, that would be very helpful. Savantism is another form of altering the spirit web. If I remember correctly, the Soulcaster-Ardents we see are Transformation savants and their eyes have changed to resemble gemstones. Shouldn't people who's spirit web is altered in other ways also manifest changes with their eyes? It would be interesting to know if similar changes occur for allomantic savants. The only example I can remember is Spook, who's eyes did change but I think we can safely attribute that to the special effects of tin. On the note of Allomancy, Inquisitors are spiked through their eyes. Of course we see that you don't necessarily have to be spiked through the eyes, but it makes sense that the eyes are Hemalurgic binding points in the spirit web. Again, if someone knows more about how the spirit web, the soul, and points on the physical body connect, that would be very helpful. I hope this was somewhat coherent and made a bit of sense, basically it seems the eyes are realmatically important If anybody has other examples or insights or objections, I'd love to hear them!

  43. Agreed. To a Herald, "demigod" would mean a powerful Splinter (or the other Heralds, and I wouldn't put it past Nale to judge one of the other 8 and take action.) ... OR we could put on our super-thick tinfoil here and say that he's talking about Honor and that he and the other Heralds were somehow (or feel somehow) responsible for his destruction...

  44. "We're dead," she said again. "We are so dead." Charlie didn't bother to answer; Candace had been rocking on the hood of the car muttering for the past hour. One hand kept touching the bag of jewels as if afraid it would disappear. The other kept pawing at the blood on her pale blue dress as if hoping it would. "So dead," the tied up man agreed. "Maximum dead." "Don't need your opinion." Charlie grunted. What he needed was an extra pair of hands to dig the hole, but even if he had an extra shovel, he wouldn't have asked Candace for help. She had a talents, but even on her best day, backbreaking labor was beyond her. Having just shot a man meant this probably wasn't her best day. Their captive ignored him. "C'mon man," he said, dropping his voice to a conspiratorial whisper. "What's the harm in talk, right?" Charlie had to give it to him; he was remarkably calm for someone tied to a cactus in the middle of a desert. Then again, it was probably a familiar sight to him. Charlie imagined that the crooks who ran Vegas often buried corpses in the desert. He focused again on digging. The captive wasn't going to let the topic drop. "Hey so listen man. So maybe things got a little out of hand. This rust happens, know what I mean? No big." "Are you a sociopath?" The burly man looked up with a frown. "A what?" "A socio- never mind." Did that word have any meaning anymore? The captive -a young boy, now that he paid attention- probably didn't know any world other than this one, and even before Calamity, Vegas hadn't been a basin of morality. "You're telling the guys who put a hole in your friends' gut and then literally drove both of you fifteen miles out of town to dump the body." "He wasn't my friend." "I think you're missing the point." "So are you, bro. See, there's two of you, but only one gun. Catch my meaning?" When Charlie frowned, he sighed exasperated, fidgeting. "What I mean is...hey, think ya could loosen this a lit-" "Absolutely not." "Cold, man. I'm laying on the table here." He leaned forward, as far forward as the desert plant and his bindings old allow. "It was your girl here shot him," he said. "Still got the blood to prove it. And she was the one at the table too. Two of a kind. Killing one of his men, and counting cards in his casino; Capodecina doesn't like either of those." Charlie couldn't help but snort. Capodecina. It sounded like an epic name, but it's owner was anything but. From what he had heard, Capo liked to throw his weight around with the air and manners of an epic and a mobster, but he was still very human. Strangely enough, that led to the man and his establishments being popular with epics and Vanilla's. It was what had drawn him and Candace there. There were enough peoplethatthey had thought they could get away with it; pass off her card counting as an epic ability, if worst came to worst. Considering they had a body stinking in the afternoon sun, and a punk gloating, it was safe to say that this was worst. "That's a nice car," the boy continued. "What is it, a '98 chevy?" "That is literally the opposite of what that is." He laughed. "Okay man, I admit it. I don't know rust about cars. That was more...well..." He tilted his head, gesturing at his former partner. "Anyway, I know enough to recognise a getaway vehicle, ya get me?" Charlie wished he didn't. He wished they hadn't ran into either of the men. He wished he'd pulled Candace away from the table sooner. He wished for a lot of things. He wished he had another shovel. He realised that Candace had gone quiet, and looked over his shoulder. She had stopped rocking, stoppedtalking. She was staring wide-eyed at the pair, like a rabbit caught in the headlights. "Getaway cars are kept fuelled up, right? So I bet you got a decent tank of gas. And it might get that little bit further if you...lightened the load. One body, 'stead of two." "What are you saying?" Charlie kept his tone level, quiet and cold, as if that would stop Candace from hearing him. "What's it sound like, man? Let me go. Get in your car. Drive off. No one's gonna come after you if we got what we want; thar is to say, the money and the-" The last word of his sentence was drowned by the sound of the shovel ringing the upside of his head, a wet and sticky sound of steel cutting into skin and blood. "Don't talk about my wife that way," Charlie said coldly. This time, at least, he didn't get a reply. He looked back at the woman sitting on the car, staring at him with curiosity, and he suddenly felt awkward and embarrassed. A few cultures circling over head pierced the silence with appreciative sqwacks. "Did you mean that" she asked slowly, finally breaking the silence. Charlie reached up, rubbing the back of his head. "Was supposed to be more romantic," he admitted. "Was gonna buy a ring after we skipped town but...but yeah. Yeah I mean that." Candace stared at him. She slid off the car, wrapped her arms around him, and kissed him so deeply that he didn't care about the blood she was pressing onto his shirt. When he, reluctantly, pulled away, it was with a sudden curse of realisation. "What's wrong?" "Now I have to dig two holes."

  45. Deleted scene from 'Words of Radiance': Blade: Lucky you! You don't get soaked everytime your bond puts you on. Plate: At least that keeps you clean. Ever got shat in? Blade: You have no idea. Anyone can borrow me, and some of those idiots drag me behind them all the time, tip in the ground, never caring whether I cut through stone, crem or chull leavings. Plate: Be glad that none of that can hurt you. Ever had to entirely regrow from a small splinter? Storms, what a bother. Blade: And how exactly is that worse than having to rise from the dead several times a day? Plate: Careful, there comes a Knight Radiant in spe. Blade: You don't think he can hear our shard talk, do you? Plate: No, just get ready to be humiliated! Maybe I'll escape being shat in today after all... --- many blows later --- Blade: Talking about humiliation: how does it feel, lying on your back, helpless, locked? Plate: Better then being held by someone lying on his back, helpless, clutched in the grip of a locked plate! See you next duel... [If you think this is poor as a joke (you're probably right), consider it a riddle: what color is the plate?]
