  3. Well, who is back, you may be wondering. I've never seen this guy before. He's got zero posts! The nerve! I'm GONNA DOWNVOTE HIM SO HARD--before you do that, listen up. Here's the nitty gritty. I used to be the member known as Snoopy (link in my sig). For reasons that I don't feel like detailing here, I had to get a new account. Suffice it to say, I made a stupid mistake that involved deleting my email address...many accounts were lost that day...CHAOS, DON'T HIT ME WITH THE BANHAMMER PLEASE!! I PROMISE YOU THAT SNOOPY WON'T EVER BE ACTIVE AGAIN. All that said, what else is left? Ah yes, the work of finding all those threads I used to follow...except the Question threads; I ain't ever followin' those again (Read: 100 notifications a day). All my friends, I will find you! Winter, Brightness Random, Voidus, Mailliw, mail-mi, Kobold, Aonar, Winter, Arthur, Pifferdoo, leift, wilson, and all those I forgot, I AM COMING! I will likely be involved in SE a lot, RPing in Oregon, and of course, cosmere theories, the meat of this place. Anyhoo, I'm back, so come find me and let's talk. Why the name? Why not "Snoopy2"? Well, I feel like Kipper is a better name than Snoopy (or inexorablePanda) ever was. I FEEL this name. It starts with a "K," which is awesome. It sounds cool. It is cool. It also happens to rhyme with "chipper," which I also am. Maybe I should change it to "Khipper," hmmm. What do you Sharders think? See ya 'round! P.S. If you really need me to prove myself, just PM with me a question that Snoopy would know the answer too, like something in a PM that I would remember. P.P.S. Yes, Voidus, I'll take that cookie.

  6. So I had this idea for Timeport. His body is basically reset in everything except age to "perfect" when he resurrects. So I was thinking that Timeport decides he doesn't need sleep, and just kills himself in the mornings. Thoughts?

  8. Having sent a disgruntled Arsenal away, Vondra took a seat. Autumn knew that was her permission to do likewise, but she couldn't stop pacing. "Do you need anything before you brief me on what's been happening? A glass of coke? Another firmly worded letter to Reader?" "Two pounds of aspirin," she said before she could stop herself, "a restraining order, and something on an official-looking piece of paper with that fancy letterhead reminding Arsenal that not everyone can make sparking nukes out of thin air, so maybe he should take teleporting a strange Epic into a command center as a cry for help!" Vondra chuckled. "I'll see that you get that aspirin, and I'll have a word with Daniel. I'll need more context for that restraining order, though." Context. Autumn's cheeks flamed all over again, and she sank heavily into a swivel chair. "New Epic. Shiny Sparkle. I….” She heaved a sigh. “I wouldn’t have done what I did if I knew it’d go that far.” She didn’t look at the eyebrows she knew would be raised. She didn’t even sit. She stood and paced the floor, sharing everything that happened from Shiny Sparkle’s arrival to the present time. Every detail she recalled was related as honestly as she could; even if she was inclined to lie, which she was not she knew the truth would surface eventually. Besides, Vondra’s appreciation for honesty was well known. A detail that cast her in an unflattering light, shared openly, would help her case more than a stretched truth that made her look better. Autumn told him everything that had happened, resisting the urge to rant. Mostly. “So then,” she finished, “after I’ve been cuddled and fondled all over town, I have her port us here, hoping Arsenal would break things up.” She pounded her fist against the back of a swivel chair. “I wasn’t thinking clearly. She had us in free fall, flirting the entire time! Seriously, we’re about to splatter all over the pavement, and she’s talking about how cute I am when I’m angry! And Arsenal still doesn’t get it until I kiss her in front of him!” She paused in the silence that followed, reliving it. There had to have been something else she could have done. Grabbed a chair and forced Shiny away like a cartoon lion tamer or something. Anything. “I screwed up,” she finished. Even to her own ears, her voice sounded deflated. Tired. “I should’ve done something more, anything…but I wasn’t thinking. She caught—“ Just then, a voice shrieked over the radio. "Help!" She called in her best panicked voice. "It's Deathwish, he's at the old mill armory and he's killing all of the—“ There was a scream, and the radio fell silent.

  10. i need to send Flashpoint to the arms dealer, but do you guys think that'd be better in the morning? Wow. Creepy and perfect. And apparently worth 6 upvotes. Something awesome happened today that I have to share with you guys! So I'm the Editor-in-Chief of my school newspaper/magazine and for a final gift, my adviser and assistant editor arranged for Brandon himself to come to my school and sign a copy of WoR for me and talk with me for ten minutes or so! It was the coolest moment of my life! The bad news is that when he asked if I had any questions, I was still surprised and shocked at seeing him that everything went blank. I couldn't remember a single question from the FUNTIMES list or any of my own. I'm a bit disappointed about that, but it was still really cool!

  11. Right. She's not irredeemable; if shown how harmful her behavior was and given an opportunity to escape, she'd take it. I don't see her as unsympathetic at all. (In fact, the more of her backstory I write, the worse I feel for her.) She isn't beyond redemption, but she does need it. Badly. Funniest thing happened during the previews for Age of Ultron, by the way. I doubt anyone cares about the previews being spoiled, but just in case....

  12. It took every ounce of his willpower to not interrupt Autumn's rant with one of his own. Instead, Vondra had to settle for locking his jaw through her entire diatribe. Foreign Epics were throughout his city, taking advantage of the furry invasion to cause chaos. That wasn't surprising. As long as they'd been contained before getting the chance to harm the city's citizens, it was nothing to get worked up over. Only handled with cool, collected tactics. It was the Epic who named herself Shiny Sparkle that had him grinding his teeth and trying to manually lower his blood pressure. He'd never met her, but he could imagine her. A tall, proud woman in outlandish garb, a chilled smile on her lips and a cold analysis in her eyes. Possibly masking her arrogance with some sort of sickly geniality, but nonetheless hiding the same twisted desires as any other of her kin. This one's twisted desires brought her to The Dalles in a time of strife, where she molested the only woman he could trust and now ran amok in his city, causing who knew what kind of harm. Glass might have violated security protocols, but he couldn't hold her accountable for her outrage--not when his own first impulse was to personally seek this creature out and shoot her between the eyes. Autumn Glass gradually finished her story, leaving the office silent save for Rhonda typing up the new Epic profiles on the office laptop. “I screwed up,” the counselor finished wretchedly. “I should’ve done something more, anything…but I wasn’t thinking. She caught—“ Vondra had his mouth open to reassure her. And then the radio began bursting out a panicked voice. "Help! It's Deathwish, he's at the old mill armory and he's killing all of the—“ The voice of a terrified young woman cut off with a flare of static, and the transmission was no more. Suddenly all of his anger from before seemed to vanish. There was a difference between anger and real anger. The icy determination, the cold hard knowledge that you were going to kill a man. Thinking of Edgar Hawk now, nothing but that cold real anger filled his mind. "He's finally done it!" he exploded, bolting upright from his chair and storming across the room. "That man's been waiting for his opportunity to run wild again. He shouldn't have been allowed loose at all today--storms, I should have had him shot the day he arrived--" He clipped an extra gun to his belt, striding away from his desk without a look back. "Glass, we'll need to postpone the rest of this. Rhonda, follow me, we're heading back to the heli--" In mid stride he felt himself freeze solid, every ounce of his body suddenly motionless in the air. Not even his hair blew from the ceiling fan as he stood suspended with one foot off the ground, his mouth wide open and his back to the two women in the room. "Apologies, commander," the Epic called Redlight said flatly. "But for once, we really must insist you listen to counsel before attempting to personally smite down our enemies." Rhonda's voice grew slightly softer, but still as frosty as it always was as she spoke to the other woman. "Ms. Glass, as our town counselor would you please provide a touch of that counsel? He'll listen to you."

  14. For someone that apparently gathered everything Lightwards still had a lot of questions for Lucentia. “Of course I noticed something. Only the vigilant deserve success and mine has been quite plenty. It’s the Trattner girl, from what I gathered she communicated with Altermind using that clipboard Funtimes gave her, something she wrote triggered his weakness and the girl did her best to hide the paper she wrote on. Something Altermind let her get away with. Rather pathetic on his part but that only means it is his own fault, if it gets used against him.” "I have a way of controlling her. Whatever she knows, I will know upon my next encounter with her," Lightwards responded. A smile grew on Lucentia’s face, true they did have their mother after all. It almost made her wish that the brat would refuse to tell them. Shortly afterwards they reached the museum and Lucentia raised a new pillar under them. They entered the over-grown foliage. As soon as no one was standing on it anymore, Lucentia let the pillar collapse, cutting the floating fortress off from the ground. “Finally finished your business for the day, did ya?” The one that called out to them was her brother, flanked by two women- did he pick up yet another one?- and dragging Funtimes’ mask wearing atrocity behind him, his hands tied. “Guess who turned out to actually be an Epic, was hidden by Funtimes here in the museum, came out of said hiding while everyone was away, tried to burn down this nice flammable forest Funtimes grew and tried to led away some of the dinosaurs in the confusion.” He gave the Unicyclist a kick in the ribs, “Granted there aren’t that many options, so I’m sure you can figure it out quite nicely.” Lucentia shook her head, even wouldn’t be that stupid. Not that she would actually step up for her defense, even if her brother was only planning to pin something on the woman. Still, she led Lightwards react first. He may as well show some leadership.

  15. Hey! I've been working on a few drawings recently and I thought I would share them now! So tell me what you think of them! Also if you want to suggest any other ideas of what to draw from the stormlight archive that would be great. The first drawing is my depiction of Adolin. I kind of what to work on this some more, but I thought it looked good enough to show you guys. Adolin is suppose to be really good looking with messy hair in a military uniform. My second drawing is my new depiction of the NightWatcher. Now there isn't really a description of her in the book so I really had freedom to draw what ever I wanted.

  16. Bortsworth Renoux dropped a coin on the ground and Pushed on it. Then he did the same. Again. And again. Bortsworth shot across the sky back towards the city. A man flew across the sky, coming back. They ignored each other. Hm. Wonder who that coinshot is? "Hey." The man stopped jumping, instead holding himself up in the air with steel. "Where are you goin'?" Bortsworth burned bronze. The man was only burning steel. Probably a coinshot. "None of your business." "I'll leave you to your... devices. Will you be coming back this way?" "Yeah." Bortsworth nodded. "Why?" "Nothing, just curious. See you later?" "Sure." Bortsworth continued on. What an odd man. He landed softly out in front of Keep Aime. The city he was in was not Luthadel. If the Aime lived in Luthadel, he wouldn't be doubting his choices now. The other two members of the house were dead. He knocked on the door. No response. Bortsworth pulled open the door. A body lay over the entryway. Bortsworth examined it. It was Thraim, the man Bortsworth had came to kill. He was unconscious. "I always knew that drinking would get you in trouble." Bortsworth shrugged. He took out a glass dagger and slit the man's throat. Bortsworth looked through his pockets. Certified House Aime Rioter. "Oops. Oh well. One less Aime to deal with." Bortsworth shrugged. "Bye." Bortsworth ran off into the mists and began shooting himself back towards Keep Renoux. "Hey, again!" The man called. "Hey!" "What?" Bortsworth hovered above a bar. "Could you come down here for a moment?" "Sure. Not like I have anywhere else to go." The man and Bortsworth chatted for a bit. They didn't ask each other's names. The man drank a vial of liquid, at one point. "A pinch of steel. A pint of blood." The man stated, oddly. "Huh?" "The cost of killing." "Okay..." Bortsworth felt as if he wanted to go home to Keep Renoux, but he figured that he should listen to what the man had to say. "I guess you're right." "I know." The man pulled out a coin. It shimmered with the mist all around them. The sight was eerie. "A pinch of steel." "A pinch of steel." Bortsworth repeated. The coin shot into his gut. So fast. Bortsworth... Couldn't stop. Lifeblood. Pouring out. I'm dead. -- Yknal Venture strode through the halls of Keep Venture. It was his Keep. He earned it. All the sweat and the blood and the atium. Or at least that was what the stupid Venture was probably thinking. For now. He didn't earn anything. The Great House spy thought. "Hello." The spy dropped into the hall from the roof. Yknal looked at the spy. "What are you doing here?" "Killing you." The spy dashed forward, pulling out a pair of shiny glass daggers. Yknal dodged the first dagger, but the second took him in the side. Yknal collapsed. Bleeding from the side. The Venture was dead. Chaos. Thraim Frothginton was an Aime Rioter! Bortsworth was a Renoux Mistborn! Yknal was the Venture!

  20. Lucentia is a 100%, strictly certified Slontze. Licensed to be a Slontze in all forty-eight continental Fractured States and Canada. If she jumped off of her ego and landed on her actual worth, not even her healing would let her survive the fall. If opposites attract, then her ideal match is kind, thoughtful, generous, and probably lucky enough to have died years before having to meet her. She makes me hope to heaven that Epics are sterile. Lucentia, thy tongue outvenoms all the serpents of the Nile. And anywhere else, for that matter. In three thousand years an expeditionary crew to the planet Rimenight will discover a super-venomous drake-creature that likes to crawl down people's shirts and leave horrific toxic bites up and down their torsos. They will call this creature "The Not-Lucentia Drake," in the interest of looking on the bright side. Nonetheless, I can't stop laughing at her icon.

  22. I'm pretty sure it is Dalinar and Eshonai. Source As for me, my most facepalm moment (although it was but a theory) was that in WoR, Shallan and Szeth would take the same boat to the Shattered Planes and would fall in love. I thought it would've been interesting, but looking back....

  23. I pronounce it "Seth" since in Hungarian when you have an "Sz", it makes a simple "S" sound. Granted, I was mispronouncing every name in Mistborn because I never realized they were supposed to sound French. I read "Vin", now know it's supposed to sound like "Vahn", but still say "Vinn". Meh. Head-canon. Stannis, in all his grammar nazi ways, would simply shake his head and say:

  24. First off, major spoilers **Continue at your own risk** Ok, Hrathen's funeral scene got me. That was probably the most worthy farewell/death scene ever. All he ever wanted to be was Arelon's savior, and he was, just not in the way he thought. I actually cried when Serene gave her speech. That was the best ending I believe for any of Brandon's series so far. Well, then again, the Hero of Ages was AMAZING, and Warbreaker was pretty awesome. Still, I think it was an amazing, tear jerking, and respectful end to a complex character. But seriously, was I the only one? Let me know below

  29. Ok got a new epic that I would like to place in Corvallis as a citizen (In other words he is known to the Queens etc.) Epic Name: Mannequin the Puppet Master Primary Power: Puppet Control: He can seize control of any inanimate object, though the closer the object is to human, the easier. He can control any number of objects, but more objects or straining an object outside of its normal movement range, requires more energy. Secondary Power: Direct Control: He can transfer consciousness directly of any one puppet to more precisely control the puppet or in order to escape harm. Doing this places his normal body at extreme risk. The range away from his body is currently unknown. Tertiary Power: Puppet Body: upon death of his original body, he can transmit his consciousness to any dead body and take control of his new body. The body must be close and still generally usable.

  32. I love the way his feelings for Sarene develop over the course of the book. It's so subtly done! Someone once said in a book jacket quote (about Mistborn I think) that Brandon has a great understanding of how love takes root in the human heart, and I definitely see that here. In fact, I think Hrathen's feelings for Sarene are one of the most believable examples of romance in the Cosmere for me. Definitely a great ending, with the perfect emotional punch.

  36. You will make it through. Yes, you have a hard test tomorrow. Yes, you've been going through some hard things. But guess what? You've made it through so far! You've done the practice tests, you've worked hard, you've learned new things! You'll be able to do the test as well. Yes, it'll be hard. But you've prepared for it! And if you don't do well? It's just a test. You'll still have learned new things and understand the world around you a little better. And if you do do well, good job! Sometimes it's nice to see hard work rewarded. We don't always get to see it rewarded. Sometimes the hard things we do only will reflect on the inside. Sometimes it'll just develop us for the things that are on the way. But sometimes we'll see the fruit of our labor. That's nice too. You can do it! Just do YOUR best. Not THE best. That's all you need to do. Good luck tomorrow! And good luck these next few weeks. There will be hard times, but remember what you've already accomplished. You've done hard things, and you can keep on doing them.

  37. Collaborate hurled another soldier towards Corpsemaker, his glee at being singled out by the powerful Epic turned to dissatisfaction as the soldier flew less than a third as fast as the ones he'd used before. He turned back, looking for his group of soldiers, only to find them all bleeding on the floor, their corpses surrounding a man with a gun who was calmly surveying the rest of the field. It seemed that human followers were as fragile as ever. Cursing himself for his hubris, Collaborate realized how underprepared he'd been, he'd been used to fighting one Epic, maybe a small team with perhaps a dozen human bodyguards, he'd never stopped to think that as he targeted Corpsemaker another Epic might decimate his followers. Growling with rage he hurled the car door he'd been using towards the Epic, only for it to curve in mid air and bury itself in one of his own soldiers. Analyzing his remaining strength he guessed that there were perhaps ten remaining from his army of thirty. I need to finish this quickly. Attack Corpsemaker directly, scare his Epics into submission. Capture that Toymaker Epic so I get the soldiers, then I will have more than enough strength left. Feeling his strength slowly draining more as the other Epics from the MEE were killed he took action, taking a giant leap towards Corpsemaker, hands outstretched. Even as he flew, two more died, leaving him with barely five times his normal strength, fear started to flicker in his stomach as he soared, what if they all died? What if they died before he could even touch Corpsemaker? He tried to think of a plan, some way to escape, but no, he was already there, already committed. He landed, barely five feet from the legendary Epic, legs straining as he no longer had the strength to properly absorb his fall. He was all alone. Alone and trying to fight the strongest Epic in Portland. Yorrick observed his catch, it had turned out that skulls weren't great at digging bodies out of graves, even if they were flaming, flying skulls. Luckily someone from the MEE had sent Scrapyard after them, the Epic turning his limbs into digging equipment and managed to unearth a dozen bodies in as many minutes. Stitch had taken some of the more intact bodies, sitting down nearby he wove his thread through their corpses, the corpses limbs twitching occasionally as he tested their movement. Sighing, Yorrick looked at his growing army of skulls, their eerie glowing penetrating the nights gloom, then he looked up, the dim glow from the underside of the floating museum taunting him. He turned towards Scrapyard. "I'm going to need mor., A lot more." He arranged his skulls beneath him, forming a glowing platform for him to stand on, he hovered slightly above the ground on his flaming bed of skulls before arranging them into a chair instead. Yes, a flaming throne made from the skulls of my enemies. And tonight, tonight I will add the skull of Lightwards to them, and whoever else is dwelling in that museum.

  38. I have cried no less than three times today. First off, band. In which I have three solos, one of which I can't play. I know that I can't play this one, and I'm shaking so badly and can barely breathe under that pressure so I sound awful anyway. To make matters worse, both the euthonium and saxophone sections are talking trash about each soloist. Even the current picc, who plays her part wonderfully and my good friend who plays bassoon. Now, you can talk crap about me all day. Do it. I don't storming care. But talk trash about my friend and I will all but kill you. I should have punched them all out. Storming cremlings. But then algebra comes and I'm already in a bitter mood. And we have to take this quiz. Straight memorizing. I spend a while last night doing it and what do I do? I forget the whole thing. So I fill in what I think I know while cursing silently. I can hear one of my other friends trying to cheer me on a bit but eventually I give up and turn it in. After the quiz we get free time so he comes over, and we work a bit on homework and I just.. spill. I hate crying. I hate being weak. But I do it anyway. The whole morning just built up. Oh, and did I mention that the ap world exam is tomorrow? Like the real one? Yeah. So guess what's been eating at me the whole day. Surprise, surprise. So I go in after school for some last minute help and I frickin cry in front of my ap world teacher too. I'm sick of this. And now I'm stressing again. Its 10:30 almost. The night before the exam. And I'm crying in the dark. I'm stressing about everything. My Spanish grade is gone, and my algebra grade is following. I have this huge college credit exam tomorrow and my other teachers decide that it would be wise to have quizzes and tests and projects due right after it. I honestly don't think I'm gonna make it through these next few weeks.

  40. We knew location was less important in the Spiritual from the recent AMA, but it's nice to know it doesn't matter at all. It makes it seem like Scadrial's Investiture is mostly in the Spiritual, hence why Hoid can draw it over on Roshar. I'm in agreement with Kurk's thoughts on how things are defined by relationships. It seems like things in the spiritual are like a graph (in the mathematical sense), with ideals acting as nodes and connections acting as edges. Makes the term 'Spiritweb' much more meaningful to me. This makes me slightly more confident in my speculation that Forgery is mainly just shifting around the links between things/making certain connections stronger and weaker, with the Cognitive serving to fill in any gaps (for example, fleshing out false memories). As to Kaladin/Dalinar's everything's-black-but-I-can-still-see visions, I'm slightly less confident they were seeing the Spiritual now. Regarding the whole Forging a stained glass window, I feel like there still might be Cognitive influence which would serve to adapt any such creations to the local culture. The whole 'plausability' mechanic makes me feel like there's some sort of filtering going on somewhere that should influence the whole process, and apparently Shallan is good at art in part because her mind is closer to the Cognitive? I wonder what, exactly, this means for entering the Spiritual in the flesh. You can do it for the Cognitive, but I doubt you can do it for the Spiritual now.
