  1. "Oh yeah we burn metals in an actual furnace. What, none of your guys ever tried that?"

  2. I'm sure it has been discussed to death but... Having looked around and seen nothing I can agree with I wanted to kick around my initial thought on Sly's reaction to Dalnar's blade. Contrary to popular thought I don't think the problem is with the blade per say. Syl: "He's a good man. I've watched him. Despite that thing he carried." Kaladin: "That thing?" Syl: "The shardblade." Kaladin: "What do you care about it?" Sly: "I don't know. It just feels wrong to me. I hate it. I'm glad he got rid of it. I think what she hates the is the wrongness of it. She is still remembering more about her true self and her nature. I think deep down for her to see a shardblade used by one who has not KR is a perversion, more than tragic a mockery of what has been lost. Therefor in keeping with being a good man she is glad to see him give up something he (for the moment) has no right to have.

  3. It's basicly a pseudo american harry potter if squibs went to hogwarts, hermione and ron were one person and snape was good looking and evil the whole time. And i dusting loved it. I also love casting movies so its time to pick who you think should play the characters. Joel Melody - Jane Levy best known from Suburgatory and Fun Sized she is way olde rthan sixteen but plays younger than she is in both of the previously mentioned projects anyway. Fitch - Mark Ruffalo. I could be wrong but thats who I saw when I was reading the book. Especially during the whole you do my assignment ill do yours fitch is right there he can probably hear you "sure can" moment. Nalizar-Ryan Gosling. Melody went on and on about how good looking he was and thats who came to mind.

  4. The reason I favor time bubbles is because they appear to change the nature of spacetime, and so get around the light speed limit much like the Alcubierre drive does: by manipulating space.

  5. I'd speculate that identity attunement to feruchemy would involve a form of spiritual balance or a zen-type philosophical outlook. That attitude prevailed Terris culture. It could also be something like being born on Scadrial or living on the planet for a time. Back to the main post, I've always assumed Hoid was actively using lightweaving to change his appearance and Vin noticed the ripples of his actions with her double seeker powers.

  6. Brandon has said that FTL is possible with a novel interaction between feruchemy and allomancy that requires a "deep understanding" of the metallic arts that us readers don't yet have. That suggests without a complex use of both magics FTL isn't possible. We know the same limits on approaching the speed of light exist in the cosmere, and there is no reason to assume feruchemical steel changes the nature of light, or the shape of space-time. It is a fun theory, but doesn't seem to fit what we have been told.

  7. WARNING! A shameless plug for a personal theory is about to occur. Please take any safety precautions you deem necessary. If you like the idea of Hoid having an innate investiture that allows him to potentially use any shardic magic system, I invite you to peruse my 'Yolen DNA is Archetype DNA' conveniently accessed by clicking on the appropriate link in my signature below.

  8. I like a lot of your books. You have good taste. Also, Josh and I have too many bookshelves to take a picture of each of them. (Seriously. We have four that I can see just where I'm sitting. Six if I move a little bit. And those are just in the front area of the apartment.) However, considering what site this is, we figured we'd show you the "good stuff":
