  1. Hey guys. I was wondering if I could get an opinion on something from someone with a good eye for design. I am making a coffee table with a centerpiece based on the Allomantic Table from Sanderson's Mistborn books. Here is the centerpiece. It is 17" in diameter. The symbols are milled to 1/8" of an inch and I am going to be filling them with 1/8" inserts stained a different color. The trouble I am having is with the staining. I made a quick little model of the project in Google Sketchup with two different color schemes. Primarily light: Primarily dark: The model doesn't show the symbols, because I am using the free version of Google Sketchup, so i can't import the file, but you get the idea. Also, the two 6" squares on the sides will have the symbols for the two metals that don't fit in the standard diagram (Atium and Larasium). The symbols will be the opposite color of the circle or square they will be in. So... Which do you think looks better? If you have any other ideas, I would love to hear them to. Thanks for the help! (While typing this up I looked at the model again and I think I am leaning toward the first one, but I would still love to hear what people think.) (Also, I posted this same thing on the Dragonmount Crafter's board. So if you are a member there as well, you aren't going crazy.)

  2. Everyone, welcome Dan Wells, psychological horror author extraordinaire. With TWG closing its doors, we’re going to be hosting Dan’s forums for quite some time. His John Cleaver trilogy is amazing, and if you haven’t read it, you’re missing out.

  3. we started at level 5 or so, and the campaign ended at level 8 or 9. Also, in that same campaign, we ended up breaking the story line and then fixing it on our own. I'm not entirely sure how, but somehow we misinterpreted clues that pointed to "get information from the thieves guild leader because he's the resistance leader you're looking for" as "murder the thieves guild leader". Which we did. Then we found out that we were supposed to HELP him, not KILL him as the rest of his men were coming. So our nixie rogue ended up bluffing and enchanting our way out of it, making them think that an assassin came and we were too late to stop him and we had a fight with him before he escaped and rallied the thieves guild to our side and led them on a charge against their oppressors, which we quietly slipped on them on before they realized our lies and the enchantments faded.

  4. I hope they're just depowered, crazy and/or evil. Dead would be boring. I agree here. However finding them, then realising they're not heroes anymore THEN replacing them is probably the best option here. ;-)

  5. Hey, this topic is getting updated today! What does that make it, slightly less than two months? This is progress. I've labeled answers for questions that were resolved in the signing with Brandon and Peter Orullian. I think in the Fantasy Faction video interview there are good pronunciations from Brandon on these. I'll put the Jasnah part in, though. I'm not allowed to say much but you are onto something there. There is a logic to the glyphs. The latest interview (the one with Brandon and Peter Orullian) confirms they are representations of the Heralds. Not what they actually look like, but they do represent the Heralds. Great question. I'm going to distill this down to these two: 1. How human are the humans on each world? Could a "person" from Sel interbreed with a "person" from Nalthis? 2. If they can interbreed, would this person be able to access multiple worlds' magic systems? Or would one innate shard dominate over the other? Or would they be like a mule and be unable to breed again at all? That's all for now. If a specific theory generates a question in your mind, be sure to add it here. I may be too scatterbrained to remember to add them myself. Speaking of which, I do have additional questions to add to the list: The list is totaled at 161 questions.

  9. Thanks Chaos. IMO, I agree that the ambiguity exists in principle, but I think that in context, this actually supports his claim to have made humanity, if not as strongly as I had remembered. IIRC, Vorinism claims that he made everything, but given the existence of Cultivation, this seems unlikely. The Almighty limiting his claim to the creation of humanity, and telling the truth about it, makes much more sense.
