Here's something of what I've imagined when I think Alethi Spearman. Really light armored, dark-eye unit. This one's probably a particularly bad fighter, as he's totally opened himself up for a counter attack, but hey. He's got a great battle cry.

Great work I wish they had more armor though. Don't understand why they can't give their darkeyed sparemen more armor. What do you think the sheild would be made out off.

 I'm thinking that they'd outfit their Spearmen pretty light and cheap, just because they wouldn't put any great expense into low-caste soldiers. I figure the shield would be made out of wood, and banded with metal to lend it a bit more resilience.
