Shardkeepers Podcast: Arcanum Unbounded Essays

We said there would be a December episode, and here we are on New Year's Eve with one! This month we have an extra long episode as well: over an hour and twenty minutes digging through the Arcanum Unbounded essays and picking apart everything in them. Shockingly, we were more than able to talk about these for a very long time. We dig through each of Khriss's essays. I feel we could have even talked longer, but I'm sure we will mention them a lot in the future.

We also learn that I can't pronounce at least a thing, and Ian proves me wrong (fine, you win this time), showing he is probably the most competent one here.

Let us know what you think in our  forum thread: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/57421-shardkeepers-podcast-arcanum-unbounded-essays/

And if you hadn't seen it, the Star Chart.

Our Hosts: Kerry (KChan), Ian (WeiryWriter), David (Windrunner), and Eric (Chaos)

Ambition Investing in Threnody, if only slightly, could link up to what Nazh says to Kels about becoming a C-Shadow in SH, in that there are rituals and the like involved, making it sound like something to perhaps aspire or strive toward.

Doesn't the essay mention that Ambition was fatally wounded in the system? So could it be possible they suffered a Shardic bleed out of sorts after they left? As for the Shard in space, I'm of the opinion that would actually be Ambition, or rather, their corpse.

Perhaps a question to ask would be how much Investiture, compared Shard's full potential, is required to have a Perpendicularity form. Maybe then we can extrapolate Threnody's and FotS' Shardpool situation

The three domains on Sel may perhaps be inspired by certain empires that existed during the middle ages. The Fjorden one reminds me of the Holy Roman Empire centred around one religion and spreading it through the Crusades while the Rose Empire may be the Chinese Imperial Empire with a mixture of Eastern Europe like Russia and some of the Mongolian tribes. The empire may be close to what the Persian/Ottoman Empire was on Earth because there is a desert at the bottom of the map in the Tenth Anniversary Edition of Elantiris and the Persians had an empire that spread all the way to India with deserts and jungle. But I may be wrong. If I recall these empires kind of ignored each other on Earth right? Khriss mentions snow plains and I guess that would be the Rose Empire because it is found to the north of Teod etc. What do you think?

edit: I got so caught up discussing astronomy I forgot to mention that I appreciated the discussion of new WoBs about Autonomy. That tidbit about her wearing so many different faces really does provide interesting circumstantial evidence towards the discussion of Trell.

Trell is obviously and definitely Autonomy.
