Welcome back to Splintercast Reads Words of Radiance. My apologies; I've been away and Alyx has been busy. But we're back with daily episodes, and this time, with five chapters (though some are quite short)! Shallan does a thing. Gets Bluth feels. Alyx can't pronounce things. Everything you want out of Splintercast.

Apparently even I have missed it, so that means some of you have missed it too: the Words of Radiance midnight release is now uploaded!

We had technical difficulties actually streaming it, but we did record it. (Sorry about that.)

As you may or may not have known (Oh who am I kidding, you're here, you know.), but Words of Radiance came out last week. What you may or may not have known is that so far, it's been selling REALLY well.

Welcome back to the Splintercast Reads Words of Radiance! In this episode, we see chapters 16-18. More freakouts occur of Renarin. This should be entirely expected. Then other things happen. Because, you know, there's more audio and stuff.

Welcome back to The Splintercast Reads Words of Radiance. In this section, Alyx mentions Renarin and her RP group, Sydney Scroungers, in the first two minutes. If you don't know Alyx, well, I need to tell you something. She really, really likes Renarin. You know how Wit enjoys mockery so much? Alyx loves Renarin even more, and while you think I'm joking, well... you just keep listening to Splintercast and I think you'll see I am not at all.

We have a treat for you today. Our illustrious and radiant (see what I did there?) Alyx, also known as FeatherWriter, is doing a very special podcast series where she records her live reactions as she reads Words of Radiance for the very first time. There is crying. There is sobbing. Fangirling. Descent into sleep-deprived madness. It's everything you'd ever want from a reaction podcast, and I guarantee 40% more people will fall in love with her than before (in which case, back off.).

If you're in the US, Words of Radiance is out right storming now. Did you know Brandon has never gotten #1 on the New York Times bestseller list? It's time to fix that.

Is it shipping to you at the moment? Well, go to your favorite ebook retailer--Amazon, Nook, Google Play, iBooks, and Dragonmount--to grab it and devour it. You're on 17th Shard on release day, so obviously you aren't reading it. You should fix that. And if you're not in the US, I certainly wouldn't suggest that maybe you could fool those servers by pretending you are in the US, but, hey. I didn't suggest it either, so that's plausible deniability right there.

This is last minute, but: the release party at BYU tonight will be livestreamed! It is my understanding this will happen via Google+ Hangouts on Air, so it should be accessible from Brandon's Youtube or his Google+ page. We will keep you updated and edit this post with the exact livestream link when the time comes!

You know how when Tor posted sample chapters of Words of Radiance, they skipped Chapter 7? Well, you can at last know what happens, as it has now been posted. You don't get to read it, but you do get to listen to it, at least the first part of it.

Words of Radiance comes out in just a few days. On Tuesday, March 4th, the wait will be over--well, for those in the US. Sorry everyone else But what if you missed some of the preview Words of Radiance content? Fear not, for we have you covered, to hopefully sate you over from the hype you might be feeling.

It's safe to say that Words of Radiance has the most pre-release hype of any of Brandon's solo works to-date. And it makes sense. The Way of Kings was Brandon's best work at the time, and so everyone is wondering, will Words of Radiance live up to the high bar set by book one? This is a sequel that has a ton riding on it. After all, despite the first book's length, there's still so much more of Roshar to explore. There's so many places that The Stormlight Archive can go from here, that it has been hard to predict what would happen in this book, much less a few books down the line. Words of Radiance could fall on its face. So, does it live up to the hype?

Crafty Games has revealed what the first supplement to the Mistborn Adventure Game will be: Terris: Wrought of Copper. We at 17th Shard had thought its next supplement would be an Alloy of Law-era one, but this is not the case. That doesn't mean we aren't excited--to the contrary! Crafty Games has worked with Brandon to develop material that provides a detailed look at the Terris Dominance and its people, which is definitely not something we saw much of in the original trilogy.

There are multiple new items in Brandon's excellent store. Just in time for Words of Radiance, there are multiple Stormlight related things in the store. You can get both t-shirts and decals of the Stormlight Archive symbol (seen here), as well as the Bridge Four Glyph. You can also get an actual patch of the Bridge Four glyph, just like Kaladin gets in Book Two. Finally, you can get a beanie with Kaladin's slave brands on it. Check out below for images of all the awesomeness. Looking at the Bridge Four t-shirt, it is pretty darn slick. It's hard to zoom in and see, but the Bridge Four symbol there is made up of the Second Ideal of the Windrunners. Sweet!

Words of Radiance is very much a real thing, and you can see how large it is on this lovely image of Brandon's agent, Joshua, being crushed by the mighty tome. If you didn't know, Words of Radiance is actually longer than A Memory of Light and previous reigning champion of doorstops, The Way of Kings. Words of Radiance is even better at clubbing your opponents unconscious*. And as we are getting closer to release, we now have information on the release events for the book.

We have a scoop for you today: a new edition of the first Mistborn novel is coming out May 13th, 2014. Now it's going to be marketed towards teen readers, as evidenced by its new, lower age range, as well as mentioning his other teen book from Tor, The Rithmatist, on the cover. The synopsis has less emphasis on Kelsier and the setting, and focuses on Vin, which is sure to appeal to teen readers more. It also includes the cover that was previously found on the Mistborn ebook trilogy, which is some of our favorite cover art for Mistborn.

Today Tor unveiled the book tour for Words of Radiance! We've added all of the events to our calendar, which will also appear on the main forum sidebar when the events get closer, so you won't miss a thing here!

Tis a sad day for us all. For while there are brand new Words of Radiance sample chapters, Brandon said on his most recent blog that this is going to be the last of them.

So, rejoice, as there is more awesome Words of Radiance content! Then, weep because we have to wait till March 4th to read the rest of the book.

Of course you were thrilled by the awesomeness of the first bit of Words of Radiance, and you just can't wait for more. Well lucky for you, Tor has the next three chapters up!

Guess what? It is January 2014, which means Words of Radiance is coming out in just two months. In fact, if you follow the social medias, you already know that Words of Radiance is basically done (just the final proofs need to be turned in, and then it is done). So you know what that means: new sample chapters.

I know you want a Steelhunt code. I want one too! And, well, to make sure everyone in this wonderful community of ours gets on (so that we can stop trying to police the topics) we reached out to team Sanderson to see what we could do.

Tonight, we have not one, but two amazing announcements. Not only did Writing Excuses win the Hugo for Best Related Work, but the Emperor's Soul won the Hugo in the category of Best Novella!

Much as he did with Infinity Blade: Awakening, Brandon's snuck up on us again with another surprise novella set in the Infinity Blade world. It's called Infinity Blade: Redemption, and it's available for preorder today! The ebook itself will be released on September 3rd. Brandon wrote this as a side project, to refresh himself in between larger works.

It has just been announced today by Tor that Words of Radiance, which had been tentatively scheduled for release in January, will be delayed to March 4th, 2014. Brandon is obviously working very hard at the anticipated sequel to The Way of Kings, and has finished the first draft. A lot is done, but revision is really tough, especially when you consider that Words of Radiance is about the length of A Memory of Light.

Tor.com has finally posted the cover for Words of Radiance! The second cover for the Stormlight Archive was also drawn by the phenomenally talented Michael Whelan. The front cover depicts Kaladin crouched on the Shattered Plains, facing Szeth standing on a pile of corpses, including some potential corpses in Plate.
