    What is wax?

But, to get back to my original post, it seems that no, we do not have a definitive answer to the question. No WOB or in-text explanation anywhere. (I've been away from Sanderson readings for a while so didn't know if anything had come out in the last couple years)

    What is wax?

I assume that we still do not have an definitive answer to "Why is Wax such a good shot?"
  3. I feel like I'm the only person who was deeply disappointed by the whole Kelsier Behind The Scenes Reveal. Here was my reaction in a nutshell: "You mean there was sub-story during Well of Ascension and Hero of Ages that it was NOT POSSIBLE TO UNDERSTAND given the text of the two novels?" Sure, it was nice to see some cosmere stuff, but it seems like Brandon just pulled an "Oh, by the way." Deeply disappointed is my reaction. Also exhausted because I don't want to have to reread all of his other books in order to understand what's going on in the novella. I guess that's what this forum is for.
  4. Who do we know is a pewter savant?
  5. I just re-read Shadows of Self and at one time, Paalm says (paraphrasing) that Wayne is Hamony's creature, just like Wax. It made me wonder if Wayne is spiked somewhere and we just don't know about it. He's not a Pathian, so he doesn't have an earring.
  6. In his Alloy of Law annotations, Brandon states that the steel bubble is an effect of Wax being a steel savant.
  7. It took me an awful long time to realize that the earring Wax was given by Melaan must be a spike of some sort. Probably pewter? Wax did manage to keep going during Alloy of Law after some terrible beatings. However, he also managed to do so during Shadows while *not* wearing the earring. Maybe he's just an all around awesome tough guy.
  8. Somebody clue me in to what Remarked Duplicity was referring to. I didn't spend much time trying to puzzle it out at the time and now I'm too wiped out to go back and reread in context.
  9. Being a steel savant makes the most sense. Do you think he's a savant due to his steel "bubble" use? Continuous protection against bullets leads to savant status? Where are his side effects?
  10. Oh well. Perfectly good theory ruined by facts.
  11. I thought about the "double steel" spike possibility, but I don't feel any of the above explanations really get to the heart of the matter. He is an unusually skilled gunman by the standards of the world, and Harmony expressly states he can only interfere so much. Side topic: Who thinks Bloody Tan was burning atium? EDIT: or someother time-future-sense from newly forming God Metal?
  12. I piece of speculation that I have *not* seen is why Wax is so good with his hand guns. He can make impossible shots. Even Miles Hundredlives comments on it. So why is Wax so good with it? It's obviously not just because he's a Coinshot or it wouldn't be a point of discussion with the other characters.
  13. Elhokar has a dead larkin? I missed that. Where is it in the text?
  14. [WoR SPOILERS] I have a quibble with the end of the book, where Kaladin saves Dalinar from plummeting to his doom. How exactly did Kaladin do that? To that point of the novel, I don't remember Kaladin having ever first-Lashed an object that wasn't himself. Is this a mistake on Brandon's part?
