  1. Huh... That was way less exciting than I thought.. Because people always write things like "In Doctor Who fandom we.." etc. And I'm like how do you know? I don't know what I thought.. But more like being part of something I guess...I don't know any geeks in real life, so I don't really feel like I'm part of any fandoms... Even though I'm big fan of many things...
  2. DC just rebooted with DC You so you can start there and Marvel is about to reboot just now, when Secret Wars ends. For Marvel you can also subscribe to Marvel Unlimited, which lets you read their 6months+ old comics on your tablet for 10$ monthly fee (pretty much Netflix for Marvel comics). That app has curated introductions to pretty much all characters and stuff.
  3. I read Emperors Soul before Elantris and I got the easter eggs and connections afterwards, while reading Elantris.. It's rewarding that way too, and it also made me want to re-read Emperors Soul, which I rarely want to do, even with Sanderson.
  4. What do you have tomdo to be considred part of "fandom"? Like, is posting here enough to be part of Cosmere fandom? I've never relly learned this.. I feel bit of an outsider in real world, and even in geek world.. I've never attended Star Wars convention but I've read EU and new canon for years, am I in Star Wars fandom? Or... I read couple of fantasy sites like redditfantasy,Tor and Fantasyfaction. Am I in fantasy fandom? Does each fandom have a site or forum you go to?
  5. My username is the lamest possible.. It's made by merging my real first and last names, and adding some letters to add fantasy feel, and as I look back, it didn't even succeed particularly well, but I'm kinda stuck with it (I originally made it for D&D or some game, not sure which was first)....
  6. I like Marvel comics a lot, like 90% of them, but I have very hard time getting into ANY DC comic for some reason, only small exception being some Superman stuff. I've tried, just now I tried again with DC You, as I don't particularly want to be the "Marvel > DC,lol" guy, but that's just how it is... Has anyone else experienced the same?
  7. I have really fond memories of Pokemon first and second generation (especially first, when everything was fresh), but revisiting that world as an adult was big mistake. The TV series is pretty bad in hindsight, basically just big repetitive commercial, and the games are basically the biggest grindfests to ever grace mainstream gaming. Lesson learned, don't re-visit things you loved as a teenager... I've heard the TCG holds up bit better, but why bother really.. when Hearthstone and Magic exist. I think I won't introduce this franchise to my children, I'm happy that their generation has bit less commercial stuff available, like Minecraft, where you don't just repeat same thing over and over.
  8. Fantasy is easily my favorite genre, but I occasionally read literary fiction too. Literary fantasy makes me bored though, I want either good escapism or real world stuff, nothing in between. Otherwise I like most subgenres, from urban fantasy to epic fantasy. I prefer well-written traditional stuff with clear heroes though. Fantasy has spoiled thriller, mystery and historical fiction for me too, they make me bored too, as they feel like fantasy without fantasy to me... Sometimes I read sci-fi, but only when it focuses on adventure and wonder before technical details...
  9. It's better than learning of this site ages ago but finding it too complex and giving up.. (me) You are lucky to have so much Sanderson ahead of you. Not that he keeps us waiting for new material, but still..
  10. Well that was quick. Name of the Wind.. I'm not a Harry Potter superfan but I AM upset that it wouldn't be on the list... And I do like Name of the Wind so I guess I'm fine with this. I was hoping for Way of Kings of course.
  11. I wouldn't call myself a brony, but I liked first 2 seasons of FiM a lot, visited Equestria Daily etc... But during season 3 I lost interest. Anyway, my explanation is that both worlds make you feel good, Sanderson in a different way (there might be sadness on the way), but in the end good always wins.
  12. My dream job is teacher of literature and I'm finally studying to become one (at first I studied engineering as my parents wished), but there's one more obstacle to overcome - competition for these jobs is tough where I live and I have speech impediment, which isn't dream quality in a teacher... I guess my realistic dream job is to work in library or bookstore..
  13. I don't watch much anime and only anime I've watched this year just ended.. Ore Monogatari. My Love Story. Are there any other feelgood romantic comedies like it (that don't have perverted things)?
