  1. I absolutely agree with all of you. What really draws me to Brandon's writing, to his style. Is the humor in many of his characters, it isn't always overt or laugh out loud sort of humor, but ironic, even cynical humor that I totally identify with and that gives balance to the drama of the story line itself. And of course, the fact that by the end of the book I'm pounding my head off the wall wondering how I didn't see it coming. How he builds and builds and builds and even shows me everything I need to know, but then when he reveals the solution to the problem, I am left completely blown away. I am the sort of person who usually falls for side characters, the mysterious characters that we don't know that much about, but that I want to see in the spot light.....Brandon gives me main characters to love and adore. Kelsier, Kaladin, and of course Lightsong. Just to name a few. Studying his writing and listening to his podcasts have taught me more about my chosen craft, than most of the 4 years of studying and writing on my own.
  2. Well I would say Brandon is much more of a workaholic than most writers, so I REALLY hope SL 2 will be soon following, coming out around spring 2013. Having two books come out in the same year would be sweet! Helluva great way to start the year.
  3. Unfortunately Memory of Light isn't actually scheduled for 2012....(it was) though I hope they push the date up to at least Christmas 2012....I read the other day that it's planned for January 8th 2013. Here's the link. Though perhaps I am out of some sort of loop, as I am new here. http://www.brandonsanderson.com/blog/1058/A-MEMORY-OF-LIGHT-Release-Date
  4. Robert Jordan got me into reading. When I picked up EoW I was forever changed. I didn't get into Brandon's books until I found out he was continuing WoT for Mr. Jordan. I picked up Elantris after reading Gathering Storm and I never looked back. I've read nearly everything Mr. Sanderson has written now. Soon the word "nearly" will not be in that sentence.
  5. Thanks Everyone... Hoid lover that I am, I am in good company here.
  6. Kaladin: "Kaladin. And yours?" Wit: "I've many. I began life as a thought, a concept, words on a page. That was another thing I stole. Myself. Another time, I was named for a rock." Kaladin: "A pretty one, I hope." Wit: "A beautiful one. And one that became completely worthless for my wearing it." -pg 801 WoK I can't believe it took me this long to join here, being a huge fan of Brandon's books, of his writing style and of his hands on interaction with his fans. Happy to be here, and all that.
