Speaking of the Lord Ruler's children, I did get a big smile when I asked if his daughter's name was Lutha. There was also a question about whether the God King's breath was removed "surgically." I don't remember the exact word used, The answer was no but Brandon said it was a great question. I'm amazed at how well the recording turned out. There was one person sitting nearby who spent a great deal of time loudly declaiming about how they weren't a reader and didn't care about "all these authors". There were a lot of questions that I couldn't hear, and I was sitting right there. I was sure that much of the recording would be useless. But Brandon was great; he always spoke clearly over everything else.

Greetings! So here are the recordings of the reading/Q&A and the signing line, respectively. And here is a doc that people can use for transcription. This was my first time at a major con and my first time seeing Brandon Sanderson. The weekend was great. At the opening ceremonies Brandon came and sat down right next to me, and it was all fantastic from there. Getting to record the signing was a dream come true; as I've been living overseas for a number of years and unable to actually come to signings myself, I've really enjoyed the tradition of people recording and posting them. So thanks to all the people who've done that for the last three years! @Kurkistan He said that someone in Poland had figured it out who the Terriswoman in Warbreaker was and I asked him if it was Lemex' nurse, and he nodded and smiled. He said he had no idea how anyone figured it out, which is interesting.

We know that Threnody isn't a primary Shardworld but don't we know (or assume, or think it's likely that...) there is a splinter on it? Since the Elantrians are obviously worried about people from Threnody (possibly shades), it could be that Fortune is the splinter on Threnody.

The Elantrians use it, but I think that either Ati or Leras uses it, too. Either way, it's not a Scadrial term. Also, how do we know that the whole "Vessel" thing in Warbreaker isn't foreshadowing...

Notice, too, that that extreme curvature is caused by the highly energetic nature of the black hole. The incredible amount of energy (in this case, gravity) creates the singularity/perpendicularity. Supposedly, a huge amount of any kind of energy would have the same effect. This is definitely analogous to Shardpools, where the presence of an incredible amount of Investiture causes the perpendicularity. Also, even in a 3D (or 4D, or whatever) mathematical model of black holes, they are still "perpendicular" to normal spacetime. Or, rather, they approach perpendicularity asymptotically, but whatever.

Irich could have been a Twinborn. Or his ailment could be something else entirely, and Lady Shores' goldmind came from Templeton Fig's wife, Destra. After all, Irich's description of his weakness doesn't compare that well to Wayne's description of storing health. I'm not 100% sold on this idea, but it does seem like something the Set would do. Forcing Bloodmakers to constantly store health so that people who have been spiked can tap it...yeah. That requires 2 bloodmakers, though. One to spike and one to constantly store health. But that's the only way you can give someone healing with no down sides.

I wonder if it has to do with filling generic metalminds? I'm still a confused as to how Lady Shores had a goldmind full of huge amounts of health... It could be from Destra.

I'm definitely interested. I am looking for a closer, more constructive writing group for sure. I write regularly and I'm a good critique-er/editor.

Hey, are we allowed to recruit beta readers for a completed novel on these boards? I'd be willing to send my book to anyone who wants to read it, provided they're willing to give useful critique and/or feedback.

I'm so confused by the cookies and root beer. Don't get me wrong, they are two of my favorite things in the whole universe. Separately, of course, and only chocolate chip cookies, but still.

Hello, 17th Shard! First, I just want to thank all of you for how you've illuminated our beloved Brandon Sanderson's work, finding the clues that I never would have noticed on my own. You've taught me what to look for, and given my own theory engine a constant (and somewhat time consuming) source of fuel. Consider this a heartfelt "Thank You All!" Let me tell you a little about myself. I'm a US citizen but I've lived most of my adult life abroad. I've primarily taught high school (mostly mathematics and science, though I've also done history and English, and even elementary from time to time) in the Caribbean and South America. I think of myself as a pretty adventurous person. I've been married for going on five years and I have a master's degree in a language related field. I've been widely known as a storyteller since I was a teenager and I started writing down (as opposed to composing) original stories about 10 years ago. I write primarily literary fantasy and science fiction, as well as other genres with a sci-fi twist. I'm big on worldbuilding and deep background, exploring major themes, and significant interconnectedness. I haven't published anything yet but I'm planning to change that. I am, of course, a big fan of Mr Sanderson's writing. I originally discovered Brandon Sanderson's work when he was announced to complete the Wheel of Time, but I didn't really dig into his books until after A Memory of Light. And I was, as most of us were, completely blown away. I read the Mistborn trilogy first and the ending absolutely changed the way I approach the modern fantasy scene. I'm deeply indebted to Mr Sanderson for rekindling both my enjoyment of and my belief in fantasy as a living genre. I feel that he is really taking fantasy in the direction that I believe it should be going, and he has given me the courage to finally make my own contribution. The reason I've decided to go ahead and post here is that I decided a few months ago to start actually putting my writing out there. I have a project that I wrote last summer that I'm planning on self-publishing in the next few months. I am hoping to find some encouragement and, hopefully, some beta readers who would be willing to help me make the next few steps. I tend to be very retiring about my work, so this is a big step for me. I will be posting (somewhere... I think I saw a sub-forum for writing groups before) asking for volunteers for beta readers. I'd certainly be interested in joining a writing group if there's an active one. I'm certainly not trying to advertise or anything, just looking to join a community of like-minded enthusiasts. The 17th Shard has been so beneficial to me so far, I just feel that this is one of the best places to ask for beta readers. So, thanks again and, well, hi! The Hunter
