Finally got around to reading WOR. I loved the book and couldn't put it down for 4 days! I'd convinced myself not to read any series that weren't completed due to my frustration with asoif. I'm glad I changed my mind. I've read most of the responses in this thread and have just a few comments. The first is related to those that are disappointed in no major pov characters dying. I've always felt the grrm style is an easy/cheap way to force out an emotional response from the reader by killing a main character (out maybe I'm still bitter over Ned Stark lol). I'm not saying a main character should ever die, but I prefer to look at an epic story as a decision to start with characters that make it to the end, and describe their path. To clarify, if I ever wrote my own epic, I'd take the characters that I plan to be key to the final outcome, and tell their story from the beginning. I'm not saying every character I'd start with would survive the entire time, but that I'd want as much of the backstory for the final protagonists/antagonists known from beginning to end. By saying this I simply mean to convey that I'm glad Dalinar, Adolin, etc survived thus far. As for my own thoughts - I'd assumed Jasnah had survived in shadesmar due to the mystery and quickness if her death - especially being such a main character whose final dead body was never seen. I'd actually thought Kaladin would have a confrontation with Szeth where he convinced him the Knights were refounded (breaking his truthless oath), then persuaded him to teach everything he knew about lashings. I was way off on that lol I actually was surprisingly into Shallan's character this book (not the flashbacks, but the current events). The Kadolin, Adolin, Shallan triangle does make me uncomfortable. Ok so I'd like to add more, but getting called to bed by the wife, but I look forward to pouring through this site for more information about the cosmere!
