  1. I know it's impossible to tell at this point (I also don't know if it's been talked about here before), but the use of Allomancy and "faster-than-light" travel through space is really bugging me (from a physics point of view). The thing is, given that nothing in our universe as we know it can travel faster than light, there are only a few logical possibilities of what happens: 1) Time as we know it stops; 2) You travel so fast that planets die within a short amount of your time (for instance, the light speed in Star Wars would've made it so Vader was dead by the time they made it to the Death Star); or 3) You teleport instantaneously. I've been trying to figure it all out by myself, but besides being given the fantasy element, there has to be some sort of scientific logic behind it. I can't really see myself believing any of it otherwise. Or am I just digging too deep at too early of a time?
  2. Something that I wondered - would stabbing a withering part get rid of the withering, but still wound? Or could you just rub the flat of the blade?
  3. Well, Steelheart was published by Delacorte Press, so maybe he was trying to branch out. After all, Tor was still publishing Wheel of Time as well, and I haven't seen any signs of financial trouble from them. He could've just been making sure they don't get a monopoly on his books.
  4. Cool. So we'll have it a lot sooner than expected? I'm excited to see the new editions.
  5. Probably because he updated the advancement bars for the drafts of newer books. I'm still not sure why Sixth of the Dusk is on there after being published, but it seems the bar's been kind of wonky lately. Tor has the rights to them now? A couple years ago or so he said book 5 would be on his website after taking the rights back from Scholastic, but now it sounds like it's going to have a physical copy.
  6. That makes sense. I guess I wasn't reading carefully enough. It didn't seem explained very much.
  7. I finished Elantris a week or two ago, but I'm still confused about the Shaod. Is it like a withdrawal from AonDor? If it were like that, then why do new Elantrians get it? Also, why is it so particular on choosing people?
  8. But this is the one with the altar scene, finally. Considering that he's done readings from book 5 before, I suppose we could have it published on his site within a couple years.
  9. She's cool, *even* though she killed her parents. She's had (in my mind) the most interesting journey of all the characters. Also, I didn't expect to root for her and Adolin's relationship (even though I hate romance), and she has the two best characters in the book as friends (Pattern and Stick).
  10. Okay, so apparently I'm the only whose favorite is Ashe... But behind him, probably Kaise and Daorn. I don't know why. But I'm excited to see them as ~20-year-olds come Elantris 2.
