  1. Thanks, I've been lurking for the better part of a year, but now I've read everything Cosmere that's published (Plus Liar and White Sand), I thought it was time to weigh in! I've been reading all this time as though Cultivation was shattered, I figured the Nightmother (is that what she's called?) was analagous to the Stormfather-Honor relationship. Woops, that does blow a Hoid-sized hole in my theory. I was going to go on and say that he completely meets "Life before Death" and "Strength before Weakness", but he's already made it crystal clear to the protagonists that he's all about the destination. If everything else stood up though, I'd be all for him having the Elsecaller Honorblade. It would certainly make his travel easier, assuming he doesn't already have a magic specifically geared to Worldhopping that doesn't involve the pools at all (although I'm not at all ready to dismiss that one).
  2. My answer varies based on how I interpret the question, so there are three answers to be had: If we work on having two copies of what one person on each planet can possibly have, then like most it's all about the TLR Fullborn (failing that, it's a tough choice but I'd go for a full Mistborn over a Feru) plus AonDor to add in teleportation, healing of others, and the ability to blast enemies away in the unlikely event that there's no metal to be found. If Aons can create food, presumably they can make metals, as well? A step further is if we only take on what people can realistically achieve rather than the exceptional. In this case it's a tough one but it has to be double Zinc and Awakening. Think about it for a moment; stored mental speed to allow for extremely perceptive rioting, edging people towards handing over their Breath. Live becomes pretty cushy pretty quickly. The last one, and the one I feel most accurately answers the question is to consider Twinborns an abomination of two magic systems (haha). With that in mind, it's all about the Soulbearer-Elsecaller. Store up as much Stormlight as your Soulcast crapton of Nicrosil can hold, and you're set way up until the next Highstorm. You can Soulcast anything your whims call for, you can travel the world (and others) until your heart is content, and you essentially heal constantly and would be functionally immortal. Truth be told, I think the lack of super-overpoweredness makes the Soulbearer-Elsecaller that much more interesting. Dibs, and voted.
  3. Apologies if this has been suggested before, but I've been thinking along the following lines for a while: Let's assume for a moment that the Shardpools are used for Worldhopping, or at least entrance to the Shadesmar to facilitate Worldhopping (I agree that it was Hoid who Rock ran in to coming away from the Purelake). Let's also assume that a large part of why it's so difficult to work with Shadesmar on Sel is because the Aona is shattered. Perhaps getting there isn't the problem, it's leaving that's the issue. I feel that the teleportation Aon (can't remember the name at the moment) is the key to getting off Sel (and how Hoid managed to leave); I would expect Hoid/Gal to be able to work out the distance needed to get to another Shardworld, and we know that Aons are at full power at the heart of Elantris and only become weak/negligible at the other end of the jump. Continuing on from this long line of mindless conjecture, Cultivation/Honor are also shattered, which would leave the Shardpool(s) on Roshar in a similar state to Sel (arrival only). Since he's so far from Elantris, he couldn't teleport without epic jury-rigging, and we don't know the limits of Elsecalling as of yet, but I suspect the key is here. This could also be the reason that Wit/Hoid has spent so much freaking time on Roshar, given that Rock met him many years ago, as did Shallan. Perhaps it's simply that hard for him to gain the power of an Elsecaller, or perhaps it's impossible given that he already has Lightweaving from Yolen and that interferes with him gaining anything other than those of a Truthcaller/Lightweaver? I realise this became multiple theories at once, but once I started... Anyway, first post over.
