  1. PARANATURAL! Also happy birthday.

    1. AonEne

You'll probably never see this, I just wanted to yell in happiness at Isaac.

  2. Misguided, definitely. I personally found it quite difficult to like her after she called Siri a slut. I understand why she did it, but oooohhhhh I bristled. However, she seemed to genuinely care for Lightsong and for the city.
  3. Yes. A thousand times, yes. Also, no one has mentioned Neil Gaiman, to my knowledge. Neverwhere, American Gods, and Anansi Boys wonderfully bring mythology into the present day, and Gaiman is always good for clever twists, great dialogue, dark humor, and interesting characters. This may be the wrong board to recommend these books since they aren't in the same genre at all, but Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke is a beautiful fantasy that makes you fall in love with the old folk tales and fairy stories all over again. I can't praise it enough. And if you've never read anything by David Mitchell, you are truly missing out. His style is completely his own, varying wildly depending on who the narrator is. More than any author I've ever read, he disappears into his characters, and his prose is always beautiful. He includes fantasy and sci fi elements in his novels, especially Cloud Atlas, but I wouldn't call him a fantasy author. I recommend anything he writes, especially Cloud Atlas and Black Swan Green. I'm sure these aren't perfect, but if there's a flaw, I can't find it anywhere. He also loves to give characters from his books cameos in his other books, and it's always in a clever, unexpected way that gives you an insight into that character.
  4. Here's a simple game I've enjoyed playing in forums in the past: It begins by someone posting a song title, for example Blackbird - The Beatles. The next person posts a different song title that connects to the first somehow. For instance, Paranoid - Black Sabbath, Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd, or Roustabout - Beats Antique would all work as following posts. The game continues for as long as people wish to continue posting. So, I'll start us off: The Wait - School of Seven Bells
  5. I prefer silence when reading because if I like a song I'll get distracted, and before you know it I've read one paragraph five times and don't remember it at all..... But if I do listen to music, I prefer classical piano. Debussy, especially. Also, Brian Eno's album Plateaux of Mirror works quite nicely.
  6. Ah, thank you very much. Kaladin flying over the Shattered Plains Kaladin and Syl hovering peacefully over the Plains Shallan drawing Pattern while creationspren appear around her
  7. Jasnah and Lopen! Oh, that idea makes me so happy, though I'm not too sure why..... He'd definitely help her lighten up a bit, at least. Out of all the characters that have been introduced so far, if Jasnah were even to HAVE a love interest within the course of this series (which I personally doubt will happen), I could most see her falling in love with Hoid. All the other male characters are related to her, or not on the same level with her intellectually. Hoid has a mind at least equal to hers, millennia's worth of knowledge, and insane musical talent. What's not to love?
  8. Ah, ok. I tried to post a few links and ended up embedding the videos instead. I'm not the most computer savvy person in the world, so how would one go about posting a link rather than embedding a video? And how could i make that link appear as text rather than simply a youtube address?
  9. My name is Andrew, and I love discovering and analyzing the ways we are all connected. This trait bleeds into my enjoyment of fiction, so the Cosmere makes every nerdy cell in my body overload with delight. Fantasy is also my favorite genre by far. The real world is just too....real sometimes. So, when I discovered Brandon Sanderson a couple years ago, it was a literary match made in the Tranquiline Halls. Ever since, I have endeavored to spread the joy of Sanderson far and wide. I love discussing the Cosmere, and have painfully few people with whom I can . So! I'm very excited to be a part of this community, and I look forward to many great discussions with you all.
