Hoid's Guitar is Awakened

I was re listening to WoR, and the way Kaladin describes Hoid telling the Fleet story struck me as odd. He describes it as extra hands playing, and that it didn't sound possible for so much music to come out of it. Plus, Hoid looks at the guitar fondly after he finishes. Both, are odd. Clearly, we know Hoid has breath. He knows how to awaken stuff. It seems pretty likely that he decided to awaken his guitar to make it make cooler music.

That does sound like a very Hoid thing to do.

Plus he probably needed a different cool instrument to show off after Kaladin lost his flute.

Maybe that's special about the flute? It's Awakened as well?

Questioner

Are we going to see Hoid's flute again?

Brandon Sanderson

Hoid is very disappointed in the loss of his flute and would like to recover it.

Is the flute that Vin saw in the Lord Ruler's secret room in [Well of Ascension] the same flute that Hoid gives to Kaladin in [The Way of Kings]?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

RAFO. The origins of that flute will be revealed at some point.

Will Kaladin ever get Wit's flute back to woo a certain red haired young lady?

Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)

Wit is very mad about Kaladin losing the flute. If he recovers it, he wouldn't let Kaladin have it again.

So long as the guitar strings aren’t made of metal like most modern ones are, I’d say they are a prime candidate for awakening.

Hoid totally would do it, too.

He might also be able to use Lightweaving to somehow enhance the sound of his playing though, if the radiant power is an indication.

I would guess is flute is primarily sentimental in value to Hoid, but it might additionally be invested.

As a guitarist who plays classical music, I understood what was being described.

Classical guitar playing is one person,  one instrument and one melody. Playing the bass, rhythm and lead all in one.

As a guitarist of 28 years, watching someone play a classical piece is as amazing as playing it.
