We know the following:

*Autonomy (held by Bavadin, is located on the planet Taldain, featured in White Sand)

*Honor (held by Tanavast, located on Roshar, featured in Stormlight)

*Cultivation (the vessels name is unknown, but she was Tanavasts lover, and is also on Roshar)

*Odium (held by Rayse, has a beef with Hoid, splinters other Shards and is currently trapped on Braize. Featured in Stormlight).

*Dominion (held by Skai, located on Sel, until he was killed and splintered by Odium).

*Devotion (held by Alona, also on Sel, and got killed by Odium too. The remains of Dominion and Devotion play a part in Elantris).

*Ambition (got killed by Odium, but parts of the Shard influences Threnody, a planet which can be seen in the short-story Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell).

*Endowment (held by Edgli, located on the planet Nalthis, featured in Warbreaker).

*Ruin (held by Ati, located on Scadrial, featured in Mistborn).

*Preservation (held by Leras, located on Scadrial, featured in Mistborn).

And then there is one more. Mistborn spoiler:

Spoiler

Harmony, a Shard created when Ruin and Preservation merged into one. Also on Scadrial.

As for how you recognize a Cosmere book... if a guy named Hoid is in there somewhere, it is defenitely Cosmere. Otherwise, it can be hard to tell without a Google-search, but the following books/series are currently part of the Cosmere (spoilered for lenght)

Spoiler

*Stormlight (this includes the Edgedancer novella)

*Mistborn (this includes the novellas Secret History, Allomancer Jak and The Eleventh Metal).

*Elantris (includes the Emperors Soul novella).

*Warbreaker

*White Sand (these are graphic novels).

*Sixth of the Dusk (novella)

*Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell (novella).

Preservation, Ruin, Honor, Cultivation, Odium, Autonomy, Ambition, Devotion, Dominion, and Endowment.

Slight spoiler for Mistborn

Spoiler

Preservation and Ruin are now Harmony

Look for a character named Hoid, he is normally a beggar, storyteller, or he normally insults people all the time. That is how you can tell a book is Cosmere. You can also look for a specific mention of the Cosmere. Adonalsium is another way to tell, as well as mentions of Investiture.

Rithmatist and Reckoners are not Cosmere.

So far, all of his non-Cosmere works have referenced Earth in some way (alternate universe, historically, currently, etc), or have been written as part of a specific other series (WoT, Infinity Blade, etc).  So that's the easiest way to tell for now.

To add a bit to the discussion of the Shards, while we know ten by name, world and (aside from Cultivation) by the name of their Vessel, we also know a very small amount of information on at least one other Shard. Brandon has told us that there is one shard that just wants to hide and survive. He's also told us that this 'survival' thing is only tangentially related to its Intent, mostly it is just aware of Odium going on a Shard Murder Spree and is smart enough to want to avoid that. There is also a Shard that is not currently on a planet which is probably a separate Shard but all we can say for certain about this one is that it's not Ambition.

there could be one more shard potentially trying to cause problems on Scadrial, but thats not certain by any means.

Questioner [PENDING REVIEW]

In the past, you have said... that we've seen a metal that is from a Shard that we know, on Scadrial. You said Wax has seen the influence of a Shard other than Preservation, Ruin, or Harmony, and that the spike that Bleeder was using was a metal from a Shard we know. It seems like there's another Shard influencing Scadrial. Is Trell an extension of that?

Brandon Sanderson [PENDING REVIEW]

Yes.

There is a Shard that is on Scadrial going by the name of Trell, but it is a Shard we already know. There was an original WoB a long time back that asked this question and we didn't know about Ambition yet, so it can't be her. The most likely theory is that Trell is Autonomy.

Is the unknown Shard actually ON Scadrial though? I was under the impression that Harmony has so far managed to keep it away.

A "certain object" likely contained investiture from the attacking shard, so yes, technically the shard is on the planet, or at least a small piece. Now whether or not the main body/core of the shard is on Scadrial, or even in the system, is unknown.
