As a fan of cooperative games and of simultaneous play, this looks like a lot of fun to me. I can definitely see how the difficulty level will ratchet quickly, and how a situation can easily spiral out of control.

I wonder how forgiving the game is--of mistakes, inexperience (if introducing new players), or bad rolls. The 40 life threshold seems low to me for how hard the epics (especially Steelheart) are to kill, but I trust that they've been play testing this thoroughly and know their stuff.

It does look like a lot of physical pieces to keep track of. Not a bad thing by itself, but I find that multiple counters like this can be off-putting when introducing a game to others.
