A short thought experiment

I believe he will uncapable of turning ALL the Investiture into solid form...Probably he would reach a point where He can't invest more. But still there will be so much Lerasium around to turn almost every human into a Mistborn.

So you need to imagine a place where Mistborn, Fullborn and Mistborn-Ferring are everywhere. The amount of Atium avaliable would made people able to predict the future to a degree so probably no more Casino or stuff like that.

This use of the godmetals will make the power return to Harmony and probably it will unbalance him toward Ruin...not a funny scenario

Actually that was a thing i wondered about larasium how how does it return to preservation ? after consumption ? after death ? both have problems if its after consumption then why does the person remain a mistborn indefinitely if its after death then why can is children be allomancers

After consumption the Lerasium return to Preservation.

The guy remains a Mistborn but a Mistborn isn't more invested than someone else. It's just more deeply connected with Preservation

ok thanks and about the original question i was more interested in discussing what whould happen to harmony rather then the typical scalladrian

Some time ago I wondered if a Shard could invest itself so much to De-Ascend. After talking a bit with the others, we figurated that Investing is probably an osmosis like phenomen and therefore under a certain threeshold it will be impossible to Invest further. Of course that is a speculation but it's the only answer I could give you

Brandon appears to have answered this one, to the effect that while Investiture is technically finite there's so much of it that in practice it might as well be thought of as an infinite resource. Here's the most important bit:

Brandon Sanderson

Just as a point you should understand, the amount of MATTER in the cosmere is finite too. As is the amount of energy.

Worrying that Endowment will run out of Breaths to give is a little like worrying that the amount of carbon on Earth will run out because people keep being born.

So it's probably this side of impossible for a Shard to Invest so much that they stop being a Shard.

On a similar note, I believe that we have a WoB saying that investiture tends to pool into areas. If a shard invested its self enough to de ascend, the investiture would quickly gather, and another person could pick it up.

There might be a paradox here. If a shard divests x% of their investiture, they become too weak to control their own power, and thus they cannot divest anymore until they've reabsorbed some of it.

Also, I like to imagine that a sufficiently enormous pile of godmetal (many, many times larger than the Lord Ruler's atium stash) would reach a critical mass where it spontaneously melts and coalesces into a new shardpool.

I've been thinking on similar things but as it relates to Harmony and his dual Shards. We know from the Oathbringer epigraphs that

Spoiler

Sazed is having difficulty with even simple actions due the conflicting nature of his Shards. (For the purpose of this discussion, I'm assuming that Harmony is, in fact, the writer of the 3rd letter.

Quote

"I am the least equipped, of all, to aid you in this endeavor. I am finding that the powers I hold are in such conflict that the most simple of actions can be difficult."

The question I have been thinking on, is whether there is a way for Harmony to tip his Intent scale to one Shard or the other by divesting himself of some Intent? Or will the Intent of Preservation or Ruin be just as strong no matter what, keeping Sazed in forever conflict? I guess what I'm asking is whether or not a Shard's Intent can be  lessened/divested, or only just their power? And if so, could Sazed use this method to 'free' himself up a little bit?..ie.. If he could tip the Intent scale a little bit to either Preservation or Ruin, would that allow him to better use the powers of his conflicting Shards? My thinking was that you cannot lessen/diffuse Intent like a Shard could do with their power...Gross oversimplification follows:

Preservation could split his power into 100 pieces. Each piece would only have 1% of Preservation's power but would still have 100% of Preservation's Intent.

I'm just trying to figure out how Harmony is going to get to play ;)

I think that Sazed could make an entirely new planet made of harmonium. That'd be about the amount to deInvest him, probably, but it's definitely too much to burn.

Maybe the size of an asteroid, if lerasium takes up more Investiture than I think it does.

Giant planet with a very humid atmosphere
