PowerKeepers: the Dragon Warrior

Note: I'm going to be doing this here and there, and I'll comment again when I finish.

Again, this takes place in the powerkeeper universe. I'll put a link here to the main topic if you haven't read about it before (at some point). The focus of this story is dragons. And I love my dragons.

A silver dragon came from the sky.

This part of the Dragonlands was not as lush. No dragons actually dwelt here.

The silver dragon was visibly with egg. Her wing was badly injured, her scales dull. She had just crossed the gap between moon and planet, and she was exhausted. But she would do whatever it took to save her egg.

Dust flew as she impacted wildly into the ground. She could no longer prevent the egg from emerging. A large, golden egg.

In just two weeks, it would hatch. She would need to conserve her energy to protect it and feed it. Her wing had been even more badly maimed in the crash. She knew she would not survive. But perhaps she could save her son. Her Sun.

Above, the moon shed its light on the Moon dragon, queen of dragons.

*3.5 months later*

Alexander rode on a dragon, hunting giant magical sloths. Doradons, as the dragons called them.

He was now 15. 3 years ago he had picked up the Dragon Saber, the weapon of the legendary Dragon Warrior. It had changed colors in his hand, signaling that he would be a worthy recipient of the power of the dragons.

Now normally a dragon warrior would have a bonded partner dragon, signaled by what color the blade turned. But... his blade had turned gold. And there were no gold dragons in the dragonlands. So he had trained, while the council searched for a gold dragon.

He now rode on the back of Aquilfer, a water dragon. Supposedly they were patrolling, but very little happened. So most patrols were considered hunts.

While dragons were not allowed to hunt other intelligent magical creatures like unicorns or pheonix, doradon were magical but decidedly unintelligent. Like their earth cousins, they were slow. But they were still formidable. Larger than the largest dragons, they were the size of small battleships, if not larger. And they had the ability to go intangible if they detected danger.

Stealth was key to hunting it. Alex already knew the plan. Having ridden with all the different tribes at some point or another, he also knew how Aquilfer would want to hunt.

So, Alex jumped off of the dragons back. Clearing the wings, he summoned the Dragon Saber. Plunging towards the doradon, it was sure to see him.

Alex cloaked himself, focusing his aura through the augmenting Saber. Light now flowed around him, making him truly invisible. The doradon would have no warning.

Problem was, he was falling. He had no parachute, no way to stop. Again, he focused his aura through the Saber. This time, he built up a positive magnetic charge in him and in the doradon. It would slow him down, repulsing him.

He controlled the charges carefully, so he would not lose total momentum, but also not move so fast as to break himself on impact.

When he hit, the sword cut cleanly into the doradon's heart. As the beast began to collapse, Aquilfer struck the head, and tore out the neck. Alex released the spells he had woven.

More dragons would come to feed on such a huge animal. Not too many, for they were civilized, and not driven into blood frenzy.

Alex cut himself a reasonable portion, and cooked it, using the sword as a microwave emitter. It was a good thing it enhanced his powers, or he probably wouldn't be able to keep up this use of magic. It was meant to stretch his abilities, something the PowerKeepers had taught him during his 3 month training stint there.

Supposedly he would be more powerful if they could find his companion. The spell that the Dragon Saber was created around wove a bond between dragon and human, granting each better abilities in magic and physical combat. That was the whole point of the Dragon Warrior. Dragons were not as capable with spells as humans, due to their aura being mostly within their body, with little out to use in sorcery and such. Instead, their auras were reflected in the color of their scales, and augumented the predatory perfection that was a dragon.

He had been taught many things about how draconic auras worked. Most of it, he didn't care about. His electromagnetic powers weren't supremely powerful, but good enough to be useful.

He chewed on the doradon meat as he looked towards the setting sun. It was beautiful. Several more dragons had landed on the carcass, and even a pheonix had come.

Of course, by looking at the setting sun, he was blinded by the silver burst of light.

-----------------------------

Far away, the moon dragon had made a choice. She was dying. Her son would not survive if she did not get someone to take care of him. So she concentrated her aura, and used up everything to send a beacon of light out. A blinding silver explosion. Her body disintegrated into silver dust. The small Sun dragon was instantly coated in what had been his mother.

Aquilfer and Alex, still on patrol, were in the air instantly when they saw the burst of light. As they approached, they saw the dust.

"A dragon has died here," rumbled Aquilfer. "This is what happens with total aura expulsion. We turn into dust, with a burst of light. But why here? And a silver dragon?"

Alex considered as they flew into the dust cloud. He was about to say something when he felt a jerk of pain. His saber dropped into his hand, despite not having summoned it.

"Aquilfer, we need to land. Now." Said Alex urgently. Aquilfer did so, and the feelings got stronger.

"What's wrong?" Asked the blue dragon. Just then, the blade began to glow, bright gold.  A rush of feelings, of sadness, of hunger came into Alex's head. And he turned as a gold dragonet, covered in silver dust, crawled towards him.

"A sun dragon?!" Exclaimed the elder lightning dragon. "How is this possible?"
