I find your lack of Mervyn Peake indicative of a collapse of civilization as we know it! :P;)

I think he was one that I tried at the wrong time and will certainly give another chance! Some of my favorites came after a false start.

Great! I thought this thread would get more traffic so I am glad another is willing to share.

Guess people are too embarrassed by their reading material? Just want to know if iPhone pictures can be uploaded here straight from the phone or not before trying.

@Orlion On a Cob - So, your cat's name is Mervyn Peake? ... just kidding. ;) He inspired D.M. Cornish's "Monster Blood Tattoo" series - have you read that? It's tween lit but very creative.

@Draginon - Aeems like you're new 'round here - welcome to the 17th Shard!

Are we only posting photos of genre books? Or is it everything in one's library?

Yes, I just joined but was lurking for quite a while.

I think its everything in our libraries, at least that's what I'm going to post when I grab some pictures.

in my case, it would be a pain to try to take the pics and get them onto my computer.  also, my library, such as it is, is a bit smaller than the ones posted so far, though it is overflowing the space available for it enough that I have to double layer books in places, and I have a few st sitting on my dresser that I need to find space for.

Heres my library. I have more books, but they are boxed away in the garage. I'm also planning on rearranging a lot of this at some point. Sorry for any sideways pictures, they uploaded that way. :(

My leatherbounds, a handful of books from Fencon and my Big Finish audios:

Mostly my YA and fantasy stuff along with a couple DVD box sets:

More of my fantasy sets along with my Stephen King books, my Doctor Who DVDs and Doctor Who books

My entire DVD/blu-ray library

Now for some close ups

My leather bound classics and modern classics. I plan on rainbow sorting these at some point, but for now just enjoy this color madness!

Some older books and self published books I bought at Fencon

My Big Finish audios ranging from Doctor Who to Frankenstein to Oz. If you haven't listened to anything from these guys you should, they are excellent at turning very visual shows into audio to the point the Fifth Doctor actually has to face off against the Weepibg Angels in one adventure.

Just some nice hardbacks plus a great book from Dragonmount's founder

IMG_1137.thumb.JPG.6a041d42f91890ec49a5c9b7e8289f08.JPG

My Harry Potter books

IMG_1138.thumb.JPG.9ddbcbdd0af0837872554f6a3535cd87.JPG

Just some random books ranging from Disney Parks stuff to the Weird US books to a couple King's and Heroes of Olympus

IMG_1139.thumb.JPG.baecd7f31f39439f5fc6b12e7c6f7966.JPG

More hardbacks. The books to the right of the Walt Disney book is my mom's books.

IMG_1140.thumb.JPG.05a32faf52911c53c708803ebd763c5f.JPG

The start of putting my YA books on one shelf. I wish that the Twisted Tales were coordinated instead of changing at book 3.

IMG_1141.thumb.JPG.ed04699c14103e685900d70c18fec72a.JPG

My Sanderson books plus some comics. I rarely double dip but I made an exception for Elantris. My system here is this is going by publishing order instead of by series. That copy of Calamity is a signed copy I got last year at Barnes & Noble on Black Friday because they had a sale going on for signed books and just couldn't pass this one up. I'm trying to get all the MCU comic tie-ins but dang are these things pricey! Also, Go Go Power Rangers!

IMG_1142.thumb.JPG.37040d3cfda8ed80a69c6c987e401c8e.JPG

Unread books just waiting to be read after I read my Sanderson copies, though I will read the Holmes and Five Nights books in October. The Beast is an Animal is probably the only book I've ever bought just because of the cover which is gorgeous. I wasn't planning on getting any of Game of Thrones, I know that's not the name of the series, until Winds of Winter at least had a date but I picked it up to get a head start on getting them. No Rothfuss because dude, finish book 3, I don't want to read the two currently out and wait to read the ending!

IMG_1143.thumb.JPG.ba18abea5b5c6d9374dfb4034ce23037.JPG

A mix of YA and adult. Simple and shiny Hunger Games is great. damnation J. K., you sure have a potty mouth when Potter isn't around.

IMG_1144.thumb.JPG.88555a08356e2f5383f5f386bdfcc4bc.JPG

Jim Butcher makes an appearance along with Sword of Truth. Haven't read SOT yet. I loved the Alexa Codex book and plan on getting the rest along with Dresden. Divergent, eh, not the greatest story ever. Am debating if I should pick up the rest just to read more of Four.

IMG_1145.thumb.JPG.de9ed9d7b466a45d2a62db5a91e8e403.JPG

More King and WOT. Funny that I have Thinner right next to WOT XD

IMG_1146.thumb.JPG.b933fe9ee233ee93056b17d95be677aa.JPG

Rest of WOT, King and LOTR. Confession time, I haven't fully read LOTR. I started it a few years back but the traveling from the Shire to Bree bored me. I do plan on trying again in the future. That book on the very end is one I got for Christmas a couple years back and will never read. It's a parody of LOTR and my mom saw me looking at it and assumed I was interested just because I picked it up and read the synopsis to see what the heck it was.

IMG_1147.thumb.JPG.69b75d425ffa05b981f69a207dfadad8.JPG

A lot more YA. You can tell I like the Percy Jackson books and Kingdom Keepers.

IMG_1148.thumb.JPG.11d89d3f084ca5405f5e8467abbf06e0.JPG

More King! You can guess who I was super into a few years back. I do have Eragon and Eldest but they are packed away in the garage.

A shelf I'm starting for my Shout! Factory purchases. There's the Big Bad Beetleborgs, Super Sentai's Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger (bloody fun kids show from Japan that became the adaptation for Power Rangers), the two old Power Rangers movies so that I can put them with the sets once I get all four (only have two at the moment) and the first film of Digimon Adventure tri.

Hope you enjoyed this tour tour of my shelves and my silly words.

@Draginon That's just nuts! I am blown away by your collection, specially your leatherbounds (so pretty!). I could get lost in there, I swear. Can I move to your house? :P

My collection is not that impressive, since I've started it not too long ago and I don't have much space for bookshelves so they're all arranged where I can possibly fit them. It's not pretty. I'm hoping some day I'll move out of here, where I can proudly display them, but until then, it's all shame for me xD.

And I plan on reorganizing sometime in the future. Those leatherbounds also have beautiful covers, and they are all Barnes & Noble editions.

Imagine if you were a booktuber! Also the books I currently have on the shelves are from at least the last 10 years so that shows how long I've had these shelves, though I've been reading since I was way little.

Finally a thread I can contribute to!

Here is the overview of the books currently "allowed" to be downstairs in the limited shelf space I have (the rest, the books I deem to have "lower quality" than these, are crammed into shelves and cupboards in my spare room upstairs).

History shelf

Crime and various shelf

And here is the part of the shelf you're probably most interested in:

Very nice! Does Norway  (I think thats where you're from) sell both U.S. and U.K versions of Sanderson's books?

Yeah, they do, actually. Especially the bookstore I buy them in (called Outland), which is a store selling "everything geek" (meaning books, comics, board games, clothes...). I've never asked them, but it seems which version they get is a bit random.

Also, the various versions is how I landed myself with 3 different copies of WoR. When it came out they only had the UK version, but I couldn't wait, so I got that one. But I really wanted the US HC version since that's the version I had of WoK, so when they got it a week later, I got that one as well.

Then my friend went to the US, managed to get land himself in a Sanderson reading+signing, and asked if I wanted a book signed. Of the ones they had in store, WoR was the only one I didn't have signed already, so he got me the paperback US version.

(Brandon actually visited Outland some years back, which is how I got most of my books signed.)

@Leiasqz that's an interesting way to sort your books. Do you prefer the U.K. or US version of the covers you have both versions of? I like that you have the U.K. version of Discworld. I like the simple look done here, but I hate how they decide to translate from British to US English so the first book here is Color of Magic instead of the actual title of Colour of Magic. Also what books are in the back on the third shelf? I see Eye of the World and Dragon Reborn.

Sadly, when I moved to Prague I had to get rid of my collection, now I only use Kindle so all my books are e. My main collections are Sanderson, Hobbs, McClellan and Card. Weeks of course, and Brett. The main ones I used to have but got rid of were the entire 30 book arc from Feist, Song of Ice and Fire and Tolkien (every published Tolkien). Here are some screenshots of my Amazon collection now :P Of course there are many books I will need to own again one day. And the tin-eyes amongst you will notice I am missing some Brandon, which is outrageous. That will be remedied in due course.

One that's missing, that I can't wait for, is the Name of the Wind 10th anniversary edition, which will arrive in a few months :DScreenshot_20170729-110620.thumb.png.afb26fe2e029ff56fcab338ea4e766a0.pngScreenshot_20170729-110629.thumb.png.861ea50af26d67ea5c12494c26a55c98.pngScreenshot_20170729-110635.thumb.png.1a741bada2cda1efc2f810e2dfbd3575.pngScreenshot_20170729-110640.thumb.png.e5108de06baa4ca8b5b171b8593a6566.pngScreenshot_20170729-110646.thumb.png.ca818c79236d3270a0a8169d3eaa222e.pngScreenshot_20170729-110652.thumb.png.c43e004a03546952f95f3fe18ecc4799.pngScreenshot_20170729-110707.thumb.png.dc5aa70d64ae83adb0e4877ee42b2ad8.pngScreenshot_20170729-110713.thumb.png.53264a912fbfc69953e16be660c7a8a9.pngScreenshot_20170729-110724.thumb.png.7034b172487995fa43a6a94b817171cd.pngScreenshot_20170729-110730.thumb.png.94c458de612a193ffe54b023d9079bc6.png
