Link goes to media, but no file plays.

Try turning up your volume. It's pretty quiet.

EDIT: Just listened to it. This is some extremely interesting stuff. Answers to old questions, and new questions in need of theorizing.

Spoiler

Who (or what) was that voice?

Is anyone doing a transcript maybe? *crosses fingers*

I am happy to do this, I'm a pretty fast typist (typer? typister?) but may not get around to it til the weekend. If anyone will be quicker I'll take a backseat.

I haven't been able to listen to it yet, does the recording include Q&A?

Also is it kosher to transcribe and publish a reading? I thought I remembered some 17th Shard rule that we're not supposed to without Team Sanderson permission.

I think we aren't supposed to transcript and publish unless Brandon gives the authorization. Usually, he prefers if his readings remain the privilege of those able to attend to his signings. We have to respect his wishes.

Thanks @maxal that was my understanding. If there is any recording of the Q&A I'm happy to transcribe that but unless a mod says otherwise I won't do the reading.

Yeah. I think it is best to leave it as is unless one of the mods pop in to give us the authorization. In any advent, I do feel hearing Brandon read chapters give them an extra special we aren't getting just by reading them. So this will definitely be a good experience, tonight.

I think you can make comments in the thread, but put them in spoilers so others can decide whether they want to read them or not.

Okay. Let's get to it.

Spoiler

So first off, Galivar has another black orb. Where is it? Galivar also seemed a little like Mr. T, don't you think, going on about what is to come and uniting everyone and using the Pashendi gods and such. A little creepy, and makes you doubt Galivar's alignment. I think the majority of good, juicy info is going to be from Galivar and Eshonai's conversation. Another else have any thoughts on that?

Spoiler

I think Gavilar just confirmed what we already know about the Sons of Honor. They want the Heralds (and probably the Radiants) to return, and they think they can accomplish that by causing a desolation. Or part of one, anyway.

To me, his "unite them" forms a strange contrast with what Dalinar's doing. Gavilar wants to use a threat to unite people, and Dalinar wants to unite people to survive a threat. It's almost like the Selish religions, Shu-Korath and Shu-Dereth. They both embrace the concept of unity, but one sees unity as universal, all-encompassing love, and the other sees it as political unity under a tyrannical world government.

Eshonai says the voidlight is associated with "The King of the Gods," so I think we can safely say the Listeners were aware of Odium.

But I think the most noteworthy part is that voice. (Time index 17:45.) Apparently some disembodied voice, speaking with the Parshendi rhythms, told [Parshendi whose name I'm not sure how to spell] to buy Szeth. This voice facilitated Gavilar's death. This voice set a huge chain of events in motion. This is a major player.

Spoiler

Gavilar's Plan

Do we know who the Parshendi gods are supposed to be exactly? Voidspren in general? Specific voidspren? The Unmade? Sounds like Gavilar's plan was to bring them back in order to bring the Heralds back (i.e. Sons of Honor), thinking that it should be possible to capture the "Parshendi gods" in gems (like a fabrial). Is it possible that Gavilar knew something about the Dawnshards? Where to find them, or how to make new ones, or something? Because it seems like that's basically what they were. A way to bind voidspren.

Parshendi History

Did he say that the Parshmen were created by bonding Listeners with some kind of "ancient, important" spren? Or did I mishear that?

The Orb(s)

The bit about having another one of those orbs made my eyes pop. That thing is such a mystery... and he just casually hands it over like it's no big deal. "Oh, I've got another. Want a souvenir?"

The Voice

My money is 100% on one of the Unmade here.

I assume it would be okay to at least summarize it? I feel bad that @Oversleep is left out. :)

In my experience Brandon explicitly asks event attendees not to post recordings and transcripts when he wants to keep those things event-exclusive. Moreover, he usually does that for book tours so people in cities later in the tour can still hear something fresh and new. One off events like this one, especially when he hasn't said anything, I am over 90% sure he'd be fine with a transcript.

But sure, we can wait on a mod.

Until someone provides a transcript (or until an admin wants it removed), here's a very basic summary:

Spoiler

Eshonai and the Listeners have come to Kholinar for the treaty. Eshonai spends some time thinking about when they first met the Alethi. Then she wanders around and accidentally walks up to a room that Gavilar is in, meeting with some others. (I didn't catch if it's anyone notable?) The meeting wraps up and one of the guards comes out and says Gavilar was to talk to Eshonai. She goes in and they chat.

He shows her a fabrial and explains what it does- that it captures a spren and uses it to do magic. He is excited about the future of the Alethi and Parshendi. He reveals that he plans to bring back their gods. The world has become stagnant, and he seems to understand in a way that the true problem behind the voidbringers was never really dealt with. He wants to bring back their gods so that the Heralds will return ("our gods") and because he thinks a common enemy can be used to unite Roshar (he mutters "Unite them", from the visions). He also shows her a dark orb, implying it has a voidspren captured (?), and says he has another- she can keep this one.

Eshonai is freaking out and Gavilar is a little disappointed she isn't on board. He leaves. She runs off and reports what happened to the Five. They debate what to do. Klade (?) claims to have heard a voice among the rhythms, which directed them to Szeth. The rest is just a few blips of the rest of the night, mostly about what Eshonai is thinking and feeling.

I have very rough transcript of audio ( a lot missing words/sentences - they are marked with time in audio file).

It mostly gives idea about text, but it might be base for some better english speaker to prepare proper transcript.

Can someone confirm if I can add it or not?
