Charononus Posted November 26, 2015 Report Share Posted November 26, 2015 I was trying to look for any WoB's on this, but as I didn't find anything, and I'm fairly lousy at searching for them, I thought I'd ask if anyone had ever asked Brandon if a Twinborn that had two of the same metals or a fullborn, could become a savant of burning their feruchemical storages. With tin or pewter, you would become physically addicted as well, of course. I think you could get physically addicted to compounding if you, say, had double gold, like Miles. I remember there being a WoB on this, but I can't find it now. It said something about how it would be very dangerous for Miles to stop compounding. I think the main thing about savantism and how it differs from a regular addiction is a) it alters you spiritually and it is not always addictive for a metal such as copper or bronze.Compounding would turn into a more regular addiction. Investiture can fill the gap in the soul, but it can also widen the fissure. Unless the compounder was charging up nonstop for ages and was flaring the whole time they should be fine. There's little reason to even do that to yourself. I was thinking about it in terms of TLR's eventual atium shortage problem if Vin hadn't killed him. Where at somepoint, probably still far far in the future he wouldn't have been able to eat atium fast enough to burn his storages, and thinking if he was flaring all those thousands of years, would he be an atium age savant. Like Ookla the Moonless said, Miles didn't feel pain... And it seemed like the Lord Ruler either. Remember, he got stabbed by to spears and didn't show any reaction. True, it could be from just burning or flaring pewter, but I doubt it, as there really wasn't any reaction at all. Actually that is very much not true. You can learn to deal with it and function with it better but you always feel it. Nerve damage has left my leg feeling like it is on fire for the past nine years. Back to the topic, I think, and keep in mind that this is just speculation, not an ultimatum, that it is different for everyone. It could be that Miles has just gotten used to it, as was previously suggested, or it could be that the excess healing from the Gold is somehow dampening the pain, as after all, gold charge is too precious to waste, it being so hard to store, that only a compounder could really test it out, and the compounders usually do just always leave their feruchemy on as it costs them little.
